If you see any trace that your intending is a compulsive gossip, please run from him/her. Gossiping is a very very very terrible and life threatening Vice.

I know someone like this. She even reports the husband business to his enemies. She will be gossiping negatively about the husband to his own friends and enemies. OP if you have no children please run away from her. Your wife should not be the one showing your yansh in public. If you have children read her the riot act and give her last warning. If you hear your business outside again, the marriage is over. Such people will kill you from disgrace and shame, with HBP. You won’t even be able to stand amongst your mates without them laughing at you. Such people have no limit and can’t mentally understand the terrible impact of their actions. All they think about is how to spite their husband.

this is the problem with many Nigerians, you think talk and act emotionally rather than critically and logically! because I speak my truth means I delight in it?

The 1st path to change is to accept there is a problem and a need for change, you and many Nigerians havent. When you are still defensive and refusing to accept your condition, you are far away from turning the corner. An alchoholic or a drug addict cannot clean himself until he accepts he has a problem, many dont. The journey to recovery is hard but you cannot start until you accept you have a problem and the longer you live in denial the worse your problem becomes....this is the summation of Nigeria!!!

Which country in the world have you seen that has made progress that behaves like we do? The path of Nigeria is no different from that of an alchoholic or a drug addict, the end result with our mindset is assured, destruction is inevitable....it's only a matter of time, the signs are there already. if you like abuse me and continue like an ostrich burying your head in the sand it wont change the future !!

Fela sang songs 40 years ago that are very apt today, that tells you that the problem isnt our leaders (because they have changed many times) but us as Nigerians. You need a certain pysche for nationhood and development...we dont have that mindset as a people...our problem is not our leaders. Leaders will only go as far as the people will tolerate....remmember that! Dont let anyone fool you, every leader everywhere fear the people more than anything else. If your leaders dont fear you, it says something about you the people!! No leadership survives a people's revolt, at the very least they change.

This is the selfish mindset of the Nigerian as sang by Fela about Nigerians 40 years ago....any different from today's Nigerian?

"My people self they fear too much
We fear for the thing we no see
We fear for the air around us
We fear to fight for freedom
We fear to fight for liberty
We fear to fight for justice
We fear to fight for happiness
We always get reason to fear:
We no wan die
We no wan wound
We no wan quench
We no wan go
I get one child
Mama dey for house
Papa dey for house
I wan build house
I don build house
I no want quench
I want enjoy
I no wan go
Ah!
So policeman go slap your face
You no go talk
Army man go whip your yansh
You go they look like donkey
Rhodesia they do them own
Our leaders they yab for nothing
South Africa they do them own"

That is a man who understands the Nigerian pysche!!!
You have a lot of personal issues that you need to deal with. None of your rants has to do with Nigerians. You over generalize and say a lot of rubbish.

face the truth, if you dont like being described as evil people or your country as a shithole then do something about it.

Good people can have bad rulers for a short period but only bad people endure bad rulers for as long as Nigeria has! The truth hurts!!

the way you have reacted is exactly why Nigeria never makes progress, you "reject it" "over my dead body" "it's your family not mine" etc etc

The average Nigerian is a crook, is selfish, is wicked and does not care about his fellow man or his community, only himself. even his religiousness is only about himself, praying/fasting for husband/child, sickness or money....matters that affect self! How many times have you prayed for the country? This is why we have the country we have!
It’s like you are not a Nigerian but delight in railing against the country. I am not as you described. If that is the Nigerians that you have encountered then it shows your upbringing and the people you associate with. You can be taken advantage of by anyone in the world.

I don't live or work in that axis.

The toll on 3rd mainland bridge actually makes more sense than where it is now. And to think that they are 3!

Only God knows the uproar that will happen when/if they attempt to activate the other 2.
Im my opinion, one at third mainland and the second at Lekki is fine. That Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge falls under the Lekki toll.

