mars123:Its a pity you only hear Amaechi's name on the radio. I am surprised some of you expect anything good from this man called Amaechi. If you have ever lived or stayed in Rivers State for a while, you would know that the man called Amaechi is nothing but a mere cultist. Right from his University days, he (Amaechi) has been a gangster. He rose in politics through touting and gangsterism. |
The only different between this Ejigbo according to your description and Satellite Town is that Ejigbo is dirtier. But they share things in common in terms of bad roads, lack of power supply and total government neglect. |

Nigeria is in a very sorry state. What is the big deal in appointing Ministers? Nawa |
It was reported in several Newspapers this morning that President Muhammadu Buhari will head the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. the Public perception about this decision is that, it will enable Mr. president to tackle the perennial corruption that has bedeviled the Ministry over the years. perhaps, as justifiable as it sounds, the truth of the matter is, the current economic problem that we are facing today can be attributed to our dependent on oil as a major source of government revenue. The oil price volatility in the international oil market has affected our revenue generation negatively. Therefore, every right thinking person should be concerned about how to diversify our economy instead of focusing on the lucrative petroleum industry. If Mr. President really wants to revamp our economy, let him appoint someone else to run the petroleum Ministry, while he handles the Agriculture Ministry for our economic diversification. Except if Mr. President has a different interest in the Ministry. Recall that the Agricultural sector was the highest employer of labour in the early 1960s before the oil boom and also contributes the highest percentage to our GDP. Again, President Olusegun Obasanjo who is a renowned farmer, abandoned the Agriculture Ministry and managed the petroleum Ministry instead. Yet, no tangible difference was made. Therefore, for me there is a personal interest our leaders pursue in that lucrative Ministry other than fight against corruption. So, let Buhari handle the Ministry of Agriculture instead of Petroleum Ministry to diversify our economy if really he means well for our country. |
Buhari and Saraki know what they are doing. Some gullible APC fellows are just being deceived. Fear NORTH |
Sylver247:The way you are complaining about little pay and high cost of transportation is the same way your boss is striving to cope with harsh business environment. I worked for people before going into business and now I understand what it takes to run a business in Nigeria. Sometimes you wake up and start thinking of going to work for someone else and collect salary at the end of the month. Remember how desperate you were before he considered you as his employee. Please my dear, running business in Nigeria is so tough except you are "lucky" to be among those who are ripping other people or the economy off in the name of running a business. |
And over 200 people killed by Boko Haram today in Monguno. I dey laugh |
reuben79:Did you do literature in school or did your literature teacher not teach you what is called Simile or Metaphor? You guys are so annoying. You complain about everything. Learn to recognize the truth and stop politicizing everything. |
It is an indisputable fact that the Nigerian economy is presently witnessing a serious "turmoil". First, the current economic debacle that has bedeviled Nigeria can be attributed to the dwindling price of oil in the international oil market. This is as result of the fact that Nigerian economy is solely dependent on oil (mono-economy) for her foreign earnings and this problem has been compounded by failure of successive governments to diversify the economy. Secondly, since his assumption of office on the 29th day of May, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari has kept Nigerian's especially industry players in the dark due to lack of policy direction by his administration. Thirdly, the recent implementation of Treasury Single Account (TSA) by this administration, though a welcome development, has caused a liquidity squeeze in the banking industry, making it difficult for banks to give loans to investors to boost the real sector of the economy, which is an engine for a country's economic growth and development. Fourthly, Non-composition of his cabinet has also brought the economy of Nigeria to a stand still due to the fact that most projects which could have been initiated and executed by the honourable ministers are non-existent. Remember, nature abhors vacuum and you must pay the price for any vacuum created either in the long-run or in the short-run. However, the above listed problems have worsened the unemployment problem in the country. Virtually, no government Ministry, agency, parastatal etc has conducted any official recruitment since Buhari's assumption of office, despite the fact that more graduates are joining the labour market on average daily basis. This has widened the gap between the job seekers and the number of available jobs in the country. So for those who say we should give him time, consider this please. Infact, we are currently witnessing the worst form of unemployment known to mankind (staflation). This is a level of unemployment that is accompanied by rising inflation rate. Economically, any factor which increases the level of unemployment would reduce the rate of inflation in the economy viz-a-viz (macroeconomic tradeoff), but our experience right now shows that Nigerian economy has defiled this theory. See the Philips curve for better understanding. I am therefore of the opinion that Mr. president should as a matter of urgency pursue a balanced economic growth model, which will help to diversify the economy. Our total dependent on oil as a source of revenue will spell further doom on the economy in the long-run due to shale oil development in the US coupled with oil spare production capacity in Saudi Arabia and other OPEC giants. -Mr. president should in the short run pursue expansionary policies in order to boost the real sector of the economy. This can be achieved by increasing government expenditure and reducing taxes. Read the importance of Velocity of Circulation for better understanding. -Mr. President's "war against corruption" should be shifted to the State Governors, who have capitalized on the dwindling revenue to milk their respective States dry without even paying salaries to workers. It seems even the masses have turned deaf ears on the State Governors without knowing that they are the highest "Robbers" of the economy. -Finally, Mr. president should not channel all his energy towards fighting corruption alone or persecuting his political opponents. This will make mess of his administration. Of all the accused persons, how many have been convicted so far? How much has been recovered so far? If much has been recovered, why are we still shouting "there is no money"? This is a democracy, where bureaucracy is the order of the day and the rule of law must be adhered to. At the end of the day, channeling all his energy towards anti-corruption without achieving any meaningful development in Nigeria will work against him. Those sycophants around him will desert him. He should learn from history. Thank you. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria Long live President Muhammadu Buhari. Long live the Hero of our democracy Dr. Goodluck Jonathan |

