i am sorry to say that it's HER life, HER choices and therefore i would have no say in the matter because SHE is the only one that will live that life (thats if i had a sista of course)

people should live with the consequences of their actions. . . . . . if she decided that it was ok to stay in this r/ship, knowing fully well that it was NOT marriage bound, then she has only herself to blame in this story.
This seems personal to you. Dude, are you Blackcat 1 grin grin grin grin. Yea right, am sure you will be silently strategizing how to off the guy except you dont have sisters. No one wants to see their sisters in pain and cry. Not to talk of your daughters. Before you lead anyone on, remember that your daughter could be in that situation. What if she commits suicide? Some people kill themselves over stuffs like this. I think people should be open, firm and fair in their dealings as early as possible. If you know you cant marry her, stop kpoxing her. A psycho will kill you one day you mess with the wrong person. undecided

And you seriously think shifty eyes and body language work on Nigerian liars?

Ok when a school mails you statement of result, attendance and academic trasncript every semester and your son also presents receipts, what is there for you to want to confirm from the school

Do you want to go and confirm if what they sent you was right?

How did some kids from closely knit families become cultist and aristos in school.
Is lying different in every country? A lie is a lie. A parent knows when their kids lie, even if they defend them in a court case. They are only being the parent that does not want to lose a child. When you have a child that you are involved with you know. My child will never try that, because they will know baba is very active about what goes on in their lives and checks on their progress. Yes, it is not too much for me to go at the end of every school year. I am the one paying the school fees. Without him even knowing i can have the school send the results to my office. With the way all our schools are becoming wired and connected a lot of information is now online. And this goes back to kids that claim they got admission that the parents never bother to check if it was true. Simply buying a newspaper or checking online will suffice if you are too lazy to go to the school. Anyone spending my money owes me an account. I can be generous with pocket money but will never play with my child's future. If you intend to raise your children that way, then that is your perogative. Everyone is different. undecided. But every parent will get the blame if their child fails. That is expected.

Definitely you didnt grow up in Nigeria which body movement or shifty eyes?

By age 13, I knew how to lie glibly while keeping eye contact.

All those scope na fr Oyinbos

Why would you want to go to examination records again when the "school sends the statement of results to your mailbox" that shows your kid is a 2-1 student and of good behaviour
There is no way that you can deceive your parents long enough if they are involved and you come from a close family. they know when you lie even if you think you have escaped. Why will a parent not go to the school and go to the office of records? If you do that once a year, the child will not dream of bringing fake results. That is what we are saying about a parent being involved. Yes, i grew up in naija and naija to the very core. Even school sef. Na my papa teach me this sense o. Dem never born the pickin. That you were once 20 doesnt mean you can nab a current 20yr old child.

You were 20 over 20yrs ago and many things have changed. There are some video games that 5-7yrs olds operate that I cant. Should I say i should know their tricks because I was once 7yrs old?

When my dad was 20, there was no computers never mind internet. many parents who have kids that are over 20 now dont even know how to use Computers and internets effectively

I remember when one of my cousin was trying to get admission abroad via the internet his dad told him no one can ever get admission through the internet. Why because he was using his own intelligence of over 30yrs ago where the Schools would have to write to you and you go and meet their representative.

A parent that sees receipt how could he or she have imagined that those receipts were fake.

A father who receives statement of results in mail, How should he need to go to the HOD again to verify what has been sent?
Did your parents not have your matriculation ID or record of your admission and acceptance into school? My father has all our originals. Everything. The man is so meticulous, and has all our information to date. You cannot simply scam the man. He even used to set traps for us. He makes the effort. And always makes sure he paddies with an adult in our location and some teachers constantly selling us out for some egunje. A parent does not have to be technologically savvy. There is wisdom that comes with age, which children can never ever have. That beats any kind of cunning any day. A parent is responsible, period. If the child fails, you get the blame. Not because other children did not fail, the others were simply more considerate. Like all fingers are not the same, so are all children. It is the parents duty and responsibility. If you fail at that, then you have yourself to blame. A 16 or 15 year old is too young to know what is best for him. And as long as anyone relies on my money, you can bet your arse that your privacy is out the window. If you want privacy, get a scholarship or become the next steve jobs or bill gates. Even den sef gan, i will still follow up. Till i die. grin cheesy. My children must succeed, because so i can feel fulfilled and successful in life. Be they mechanic or whatever they choose to pursue. cheesy

Something as simple as going to the office of records with their matriculation number and your ID, is enough. cheesy grin. When you as a parent is street wise and work hard for your money, no child that is comfortable can scam you. none. Na you born your pickin, you know when they are lying by their body movement. Something as small as shifty eyes or stammering sef is enough to raise suspicion.

