I warn you never use or depend on chaka to trade international stocks especially if you're to monitor and know when to sell, someone here recommended trading 212 but I chose chaka instead, today, I lost $1000, shares I bought at $0.28 (JE). When the stock hit $1000 value, wanted to sell, that was when the app crashed, it refused to function, I went to the web as the value started dropping quickly and still couldn't sell because the glitch was on their website too, when I was able to get through, my share value had dropped to $17. God knows how I feel right now.

We learn everyday, hope one day NSE will extend their branch to foreign investment, where one can use registered stockbroking firm in Nigeria to trade directly, since we are living in the world global village, the world without boundary.

Sometimes American with their visa problem might be a temporary set back in case of eventuality. It's more advantageous for those residing in America.

If SEC can license FinApps, it shouldn't be a big deal with established brokers.

Imagine, making a profit of 70k from disposal of all my AIICO shares and wanted to dispose all my CHAMs too , but mistakenly used all AIICO proceed to buy CHAMs instead, and wasted all the gains.

Omo, I was down for close to 1week, after all the plans made for the gains/profits, now I tripple check before placing any order.

My problem with distance online trading is that when the case that will involve physical presence of a customer to pursue his/her case, the country concern like America might deny him/her visa to visit. And those who might not have enough money to pursue their case might ended up being frustrated.
Please help me with answer to these questions.
1. What of in case of eventuality where the stockbroker folded, how can one in Nigeria transfer his/her share to another stockbroker in America?
2. In place like Nigeria that registrar will demand your bank confirmation of signature for your uploaded e-dividend to be approve, how will one in Nigeria investing in American get his/her e-dividend activate in registrar that reside in America, without him/her being physical present and without American residential address?
3. The stockbrokers platform uses to trade foreign stock from Nigeria, are the under which country government regulations like (SEC)?

Am asking to know, because we learn everyday, thanks in anticipation.

1. When you register with the fintechs, they create foreign stockbroking accounts for you with their US partners but if you open with foreign based platforms, it's a direct account. This accounts can be transferred.

How do I know? I tried opening an account on T212, I was asked if I want to move an existing account to them. They told me the form to fill ONLINE.

2. Your dividends are paid into your stockbroking account. The cost of transfering them to your Nigeria account directly will not encourage you to accept direct wire remittance.

3. Trading the NYSE & NASDAQ, the brokers are regulated by US regulator. They also provide insurance to a certain threshold of your holdings.

I believe you can share other concerns and hear opinions in the US stocks thread.

Please note: my answers are not exhaustive and are limited by my experience. Seek professional advise, if you wish to test the waters.

Maybe it's just me, I don't feel comfortable when a company stocks keep rising and rising with no pul back, it's a good though but it doesn't just feel right, I feel something wrong will soon happen and from history, we all know anything can happen.

I'm referring to apple and Tesla. I own apple stock tho.

One major safety criteria for trading and investing in US stocks is to be sure the stock you are buying is not illiquid.
The range should be a minimum daily trading quantity of 200,000 to 400,000 shares.
Anything below the above threshold may put you in danger of being trapped in a stock should there be a massive bailout by investors.

Having said that, ANGC and Kimco, both with reasonably high dividend yields as indicated, are my recommendations on your list.

The thing with dividend yield is that it is not constant as it is derived from the share price per time.
A 10% dividend yield stock in March that has recovered from the negative effect of the pandemic will no longer be 10% in today's price.

I once hunted a REIT stock with a dividend yield as high as 14% around March/April because the price was beat down badly.
With the price recovery that most stocks have enjoyed after March, the dividend yield is much lower.

As you may know, the dividend yield of a stock is calculated by dividing the most recent dividend per share by the share price, multiplied by 100.

If you can share what stock you saw at 10% yield, we can confirm what the present yield is.

One key criteria for picking the "dividend kings" I mentioned about sharing in my earlier post is that the company must meet some common criteria.
This includes having dividend yields greater than 3%, payout ratios of less than 75% (or less than 100% for REITs), three-year average dividend growth of at least 5% and a minimum market cap of $1 billion.

I am filling e-dividend forms for my shares and would send scanned copies to the registrars by mail. But the challenge is that I don't know my Bank Account Opening Date. Is this a mandatory field in the forms? Can the forms be processed if this field is left blank?

Guide from any of the experienced people in this forum will be highly appreciated. Thanks for your help

You can leave it blank. It's not a showstopper. I have done forms without it and got paid.

Thanks for your response ma, I was referring to share Transfer forms, I filled the e-dividend mandate forms which I took to my bank GTB for confirmation since June, the man in charge said the bank can help me get it to the respective registrars, I doubt if he actually did that, it was later I found out that SEC had stopped bank confirmation, I have filled Africa prudential registrar e-dividend for my Uba, Afriprud & Ucap online which they acknowledged receipt, but informed me that I should liase with my broker to get share Transfer form send to them, it now remain e-dividend mandates for GTB, Zenith and Redstar which I will filled and send to them tru email this week, God's willing, thanks once again for ur everytime concern u always show newbies like me on this wonderful forum.

GTB will send it for you.
Even if you send directly to the registrar, they'd still upload on NIBBS for your banker to verify. So, no worries.
If you don't mind, you can fill new ones. Scan and send to the registrar. Do everything possible to get your DIVIDENDS.
