BusinessRe: Why Small Businesses Fail In Nigeria by 2rutalk1: 5:01pm On Sep 16, 2015
It may not be funny if you don't have enough capital to start your business. Don't listen to what business orators tell you in Business School. Most of what they say do not hold in practical terms. Anybody who has tasted the harsh business environment in Nigeria knows its not easy out there despite all these chants about "be your own boss". Your little capital may go into your running cost in the first 2 to 3 years They will ask you to start small but I can tell you categorically that it is only the grace of God that will see you through without adequate capital. Customers patronize big businesses even without price differential. However, the greatest threat to small businesses is unfaithful staff. Infact, if you have money don't employ Secondary school holders especially in Lagos. They are business killers. Look for graduates, maybe OND holders. 90% of these SSCE holders don't know you set up the business to make profit. All they do is to wait till the end of the month to collect salaries, no productivity, nothing.

Why are they even seeking for appointments from him? did they vote him?
This is nonsense. Did you go to school at all? So everybody has to vote for him- in a democratic setting? haba!. Corps Members that were killed by Northern youths in 2011 died because PMB did not win the election. Did that stop Jonathan from appointing northerners?
PoliticsRe: Buhari Appoints Abonyi As Registrar Of EHORECON by 2rutalk1: 4:44pm On Sep 16, 2015
I still don't understand why a President will choose to favour a certain section of the country because others did not vote for him. Obasanjo was the President of Nigeria and many Northerners did not vote for him, yet nobody was marginalized neither did he complain that Hausas or Igbos did not vote for him. Jonathan ruled the same country even though he lost in most northern states coupled with post election violence, which claimed the lives of so many Corps members, yet no body complained neither did he deny any section any position. It therefore beats my imagination why Buhari would expect every Nigerian to vote for him in an indirect democracy. Is that possible? I just don't understand all these noise about some people not voting PMB. Why are we then practicing democracy? PMB is just setting bad precedence here and there. So bad!

I think somebody should be made to go to school before aspiring to become the President of this great nation called Nigeria. Recent events have proven that Buhari lacks what it takes to manage the most populous nation in Africa. I am highly disappointed in this man. No policy direction, our economy is dwindling by the day yet he blames Jonathan for his failure. However, it is even more worrisome that some Nigerians who out of ethnic/religious/political bigotry still support every blunder committed by this man. It is so unfortunate.

I just finished writing books in different academic subjects for sale. Presently, I have completed general subjects like Mathematics, English and Economics. However, the challenge I am having right now is how to market the books faster aside from the conventional way of going to Secondary Schools and Universities. Please, your suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Risks Economic Decline –buhari: Punch by 2rutalk1: 1:23pm On Sep 02, 2015
I am highly disappointed in this new government. It is obvious the government has no policy direction. I never expected the dwindling oil price to come as a shock to President Buhari since he knew it even before electioneering campaigns. One of the reasons people voted for Buhari was because they thought he would diversify the economy of this country and move away from our traditional oil-dominated economy. It is therefore shocking that President Buhari is still seeing the oil price volatility as a serious challenge to his government. I will always remember Obasanjo for one thing - Assembling great technocrats from all walks of life during his tenure to revamp the economy of this nation. people like Oby Ezekwesili, Prof. Charles Soludo, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Frank Nweke Jr, Shamsudeen Usman, Bright Okogwu, El Rufai and many more, formed the economic team and placed our economy on the path of growth. Buhari should hasten up and do something urgently and stop all these complaints about dwindling oil price. Oil is an exhaustible resource and the current Shale Oil development in the US coupled with low demand for oil in the international market is a threat to future oil prices. Let him get a good Energy/Petroleum Economist to tell him the future of the petroleum sector and its possible impacts on the world economy. Then, he will see the need for economic diversification. Anything contrary to this will spell doom on Nigeria's economic growth and development.

Nairaland GeneralRe: I Am Home Or I Am At Home. Which Of The Two Is Grammatically Correct? by 2rutalk1(op): 11:29am On Aug 26, 2015
Karmanaut:
I think the implication in the expression "I'm home" is that you're home from somewhere. It ma be that you've just come/gone in, but it doesn't need to be — you can be home from the front or home from university and have been back for a week or so. But a homecoming in the not-too-distant past is certainly connoted.

The nature of the word home in "come/go home" is often argued over; noun and adverb are suggestions, but directional particle is what I'm voting for at the moment. Apparently, home in go home can be used without a preposition because it is the remnant of an earlier form that fused preposition (to) and noun, and when this type of inflection for case disappeared from English, this particular usage continued, with the to-home form standardising with the base noun. We don't have "I'm going school". Possibly, "He is home" has arrived via "He has/is come to-home". Home in "He is home" is locative rather than directional now.

It may be another legacy from the fused to-home that we never use the preposition to with home (except with an intervening determiner etc.), but this is true for other nouns also.

Certainly, other prepositions (at, from) can be used with the noun home in the expected way, and "I'm at home" is strictly locative. To express arrivals at other venues, we are forced to use a different expression — "I've just got to school / I've arrived at school"'m home" is what you say when you walk in through the door to tell people there that you've arrived.

"I'm at home" is what you say when someone asks you on your cell phone or IM where you are locate. "Where are you?" "I'm at home right now."
very insightful. Suddenly, people regard " I am at home” as an outright grammatical blunder and this has kept me thinking why a hitertho correct English suddenly turned to a grammatical blunder.
