I guess most of the guys talking seems to be the magas or you dated brokers babes. I was there for my girl bak in school both in finance and emotions which was vice-versa.I was not there for her assignment cos I for a person do not know book when it comes to law,so how can I help out in assignment. She did help me more often in finance but I wasn't the type that would take her money cos I hold well. To me ,I just saw relationship in school as a stepping stone to meet your future spouse . It makes you confident when looking for a spouse and not fidgeting when you see that future spouse of your desire or dreams.

FamilyRe: He Wants Sex Every Night. by 360command: 12:23pm On Apr 13, 2013
Here is my advice for him . The guy is undergoing psychopathic sex syndrome. A man can have urge for sex at any given time but its normal for a man to have sex like twice or three times a week(twice a week). I am sorry to say, for such kind of guy, he is loosing the love he as got for your sister but the love remains as long as sex is given to him(note:infact, there is no love like that). He is going through a mental disorder which he cannot control. He needs go through psychotherapy,he needs medication. The fact that the wife knows that he likes sex every night and she has been able to speak out to you, its for her to tell the husband to speak out for help -i.e he needs to go see doctor or tell his friends around if they know good doctors who can help.

Abrantie: We felt sorry for y'all. Now let our textiles and cement flow into Nigeria to offer some real competition to Dagonte's monopoly.
I do support this movement , this is where I see that the nigerian govt did not do well if they were not allowing ghanian textiles or cements into Nigeria. This is what I am trying to say . ECOWAS is ECOWAS when we stand by ECOWAS . We are talking of the intergration of people ,goods amongst ecowas states. If we have a Ghanian manufacturer into textile, such company can sell that textile in the nigerian market .if the nigerian govt says there is a ban in textile material, then it should apply to oversees countries but not countries of the west africa region.

Nigeria's dangerous skin whitening obsession
Last updated: 6 April 2013

Nigeria has the world's highest percentage of women using skin lightening agents in the quest for "beauty".

Lagos, Nigeria - After carefully washing her face, legs and arms, Taiwo Solomon vigorously rubs cream over her body. She is meticulous and makes sure she covers her entire face. Soloman, 32, is bleaching her skin. She believes fairer skin could be her ticket to a better life. So she spends her meager savings on cheap black-market concoctions that promise to lighten her pigment.

This has been a daily routine for the past 15 years. Now several shades lighter she says her new skin makes her feel more beautiful and confident.

“Bleaching just makes me feel special, like am walking around in a spotlight,” she told Al Jazeera. “I am not seeking to be totally white, I just want to look beautiful. I cannot stop using the lightening agents,” she adds.

Solomon is not alone. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 77 percent of women in Nigeria use skin-lightening products, the world’s highest percentage. That compares with 59 percent in Togo, and 27 percent in Senegal. The reasons for this are varied but most people say they use skin-lighteners because they want "white skin".

In many parts of Africa, lighter-skinned women are considered more beautiful and are believed to be more successful and likely to find marriage.

It's not only women though who are obsessed with bleaching their skins. Some men too are involved in the practice.

Conceptions of beauty

Lightening creams are not effectively regulated in Nigeria where even roadside vendors sell tubes and plastic bags of powders and ointments from cardboard boxes stacked along sidewalks in market districts. Many of the tubes are unlabelled as to their actual ingredients.

"An African will prefer to be called John-Philip. If you said your name was Chukwu Emeka Afongkudong they will say you are from the village. You are backward. How can you have such a name? We really look down on our culture and heritage instead of being proud of it. "

- Femi Kut, Nigerian Musician

In a market in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial capital, business is booming for shops selling skin-lightening products. Both local and imported products line the shelves of Rashida Lawal’s cosmetics shop.

"About 90 percent of my clients come asking for skin whitening products," she told Al Jazeera. "I sell it to them and give advice on what product is best for them and how to use them."

She says most of her customers are in a great haste to lighten their skin.