Gather all your family members to fight this war. All these old agbaya’s that have joined government to chop security money in years past and, will refuse to say the truth. They always think the evil they encourage and support will not reach their door step one day. For every security vote stolen, every fund looted... you and your family members are one step away from disaster. He has probably eaten enough so he will be alright. As for Buhari and his incompetent service chiefs and insincere motives, disaster is lurking for you.

Now the chicken has come home to roost. Whose children will fight your war? The ones being killed daily and nothing was ever done about it?

That's the problem, we always want to compare and justify what clearly is not needed with other places where things work.

Not been to NY but most of the modern cities I have been to don't have toll in cities, most have tolls interstate which is understandable.

Nigeria is a country where most people feed on what they make for that day and all these electronic devices are only convenient for the 1% rich few which is insignificant to the problem it would cause for the majority.

Am not even taking our peculiarities into consideration.

That toll is unnecessary in that axis.
In my opinion, the toll should be on third mainland. The bridge really needs the funds and needs money for a second third mainland bridge.

By the way, if you live and work in that axis you should be able to afford the toll. If you can’t then you take BRT. The BRT should have their designated toll lanes too.

Which western state that they will toll residential area so that every time you leave your house you must pay toll? 2 abi 3 tolls on that same road, although they don't have the liver to open the others. That toll should be at the outskirts of epe.

If they say they want to use it to maintain the road, I will not argue with them even though that line has been overused. October is not far, by God's grace we will be here to witness what will happen.
In NY, if you want have access to Manhattan you must go by toll. Lekki, VI and Ikoyi axis is similar. It’s the highbrow and commercial areas. There are alternate routes which of course are not convenient for a reason. In fact I noticed that when using satnav in America you are automatically routed through the toll, if you don’t specifically choose not to go through it. All governments Na scam.

In face when passing the toll you might not even know you just passed toll.

Alternate routes indeed!

What do you say about tolling residential areas like lekki and ikoyi?
Well from my understanding they are using the toll gates to recoup investment of the contractors. I could be wrong on that though. I have been to big cities in the west and there are toll gates when going from one area to the next. Having a car is a luxury in most big cities so they try to discourage car ownership and encourage public transport.

The tolls also help maintain the infrastructure especially in high traffic cities like Lagos. Infrastructure is bound to wear down really fast when there is such a high level of usage. To stay in a big city is not supposed to be cheap

Somebody gets to the barrier and for some reason has not paid the barrier refuses to open for him, meanwhile there are already like 20 cars behind honking. By the time they realise what's going and decide to manoeuvre to another lane the chaos starts.
Well they will have attendants there to collect the cash and manually open the barrier. That is common sense. We can’t have free toll gates. The state will lose a lot of money. Some people are even carrying fake plates.

Thanks for these sane replies unlike that unfortunate imbeccile.

The scanned plates make sense.

I just feel taxing people everyday for leaving and coming back to their houses is just not fair at all, considering they already pay tax.

Why mount tolls in a mostly residential area?
There are alternate routes.
Politics › Re: Lekki, Ikoyi Toll Gates To Go Electronic From October - Sanwo-Olu by 2mch(m): 6:31pm On Jul 12, 2019
Good. This will work if well thought out. The toll barriers need to stay there because we don’t have adequate records to send people their toll bills at home. So, if they don’t have tag, the toll barriers don’t open. Otherwise we will have people speeding through without ever paying.

Tourists =\= Foreigners, typing otherwise will NOT make it true. That’s how facts work. Next time before you argue with someone’s post, take the time to actually read and comprehend, fact check your opinions, then post a rejoinder. Do not be in a haste to be emotional or confirm your biases and start going on a tangent that has absolutely nothing to do with what the poster said. It serves this thread no purpose.

