Most of the stories u see on the internet are not exactly wat they are. Pls nobody should react based on wat the op posted. The couple got married in my neighborhood in benin city and its unfortunate d circumstance that lead to the death of the husband. However there were a lot of issues prior to d man's funeral that were poorly managed that lead to having the daughter having to stay with the man's family. These issues from all I know could hv been resolved within family elders, an option both families hv nt embraced. The daughter is not been kidnapped. Every problem has a solution. I am of the opinion that it is best for the daughter to be with the mother.
Good. Now communicate it to the man’s family. Tell them to return the daughter. As a parent I can’t imagine the pain she must be going through. Mourning her husband at a young age, dealing with possibly a life long disability, no child to hold unto for hope and joy. That child to her right now is everything. Please let mother and child be reunited. Suddenly taking the child from both parents can even affect the child psychologically. The new environment and the way people will treat the child. The attention and care of good parents will definitely be lacking. The child not seeing the father again and no mother to explain what happened will be so traumatizing. They need each other to get through this.

In as much as I can't asses her physical condition from online, so are you. You're in no position to offer any assessment or opinion regarding her medical condition either way. But if I am correct, the writer alluded to the fact that the mother is bedridden So, I guess you read the article and failed to understand the meaning of "Bedridden"
Whether she’s bedridden or not! Someone is providing care for her. The child can stay with the mother and the caregiver. The mother has her mental faculties in tact and she can say whether she is capable of taking care of her child. More than likely she will give custody of that child to her own relative if she wants to. The husbands family know this, that is why they have resorted to kidnapping. As long as she’s alert, return her child to the mother.

I can't agree with you more...her parental right supersedes any other rights including the grandparents, however, if she's in no condition to fulfill that role [unless she has her own family member(s) willing to take on that burden], it would be in the best interest of that child to stay temporarily in the care of the grandparents.
You cannot say whether she’s in the best position to take care of the child as you cannot assess the situation from online. Wheel chair bound people take very good care of their children. So she can take care of her child. Obviously she is getting care from somewhere now and it’s possibly her family members. Who more than likely don’t have as much power as the man’s family. Let her child remain with her and her family so she can see her child daily. The man’s mother should be the ones visiting to see her grandchild or begging for the child to come and spend time with her. Not snatching and kidnapping the child form the mother. Something the grandma will obviously never take if same was done to her.

MaNyEsq:
First thing first...she needs to take care of her health. Then when she is in a better position both physically and financially to take care of her child, then she can go to court to fight for the custody of her child. Based on your statements, she can't even take care of the child due to her physical [bedridden] condition. In most jurisdiction including Nigeria, the role of the court in child custody cases is to look out for the best interest of a child. As a birth mother, she has more right over the child than the deceased husband's family [grandparents]. So, my advice to her is to focus on getting well and after that, wage a child custody battle with the inlaws.
It is her place to appoint someone to take care of the child if she can’t as a surviving parent. Since she is being taken care of adequately and she knows she can take care of her child then the court cannot deny her, her parental right which is far greater than any relative. Her rights come first!

Kylekent59:
In the bus is very wrong

On the bus is the right words to use.

A bus has space and passengers can move around.

When there is space to move around, we use "on"

on the bus, on the train, on a boat, ....e.t.c. ( when it comes to transportation)
I am on a boat

I am on a bus

We us "in" if the space is confined. there is no movement, you enter and come off.

In a car, In a canoe... e.t.c.

I am in the car

I am in a canoe.

The only time you use "in the bus" is when you left an object or material( now it's not about transportation but location)

I left my bag in the bus.
I left my bag on the bus is also used and correct.

No body cares what your family feels about the Wife. Give her back her child and her husbands property or you will be charged with kidnapping. Useless greedy creatures. It cannot be more than money. Hungry mofos. If you people are not all collectively suffering from madness, how can you justify stealing a child away from a parent that needs the child? Did the mother ask for your help? How did you people even get access to the child enough to have the guts to deny the child’s mother her own child. If you have a mother perpetrating this wicked act. You should be afraid because if you die, the same wickedness will be visited on your wife and kids.

Lmaoooo. I use both interchangeably. English is such a complicated and confused language. If not that colonialist forced it on the world it would have gone extinct. Even native English speakers struggle to get it right. Our traditional languages are even better at describing actual situations than English.

I didn't school in Ife but was surprised one late evening a coaster bus full of OAU students came to the house opposite where we lived to arrest two brothers who were accused of cultism and complicity in the shooting at Ife. The two guys got a tip off earlier and scaled the fence of their house but their parents were caught and dragged into the bus by the students. One of the two brothers (don't want to mention names) read Geology and the other was in engineering. Their parents were a bit connected and their father was luckily released by police men at the Lagos Toll gate that night. That was the last time, we ever saw those two guys. I know they didn't complete their education in Ife. I learnt later they were sent to the US by their parents(can't confirm this pls). Their names were published in the Punch newspaper by police as being wanted for questioning in the cult shooting at Ife. I had finished my BSC then at UNN and came home for my NYSC!!

May the soul of the departed RIP.

I wish to add that the behaviour of the two brothers then, their licentious lifestyle and friends smacks of cultism. There's no way I could vouch for their innocence. When their names and pictures were published on the pages of the punch newspaper, no one on the entire street were surprised.

There is nothing good ...absolutely nothing good comes out of cultism!!
It’s obvious that a lot of the accused changed their names and probably traveled abroad or are keeping a low profile abroad. The truth is whether they escape judgment in the eyes of everyone they will never escape judgment in the eyes of God. Wale Omole should be arrested and prosecuted before he dies. What a useless man. To snuff the lives out of these students for what? And all he gets is a sack.

Have you ever gone abroad and seen a mad person take care of a child?

A child is not a property to be possessed.

The well being of the child is ultimate and will be considered first..
I have gone and lived abroad. Mentally ill people take care of their children. Disabled like this woman take care of their children. If you know something about this case, go and return the child to the mother ASAP.

She cant take care of the child...

For now
What gives you the right to tell her that she cannot take care of her child? Even blind and mad people take care of their children. The woman said she wants her child, giver her the child. With her husband dead, that child will be the only source of her happiness.

I am sure it is the man’s mother holding on to that child as a memory for the loss of her child. But she’s not sympathetic towards another woman who needs her own child. Very wicked people.
Family › Re: Battle For Child Custody For A Deceased Friend by 2mch(m): 4:17pm On Jul 10, 2019
What are people saying she is bedridden so she should forget her child? A little child of 2? Even seeing the child will help her healing process. What if one bastard is abusing the child where they kept her.
She may be bedridden but she is still a mother and she loves her child. She is also alive so there is no reason why anyone should hold onto her child. Please go to media houses and appeal to the state government for help. May God punish those who seek to make this lady die from frustration and pain. Nigerians always feeling they know best for someone else. On something that is not their life experience.

For issue of school fees, one always have the option of deferring a semester or two to go hustle out his/her school fees. I recall a mechanical engineering student of Unizik some years back, who had to leave school for a while because of finances to go work full-time at the construction site of Davis Suite(Hotel) in New Haven Enugu when it was being built and the next compound to mine back then. This guy lived on site with other artisans throughout the construction of the hotel and we became friends. He went back to school to finish and he is presently working for Forchbahn AG, a railway company in Zurich, Switzerland.

People have their own stories and have made tough decisions.
Leave the goat. He thinks the people that contribute here are just swimming in cash. When some of them wake up 5am to go and work and then find the strength to attend school.
