Life is like a market. When you finish selling your market, you will all go home.. In the case of goldie, she has come to do what she needed to do in life and now she has gone to sleep finally.

In this life, people will go so as people will come .. people will descend in other for people to ascend. But my prayer is for us to be able to achieve what we have come to do in this world and also live old so as we can bury our parent and not our parent burying us. Goldie, R.I.P.

I laugh not to what has happened to the ivorian but to what my ivorian friend tells me . He says ivory coast or cote d'ivoire is a paradise as a whole and also a paradise to Nigerians . I remember when I told him, cote d'ivoire might be a paradise when it comes to 24/7 uninterrupted power but its still an african country . Africa is africa everywhere .ie, there is poverty, unemployment, insecurity, lack of health care service even unstable or no power at rural areas etc ... Here is the case of this ivorian who burnt himself as a result of not wishing to go back to cote d'ivoire knowing fully well how the situation is in abijan , cote d'ivoire .

hotwax: Chinese do businesses, invest, establish companies in other part of the world.

They dont sell fairly used cloths (BK), spare part, tires in shops
don't get it wrong brother. There are chinese and there are chinese. There are immigrants and there are immigrants. Its not every chinese that do business in a luxury way as you put it to be.there are Chinese who also engage in the sales of sub-standard goods at retail level. I have seen them in cote d ivorie, benin and Ghana. Now, the best of our nigerian biz elites are into oil and gas, banking and telecoms while at the bottom level, we see nigerians engage in fairly used cloths, spare part as you ve written which to me is not bad because they help in building the economy. I have a car, and when my car is bad , I go to the spare part dealers to buy from . I don't go to big chinese company and place order. So brother, I know you have problem with your fellow africans but you must know ,everyone are not having the same finger prints. There are biz elites and there are the ones coming up.so please,do not condemn people selling spare part biz opting us to go for the ones who have establish modernized company engaging in spare part biz.

Foreign AffairsRe: Ghana Closes 40 Nigerians’ Shops by 360command: 2:36pm On Feb 14, 2013
SELFWORTH: One sided story and yet everyone is mouthing off.

Knowing Nigerians as never abiding by the laws of their own country, I suspect this story.

Can't defend them. If you sorted out your own country, you won't be in Ghana. They mess up Nigeria and then start looking for somewhere to emigrate to but nemesis will always catch up with them.

There is no place like home! In your own country, you will never be considered an illegal immigrant.
you need to think deep and write maturedly. As good as the chinese economy might seem, obviously, things in China are been sorted out well but yet, chinese can be found in many corners of the world doing what best they can do. Nobody can stop immigration, humans will tend to travel from one place to another . No matter how good the economy is, people will still go out to virgin areas and see how best they can tap into it for them to see themselves grow in biz.

rastamouse: I don't know how some people reason here. I smh at some of the comments. I doubt if most of you guys here even read the story well. The guys are claiming that the place was empty when they started selling at the place.

Now tell me...can anyone of you go to the United States and start selling at any place at all because the place is empty?

The way some people reason undecided
yes , if I am a canadian citizen and I go to the US , I can start selling at any empty place and the govt will not do jack about it simply because nobody is patronising what I sell. But when a lot of people know where my biz is and people start patronising then this is where you see the haters(govt) coming to stop my shine . So this is synonymous to Nigeria- Ghana
Foreign AffairsRe: Ghana Closes 40 Nigerians’ Shops by 360command: 1:36pm On Feb 14, 2013
Billyonaire: I advise all Nigerians living in Ghana not to be intimidated, if they say Retail business is meant for Ghanians alone, it there fore means you have naturally been promoted to Importer and Wholesaler, find money and start importing, if they raise price of import duty and custom taxes, mark-up the price and sell to their citizens, invade that country and dominate them, take their women, hire their citizens as your gatemen and shoe shiners. This is the Nigerian spirit. Ghana is Nigeria's Colony, for ever and ever. Amen.
it does not apply that way. The bulk of immigrants that ply the west african countries are poor people trying to find survival . There are no much job that will enable the immigrants to do so some of this immigrants become self employed, with their capital or small capital they start up a small retail business . This is where I am not happy with their law where it says retail business should be left for ghanians and not foreigners . Example: As a poor citizen coming from an ecowas region, and I emigrated to a different ecowas country for better living condition though we know that there are no much better jobs in west africa, with my little capital , I engage myself in a self employed retail business . And now, govt is telling me I am not oblige to go into retail biz, so wat do u want me to do? When Ecowas policy says there should be free movement of goods and services. An Ecowas citizen is also a citizen of another Ecowas country. Ecowas as a whole are not doing well, if you read the ecowas terms, policy, you will know that there are good vision for Ecowas region to make it a better place for everyone .

andrewza: From the Nigerian newspaper PRIMIUM TIMES:

The condition of Nigerian troops in Mali is quickly sliding from bad to worse as inadequate supply of provision is forcing the contingent to solicit food from locals, PREMIUM TIMES can exclusively report.