Is this the agenda this administration is pursuing? Every sector of the economy has been abandoned. God forbid! |
efilefun:So when Buhari was running up and down promising heaven and earth, he didn't know the economy was bad. Infact Buhari promised to fix the country within the shortest possible time that was why many fell for his deceit. Are you also telling us that the only achievement he came to record is witch-hunting of any politician that holds contrary opinion? If not for the Senate Presidential election debacle, would Buhari have raised a finger against Saraki? The man is a disappointment abeg. |
neocortex:But I just told you the multiplier effect of Soludo's policies. Even at that, what impact has Sanusi's "sanitization" policy made on the economy. Are our banks better off? Are Nigerian banks generating more job opportunities now more than Soludo's era? Are Nigerian banks giving more loans to SMEs more than before? Once again, tell me the positive impacts of Sanusi's "cleansing" policies on the economy as a whole. Remember that liquidity is not the only measure of bank's stability. We have what we call CAMEL rating in Economics, which stands for: C=Capital adequacy, A=Asset quality, M=Management E=earnings L=Liquidity. Therefore, Solvency/liquidity is just one part of the measures used in determining the stability of a bank. |
neocortex:If you really know the meaning of "run" in the banking industry, you will understand that blowing the problem of banks' insolvency out of proportion is the worst reason why we experience 'run' in the industry. It ought to be managed just as Soludo did. And one way to manage it, is through recapitalization policy, which Soludo carried out professionally. Even in the western world, that is the practice. Tell me the positive impact of Sanusi's noise on the economy. During Soludo's era, the banking sector was the second highest employer of labour after agriculture. Graduates were flourishing in both Commercial and Microfinance banks. It is now left for you to compare and contrast, using the current unemployment problem as a case study. The basis for every economic policy is economic welfare of the people. Now, are we better off or worse off? |
The only Nigerian Economist alive that can help revamp Nigerian economy from its sorry state is Prof Charles Soludo. I know many will not take this, but that is a fact. Contractionary policies should be jettisoned right now while the governemnt should pursue expansionary policies in order to boost the real sector of the economy. And I can guarantee you that this is one macroeconomic area Charles Soludo is good at. He remains the John Maynard Keyness of Nigeria. If Buhari ignores Prof Charles because of political or ethnic reasons, I am sorry we may not find it funny. |
“It was incredible” explains Dr. Jack Morrow who assisted the woman through the whole operation.” The babies kept coming and coming and coming and coming… Man! I think I’m gonna have nightmares about this day for a long time! This was my last delivery!” he adds in disgust. Catherine Bridges and her husband had been trying to have a child for many years and had decided last year to use medical assistance from a fertility clinic in Rhodes Island. The insemination process was definitely successful, as the couple got an entire litter of seventeen beautiful and identical boys. The couple has already chosen the names for the boys with an obvious continuity of thought: James, Jacob, Jarod, Jarvis, Jason, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Jerome, Jesse, Jimmy, Joachim, Jonathan, Jonas, Joseph, Julian, Jimbo and surprisingly, Darth Porkinus. http://www.viroshare.com/entertainment/usa-mother-gives-birth-to-17-babies-at-once-with-over-29-hours-of-pushing-breaking-the-world-record-of-most-babies-born-from-a-lone-pregnancy-unbelievable/

Nonsense. Next please. This is an era of lies, propaganda and war against political opponents. No policy direction, no clue about governance. |
Upon that Gov. umahi of Ebonyi State is paying half salary to workers after slashing same by 50%. Same Umahi promised to increase the workers salary by 100% during his campaigns but later turned his back to the workers, insisting that even the old salary structure in the State is no longer sustainable. Our State Governors are terrible. |

People say Saraki is overambitious. I wonder what they say about Tinubu. The man wants to pocket the nation's economy alone. How can one man nominate the Chairman of FIRS and the Minister of Finance as the same time. It should be condemned in its entirety. If he eventually succeeds, it means he will be indirectly in charge of all our income and expenditure. He has successfully done the calculation to get the Vice President, Chairman of FIRS so that his another stooge (Finance Minister) will hurriedly approve any generated revenue he wants to divert for his personal use. Or better still, to get the FIRS Chairman and the Finance Minister to approve his company, Alpha Beta to be in charge of all our revenue as he is doing in Lagos State. Please, Buhari should not make the mistake of giving Tinubu both Finance Minister and FIRS Chairman. It is very dangerous to our economy. That man is terrible. |
I have concluded every arrangement to further my education to PhD level. Perhaps, I made 3.02 in my Msc. It seems every university in Nigeria accepts 3.5 and above for PhD admission. If anyone knows any school in Nigeria or abroad that accepts below 3.0 Msc grade for PhD admission without passing through Mphil should please let me know. Mod, please help me push it to the front page I need answers ASAP. Thanks. |
Is this the only thing APC has to offer? God forbid! This Party is the highest fraud I have ever since in my life. Every promise they made to Nigerians before the election has either been denied or abandoned. |
Rawani:Why are you contradicting yourself? If it is silly for us to import toothpick as you said, why then are you saying devaluation makes no sense since export will be cheaper than imports. The essence of devaluation is to discourage import in order to protect domestic industries against unhealthy competition. Haven't you heard of import substitution strategy before and its impact on industrialization? |

And Buhari aint a miracle worker. Could have left the clueless man there and watch Nigeria go extinction, atleast this saraki's case had been committed since 2003 and nobody deemed it fit to point a torch on him and am sure there are still several politicians in that same situation.
