@irondome, dupyshoo, superchi, ANBAKO, hartson Just to be clear, for POF held in fixed/term deposits, how long must one have held it to be eligible? |
greetings:You can get information on New Zealand Skilled Worker Migration here https://www.nairaland.com/2986318/new-zealand-skilled-worker-category |
Cecegal:Thanks for further insight. @bolded: IMO, it may be used as a supporting but not as the primary POF. At least, the applicant can access the fund after 4 months of being unemployed in Nigeria. I think it is high time Nigerians who have relocated abroad permanently and who are contributors to the pension fund set up a lobby group to make a case for an amendment to the Pension Reform Act (as amended) that would allow people in their category to access 100% of their RSA since they are no resident in Nigeria. The current regulation did not seem to take into consideration Nigerians in diaspora. |
ANBAKO:Thanks for sharing with us. Are you in Canada now? Looping: hartson, keni, neny2k2 |
greetings:Have you considered Australia and New Zealand? While not giving up on your Canadian dream, you can take a look at the immigration programmes of these countries as "back-up" plans. |
hartson:Well said. Your friend was fortunate; the letter was done for him "codedly". ![]() I called my PFA this morning and asked if they could write such letter on my behalf. The agent paused to confirm and gave me feedback that they don't write such letters. However, she told me that I can have access to 25% of pension contributions 4 months after leaving my job even if I have relocated abroad. My take: Apparently, RSA may not be used as the primary POF but probably as a support since CIC would require funds that are unencumbered. Anyone who intends to use it as additional POF MAY get: RSA statement of account; copy of the Pension Reform Act and asterisked clearly where it was stated that an individual has access to it 4 months after leaving current job and get it notarized supporting it with a brief explanation of how he can have access to the fund once PR is attained. Just my opinion! irondome, zandora, dupyshoo, JesusDWay, iphie25, beyunce, Etfash what do you say? ![]() |
akinis09:Thank you, I am viewing it there now |
Garykasparov:Don't mind WES ![]() My wife sent her ICAN qualification to them for evaluation. To our surprise, weeks down the line, they informed us that they are still awaiting verification from WAEC. Meanwhile, on their website, they stated that if you have post-secondary education of a year or more, secondary education will not be evaluated. We reminded them of this fact but we didn't get any positive response from them. It has been a long wait and we are likely going to ignore them henceforth; ICAS has already evaluated our degrees and we only wanted to increase our EE scores. So, this one that they are just requesting for your wife's WAEC results, I will say that you prepare your minds for a long wait if our experience is anything to go by. Looping: dupyshoo |
JonesPW:I attempted a "mock" order of Bluboo Maya on Gearbest but it says that it cannot ship to Nigeria. Why is that? I observed though that only the Hong Kong warehouse has stock; the China warehouse is out of stock. Any suggestions? Reak, akinis09, tobbie247, Codedzng, Baroba |
In my layman's opinion, there was no coup in Turkey. Erdogan might have staged the coup to strengthen his hold on power. As it is now, he is a step closer to attaining life presidency. It is probably a phantom coup set up to checkmate both real and perceived political foes. He can now clamp down on the opposition with minimal resistance. I may be wrong though. |
What is it about married people that makes them to "kpeme" while playing "away match"? You hardly hear these stories about single people. Married people, especially men, seems to be more susceptible to this kind of fate. Why? |
Have you noticed how most articles on travel in Nigeria are now tailored to suit travellers who opt for air travel? The decision of these lifestyle magazines, newspapers, and blogs to focus on air travel and snub the wonder of the transportation evolution known as the bus travel, is quite astonishing as more people in Nigeria actually travel by bus rather than flying. Buses are still a very viable means of transportation and the demand for them is strong. In a bid to turn the tables around, allow us at Jumia Travel, to present the top 5 reasons why traveling by bus is better than flying. It is cheaper A number one reason to opt for bus travelling rather than air travel is the price. It is way cheaper to travel by bus than by air. The average price of a domestic flight in Nigeria is N12,000, excluding baggage fees and other miscellaneous charges that seem to sneak up on you when booking air travel, while the average price of domestic bus travel is about N 2,000 for a 5-hour trip. Sounds better than that airplane ticket, doesn’t it? Again, unlike airlines which try to lure you in with really affordable deals, but ends up killing your extra costs, with buses, what you see is what you get; everything is included in the price you originally paid. Buses allow for pit stops and sight-seeing Most flights do not make stops. The only ones that do, do so to drop off passengers who need to connect to another flight. Basically, if you are taking a direct flight, there are no hopes of stopping for a short rest, to stretch, get some fresh air, use an actual bathroom