oooooooooooooHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! i will beat somebody o!!!

ok let me say it one more time, ANY mtn fastlink will work with glo!!! make sure the sim is actually activated for the APN u wanna use, unlock the modem, enter the right settings.!!!!

if that fails, (e nor dey fail i don do am many times with that same E156G) then get the firmware for E160G or E160, flash the modem with that one it will probably change ur dashboard too!! or better still flash with the same E156G firmware!!! then do ur thing.

note flashing the firmware is not the same as changing the dashboard software!! believe me even myself didnt realise for long!! i thot i was flashing the modem not knowing i was just changing the dashboard grin grin grin and i did it over and over.

at the weekend i will try to see if i can upload the firmware for E156G and E160G somwhere for reasonable people (note: im not in the habit of helping yahoo boys or hungry resellers of free knowledge). like i said, weekend, i dont have the time during the week and the firmwares are on anor pc i only see at the weekend anyway!!!!

i use my E156G freely and nor be miracle at all, i used to complain b4 too cool cool cool cool cool cool

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Get Your Star Tv Decoder And Watch 40 Cable Channels by 4llerbuntu(m): 4:54am On Oct 02, 2010
hummm, really wierd!! considering also that you can top up via text!

personally i believe it was just a gimmick (if true) by the staff there to fleece him. i say this because my neighbour also left his for over a month, then bought the recharge card and did OTA via fone and was credited for the 2k he loaded for 2 months!! infact he could even view his balance on the decoder.

forward play to my case, i stopped over by their office @ ikeja one evening to pay, they told me they were closed, i cajoled the chaps and they agreed to put the thing in for me, i also paid 2 months. when i got home after 30 mins when i put the decoder on, it was not working. i switched off, went to shower and came back to switch on again and all the channels were back on!!!

and i couldnt see any dime in the acct thing on the decoder. i also remember that whilst i was there one of the staff was complaining about having a shortfall of 9k, meaning he must not have collected the cash from someone for a decoder sale. now how much is the fellas salary wey him go dey reimburse such sums?

so u see, im very convinced that they probably played a smart one on that chap by telling him to pay for 3 months whilst giving him 1 month (IF TRUE!!!)

anyway, lets see if other pple complain, but im pretty sure if u leave it for a year and load up a card it will work and not just swallow ur pin and ask for more grin grin grin

for their sake i hope it aint true sha

WHAT AM I HEARING?

Just read from a customer that once you fail to pay for any month, the moment you want to start payment again you must pay for the months not used! So if a travel outside lagos for 3 months and come back on the 4th month i must pay for 4months? Malix pls look into this. Its called REAPOFF.
confirm your info well o, bros

thats not the case for me and the pple around me o!! besides, i even paid the last month after a 2 week break cos i could'nt get someone to sell me the card and had no time to go get it myself. when i paid it worked in like 30 mins

besides, NTA24 is free even if ur subscription expires.am sure very soon all the local stations will be free too when MTA stops collecting money from them

im in love!!!!!! wink wink wink wink wink wink with songbird

after it has been discontinued for linux cry cry cry cry cry cry

wellz, actually i started having this strange problem with my media players namely banshee (my fav) and rhythmbox. they have taken to crashing religiously. i have tried completely uninstalling and purging and then restarting to install to no avail.
frustrated, i then tried songbird! so far so good, i love the extensions and all, really useful too!

it is well, a mashup of a browser (firefox) and a music player!! and man am loving it, and wondering why i never tried it b4!!. the ease of playing music in one tab and browsing in anor tab just seems to make sense now all of a sudden!!!!
to the discontinued part, well the songbird team say they are no longer updating the linux builds, which i guess leaves us stuck with the v1.2 currently in the repos, but hey nonetheless e still dey kampe!! grin grin grin

heard about a package called preload?

Preload is nice little application that could make your linux system a lot more snappier. Preload is an adaptive readahead daemon. It monitors applications that users run, and by analyzing this data, predicts what applications users might run, and fetches those binaries and their dependencies into memory for faster startup times.

