Business › Re: How Bank Officials Withdrew My Money Through Swallowed ATM Card by 400billionman: 2:23pm On Jun 06, 2018
infocabal:
Good day my fellow Nairalanders.

I have been hearing of this issue, I didn't believe until it happened to me last week.

I went to withdraw money from Diamond Bank ATM in Gwagwalada, Abuja around 9pm. When it was my turn, I slotted in my ATM card entered my Pin and entered the amount of withdrawal. Only for the Machine to be hang, I was then pressing the red button so it reject my card but alas, it Swallowed my Card.

So disappointed, I told the security man, he said there is nothing can be done, that I should go to my bank which is first Bank to get another ATM card.

I went home that night only for me to be seeing alert of N20,065 four times... And 15,065 once.

And the withdrawal location is in Wuse 2, which is about 50km away from Gwagwalada. My account was emptied and only me know my PIN. Even my wife doesn't know it.

So the next morning I went to first Bank to complain about the matter, and they told me someone withdrew the money in another location. I told them how possible is that? When
1. Am the only one that know my PIN
2. The location of withdrawal is 50mins away and I got alert less than that time.
3. The card was swallowed up by Diamond bank ATM and I still waited for it to come out but it didn't.

Infact, the customer care lady said, 2 other people came to complain about the same incident from the same location where my ATM was swallowed.

I was told to visit Diamond bank or the Police.
Quickly I went to police station to lay my complain.
Only for the DPO to tell me to bring N5, 000 to write letter to the bank.
And I told him, where will i get the money from, when they have withdrew all the money in my account.

To cut the long story short, we are still on the matter, I was even made to know that bank officials connive to criminals to get swallowed atm card and correlating PIN, don't really know how true this is.

It's becoming a rampant case gradually, rhetoric relevant authority should be informed please.
My brother listen carefully PREVENTION is better than cure DO not leave large balances in any of your accounts linked to an ATM card unless amounts you can forgo SECONDLY do not use one bank's ATM card on another bank's machine so you can know who to hold incase of irregularities

The police source says command has been given that once it is proved that the body that was burried belongs to Winnie, the one who has reappeared will be shot by police because it would be evident that she is just a ghost.

Winnie caused shock among many citizens in Ndola after appearing home when she died in 2016 and was buried.

Upon arrival from the grave, Winnie told her family that she was not the one who they buried adding that it is satanists who took her hostage.

She also revealed that actually, many people who are considered dead are living under the hostage of satanists.

This meant for those who studied bus.man, acctin and eco in sch can understand this thread. Well, the swap deal with china will surely depreciate the value of dollar in d country. Atleast the demand for dollar wil diminish and supply of yuan wil hyper. Thanks to buhari nd china govt. When the dd for dollar falls, then it will be everywhere for investors to purchase, but swap deal wont allow it be the major currency for transactions again. In nig, 97% of goods imported in we country are from china. Watch dollar fall every week in price nd see it increase in stock
Imports from US into Nigeria still dwarfs balance of trade with China why? US supplies Nigeria with used items like cars. electronics and home appliances while China supplies new goods.

Stay where u dey o.. Uhmm! Nigeria will frustrate your efforts to run a business. I know that first hand. Personally i don't pay tax. My business name is registered, but i don't even have a corporate account. I don't like stress at all biko. Even P. O. S, i no do o. My customers do bank transfer to me.My saving grace is that my shop is in a Police Officer's wives association plaza. Nobody like council or local government comes there to bill us. Even signboard fees people usually pay, i didn't pay a dime because that plaza has immunity from such bills. Since i paid my rent, the only thing i do is just buy my phed unit of N2000, do gotv subscription N1900 and am good to go for the month. Another thing that helps is to buy a prepaid meter. A nepa staff that buys hair from me gave me that advice. Those that are waiting for free one have already incurred bill that's times two or more of what they wud av used in buying a meter. I got mine 20000 and i thank God daily because nothing concerns me and phed again. If I exhaust my unit and decide to stay in darkness, nobody would harass me. Just do your due diligence well before moving to Nigeria to set up a business, it's just God that has been favoring me so far.
You are very wise

This is not encouraging at all. I'm planning to come to Nigeria to invest come November 2018 and all this tax things I'm hearing about is really scaring me. I saw iyabo ojo's rants on tax. I remembered one woman who operates a fast food also complained bitterly. The comments I read online are so scaring. Federal govt tax, state tax, local govt tax, phcn, association, town council etc. Abeg how much be the profit wey person go they pay all this heavy tax? How would one pay salaries after tax deduction? What about the rent?
All these are scaring and not an encouragement to small business owners.

Please I want to ask, what's the way out? My question is for those that have successfully managed a business for years. How have you been able to cope with all these charges abi tax? Can these charges be reduced or negotiated?

I don't want to waste money and then go back and start from the scratch again o. To dey wash bathroom and toilet no easy at all.
If Nigeria is not opened for small business owners, it's better I remain where I am and look for a home base business to do or better still gather all my earnings and relocate to canada than to come to Nigeria and dash govt and her associates all my earnings.
It is lack of information that keep people in the dark IF I tell you say that if you come from abroad with just 20million and the right info information you may not need to work again JUST investments ONLY that people with such knowledge do not share it for free

The problem most married men make in their early marriage is being too soft and scared of consequence. Oga discuss the situation with ur wife and let her know how you feel about it. Let your wife know you didn't marry both and besides you two needs privacy for now. Let her talk to her elder sister about it,give them sometime to act,and if she doesn't leave, then be a man and ask her to and damn the consequence. Is high time people should start saying their mind and stop pretending that all is well while they keep dying slowly in silence.
No mind them people who live in pretence and die slowly

we thank God for their lives.

Something I need yarn about Enugu (a very lovely place I visited from 1990 to late 90ies)

the worst thing killing Enugu is lack of creativity and manufacturing companies. the land suffers from insufficient water and it is a good place for investors. The government should have channeled the resilient locals in the right way. Enugu had great potentials.

the government needs to create a programme that will allow indigenes to participate in inventing something that is unique to the state and manufactured for export and nationwide distribution. Maybe a market where professionals are hired from Israel or the US to train locals in IT or information security.
Enugu would have been a hub of scientific research and invention.

It has an international airport which is close to Anambra but Anambrarians prefer to fly to Lagos instead of Enugu.

The state is landlocked and should have embossed her capacity to invent something that you cannot replicate anywhere else.

all these pumping money to traders is only a plaster to a broken bone. it has been the same cycle for decades and the state is still stagnant. people argue that the state is now developing and when you ask them of the development they mention Toscana. I feel like slapping people who say that. building homes and personal properties does not create jobs to put a state on the stock exchange. scatter all those cheap buildings and build industries that will provide tax money and employment for the state.

Enugu should have invested in hospitality and tourism. The government could have built about 10 more hotels like Nike Lake resort. (that resort was a marvel in Enugu in the 90ies). As cool as Enugu was, the government could have made her a very classy place to rest and cool off away from the boisterous places in Nigeria.

now land is sold at very exorbitant costs and people build caves littering all corners. that is not development.
Enugu in the 90ies was indeed a caol city (cool city). The people and their dance OMG. You just gotta love to come back.

Ugwanyi, take Enugu back to when it was really the coal city. Develop your airport. build hotels and parks. (so shocked to hear that the park near one IFT or INT institution has been converted to Shoprite. So sad. so so sad.

If you ever cruised Enugu in the 90ies you would understand the beauty, the landscape, the horizon, the culture and all that I miss about Enugu.
You insulted Tuscana and also also said the government should build hotels and develop tourism