and recharge your batteries by getting some food and hot coffee from a restaurant. Even worse, when you are on the plane, you mostly only see clouds; you don’t get the chance to view the scenery on your path. With bus travel, however, you make pits stops to recharge and you will drive through or near popular landmarks on your path for some spectacular views. Wider Reach The routes available via air travel are limited and you basically can only reach very few destinations directly. For instance, if you are headed for Okada in Edo State and you set out via air, you will have to fly to Benin and still take a taxi or bus to Okada. There are no airports in small towns and you cannot find direct flights. With a motor coach bus, you can easily get to your specific destinations easily with one bus ticket. Almost every city or town in Nigeria has bus stations located at central points Less chance of cancellation and missing baggage Baggage handling, which is a big feature of air travelling as passengers are forced to hand over their suitcases before getting on the flight , is not so much of an issue with bus travelling as most passengers in the bus are allowed to take their belonging with them onto the bus and put them in compartments within the bus. This generally reduces the chances of missing luggage. Also, bus as not as affected by climate conditions as airplanes and so a rainy day is hardly a reason for a bus ticket to be cancelled or delayed. No Need for Advance Planning With air travel you do not only have to book your ticket early in order to get a great bargain as costs fluctuate and get more expensive as your date of departure draws near, you also have to arrive the airport extra early and check at least an hour before boarding. With buses, however, it is a whole different story. You are still very much likely to get a pretty decent deal even if you buy your ticket a day or two prior to departure. Also, you do not have to check in and sometimes, the bus may even wait for you extra 5-10 minutes for you to arrive before it departs Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/07/5-reasons-bus-travelling-better-flying-nigeria/ |
HrmOlolade:Thanks for going the extra mile in order to provide more clarifications. Maybe that was the practice then but I honestly cannot recall why I was issued only SOR in 1999. That's over 16 years ago! ![]() The truth is that I have not been to the school since then because I got university admission soon after ND graduation. Any idea as to how long it takes to process either or both the testimonial/certificate? Transcripts? I may visit the town soon and use the opportunity to do the needful. Would be pleased to get your response. |
acenazt:Thanks for the Gambia suggestion. I wouldn't have come here if I thought I knew it all. Nobody is an island of knowledge. You can actually contribute on a thread without being insultive or provocative, you know. Good day. |
@bigtt76: Thanks Ma'am for sharing. ![]() |
HrmOlolade:I have the "Statement of Examination Results" but no testimonial. What does it to process that? Is it something that I can get done in a day? |
acenazt:Mr Oga, you don't have to say anything here if you have nothing useful to say. Nobody forced you to come here. What do you know about Obudu or Tinapa? Nobody is stopping you from staying permanently in your Sambisa. Swerve! |
ever811:Now you know, next! |
Thanks boss @irondome |
I would have preferred a family vacation to any of the following island locations: Zanzibar, Seychelles or Mauritius. However, due to the current state of the naira in relation to forex, my wife and I are considering Ghana to conserve scarce resources. I am fiddling with the thought of booking a beachside hotel to "compensate" for the inability to go to the above-mentioned locations but I would like to ask frequent/recent travellers to the country for their recommendations on good beach hotels in Accra/Ghana that are affordable and nice. Also, what places of interest would make our vacation worthwhile in Accra/Ghana generally? I have searched for information online but it would be nice to get practical insights. Also, is it better to use travel agencies for packaged tours? Thank you. Looping: justwise, Bigtt76, Akintoey, Otunba4eva, V0lv0 |
irondome:I evaluated my Bsc through ICAS but I am thinking of evaluating my MBA through IQAS once I collect my certificate/transcript. Do I have to include my "already-verified" Bsc in the application package to IQAS? What is the implication of having 2 credential assessments? Or do you recommend that I do that through ICAS? They are just too slow! Would it make any difference if I include my National Diploam (ND) qualification? Thank you. |
HrmOlolade:Thanks for your response. I concluded my ND there in 1999 and I have a copy of the "Outgoing Student Clearance Certificate" with me but I am yet to collect my certificate. Knowing that the process could have changed, what is the current process of collecting certificates now? Any useful tip would be appreciated. |

sonet:You need to first rewrite the IELTS and aim at CLB 9. I strongly recommend that you go through Page 0 of this thread to familiarize yourself with Express Entry system which was not in place when you applied back then. You will get all the information you require on that page. However, you can still come back for answers to specific questions. Is your supporter ready to support you now?