“Taking the color of your skin to different colour has to be gradual. It's not something you decide one day that 'I want to be fair, I want to be like Michael Jackson and you become Michael Jackson all of a sudden'. That is why we have to advise them first before selling it to them” said Lawal.

Rashida and her staff also mix different ointments and creams for customers “depending on the desired level of lightness”.

Famous Nigerian Musician Femi Kuti says the use skin-lightening products have given rise to their own terminology.

“When the bleaching propaganda got so negative, they had to come up with toning. Bleaching sounds too hard, now it’s toning. I don't bleach, they say, I tone!”

“They think bleaching is gege,” he told Al Jazeera, using a Nigerian term for cool.

Femi attributes skin bleaching to a feeling that foreign products and images must, by definition, be good.

“An African will prefer to be called John-Philip. If you said your name was Chukwu Emeka Afongkudong they will say you are from the village. You are backward. How can you have such a name? We really look down on our culture and heritage instead of being proud of it,” he laments.

Dangerous consequences

Skin bleaching comes with hazardous health consequences. The dangers associated with the use of toxic compounds for skin bleaching include blood cancers such as leukemia and cancers of the liver and kidneys as well as severe skin conditions.

Hardcore bleachers use illegal ointments containing toxins like mercury, a metal that blocks production of melanin, which gives the skin its colour, but can also be toxic.

Ayobode Williams, a medical doctor, says the skin bleaching agents have both internal and external effects on those who use them.

“Systemically it causes things like kidney failure because of the mercury in some of the products and it also causes eczema, skin pigmentation among a host of other infections,” he told Al Jazeera.

Dr Williams warned that sustained use of bleaching agents could cause even cancer.

Yet few seem to pay attention to these dangers. For those who bleach, staying black is not beautiful at all.
tell Al jazeera to go to cote d'ivoire or mali where they would see bleeching at its peak. We bleech but I know we don't too bleech as the ivorians

Since we do not have the know how in solving domestic issues when it comes to security for now(which is a shame) ,it is better to negotiate with one,two or three boko haramist group rather than not knowing whom to negotiate with in the future (I.e if there r too many groups,it becomes difficult to negotiate with them).

This is the case of mexico, it was easier for them negotiating with the narcotics in the 75's compare to what we are seeing today. You don't know who to negotiate with because of the numerous groups in the narco bandits.

I have read all your comments but I did like to say you have written well. But I want you to know that some of you have made errors on this subject matter .I strongly believe that The word GOOD goes with the preposition AT and not IN.

Example :

(1)I am poor in maths but good at english

(2)I am bad at igbo too.

(3)Nairlanders are clever at answering questions.

Though I hear educated elites say 'I am not good in maths' . But I believe that the grammertical statement is wrong .

Back then in the past , there were group of people when you see them you will know that such skin looks is natural I.e been fair. Which we can see the igbos or south east regions who have got that completion .To the southwest, they make all such of attributes to those light skinned by saying yellow pawpaw, oyibo, see as u yellow etc as if they themselves do not like the idea of having a natural fair skin. Today, everyone seem to go gaga about wanting to light up their skin.
PoliticsRe: South African Hotel Bans Nigerians by 360command: 1:52pm On Apr 06, 2013
@ poster , watin u dey do for south africa? Bak to your question, rich or poor, there is bound to be migrants moving from one zone or country to another . So you have to accept that . Also, you should try to consider that to those who travelled to south africa must have tried the hustling back in nigeria but things did not favour them . Afterall, why people travel is for the fact that they might not have favour or success in their home country and decide to find another place for decent and better living . @ the hotel, there is something I have notice about nigerians abroad especially when they are in hotels where there are bars . They tend to be at the top of the tone thereby making people at the surroundings feel uncomfortable which they call the attention of waiters, manager or supervisors about the noise making of groups of people close to them . Which I can understand why the hotel must have placed the notice on not wanting to receive nigerian visitors in their hotel. My opinion and experience.

