Politics / Corper Donates His September Allowance To Akeredolu For Campaign In Ondo (Photo) by 2odd(m): 11:38pm On Sep 26, 2016
A member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Ondo state, Gbenga Ayodele Oladimeji has donated his allowance for the month of September 2016 to the Akeredolu Campaign Organization, ACO as part of his contribution for Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN success in the November 26 gubernatorial election...

Oladimeji made the donation on Monday at the ACO’s secretariat in Akure.

According to him, his decision was borne out of his patriotic resolve that Ondo state is in dare need of personality like Akeredolu.

“This is borne out of my patriotic resolve that Ondo state is in dare need of personality like Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.

A man with matchless professional integrity, convincing administrative dexterity and exceptional leadership acumen to salvage the people of Ondo state from the current socio economic quagmire and political directionless exhibited by the present administration in Ondo state.

“It is no longer a news that the government of the day in Ondo state is financially incapacitated to address most of the needs of the masses particularly the civil servants and the youths, it therefore become very sacrosanct for all right thinking individual to join Akeredolu in providing the needed requirement to salvage the state.

“I use this medium to call on well meaning citizen of Ondo state and Nigeria in general to donate generoulsly to this campaign in order to actualize Ondo state of our dream,” he said

Politics / Buhari Reveals Those Behind Niger Delta Militants by 2odd(m): 4:25pm On Sep 23, 2016
– President Muhammadu Buhari has said that
past looters of the treasury are behind
militants in the Niger Delta
– Buhari said the looters recruited the
militants to sabotage the oil infrastructure
– The president said the nation loses millions
daily due to activities of the militants

Those who looted Nigeria’s treasury in the
past are behind the militants in the Niger Delta
region, says President Muhammadu Buihari.
President Buhari said past looters of the
treasury are behind the resurgence of
militancy in the Niger Delta region, stressing
that they are the reasons the nation is battling
recession.
According to him: “Those who stole Nigeria
dry are not happy. They recruited the militants
against us in the Niger Delta, and began to
sabotage oil infrastructure. We lose millions of
barrels per day, at a time when every dollar we
can earn, counts. It is a disgrace that a
minimum of 27 states, out of 36 that we have
in Nigeria, can’t pay salaries.

In a statement by his special adviser media,
Femi Adesina, President Buhari was speaking
to top rate Nigerian professionals based in the
United States of America, whom Mrs Abike
Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the
President on Diaspora Matters and
International Relations, described as “15 of the
best people God ever created.”

The professionals were in New York to meet
with the Nigerian President. Top flight
aeronautics engineers, physicians, I.T experts,
a Judge, a top policewoman, entrepreneurs, an
Import Specialist at Customs and Border
Protection, professors, two straight A
students, and many others.

The parley provided President Buhari
opportunity to bring them up to speed on how
and why Nigeria got into trouble, with an
assurance that with all hands on deck,
including the best brains in the Diaspora, the
country would bounce back in the shortest
possible time.

“I am very pleased with this meeting,”
President Buhari stated. “Wherever you go in
the world, you find highly competent and
outstanding Nigerians. They not only make
great impact on their host countries and
communities, their financial remittances back
home also help our economy, particularly at a
time like this, when things are down.

“We got into trouble as a country, because we
did not save for the rainy day. For example,
between 1999 and 2015, when we produced an
average of 2.1 million barrels of oil per day,
and oil prices stood at an average of $100 per
barrel, we did not save, neither did we develop
infrastructure. Suddenly, when we came in
2015, oil prices fell to about 30 dollars per
barrel.
“I asked; where are the savings? There were
none. Where are the railways? The roads?
Power? None. I further asked; what did we do
with billions of dollars that we made over the
years? They said we bought food. Food with
billions of dollars? I did not believe, and still do
not believe.
“In most parts of Nigeria, we eat what we
grow. People in the South eat tubers, those in
the North eat grains, which they plant, and
those constitute over 60 per cent of what we
eat. So, where did the billions of dollars go?
We did a lot of damage to ourselves by not
developing infrastructure when we had the
money.
“Talking of our military, they earned respect
serving in places like Burma, Zaire, Sudan,
Liberia, Sierra-Leone, and then, suddenly, that
same military could no longer secure 14 out of
774 local governments in the country.
Insurgents had seized them, calling them some
sort of caliphate, and planting their flags there;
till we came, and scattered them.
“We raised the morale of our military, changed
the leadership, re-equipped and retrained them;
USA, Britain, and some other countries helped
us, and today, the pride of our military is
restored.
“Boko Haram ran riot, killing innocent people in
churches, mosques, markets, schools, motor
parks, and so on. And they would then shout
Allahu Akbar. But if they truly knew Allah, they
would not do such evil. Neither Islam, nor any
other religion I know of, advocates hurting the
innocent. But they shed innocent blood, killed
people in their thousands. Now, we have dealt
with that insurgency, and subverted their
recruitment base.”

“But I prayed so hard for God to make me
President. I ran in 2003, 2007, 2011, and in
2015, He did. And see what I met on ground.
But I can’t complain, since I prayed for the job.
In the military, I rose from 2nd Lieutenant to
Major-General. I was military governor in 1975
over a state that is now six states. I was head
of state, got detained for three years, and
headed the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF), which
had N53 billion of that time in Nigerian banks.
“God has been very good to me, so I can’t
complain. If I feel hurt by anybody, I ask God
to help me forgive. He has done so much for
me.
“After 16 years of a different party in
government, no party will come and have
things easy. It’s human. We need quality hands
to run Nigeria, and we will utilize them. I will
like to welcome you home when it’s time. But
I’ll like you to be ready.”
All the Nigerian professionals pledged to
contribute their quota towards re-launching
their fatherland to a new dawn.