You think you can outsmart a 20yr old?

If I was the kid, my parent wont nab me for that kain thing

If they ask for receipt, I would produce it, if they ask for transcripts I would produce it even without being in school

All he needs to do is to get the format of the school receipt and trascripts from his friends and with #400 you would make an exact replica of it.

And present to your parents

I knew a time when UNILAG was mailing statement of results to your home address directly

Some students either changed their home address with the school authorities or intercepted the statement of result and planted the fake statement of result there.

I knew a guy who was sending his parents statement of result till he was supposed to graduate.

It was when his name didnt come out on the published graduation list in Newspapers that his father went to his Department and found out he had issues since year 2.

No matter how smart you think you are, you would never be smarter than some mischievious kids
When the suspicion came up, she could have easily gone and done this. no? huh. At least a random visit here and there should be done. At least bi anually to the HOD. I know some parents so involved that the lecturer's know these kids and even encourage them to do well because they see the parents are so active and concerned. Even if it is to go to the teachers sometimes with gifts. Even without the kids knowing. Just to check up on their academic progress. Every parent is responsible for their child and get the blame if the child fails. You dont hands off a child's future and pretend to care when they fail. Also most Nigerians are still little kids when they enter uni. Average age is 16. What do you think a 16 year old is interested in in uni? books? think again. More like girls, fast cars and party. So it is up to the parent to steer them in the right direction. No wonder a lot of kids are LovePeddlers and yahoo yahoo. undecided

Asking for or even seeing the receipts wouldnt have stopped the kid from dropping out of school.
It is no excuse that a parent should pay any amount and have no account of where or what is being done with the money. All parents should be involved in their kids lives at all levels. You cannot hands off and then become involved with the kid gets into trouble that could have been prevented. If she doesnt care what he does with her money, then what does she care when he bleeps up his life? There are ways to get around investigating if school fees are paid. The parent can go to the school. Nigerian schools are too greedy not to have account of paid school fees. They are very active in chasing peeps from school if you dont pay. Or withholding results. The school has records otherwise they will not be able to provide transcripts or cummulative graduating grades.

^^^^^^ 2mch feelings that did not develop in 10 yrs would now develop in 3 months, naaaaaa!!!!!! it will not happen.
The guy is lying about not having any feelings for the girl for 10years. did his family find and toast the girl for him? Did they force him into the relationship? If he is willing to tell the truth here and confess to the other relationships he has had concurrently you will be surprised. Knock on wood, dude has a woman of interest that has diverted his feelings suddenly. Something shiny and new. Now he has come to the conclusion that all those years were pity. It makes it easy for him to justiify and dispose the girl. He is just looking for confirmation and balls here. Old babe is probably aware, and is not willing to sacrifice her investment in the dude for anyone. He should just be truthful to himself. He would have chased this girl away a long time ago if he seriously did not have any feelings for her. 10years?! He is pitying her but i bet he is still chopping her too. Pity sex abi? huh. He is as much to blame as she is.
Family › Re: Would You Marry A Girl You Don't Love Out Of Pity After Dating Her For 10 Years? by 2mch(m): 5:04pm On Nov 30, 2011
Everyone hopes for a long marriage. Are you willing to keep pitying someone for an average of 30years? Break it off firmly and at the same time compassionately. Make sure you explain well that you dont love or have any feelings for her. That all this has been pity and family pressure. Just do it gradually and with time she will move on. Before you break up make sure you analyze the situation properly and look at her well. If she will make a good mother and wife then try to find it in your heart to give her a chance, and try to give it a chance. Give a 6 month trial to where she is the only one you are dating and focus on the relationship to see if your feelings change. If it doesnt then break it up. I suspect you are juggling so many ladies at once, and this is making your eyes closed to the possible jewel and blessing in your life. If you did not love her in the first instance then how did you find yourself in a relationship? Try to rekindle that love and get rid of other girl friends for now. There is something your family is seeing that you are not seeing. They know you as much as you know yourself. cool

