Nothing...after the bride price is paid and the blessings of both parents are bestowed on the marriage they are husband and wife...nowhere in the law of GOD (according to the Bible) is a white wedding prescribed because the blessings of the LORD are upon a marriage that is sanctioned from above, blessed by parents and witnessed by a few!

Bible even made us understand that until sex happens the couples are not to be referred to as Husband and Wife... Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife : and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2: 24 . As far as GOD is concerned the moment you cleave with a person of the opposite sex you are married to the person and this is why fornication is a deadly sin because it amounts to making a wife out of a woman that you do not intend to marry...or making a husband out of a man you do not intend to marry...this is abuse and GOD hates abuse!

All those innumerable number of events for just one marriage is silly of us as Africans. If we must, all those could be lumped up in a one day event. The bride price is paid and with a pastor standby, the family permits the church to further bless the marriage. That can't take more than one hour even.

Nothing is wrong but can be wrong if the church you attend frowns at it.
Why do people do court wedding,was there court wedding before?
Why do people wear white wedding gown was it like that before?
As the world is changing a lot of things are changing.

And just for the records, most church liase with the court and as such when you wed in the church a copy is sent to the court to make the wedding legally binding.This actually protects the lady in terms of divorce or disagreement.But traditional wedding might not protect you (lady or even the guy) given the current trend of things.

Traditional wedding also protects the lady according to customary law and is enforceable in a native or customary court.

Let say you belong to a Christian group who believes the process of marriage is not completed until it is consummated in a church, the question shouldn't be what is wrong with traditional marriage, but what is wrong with you? Why belong to a group whose principle and philosophy you don't believe in? No one cares what anyone does with their freewill on what to do after traditional marriage. What will be questioned is why belong to a group you don't intend to remain fidel to. Churches generally believes marriage process is not complete until after it is blessed in the church and people who don't believe are not forced to be member of any Church. Intact people are free to start their own church and remove that clause. God the ultimate judge will judge who is right at the end of time.

Its wrong because you haven't given the pastor a fat envelope, therefore your marriage has not been registered in heaven.

Marriage vow is supposed to be holy and honorable. If you've already opened and tasted the package after traditional wedding, what are you coming to do in church again?

To avoid stress. Celebrate both traditional and church weddings the same day. After church wedding in the morning, celebrate the trad in the afternoon and also have your reception there. Full stop!