I actually agree with you, this back and forth makes no sense, there is a break in communication, you seem not to understand my posts.
Where did you see news that Lagos beaches suffer from lack of patronage? You are saying trash. What you meant is foreign tourist dollars.

lol where is the backlash? From one ignorant person that doesn’t even know the meaning of the word ‘tourist’? You thought tourist meant foreigners, I only mentioned ‘locals’ when I said “Lagos beaches should be developed first for people that live in Lagos to enjoy before you worry about foreign tourists looking for prostitutes”. My posts are up there on this thread, go back and read them.
When people say Tourists in any tourism location, the target is foreigners. I am tired of this dumb argument. If you don’t know this then you don’t know what you are saying at all. That is why they say tourists and locals. I don’t think the locals complained to you that the beaches are not good enough so they don’t go to the beaches. Again, you started lying about your intentions when I pointed out your intentions. Anyway, arguing with you is pointless. Nothing you can do.

lol don’t project your lack of comprehension unto me. I posted my comments and it’s your choice to comprehend and respond. It’s not my fault you misunderstood and you went off on some wild tangent about prostitutes and ancestral lands. Lagos beaches still have a lot of work to do to reach its full potential.

Modified: OP, apologies for derailing this thread, I hope people will continue to post beautiful pictures of Lagos beaches.
I didn’t misunderstand you. You didn’t expect a backlash on the dumb idea. No one ever said tourist and meant locals. Except you don’t know the meaning of tourist. You were obviously judging from the amount of people who visit the beach by the pictures.

I don’t want to derail this beautiful thread, we are both going in circles and you keep thinking the beaches have to be like Miami before Lagos beaches can be more utilized.

As I said before, Nigerians might be going to the beaches before my ancestors but how many? Most of the beaches are dirty and poorly maintained, for some, the access to get there can be treacherous or the agberos that are posted there. If enough people do not go, how much money can they make from entrance fees? You just want to make this tribal and argue, deep down you know Lagos coastlines have not lived up to its potential.
We both know you didn’t mean this. LOL. A lot of Nigerians go to those beaches every weekend! It has been that way for years! I don’t think you live in Nigeria. Do you know how populated Lagos is? A lot of them go to the beach every weekend. If beach owners sell their beaches they can’t even make as much as they make now. When that money they sold it for finish, they will start making life hell for beach goers. grin

Nigerians may have been going to the beach before my ancestors existed, doesn’t meant it isn’t still underutilized. Indigenous vendors and beach owners don’t make enough for what the coast is worth. Money is left on the table. You don’t have to sell your beaches or your heritage to get full value of what your beaches are worth. Simple.
I don’t think you know what you are talking about. How else can beach owners make money if not from entrance fees and vendors? You want them to build hotels on the beach and invite foreigners. Then when they stop you from going to the beach because you look like ashewo coming to disturb the hotel occupants and foreigners you will start crying and protesting. I have traveled to countries that rely on tourism, it’s not as glorious as you make it sound. In fact it’s terrible for the locals. They can’t enjoy their beaches without harassment. Things get so expensive and the local boys and girls have a high rate of prostitution

Nigerians have been going to those beaches before your grandfather was born. Vendors and beach owners make money. So, which other tourist could you be looking for? You want us to sell it so that we can now be looking at the beach from the TV. All these hungry and desperate villagers sha!
Then you will turn around with your dead comments and insult Lagosians for selling everything. There are some things that exist for social and mutual enjoyment

No I won’t get away from your comments, if you can’t handle the heat then don’t post on a public forum.

Again, you are not the spokesman for indigenous Lagosians, your primitive and archaic opinions are yours. We are talking about Lagos beaches being developed enough for people in Lagos to use and stimulate the Lagos economy, you are talking about prostitutes and ancestral lands huh
So right now they are not developed enough for you to enjoy? What other development are you looking for? Foreigners? You are not smart enough for me to discuss with you. You definitely did not mean Nigerian tourists. Well, you can continue talking rubbish here. It’s obvious you come from a place where you have nothing and you are hungry looking for money by all means everywhere.
