Sorry about your rejection. You aren't the only one rejected based on this same reason. About 8 of us here got this same generic response from CIC. meg123: Please, Guru in the House. My study permit got refused on two reasons below; I need sincere advise before I refire the application. I am currently working and it was stated in my application letter, with offer letter attached, even promotion letters was attached.. JD was also attached. I don't understand what the VO means as below: 1. Not satisfied you will leave Canada subsection 216 based on purpose of visit 2. Not satisfied you will leave Canada subsection 216 based on employment situation
Please, kindly advise.. Thanks |

It's clearly stated on the GCMS request page They are experiencing a huge number of GCMS request (due to refusal of course) so there might be a delay. Frankrobbn1: It appears the delay is everywhere as I recently noticed some applicants are also complaining about the delay in receiving their GCMS note. Have you received an email from the third party website that your request has been extended until 90days?. You can also send a gentle reminder to them so they could mark your request as a priority. |

Hello bro I will like to know about these universities in UK. In order not to derail the thread I will like to connect with you waynee2baba: Thanks a lot man. My initial plan was MSc at UCalgary. They my time too by saying I should chill and they'd assign a supervisor to me. I should have applied for a course-based Masters in other Unis. Admission process is quite cumbersome in Canada too. I even applied to couple of UK Universities and after 3 days.. I had about 5 of them offering up to 50% scholarship for my MSc. I ignored them cuz of Canada. Now 2 years PSW visa is back, I'm deffo prioritising the UK. Admission process in Canada is long, visa long... everything is just complicated lol. Anyway, no hard feelings. I wish y'all Good luck in your future ambitions. Wetin go be go be |

yes they were talking about my family ties. I don't know if you can give advice on how to show I have family ties. I am actually genuinely interested in coming back to better my country with anything I learn over there. waynee2baba: I don't think they count African countries as good travel history but travel history isn't even a major reason for refusal... people with virgin passports still get approved |

I also got my refusal letter on this same day with the same reason. I applied 6th of August. An additional reason in mine is that I don't have travel history which is clearly wrong because I schooled in Ghana (at least it's something). I feel the VO didn't even take time to view the application well. I will order for my GCMS note as I have seen people say on this forum. I plan on reapplying but I really don't know what more i can add to my application. Freshprince777: The refusal letter just dropped . Here are the reason for refusal. Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds: • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your travel history. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence. You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.
@Frank, @naijaforeigner,@justmellow and other gurus in the house Please how do i tackle this?
i applied on the 3rd August |

Congratulations dear shawama Wish you all the best in your endeavors. Enjoy trump land sharwama: SHARWAMA'S APPROVED VISA TRANSCRIPT. Date: June 7, 2019 Venue: Lagos Consulate Time:6:30 a.m Gender of VO: Male Window: I Didn't notice, I was blown away by his cuteness and jerry curl Ok it was the second to last window, before the exit door. I: (Smiling) Good morning sir V.O: Good morning, please pass me your passport and your I-20. I did and he was like "please push your passport a little bit further". I pushed it and asked, "is it okay now sir?" VO: Yes it is. Why are you going to the US I: (deep breath + killer smile) To uhm, pursue a masters degree in Biology, Biomedical Science Concentration at East Tennessee State University, Johnson City Tennessee. V.O: Why this degree? I: I really want to work as a research scientist at a renowned biomedical research Institute here in Nigeria. Unfortunately, a masters degree in Biology or a closely related field is the minimum requirement for such a position. So this degree would not just help me hone my research skills or build my critical thinking, it would qualify me for the position I really want, when I return. V.O: So why did you pick this school? I: (Gesticulating with magical hands) For me, it wasn't just about the generous funding I received, which I am extremely grateful for by the way, it had a lot more to do with the student-faculty relationship I have built with my potential supervisor, professor Burna boy. We Skyped a couple of times and we have chosen a thesis topic I am super excited about. V.O: What other schools did you apply to? I: I applied at Texas A&M University, Commerce VO: uhum(while typing) I: Cleveland State University Ohio and Kansas State University Manhattan Kansas. VO: Have you travelled out of the country before? I: I have not had the need to sir. VO: Are you married I: No sir V.O: You said you have funding, let me see the evidence I: My school did not give me an official letter but it's on the I-20(I pointed at the document so he looked at it) V.O: Ok I see $9590 to be payed by someone ,who is this? I: That's my mum sir V.O: What does she do? I: My mum is a business woman, she sells African fabrics and traditional bridal attires V.O: Yes do you have any proof, I want to see evidence. I was confused and he mentioned "or bank statement" I: (Killer smile)Yes, with all pleasure. Just a moment please. So I got the bank statement V.O(while looking at the statement) Doesn't your mum have other children to sponsor in school? I: (I never expected that question, so my English technically failed me, so I looked at him and answered) All of us have finished school, it remainder two of us. I was so embarrassed about my grammatical blunder but I was glad he understood the point, we were all done with school except two of my siblings. V.O: Ok, I will be approving your Visa. He hands me the white paper. Talked about pick up in three working days, gave me back my SOA and I-20, asked me to keep it carefully and I would need the latter at the port of entry... Told me to have a wonderful day I: (Killer smile) Thank you and have a wonderful rest of the day too. Yup, I bounced out of the building THE END |