Preload packages are available for almost all linux distributions. And it is available by default in the Synaptic Package Manager in Ubuntu. Alternatively, you can install it via Terminal.

sudo apt-get install preload

cheers, till i come again, someone pls keep this thread alive its becoming embarassing!! undecided undecided undecided

^^^ succintly put @ audacious!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!

i really don't understand the aura of superior "diligent and not lazy" being proudly touted!!

like i said before, @ george.d and disciples, your pple are one lazy buncha.***** , why you may ask?= haha, don't u know that you can put up the blocks to build your apartment or palace or whatever it is you live in? dont you know it does not take much to make a table and chair? how can you be giving money away to carpenters and builders?
even this internet that you are using to insult our collective intelligence and indolent lifestyle, are you even remotely aware that you could get it for free WITH THAT SAME FTA DISH YOU ARE SO PROUD OF? No you are simply too lazy and indolent to do little research and are paying mtn and co thousands of naira a month!

so because one chooses not to want to fiddle with dishes and whatever makes one indolent and the chinese wise? indolence now equates to not wanting to look up the sattelite co-ordinates of france24 beams?

startimes is FTA stations 99% yes, i agree. is the fact that we pay 1k too much for you to stomach?  grin grin grin grin

hmmn,o ye wise one, kindly tell me the statistic of how many people in the UK choose not to be indolent and pay SKY for TV and instead buy FTA and watch?
O Ye Wise hardworking lord of F.T.A!!!

does it even occur to you that maybe, just maybe, of the DSTV channels that are not free, there are programs that some people absolutely like and can pay for in their opinion?

well pretty please, lets put it this way, and am trying to be really nice, F--u--C---k!!!! and its USERS, some of us dont wanna watch FTA, and we will not be insulted for our choice!!!

i cannot imagine insulting the rest of nairaland simply because i know how to manipulate networks for , and other dont!! it also takes a bit of research and "non-indolence" (if there is such a word)!!!!!!!

Wow, Arsenal Have A Proper Striker,
Posted 28/09/10 22:42EmailPrintSave

The plaudits (or 'laudits', according to Ben Shephard) will go to Jack Wilshere for his eye-catching display and his sumptuous part in Andrei Arshavin's opener. Lucasz Fabianski may also get some grudging respect for stopping one of the two penalties conceded by the Gunners in Belgrade and pulling off one other impressive save. But tonight, ladies and gentlemen, I want to talk about Marouane Chamakh.

When Nick Miller put together his top ten buys of the summer, there was some disquiet from Arsenal fans about the Moroccan's free transfer not featuring on the list. He spluttered something about Chamakh being unproven but I always suspected 'oh I forgot him' would have been the more accurate response.

Chamakh may not in the class of Didier Drogba, Carlos Tevez, Fernando Torres or Dimitar Berbatov but he exactly fits the remit for Arsenal. His fourth goal of the season may have been scruffy when held up alongside almost every other goal the Gunners will score this year, but it's precisely the kind of goal they would not have scored last season.

A lofted ball into the box, the determination of the striker to get his head to the ball, the poacher's instinct to react quickest when the ball comes back off the crossbar. It was like Emmanuel Adebayor never left.

It's clearly taking some time for the concept to sink in amongst his teammates - who look almost as surprised as the rest of us to see one of their number darting towards the front post when they're out wide rather than waiting in an arc outside the box with everyone else - but Chamakh is a proper centre-forward.

That's not to say that he's a one-trick pony in the Michael Owen mould (though his burst of pace followed by a theatrical tumble did remind one of a younger Owen) because his contribution outside the box makes him a bona fide Arsenal-style player. As a geek who revels in such numbers, I've been interested to see his pass completion statistics have consistently matched or bettered the Gunners midfielders this season. Trust me, this is unusual for an out-and-out striker.

But going into Sunday's clash with Chelsea, it will not be Chamakh's ability to keep the ball that will be worrying the Blues defence. After all, they've easily outmuscled Arsenal's pass masters in their last three consecutive clashes. Rather, it will be Chamakh's willingness to get himself into the box and make a nuisance of himself that could well be the Gunners' best and hitherto unusual chance to buck the trend.

put succintly, yes. in the sense that following your line of reasoning just because it is possible to get something free makes it imperative for a man to get the knowledge of that freebie!!!! you know of FTA, i know of FBT!!

anyway, let me clarify for onlookers, this is not a discussion about a contest between fta and pay tv alternatives. i for one do not regard DSTV, HITV or STARTV highly at all.

but, it started out because the issue of startimes came up once and i was irked by the blatant disdain and de-marketing going on by FTA proponents, added to the general seeming opinion that people who patronised pay-tv were somewhat stupid for doing so!!!