PoliticsRe: Should I Return To Nigeria? by 360command: 9:51pm On Apr 04, 2013
dasarge: @ Poster, my candid advise to you is DO NOT MOVE YOUR FAMILY!! I have just returned from wasting away 1 full year of my life in Nigeria trying to return "home" Nothing works, and I mean absolutely NOTHING!

so many people will tell you to come back and you will adapt after some time, nothing like home etc.... but take it from me, when you land there, you become a target for many thieves to prey on starting from family members that will steal from you to drivers, Police, kidnappers etc! I was robbed by my own driver(international passport stolen along with many others. (I had to change drivers twice and both cases were due to theft).

You will pay for your own government; electricity generation(noisy generators) as PHCN is non-existent, you pay for security, you pay Police to do any civic duty you require of them, you pay for your life to stay alive! You will need loads of PRAYERS as one day without it could mean untimely death at a roundabout where people don't know the rules, motorway where people over-speed or where you have heavy duty trucks with no form of road-worthiness..You will also spend at least a fith of your working day in crazy Traffic...

You will have to put up with the slow process of business registrations, tax registration, bank account all the way down to getting your business to survive if you are a business man or you may have to wait for God knows how long, before you get a Job depending on which one you chose to do.

My brother, it is in fact better for you to stay back where you, alive and well with your family as everything you see in Nigeria is a charade, nothing works! the Big cars, houses and all the stuffs you may have been seeing on our Nollywood movies on Iroko Tv must not deceive you. The worst schools abroad (at least in the UK) are still better than those over-rated Lekki schools where you will find yourself burning your cash! You will most likely come across pressure like you have never seen when you get there.

I have spoken, in as much as I refused to listen when I went there I have warned you.

I went, I saw, I was robbed but I survived with my family, Now I am back HOME....Yes; HOME!
Sorry about the fact that you were robbed. Sorry about the negatives . But kini big deal self? Wat is d difference between you and dangote ? Is dangote not thriving despite the challenges he faces?

What is the difference between an average mexican and carlos slim ? Afterall, they are all living the same country . In that country, we will live, sweat and die there . I am paying my dues and still paying it . Its the same country I have made a solemn pledge to right from my childhood till now. I feel your pain ,Nigeria can be weakening. If the OP wants to come bak or not ,its his decision but the fact remains 'OP I need you to come back home' . There is a popular saying in mexico that says 'the land shall come to those who work on it with their own hands'. I need the OP to use his experience to build 9ja the little way he can .@ dasarge, I am glad you are back home also trying to build 9ja . Nice one !
PoliticsRe: Should I Return To Nigeria? by 360command: 7:53pm On Apr 04, 2013
eldoradoxx: . Am really touched by this post. U see the problem with an average Nigerian of today is that he lacks vision and has no believe in himself anymore. He would rather discuss what GEJ did or hasn't done, what Obasanjo said to Tinubu than discuss real issue that would affect his economic well being. An average standard bakery you see today in major cities are owned and managed Chinese and Lebanese who then employ Nigerians as casual workers and salesgirl / attendants. Is there any Chinese wizardry there is to baking? Is there any secret in bakery known to Lebanese that is not available to Nigerian? Absolutely Nothing! The difference is that one believes that Nigeria is a place to make it despite the power shortage, the insecurity, etc. Whereas the ladlords (Nigerians) believe that what use is it baking in an economy that statistics shows 60% of citizens live below one dollar per day, there is no electricity, the cost of production is on the increase, there is insecurity etc all the litany of excuses. So in same place where people see a failing state, others are coming to make great wealth at our backyards while we are ok with criticising government.
Nigerians have the vision to start and progress on a business but the issue is the inability to make up the capital . China and lebanon your made mention about have easy access to loan in their and when they are in your country . For them, paying for interest loan is like 7-10%. Which is not much of a burden . Unlike here, paying interest loan is 21-30% depending on the bank. So how can a local compete with a foreigner in your country who had is loan with ease and paying a low percentage on interest rate . The difference is clear !