Who here is saying mechanics are poor? Uh, you are looking at aiye ati jo? Mechanics are self employed legitimate 419. Know quite a few with more than one wife and living comfortably. Afterall people of this days cannot do without driving cars which depreciate and spoil. Especially in naija with our second hand cars. mechanics are always available to scam. So people should stop looking down on technical people, they make a very decent living. Not everyone has to be a doctor, lawyer or accountant to live well undecided. I am also interested in what he did with the school fees, housing allowance, school book money, pocket money and project or lab money for 3 years shocked. That is a lot of money. Did he run from school because of cult activities? Or he was living large spending on girls with the money. Of course he is two years old. A full grown adult that knows the consequences of his actions will not behave that way. I am sure with 7 kids this woman's money is over stretched. A child creating such a burden on the parents is showing that he is not capable of being treated like an adult. You teach people how to treat you. And if he is going to rely on his parents for food, clothes, and school fees at 24 then he will have to take what ever humiliation and treatment they give him. Otherwise, there is space in oshodi for any future area boy.

Also if he chooses to go to school again, go by yourself and pay the school fees. Make sure you have an impact in his life and monitor his progress. Get to know his teachers, time table and the curriculum. Get access to his results sheets, either by close contacts with the teachers or having access to any online result database the school may use. It may be humiliating to him but he has lost his right to privacy, and trust the day he "STOLE" 3 years worth of school fees. He should also be made to pay back that money by doing a lot of house work to keep him busy and away from the younger siblings. You have too many children by the way madam, this rotten egg can spoil the whole bunch. He may be your favorite, but you have to carry the stick now. He has lost trust, and has disappointed you all and himself. It will take a lot of hard work for him to regain that.

I am with Outstrip on this. She hit the nail on the head! GBAM! There is no way that in 4-5years of this boy going to school that you did not suspect something was not adding up. Maybe with 7 kids you are too busy to pay attention. But not all children are the same. Some need help and close supervision more than others. I am against the sending abroad issue, you are only going to create a problem that will lodge itself abraod. He will now get the freedom to truly misbehave and waste your money. You are also reinforcing in him the fact that failure is ok, mummy and daddy will find an alternative for you whenever you fail. Also know that your other kids are learning and watching how you handle this issue. The only thing that works with kids like this is tough love. He is a man now, and should be prepared to earn his meal. It is either he goes back to school or finds a job. He can start as an apprentice in a mechanic shop if he thinks he is too big for school. This is the problem with kids that are too smart sometimes. They become too smart for their own good and arrogant. At the same time the parents think that they dont have to worry about that particular child. Just let him know that as you are leaving for work in the morning, you want to see him leave for work too. Everyone should leave the house and go to work or school. If he refuses then for his future and for your future or life (children handicapped in life skills can be the cause of your death tomorrow), send him packing. It is your house not his. He either abide by the rules or live on the streets. undecided

You are not useless in any way shape or form. Everyone has something to contribute/ is good at something. You sound like a depressed person, so you need to take it easy. Just relax and think of how you can make the best out of your current situation. Despite how bad your father seems right now, he is doing you a big favour. As a man he does not want you to be a liability all your life, he is giving you enough to survive and move around to find your way. Look at it, if you have been spoiled to this age and they kept spoiling you, what incentive do you have to be your own man? It does not help any parent to spoil their male children especially because the world is not a forgiving one or a spoilt brats play ground. Sooner or later your parents will be gone, what will you do? If you dont know how to struggle for yourself or manage finances then you will run out of your inheritance and then huh. The man is helping you grow and become your own man. I am sure if you do some research and come up with a viable business plan in which he sees opportunity he will help you out financially. Just relax, take some time to think about your next move and adjust your behavior in anticipation of your financial request. cheesy. Goodluck to you. Make sure you dont walk with the wrong people, who already believe you are a child with a silver spoon and they will come up with all sorts of business plans to scam you. shocked shocked shocked. Were you assistant boyfriend or just a friend? Because if you were a friend without having anything intimate to do with her, then by all means go on. BUT, if you were a friend or assistant boyfriend, hahahaha, guy you better find someone else. Are you comfortable with the fact that she can so blatantly juggle two boys and convince you to accept that? Also, the fact that she even told you everything about the relationship? This does not look like she has any respect for who you are. You are just the alternative. If that guy agreed to marry her she will have put acid in your eye if you tried to continue or she may have just continued keeping you in case the marriage fails and wasting your time. You are just a very good friend who has met a girl desperate to get married. I dont think the feeling you have for her is mutual. Maybe when you are married and you have problems having kids she will convince you to let her shack up with someone else for a child while telling you the other person's performance/ ability. tongue. It does not look like you have too much self esteem. cheesy