What's the name of this school bro? makaba10: I was denied visa (again) on May 16, 2019 for being desperate. The VO was already angry. He denied a woman with a teenage boy on wheelchair and another woman who wants to visit his son. He was obviously angry with how the son got into the USA. VO: (with angry tone) You have applied 3 times, why are you here again. Me: my research interest has changed, and I also have a tuition scholarship and graduate assistantship. VO: (pick my I-20 again, read through, type and was a little calm) what did you study in undergraduate Me: Computer Engineering VO: what year did you finish Me: January 2016 VO: You want to go for your Masters after 3 years, so what have you been doing since then. Me: I did my NYSC for a year, worked at Company A for year, and I am concurrently working at company B. VO: Do you write any language. Me: Yes, I work with C# and JavaScript, I use React, Node.js and .NET. VO: (angrily) Alright, but I will be rejecting you again, the more you apply, the more it shows you are desperate to leave. Me: I scream oh no, but I pick my stuff and left. (I applied last year for MS in Software Engineering with no funding, I applied for visa in May 21 and August 4 for Fall 2018, and December 3, 2018 for Spring 2019 all with the same school and program. This year I am going to a different school for MS in Computer Science with a Specialization in Software Engineering with tuition scholarship and Graduate Assistantship covering 75% of the cost with only a deficit of $8500). |

Our dear shawama as spoken Sends e-hug back sharwama: My heart goes out to everyone who got hurt in here today. I wish I could hug you right now; you didn't deserve to be "casualties" of a war of words that should never have begun in the first place, a war you neither saw coming nor was "prepared" to fight. People often say "sticks and stones may break my bones but words would never hurt me". That's not true. Words spoken or written can hurt a lot. If someone gets hit by a bullet, chances are they'd survive if they get swift medical attention. I mean they could undergo surgery and the bullet could be taken out, right? But when words hit you, especially hurtful, harsh or bitter remarks, who do you run to? I mean surgeons can't stitch emotional wounds, they can't even see it, to start with. You are the only one who knows how much it hurts and where exactly it hurts. Sharwama believes words should be used to build people up and not tear them apart. She wishes people would be more careful with their choice of words. It's okay to call a spade a spade but HOW we call it, is also very important. No one has ever died from giving or receiving constructive criticism, maybe we could choose that more often. Maybe we could choose kindness more often. Maybe we could imagine walking in someone else's shoes more often... Once again, my heart goes out to anyone who got hurt in here today. I'm so sorry. I see you, I wrote this for you my friend. I hope this gets to you in time, I hope I'm not too late. May the force be with you! |

This ibadan immigration matter tire me o Please let's link up incase you can help me out with any information my passport as been with them for about 2 months now for renewal. SplendidGod: I'm a little bit confused as to what to do next. I received my I-20 form last week Friday and I'm supposed to pay my sevis fee and proceed with other visa matters. But my passport will expire in October and as such, I'll be needing a new passport for the visa interview. I have already started the process of getting a new one but it's really slow. In fact, the immigration officer here in Ibadan said the earliest time to receive the new passport will be by month end.
The question is, can I use my old passport number to start processing and scheduling for visa interview while I wait for the new one? Will it affect me in whatever way, going with a new passport on the day of the interview?
Guys, thank you for all your inputs on this thread. It has been worthwhile going through it and I pray every genuine student get his/her visa. |