Dzunve also noted that the arrested Gabon was the ring leader of one of the cell groups within the Niger Delta Avengers whose team members include one General Felix that had earlier been arrested by his operatives.

On his part, Suru confessed to allegations of being a militant and blowing up oil facilities in the region, including one at Dibi community in Warri North.

However, he denied being a member of the Niger Delta Avengers, even as he revealed that he was recruited in 2011 into the criminal act by Genera Kaphapolo, a former militant leader who died recently in a ghastly motor accident; and has since then carried out series of attacks.

Gabon said: “General Kaphapolo told me that their youths are not being recognised by oil companies in the area; and that is why we were attacking facilities.

“But after General Kaphapolo died in motor accident, I was contacted by one General Tony Felix to join their team because they know I am capable of blowing up oil facilities. I am not a member of Niger Delta Avengers.”

Sule’s arrest comes just days after the Nigerian Navy recently apprehended the leader of militant group -Bakasi Strike Force, Uduak Etim Thompon.

Thompson was arrested alongside four other members of his group at their hideout in Calabar, the Cross River state capital.

Some days ago, a report by Reuters suggested that the people in the Niger Delta are angry at the alleged military brutality that led to the death of the father of ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

The report stated that the anger against the Nigerian military is threatening the ceasefire agreement between the militants and the government.

Education / Police Arrests Adeyeye Olorunfemi, UNILAG Student Rusticated Over Facebook Post by 2odd(m): 3:41pm On Sep 22, 2016
Management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has trailed and arrested Adeyeye Olorunfemi; a vocal student recently victimized over Facebook post accusing the school management of incompetence.

Adeyeye’s arrest today follows his rustication over a critical article he posted to his Facebook wall about on the poor handling of management affairs in the institution under headship of its current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahman Bello.

Mr. adeyeye was arrested by the campus security men on Wednesday and taken to its " Alpha Base" a temporary detention centre operated by the UNILAG campus security unit.

Adeyeye was cornered and arrested alongside three others; Tomi Aina, Lateef Olawale, and another student only as "Olufela."

Saharareporters learned that the campus security men were acting upon a tip-off that Adeyeye was attending a meeting of students activists concerned about the poor state of management of campuses and victimization of student activists across the country. The meeting was aimed at mobilizing students against a clampdown on student activists.

An eye witness said Adeyeye was exchanging phone numbers with some students who saw him at the University gate when the campus security men, who apparently had been trailing him approached him and three others before arresting them.

The arrested students have now been transferred to Sabo Police Station in Yaba area of Lagos.

Sources said they were held overnight at the Alpha Base detention center on campus.

The student source also hinted that UNILAG authorities picked Adeyeye for detention in order to destabilize an ongoing plan by student activists across the country to hold a massive protest at UNILAG’s gate on October 1st against the victimization of students in Nigeria.

“But they are only making the massive protest garner more weight by so doing”, the student source added.

Politics / Buhari Is The Greatest President On Earth - Governor by 2odd(m): 2:52pm On Sep 22, 2016
The governor of Kogi state Yahaya Bello has
said that Nigeria’s president Muhammadu
Buhari is the greatest president on the
surface of the earth
– Bello said President Buhari’s virtues has
made it possible for Nigerians to enjoy
transparency and equity

Just after winning at the Supreme Court on
Tuesday, September 20, the governor of Kogi
state, Yahaya Bello addressed President
Muhammadu Buhari as the greatest.
Bello who spoke to journalists in Abuja
appreciated his party, the All Progressives
Congress (APC) for giving him the opportunity
to serve as a governor.
“I want to thank my great party, I want to thank
specifically, our dear president, President
Muhammadu Buhari, the greatest president on
the surface of this earth, who as the leader of
our party believes in equity and justice,” Bello
said.

The Kogi state governor said, President
Muhammadu Buhari’s virtues as the greatest
president on earth has made it possible for
transparency in Nigeria.

Bello said: “He also allowed all that to play out
in all we are seeing today.”
Bello’s victory was sustained on Tuesday,
September 20, by the Supreme Court after
series of judicial battle with his fellow
contestants – former Kogi state governor Idris
Wada and James Faleke, a running mate to
the late Kogi APC flag bearer Audu Abubakar.
The duo in various their arguments argued
that Bello did not merit to become the state
governor since he never participated in the
November and December 2015 election in the
state.

Politics / Shiites Protest In Abuja, Demand Release Of El-Zakzaky (Video) by 2odd(m): 1:52pm On Sep 22, 2016
The members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) better known as Shi’ites on September 22, Thursday, stormed the streets of the capital city of Nigeria, Abuja.

The Vanguard reports that Shiites demanded the immediate release of their leader, Sheik Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, who has been held out of touch by the Nigerian army since last year December.

The group earlier expressed fear that El-Zakzaky might die due to his bad health.

Many people were feared dead after a bloody clash between Nigerian soldiers and the members of IMN in Zaria, Kaduna state on December 13-14, 2015.

The army claimed that it had responded to the Shia followers’ attempt to kill the Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai. But this claim has been strongly denied by the Shiites and several human rights organizations who argue that the attack was pre-planned.
