Tuition is paid per term and I have four terms, a friend advised me to get money for the first term and I can apply for funding for the other terms while I am there. I'd appreciate any information any available scholarship or a means to get funding and do not want to miss this opportunity. Thanks |

Congratulations. I tap into your blessing for mine as well Daringtohope: I posted my transcript about F2 visa rejection in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. I decided to reapply immediately, and I was able to get a date in Abuja. The screening process was quite long and tedious compared to Lagos. Also, my baby was a bit restless, so I kept moving back and it took a while for my turn. This is the transcript of the interview as I can remember it;
VO: Good afternoon.
Me: Good afternoon Ma.
VO: Pass me your passport.
I gave her our passports and I-20s. She took her time to go through the I-20 and typed for a while.
VO: Where is husband studying?
Me: He is studying Molecular Biology in the University of ABC.
VO: How long have you been married?
Me: We have been married for 4 years it will be 5 years in a few months.
VO: How many children do you have?
Me: We have one child.
VO: Has he visited since he left?
Me: Yes, he visited us in August of last year.
VO: I can see that there is a shortfall in the living expenses on the I-20, how do you pay the rest?
Me: My husband has full funding and we have some personal savings.
She excused herself and left the cubicle with the passport and I-20 for about 5 minutes. While she was away, I was worried that maybe she was not convinced about the funding. Therefore, when she came back, I quickly said;
Me: I have the funding letter from his school here, would you like to see it?
VO: That wouldn’t be necessary (while smiling).
VO: Was he working before he left for the United States?
Me: He was working as a lecturer, and he is currently on study leave.
VO: What will you be doing in the U.S?
Me: I will be busy raising my child as well as providing physical and emotional support for my husband.
VO: Have you traveled before?
Me: No, I have not had a reason to travel.
VO: Do you or your husband have any relatives in the United States?
No: We don’t have any relatives in the U.S.
VO: I will be approving your visa. Please excuse me I need to get a document for you.
Me: Thank you Ma. (I few tears of joy rolled down from my eyes.)
She left and came back with a document containing instruction for student visa applicants stating that students are only allowed to enter U.S 30 days before the start of the program and not after the start date on the I-20. It also contains a reminder to take along and present I-20 at the port of entry.
I give all praises and thanks to Almighty Allah. I prayed fervently, did several mock interviews, and prepared written answers to likely questions. I big thank you to everyone on this thread. I learned a lot from here. By the way, I use full hijab that covers me from head to toe. I hope this will encourage and be useful for someone. |

Congratulations bro. Yet you didn't drop the name of the school alexohams2000: Hello, I sure will drop the transcripts, missed three weeks of lectures so trying so hard to catch up... before I drop that when I am free, points to note, first, my interview was not in Nigeria, the questions were just so spontaneous, totally different from what's in here but then haven prepared exceptionally for the usual questions, I swept through.
As for my Initial AP status, I spent almost three weeks waiting and praying, but the the inspiration/advise came and I bombarded the embassy with emails and next day they acted, all thanks to God it came out positive. My advise to anyone future AP 'victim', please, wait for the embassy for like a week, if you don't hear from them, e-mail them and cal. Ignore that shit in that paper telling you not to contact until after 60 days, I mean...
My experience so far in brief: Education pass education, there's almost no education in Nigeria, don't come here and argue with me before I vex oo. My first lecture here, I almost weeped for my country and continent. Nigeria is still farrrrrr.
My school needs more African students though, we are about 10 here from Africa and 4 of us are Nigerians. I am the only graduate student here from Nigeria and in coming weeks I will be officially going around different states/localities that have notable African communities to create awareness...beginning with Houston here.
May God bless Nigeria! May God bless Africa! God has blessed America mehn!!!!!! |

GboyegaD: Most application deadlines are fast approaching nonetheless, I would suggest you find schools you might meet up with their deadline and try engage the graduate director for your program. You might be able to get a waiver to turn in your GRE score a little later than the deadline. Remember to let him know there are a very few centres in Nigeria as such, it takes a while to get a slot. Thanks so much, I will do this |

Olalekank: Step 1: Open your browser Step 2: Type in www.Google.com Step 3: Type in "good schools in the US that offer funding for MSC" Step 4: Open a link, check the schools, talk with the program coordinator on funding information Step 5: Repeat Step 4 for many other schools
It's not easy to wait for someone to come and start positing schools that offer funding. Some things are better left for you to research. Come on, you're going for grad admission. Good points. Fellow CS guy here. Do you think it's reasonable to work my admission for masters in computer science toward fall 2019 even though I am preparing to take GRE in March. I hope to get funding |

I have a question to ask, i just graduated late last year and mobilization for batch A is by February this year but I'm considering leaving that of batch A in order to raise some money to learn a digital skill and then go with batch B. Pls is this a good idea or i should join the batch A streamline? Get started with nysc as soon as possible and at the same time try to learn a digital skill. You don't need so much money to learn a digital skill these days. With Internet data and determination you will be fine |
