crown22: A tailor, Kamoru Akanji, on Tuesday had his 16-year-old marriage to a trader, Sakirat Akanji, dissolved by an Ibadan Grade C Customary Court on the grounds of infidelity and waywardness, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
In his divorce plea, Akanji told the court that his wife was promiscuous and untrustworthy.
He alleged that Sakirat would leave home for weeks, abandoning their five children, without telling anyone about her whereabouts.
Akanji also told the court that he feared for his life, and to avoid being harmed, had sought the divorce.
Though Sakirat agreed to the divorce, she denied all the allegations levelled against her.
She also accused Akanji of not adequately providing financially for the family.
Sakirat said that initially, the upkeep money he gave her and the children was paltry, saying that at a point, he stopped completely.
The President of the Customary Court, Mr. Olayinka Owoade, dissolved the marriage and ordered them to bring their children to the court on April 26 for the determination of their custody. maybe the man's 'this thing' wasn't working He pushed her to it. I'm sure the woman had managed and managed ,resisted and resisted until she could neither manage nor resist no more and was forced to play away matches |

cantell: Story! You should speak for yourself! Don't include other Igbo women. If you're the type that runs away from the husband or seeks for divorce at any slight problem, carry on. Just don't try to get others to be like you. Are you trying to say that you're wiser than all the Igbo women who choose to be in their husbands house? My parents has been together for thirty something years now and they are happy. They have their problems but they always settle it amicably. I could remember in 1998 when my mum fell sick. She was ill for like close to 2yrs. My dad spent all He had just to make sure she gets well. Finally when she got well, my dad had little or no money, but she stayed with him till he got to his feet again. Thats the way marriage should be! For better, for worse. Not jumping out of marriage because you feel like. Have you wondered why most Igbo guys(even other guys from other tribes) always marry Igbo women? The answer is simple. They want a marriage that'll last. Get that into your thick skull! Your father can be the high priest of Okija and Ijebuode shrines combined Who cares? abeg comot If you want me to break down my writing in central Igbo, let me know |

pres-elect: hmmn, osisi at it again. have u asked if the apparently lower divorce rate among igbos is due to lower rate of wife battery? or perhaps igbo couples believe that no matter what, children are served better with both parents living under the same roof. biko take am easy joo. no one likes divorce, but ask a divorce rusty judge and he/she will tell you that it's better to discourage divorce b/c there have been cases where couples feel like killing each other only for them to make up for it at a later date. in a marriage, always try a second chance. as long as life is not at risk, it should be given another chance. if the man is beating the woman then it should be ended immediately and the man locked up, but small manhood? jeez!!!!! Haba prez I don't think there are any stats to support that Igbo men abuse their spouses less. The one we know is that divorce cases filed by abused women in Yorubaland is rampant and almost non existent in Igboland I said I believe in marriage but not marriage at all costs.Rather than a man to kill me with his bare hands,I'll leave and be alone That is what everywoman should do and I'm impressed that Yoruba women are not taking that nonsense from the men. Staying because of kids and have your body punched and kicked nightly is no marriage. Any woman in that situation should get out. period! Marriage is good but when it gets physically abusive, the contract should end. He vowed to love and cherish me not to drink and punch me in themouth and kick me in the head Thank God I'm not in that situation ,na bottle I go use break the man's head and hire thugs to teach him a good lesson he'll never forget |

Countries all over the world and advanced democracies have had their own share the experiences of their older generations before transferring power to the younger generation. This would be my new role if given the opportunity to serve.” May the Minna Amadioha break your neck Eediot! why get into leadership at all? an uneducated fool that ruined Nigeria in uniform now wants to wear babariga and finish off what he started? why can't these kidnappers locate these folks and keep them indefinitely without ransome sef. |

CyberG: What a contradiction! So if your are actually throwing a challenge to the youth like you claim, why then go ahead attempting to take over the challenge you just put-up to the youths? A thieving man at 70 cannot be said to be a youth in any way! Anyways, just in a very short while, you will be joining your wife who you claimed asked you to run as president in HELL! Bunch of thieving vagabonds! Thank you! |

What does he still want to do in Nigeria's leadership? This is a murderous criminal that ought to be sitting in jail with soldier ants gnawing at his scrotum daily if he got life. It's amazing that these people won't just shut up and quietly go away |