IT DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT!!!!!

just because its convenient for you to do FTA does not make it the absolute greatest thing in the world to view tv!!! for a variety of reasons even including simply that some do not like FTA and want to subscribe to pay tv!!!! its their money!! and they believe me, are not stupid!!

as i have said before, does the fact that you pay for internet access whilst some of us use it absolutely free and unrestricted make you a stupid person? we also apply a wee bit of knowledge too!! and interest!

END.!!

by BB i mean Big Brother. and quite frankly u have to be living under a rock to not know its one of DSTV best selling programmes and has a large followership in nigeria. the fact u and i dont like it, does not make it any less popular!! or is big brother africa available on Astra4?

secondly, how many other SAT streams is really that good other than nilesat and the other new one with Aljazeera ? or is TV Madagascar now a great station alongside several irrelevant and absolutely useless arab speaking stations?

and pls i presume you are either a student or self-employed and as such do not understand how some people can actually not have the time mostly nor the energy when free to want to bother about having to tweak a sat just to watch TV.

in case u dont get my drift, am not even speaking for myself alone, cos in my case i dont watch more than say 6hrs tv every week, and thats like 5hrs footy and 1hr MTV at the most, but u people really need to getur heads outta ya backside about this FTA thing.

i would also like to suggest that u learn how to hack 3g services for free internet. !!!

to put it in your words: " besides, it's a sign of mental laziness to pay for something that can be gotten free of charge (with just a little bit of knowledge) even if that product retails for one naira"

or u are not aware that with a little knowledge pple have been getting unltd internet free in naija?
or even phone calls?

cos way i see it u seem to think FREE is the ultimate thing in a man's life!!!

these FTA pple can really be funny.

so to your minds now you know a lot and i know little? i can definitely assure you, without trying to be arrogant, that i know quite a lot more than all of you pple combined, FACT. and i dont try to come across as being the all-knowing overlord.

do u pple actually realise that there could be a perspective outside of your own as regards this satellite tv thing? so to your mind everyone who pays for sat tv is stupid?

lolz. i cant laff, and i really would not like to go into the gutter over stuff as trivial as tv, personally i still dont get how MEN can have so much time to watch tv such that its such a big deal.

i am domiciled in lagos, i knew about FTA as early as when i was 10 years old, a really long time ago when arabsat was the in thing. i have spent countless time outside lagos where FTA was the mainstay, yet one DUNCE on NL now thinks im not smart enough to decide whether i want to install FTA or buy DSTV?

FYI, i have it on good authority that to install and get Nilesat streams in lagos i need at least a 3M pan. to get the sat with the stations with prem footy now i need 4M.
now o ye smart ones, from your knowledge of lagos, how many houses can one string up a 4M pan in lagos? the four flat apartments? or the twin duplexes with no space to even park your car? or you think 70 percent of lagos pple are landlords? or have the freedom available to pple outside lagos

or paying some agent to help me get a card with subscription from some arab country is different from paying dstv? ok its cheaper shey?

and FYI, i really dont like DSTV etc, but i know for a fact that they have some pretty addictive programs which seem to be their mainstay like say BB, now pple who are into that kinda stuff are stupid for liking that and not MBC2

to put it kindly, i do not pretend to be a techy person. i veer toward other pursuits in life, fortunately i have met very few people who know more about tech stuff than i do, so having banter on NL about FTA does not make one less knowledgeable or unwilling to learn o YE GREAT ALL KNOWING FTA NERDS.

quite frankly, TV remains an insignificant part of some of us lives, barring football so i truly fail to understand the STUPID passion for tv exhibited on this board like it was an end of life itself. i have been watching football FREE for the past 3 years, any league, any match without using a dish, decoder or whatsoever. maybe thats why am so dumb about FTA, like watching a whole lotta arab speaking stations is such a hobby for any sane person

some pple wanna buy DSTV, get some one to set it up and watch by paying. they dont really wanna know how to move a dish, and they have specific interests that are most likely not available on FTA, bite them.

i dont have any such needs, but then i wont tell them they are stupid for wanting to do DSTV. ditto pple who buy startimes (do u even understand that pple live in single rooms in lagos and startimes represent their easiest choice to digital TV?) and startimes actually is a good idea whether u agree or not. you dont have to buy or like it, just dont tell those who do they are stupid for so doing.

in practical terms thats like me telling you you are foolish for paying for internet which you use to get on NL, just cos me have been using free internet for 3 years and counting!!!