@OP,

I forgot to add by the way, if she was wayward she will not humble herself to learn fashion designing and get a job. These are rare qualities in naija girls. She could have just gotten a sugar daddy to take care of all these things. But rather she is willing to work and save to go to school. That is exceptional. Otherwise i would have told you to let her be. She seems mature beyond her 19years and not materialistic. Besides, if we dont try to help people, we have not served any purpose in life. Someone helped our parents or grand parents too at a point in time and we are reaping the benefits (free education, opportunity e.t.c.).  smiley

@2mch tnx 4 dat piece of advise. Yes, she's currently learning a fashion designing and also have a part-time job. And she's jst 19 yrs old. She finished her Sec. Edu 2yrs ago. And she also plan studying microbiology if given d opportunity.
It is a good sign that she is not sitting down at home dreaming, she is learning a skill. Let her finish the fashion designing first, and then decide if she wants to go back to school. Being a fashion designer will pay more than a part time job when she is in school. And who knows if she is very good at fashion designing she may not even need the school. Working as a fashion designer will also help her be flexible with the time she has to work, and give her time to continue her education. She has to be realistic about her goals though. In Nigeria, where are the jobs? If she is brilliant enough for Microbiology why not study medicine? Except she wants to be a professor. undecided. Dont write anyone off because of lack of opportunity, try to help them create one and you will not regret your decision.
Christianity Etc › Re: Is Christianity Also Against Interest Banking? by 2mch(op): 8:58pm On Oct 24, 2011
From that verse i think the Bible is against interest to an extent. Although it says to those poor among you. But we know everyone that goes to loan money does that because they do not have those funds at their disposal. In this context could they be considered poor? This may be subjective. I was really surprised to see this verse because i thought the bible did not have much issue with interest. So after all non interest banking is not only a Muslim thing. Maybe it was a thing of a place and time. A cultural phenomenon? Which with time and change in culture has become embraced. All in all, interest is a cost of doing business, and business men must make money some how. grin cheesy
Family › Re: A Wife Material But Not Well Educated by 2mch(m): 8:49pm On Oct 24, 2011
If she is smart enough without a university degree imagine how well she will do in school. You have to make sure she has goals and dreams of becoming someone or doing something with her life. Encourage her to go to school in a way that both of you work towards it. You can chip in to help but not all the way. Let her understand the reward of hard work and following her dreams, with your support. She can get a part time job to contribute her share to her education, while you help with the other half. If she has other wifely attributes, then you have a potential investment on your hands. But make sure you understand what she wants for her life, and if her plans work well with yours. If they do, both of you can start working towards achieving it. wink

Just change your number and have it in mind that you only have one parent. If she has mental problems which i think is also a factor, her new family will take care of that. Protect your own family by just cutting off all communication. Your MIL can be the mother you never had. Not all birth parents are supposed to be parents. Protect your family and kids from this monster. This is if what you are writing here is true.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) says Nigerian youths will embark on hunger strike if the government goes ahead with the planned removal of fuel subsidy.

Olawale Ajani, the council’s newly appointed transitional chairman, said in Abuja that the NYCN “has declared November 11 as a hunger strike day for young people and women because of the proposed removal of fuel subsidy.”

He said any attempt to remove the subsidy would be resisted and called for solidarity in the struggle from other Nigerians.

Mr Ajani said the government has not come up with what it planned to do if the subsidy was removed, pointing out that the consequences of removing it would be unbearable for the youth.

“This is the only palliative measure for the youth and the masses.

“If the government goes ahead to remove the subsidy, it shows that there is no reason why the youth should call themselves Nigerians as we are not benefiting anything from the government.”

The youth leader expressed dismay at a situation where majority of the youth were unemployed and would be made to bear the burden of subsidy removal.

“There is nothing for the youth, no jobs and the paltry measure the government is giving us, they want to remove it.”

Ajani appealed to the government not to go ahead with the proposal as it would affect Nigerians and make many of the youth vulnerable to some social vices.

“The president should not remove the subsidy; this was not part of the agreement we had when we voted for him.

“We had the opportunity to vote for other candidates but majority of the youth voted for the president because he shared our aspiration.”