congratulations. Great transcript NoelJunior: Good evening friends. I want to appreciate every member of this great platform. I’ve benefited immensely. I wish to share my Visa interview transcript (approved) Me: Good morning VO: Good morning. Pass your Passport and I-20 VO: Why are you going to the US? Me: I’m going to the US to pursue a Doctorate degree in Computer Science at the Manhattan Campus of Kansas State University VO: Why KSU? Me: From my findings, KSU has a very high research activity status. In fact, the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland and Security have designated the Centre for information of the University as a National Centre of Academic excellence in cyber defense research. The computer science three-pronged motto of world class faculty, world class education and world class research, coupled with the presence of three robust data science laboratories makes KSU a great platform for me to… (VO cuts in) VO: Tell me about your background Me: I hold a Bachelors of Science degree and majored in Statistics and Computer Science with a first class honors. I went further to study for Master of Science in Statistics VO: So why are you going for a PhD in Computer Science? Me: The world today is marked with an explosion of large volume of data, data that are potentially useful and informative but structurally complex and requires algorithms and techniques to determine the patterns/trends so as to aid effective decision making. I’d like to be a part of the research team that would develop novel techniques to unfold these complexities. I intend to achieve this by integrating my knowledge of statistics and computer programming VO: Are you married? Me: (Smiles) No, I’m not yet married VO: Okaaaay, your Visa is approved. {She passed me a white paper and my from I-20} Me: (Wider Smiles) Thank you {Got an email the following day to pick up my passport at the address I chose on the visa application which also reflected on the white paper she gave me}
Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!! I hope to read success stories in torrents. May God grant you uncommon favor in your interviews. Cheers! |

Congratulations once again. If you don't mind sharing. How much was on your bank statement? kinibd: I was denied the first time on December 31st 2018 at the Lagos Embassy, My original I 20 got to me on the 2nd of January and so I had to go with a scanned copy for the interview and the first question the VO asked me then was why did I come with a scanned copy, I told her that the original was still on transit and the look on her face was not encouraging and after asking me why this school and who will be sponsoring me, I got the pink paper and so I went back and requested for another I 20, made sure I got it then booked another interview at abuja
Got to the Abuja Embassy,
Me: Good morning (while smiling)
VO: Good morning pass me your passport please
Me: Passes Pasport while still smiling
VO: I can see from your F1 that you are applying for a student Visa can I see that
Me: Yes I am while passing the F1
VO: Have you ever been out of the country before?
Me : Yes I had my first degree in Ghana
VO: What did you study
Me: ICT
VO: What?
Me: Information and Communication Technology
VO: while typing...I dont see anything like that here
Me : I filled it in it should be there
VO: Oh i see it now...calls the name of my school and I nod then he asks how many schools gave me admission
Me : two schools
VO: what schools
Me: St Clouds State University and Concordia University St Paul
VO: Why did you choose St Clouds
Me: i chose St Clouds because of a couple of reasons, firstly they have a Business Computer Research Laboratory Equipped with workstations and enterprise level servers for research and teaching purposes and...
VO : cuts me off, yes well all schools in the usa have very good laboratories tell me why you chose this school
Me: well at the Laboratories at St Cloud, they create virtual machines that are used to support teaching database auditing and networking packets dumping and analyses and also...
VO: cuts me off again...well most schools have that as well
Me: Oh well then i chose them because they gave me a scholarship
VO: oh really, (looks at my I 20) well your scholarship is for $3000 and your total fees is about 19,000, how are you going to take care of the rest
Me: oh no, my Tuition and Fees is $9,500
VO: looks at I 20 again, okay so who is going to be paying for the rest
Me: My Parents
VO: what do they do
Me: My mom whose statement I have is blablabla
VO: I'm sorry what?
Me: my mom is blablabla and my dad is blablabla
VO: How did you hear about the school?
Me: One of my undergraduate course lecturer went to St. Clouds for a seminar and when he came back, he couldnt stop talking about the school and their laboratories and when i started searching for schools online to pursue my masters degree and St Cloud popped up again, i checked them out and the course they offered alligned with my career goals.
VO: Types for a while. Looks at me. So what are you going to be doing after you finish this program?
Me: The number of internet users in Nigeria has grown from about 20% of the population in 2010 to more than 50% of the population today and the more people that use the internet, the more networks there are, the more security there needs to be on them, this course will help me institute policies that protect organizations physical data and digital information and so i could become an IT consultant, I know i can, i tried to infuse what i learnt in my under graduate studies into my dads business by setting up a website and also creating a program that helps keep track of stock records.
VO: Can i see your bank statement
Me: passes it
VO: I am going to check this out and if I find anything wrong you will be banned from entering the USA, do you understand
Me: yes I do.
VO: types for a while, take this paper, (he gives me a white slip) you have to keep it safe because you will need it to enter the United States. Then he types for a while and gives me a yellow paper and says again if i find anything wrong with this account you will be banned, are you sure you still want to submit it
Me: Yes Sir
VO: okay welcome to the United States and make sure you keep that white slip safe ok
Me (while smiling) : okay sir thank you very much.
I hope this helps someone, I owe it all to God, I prayed like I had not prepared at all and I prepared like I had not prayed at all but its all the grace of God.
Last Bullet: I was so tensed the first time and so while rehearsing my answers for the second time, i noticed that smiling made me more relaxed and that was how i was able to overcome any nervousness, by smiling almost all through the interview. |
