That idea helps you retain meaning in your life
I understand your plight
I am more positive
Nigeria ,all of it or most of it will grow and there will be even better and bigger cities/states than Lagos. That is not the best of us
If Rivers State or Akwa Ibom had visionary leadership we won't be having such small minded and mean spirited conversations
Remember Tinubu promised to transform Onitsha to Lagos grin

I said Lagos belongs to all Nigerians equally because 100% of Nigerian resources developed Lagos and if you dont know that this is fact, means you're not truthful to yourself
Lagos state has always contributed more to the centre than it received back
Lagos city too is in the same situation

A s such states Like Ekiti,Anambra,Imo,Zamfara etc have been developed by resources from Lagos state more than Lagos received from them
This fact was established from colonial times

You're right.

I never said they are to be forced to behave so.

I didn't mean to imply that.

All I'm saying is that one in a position like that isn't supposed to Publicly take sides. This isn't a law. It's a reasonable line of action just like going to school is great BUT it's still not ENCODED in our laws.
But you're yet to give me a reason why it's a good idea for traditional rulers to take sides in an election that has his tribesmen as contestants.

I'm ready to hear from you how it is beneficial for traditional rulers to PUBLICLY announce a preference.

Cheers.

I am sorry to say your question is childish
Only children think in binaries
I have not expressed an opinion that it is good for them to take sides or not
My view is society should debate it and decide but the rules as they are do not prohibit it
It is hypocrisy to pick on Oba of Lagos for doing something he did not start

You are making a big mistake. Gbadebos loss is not because of Igbo mother, Desmond Elliot is a fine example of a sensible person with Igbo mother.

Gbadebo lost because he abused Yorubas on line and for the world to see that he hated Yorubas by posting a goat and calling it Afonjaa....na bastard dey do that kin thing. The mama never taught him respect for other tribes since he does not behave like Yoruba
Gbadebo lost because he is not a credible candidate. NOT BECAUSE of abuse ,yes that Did not help but besides that now many people know him before February 25?
He was going against an incumbent. What is HIS selling point?
Nothing absolutely nothing
He rode on the back of Obi sentiment

You're the one being sentimental.

Why do you go to school since it's not written in the constitution & it's not required by Ogun & IFa?

Why do you think people approach [perceived] neutral arbiters to resolve problems between disagreeing parties?

So why didn't they Traditional rulers and Oba choose a candidate between Ambode & Sanwolu PUBLICLY?

Why didn't they (Traditional rulers) choose publicly between PMB & Atiku? Including Northern traditional rulers?

Why did they choose Publicly between GEJ & PMB in 2015?

You have nothing to say
It is your opinion
That doesn't mean everyone must subscribe to your opinion
Stop trying to bulldoze or bully
Anything not legislated in human affairs will always be subject to debate especially so called unwritten rules
If that is to be the way forward it must be encoded

None.

But you know it isn't right.

It's also not written in the constitution to go to school too but I know it's the right thing to do.

If you think it's right for an Oba to be partisan (irrespective of who he supports)then fine.

Who are. You to tell me what I know?
I arrive at knowing from a position of not knowing by THINKING and cognitive interrogation
Not emotion or sentiment
There is nothing wrong in aspiring for that BY CONSENSUS not by arrogating exalted insight or knowledge to yourself
If that is what we want as a people, fine! But I do not recall such an agreement

Their actions aren't right.

An Oba PUBLICLY declaring support for a candidate isn't right.

I read that.

If not that Nigeria is like this, an Oba ought to be a great avenue for Alternative Dispute resolution like the courts. It their partisanship & political involvement has rubbed their images wrongly.

Not right according to

Ogun?

You are a dishonest liar.

You are not even in Lagos, from faraway UK you are saying that "Lagos was largely peaceful & few Isolated ugly incidents.", I don't blame you it is very easy to say rubbish from the comfort of your Sofa in UK.

The police nothing about the hate speech & ethnic profiling of Mc Oluomo & and his subtle threat to disenfranchise Igbo's.

From Amuwo-Odofin, to Ojo, to Oshodi-Isolo, to Eti-Osa, to Alimosho, to Ikeja, to Lagos Mainland, there was heavy mobilisation of thugs to intimidate, suppress & disenfranchise voters.

Where was the police, at Falz police unit Press men where attacked in front of the police they did nothing.

During peaceful protest we see how they are able to mobilize to harass protesters, so where was the police I ask again.

If they were found wanting yesterday, why would any sane individual attach value to whatever garbage report they issue.

The police are best placed to make that call
My words essentially paraphrased the words of the Commissioner of police,Idowu Owohunwa, on national television.
You are entitled to agree or disagree
But there is no basis to call me a liar or other rude words grin
Remember a score of 280 is excellent in JAMB equivalent to 70%

70% score means . 30% failure 70% is an A or A +

So assessment is a matter of proportion and relativity
To have any objectivity there must be data and measurements

This data can best be obtained from incident reports from the police

What is your source of information and why should we trust it
How many people died across the country and how many were in Lagos?

It's disgraceful to the stool they represent.

You don't have an argument.

GrV isn't the only contestant in the elections.

Ohaneze Ndi Igbo is NOT a traditional ruler.

I'm referring to a traditional ruler. A Nigerian stool.

It's shameful for them to pick favourites publicly.

Publicly is the key here. You know in your heart that this is wrong & I don't care about GRV or anyone who becomes the Governor.