According to a reliable defence source who asked not to be named, the Nigerian contingent solicits food and handouts under the guise of "courtesy calls" to community leaders in Mali.

After one of such courtesy calls on Monday, the troops received a handout of a cow and 50 bags of rice from the Prefect of Tuban in Banamba region.

"Our officers and men have resorted to begging locals for cows and rice for survival," said the official.

"This is done by way of courtesy calls. They invite the prefects of the locals to our camp for visits. The prefect of Tuban (Banamba Region) visited today (Feb 11) with a cow and 50 bags of rice."

Last week, PREMIUM TIMES exclusively reported that the initial 162-soldier contingent is suffering severe food shortage and a dip in morale as troops were forced to skip meals.

Our defence insiders said there has been no improvement in the provision of food.

However, the Director for Defence Information, Mohammed Yerima, a Brigadier General in the Army, told our reporter over the telephone that any insinuation of food shortage is not true.

"We have provided the contingent with enough food and fund to last them for the initial three months. Is Nigeria not bigger than that?" he said.

Still in Bamako

Contrary to information from the Ministry of Defence that Nigerian troops are involved in combat and have advanced northward toward the city of Gao, military insiders said the Nigerian contingent is still stationed at the Force Headquarters in Bamako.

We learnt that shortage in armaments has prevented the deployment of soldiers to combat positions. And many soldiers are yet to be paid their monthly sustenance allowance.

Sending troops in piecemeal

As of Monday, there were 210 soldiers in Mali with 70 more billed to join them on Tuesday.

President Goodluck Jonathan promised to deploy 1,200 soldiers as part of Africa-led International Support Mission to Mali (AFISMA) but is having great difficulty meeting up with that number.

Mr. Yerima said the figure we cited is incorrect. But our sources dismissed the denials, saying Mr. Yerima's job is to make the Nigerian military look good.

"We have over 500 troops in Mali and Niamey (Niger Republic)," he said.

Since we are not reporting on Niger, we had expected him to tell us how many soldiers Nigeria has on ground in Mali.

The Boko Haram insurgency, Niger Delta unrest, and the country's commitment to the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan, have over-stretched the Nigerian Army, senior military sources said.
Are you a learner ? Have you been to Mali ? Have you actually been to Gao, Mali ? Even the french troops run out of food . That place is a desert land which is hard for plant and animals to scout for food. That area is you, your water and God.

I have said it here on nairaland , no african country will have respect for Nigeria or Nigerians unless we use one of their citizen or country as a whole as scape goat in a legitimate/illegitimate violent way just as wat Israel does with the Palestine so as the media can show it to the world what nigeria is doing. I am not talking about boko haram or niger delta carrying out their private act. I am talking about a situation were our govt will do something strong to them so as they can know who truly we are or who/what we can be. Nigerian travel a lot ,the act to which immigration officers of other african region act upon a nigerian can be inhumane @times. Nigeria needs to stop the act where we wait for a country to bully us before acting upon. I want us to be the bullies of africa cause as we wait for other country to bully us, our reputation keeps falling, our mindset keeps falling, our pride/fathers land falls as well making us b the maga or mumu. As the scenario given, a police man said'are you special, we can shoot you here '. This is to say that our reputation, pride, as fallen in such a way that they can do it and our govt or we Nigerians cannot do anything about that. I believe in Nigeria, but for us to protect our people or reputation(home and abroad), we need to take the bull by the horn .

Christianity EtcFirst Black Pope – Ghana And Nigeria Cardinals Favorites by 360command(op): 2:00am On Feb 13, 2013
Reaction in Africa to the resignation of Pope Benedict is focused, in part, on whether his successor could come from the continent.

Two West African cardinals, Peter Turkson of Ghana and Francis Arinze of Nigeria, are spoken of as among top candidates to replace Benedict as head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Bookmakers in Britain named both men as likely favorites in the upcoming election by the church’s College of Cardinals, along with Marc Ouellet of Canada.

Cardinal Turkson is 64 years old, was born in Ghana, and is former archbishop of Cape Coast, in Ghana’s central region. He is now based at the Vatican, and serves as president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace.

Turkson sparked a controversy at a gathering of bishops last October, when he screened a video called “Muslim Demographics,” which claims Muslims will eventually take over parts of Europe because of immigration and high birth rates.

The church distanced itself from the video, saying it does not express the view of the Vatican.

Cardinal Arinze is 80 years old and hails from southern Nigeria, where he spent 18 years as archbishop in the city of Onitsha.

He is known for engaging in interreligious dialogue, and in 1999 received an award from the International Council of Christians and Jews for “outstanding achievement in inter-faith relations.”

A growing percentage of the Catholic Church’s members come from Africa and South America, and many analysts say cardinals could be ready to select the church’s next leader from one of those continents.

If either Turkson or Arinze were elected, he would become the first non-European leader in more than 1,800 years. VOA