Did Ooni not publicly side with Tinubu?

The excellency of his position demands that he's not public with his choice.

Deadly Mischief: A Loaf of Bread Draws
Second Blood

It was in May, during Aguiyi Ironsi’s reign
that the first of what is known today as
anti-Igbo riots occured.
According to the story, an Igbo bakery
made a loaf of bread, depicting Nzeogwu as
the Saint in the ‘Saint George and the
Dragon’ medieval crusader story, from the
7-11th century.

Advance our standards, set
upon our foes Our ancient world
of courage fair
St. George Inspire us with the
spleen of fiery dragons…..
Richard III. act v, sc.3. ”
“ Come not between the
Dragon and his wrath….. King
Lear. Act I, Sc 2 – William
Shakespeare

This depiction was highly provocative to a
welcoming Hausa-Fulani, still licking their
wounds and being hospitable, after an
unprovoked Igbo led military coup and
assassination of their finest.

Any one who calls the last 8 years of Buhari democracy is mistaken
You can call it civilian rule but democracy no
Brazen and repeated disregard for court orders
Forced removal of the Chief justice of Nigeria
Arrest of judges at night
DSS disappearance of citizens
DSS assault on the National assembly
SARS
FOR the first time security operatives escort citizens to AT Ms
Soldiers invaded UNIBEN on reprisal attacks
First lady kidnapped a citizen for insulting her
Igboho 's house raided in the middle of the night people killed without accountability
Same thing in Kanu s house
Many Shiites murdered
Military burning down police stations

Do not confound civilian rule of pretend elections with democracy

The last 8 years has been worse than many military regimes
Even the military obeyed the courts and many jurisprudence landmarks were established by Gani Fawehinmi under military rule

This absence of democracy is not just a federal phenomenon. It is present at state government level, even worse

On What metrics or by what measure?

The only people qualified to say this based on data are the police
That is the most credible source

Some states couldn't complete election because of violence
Lagos completed a largely peaceful and fair election with only a few isolated ugly incidents that the police quickly contained unlike some states that were unable to complete elections

But how did Igbo interfere in Lagos politics? Did dey contest any political position? I thought the only thing they did was to come out and vote which is there civic right or did I miss something?. Are we saying it's now a crime for someone to vote in there area of residence? Is it only the Igbos that voted against the ruling party in Lagos? I do not like the direction this is going, initially I thought it was the usual political banters that will disappear after election but boy was I wrong. We have seen this before, prior to 1967 the air around the country was thick with this kind of caustic sentiment that eventually led to the death of more than 3million Nigerians. Is history about to repeat itself or are men about to repeat history? This is dangerous, it should stop. Everyone who loves peace and prosperity should make the concious decision to desist for hateful statement that serves no purpose but temptation. Let everyone go about his business with decency and tranquility. Please let us do everything in our power to avoid conflict. Our common enemy should be bad government, the criminally minded and the intolerant.
You are being clever by half
You are deceiving only yourself with this specious argument
Area of residence?
Why did Eboes transfer over 50000 PVCs to Lagos state with less than a year to elections
Only Lagos in the whole country
When you folk come up with these grandiloquent argumentation do you really believe your listeners are that credulous? If you do then you have serious issues

Thanks for your clarification and for being mature in your response.
I think you made a lot of sense.
I didn't know about the administrative divisions. Many of us confuse Lagos as a megacity with Lagos State. I am still learning
Well, Lagosians should decide how they should be ruled. I don't live in Lagos so it's not really my business.

I am from Lagos state and I know a lot about its history.
I do not know everything about Lagos state after very actively studying the history for more than 30 years.
There are forests with monkeys in Lagos state
There are places where you find 20 ft snakes in Lagos state
And there are communities that have no electricity and are off grid.
A large part of the people used to be fishermen and are victims of Lagos development because they lost livelihood and lands but they are very peaceful and accommodating. Not all Yorubas are like that
It is important to respect indigenes and their ways
Sometimes Ibos talk in a way that is very offensive and disrespectful
That did not start today

In January 1966 after killing Balewa,Akintola,Hello in a coup
https://dailytrust.com/january-15-1966-coup/
Posters, stickers, postcards, cartoons displaying the murdered Sardauna begging Major Nzeogwu at the gates of heaven or Balewa burning outright in pits of hell or Nzeogwu standing St. George-like on Sardauna, the defeated dragon, began to show up across Northern towns and cities. These provocations were so pervasive that they warranted the promulgation of Decree 44 of 1966 banning them”

We all know what followed

What would Ibos have been saying if GVR had won and how would that end
Some things are too existential to play with
Before cutting Down a tree think and plan for where and how it would fall

Oh well, I guess I used a wrong term. My apologies!
I meant Lagos is a conurbation.

Let me help you
I think you meant Cosmopolitan

Many visitors make a lot of wrong assumptions
Lagos is a state that contains a city also called Lagos
Just like Kano,Kaduna,Enugu,Bauchi,Sokoto etc
When you use the word LAGOS which of the two are you talking about
They are not the same.
Lagos state has rural areas with indigenes where people grow cassava, make garri,Go fishing and so on. Historically Epe and Ikorodu are 2 of the 5 divisions of Lagos state with nearly 60% of the land mass
It is Ijebu land .and not Metropolitan or Cosmopolitan
Lagos state has 5 administrative divisions
Lagos
Ikorodu
Ikeja
Badagry
Epe
