European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by 4llerbuntu(m): 6:19pm On Sep 17, 2014
In 1993 cult film Groundhog Day, Bill Murray's
character Phil wakes up to live the same day
over and again. At first it's fun, interesting, but
the novelty soon wears off and Phil tires of his
monotonous daily existence. In one memorably
deadpan montage, things get so bad that he
starts finding new ways to end his own life. He
jumps off a church ledge, steps out in front of
a van, and takes a toaster to the bath - but
each time the alarm goes at 6am the next
morning and Phil wakes up with the same
Sonny and Cher song playing on the radio. "I
got you babe".

Only 36 hours after transfer deadline day and Arsenal fans (of which I am one) would be
forgiven for wondering whether they are
trapped inside their very own Groundhog Day.
Another new season is already being marked
by the same old stories. First, an injury crisis
ahead of the key Champions League qualifier
against Besiktas (which they went on to win,
entering European football's premier
competition for the 17th straight season). And
now, the transfer window closes in sneakingly
anti-climactic fashion.

Yes, Alexis Sanchez is the type of signing that
gets fans renewing season tickets; yes, Mathieu Debuchy , Calum Chambers and David Ospina all appear reasonable replacements for exiting stars. And yes, eve the capture of Danny Welbeck may turn out to be a masterstroke. But where was the
incoming midfield muscle that Arsenal have
lacked since Alex Song hastened his own
departure to Barcelona over two years ago?
Where were the reinforcements that the team's
paper thin defence so palpably needs? What
happened to all those nearly almost completed
deals?

The sneaking suspicion is that after showing
early intent, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have
failed to keep up with the 'Top 4 Joneses'
during yet another transfer window. It's like
the alarm has ticked over to 6am and the
same story is about to happen all over again.
Nine predictions for the next nine
months...
......................

1. September to October - A solid start raises
early season hopes. Despite their
underwhelming first three games to this year's
season, Arsenal traditionally start well: they've
been in the top four by the end of October
five times in the last seven years.
The early season promise reached its zenith
last year, when Aaron Ramsey ran amok in
September and October to propel Arsenal to
the top of the table nine games in. That's not
to say that the 2013-14 campaign turned out
any differently to the normal Groundhog
Season, however.

2. October to November - Squad limitations
become apparent. Arsenal's longstanding
issue
with big teams continues. They struggle to
assert themselves against Manchester United
and Borussia Dortmund, while Chelsea enjoy a
comfortable victory at Stamford Bridge, where
Cesc Fabregas artfully bulldozes Mikel Arteta
in midfield Outmuscling: Former captain Cesc Fabregas could prove too strong for Mikel Arteta

3. December - Results improve as the transfer
window beckons. Arsenal are linked with a
host
of names during the month, including Sami
Khedira , William Carvalho, Adrien Rabiot ,
and every other deep-lying midfielder who
looks like he could beat Arteta in an arm
wrestle. But the month's opposition - including
Southampton, Newcastle, QPR and West Ham -
prove little problem for Arsenal, and Wenger
insists in his post-match interviews that he is
happy with his squad and is only interested in
bringing in "top, top quality".
December also sees the return of Wenger's
famed 15 tog Michelin Man coat.
Keeping warm: Arsene Wenger will dig out
his 15-tog sleeping bag in December

4. January - Wenger announces 'signing' as
the
transfer window closes. While his top four
opponents add to their squads, Wenger speaks
only of how much he dislikes the January
transfer window. Midway through the month,
Arsenal travel to Manchester City in a game
that's billed - somewhat hopefully - as a test
of
their title credentials. They lose.
When asked about the possibility of new
signings after the game, Wenger says that the
return of Oliver Giroud, now recovered from
his broken ankle, is "like a new signing". It's
not - and it wouldn't be the defensive-minded
signing the team needs anyway - but no
matter. We've been here before and, most
likely, we'll be here again.
Returning: Olivier Giroud will be back in
January and like a 'new signing'

5. February - Injuries take their toll. After
playing two 90-minute games a week since
early September, Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil
and Aaron Ramsey suffer the first in what turns
out to be a series of muscular problems that
effectively curtail their seasons.

6. March - Arsenal go out of the Champions
League. Having finished second in their group
to Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal draw Bayern
Munich in the Round of 16. They lose, exiting
the competition at the same stage for the fifth
straight year in a row.

7. April - Flat track bullies get flattened.
Arsenal's annual spring implosion coincides
with the visits of Liverpool and Chelsea, who
take advantage of an injury-ravaged squad
that
visibly lacks confidence. Expect tennis-style
scorelines.
Mathieu Flamini is suspended for either one or
both of these games, having picked up a
yellow
card in every one of his previous 10 substitute
appearances.

8. April to May - The Emirates empties. With
every passing home game, the number of
empty red seats grows, spreading like chicken
pox through the crowd....but Arsenal continue
to announce attendances of over 59,000.
Dejected: An early Champions League finish
could feature in March

9. May - Arsenal finish fourth in the Premier
League. The club has now finished either third
or fourth for 10 seasons in a row (seven
fourths, three thirds).

They qualify for the Champions League for the
18th straight season.
As the team complete their lap of honour and
thanks in their final home game of the season,
'I Got You Babe' plays out over the tannoy at
the Emirates.

To think about it. the best thing Tecno fans can do for themselves is To

1. learn how To make rom dumps of their devices,

2. Dump stock Roms from each device when it gets released and

3. Upload them to some sharing site so that you can refer folks to it

that way not all problems will end up at carlcare.

some guys can write up tutorials for dumping and flashing the ROMs and other similar stuff

That will be hard to get because not everyone likes being insulted by Tecno Fans, which is what invariably occurs .

meanwhile @ puskin is It possible to have threads that can be stickied and locked/edited by just maybe the mod. they can be used to aggregate info such as these.
so particular posts in other threads can be referred To mods to be added the sticky threads if they are really good. they have to be locked to prevent people turning them to Q and A threads.

kinda like the rules thread stickied on all boards currently. sections like computer and phones could use this.

moreover u know how these chinese phone marketers/users like creating threads.....

please suggest it to seun lets hear what he thinks.

The entire process is automated for ease...... Only very times u need manual install and when u do the deb files usually contain all it needs. Only manual install I've done in years is google chrome

If u have all the deb files/ dependencies downloaded, copy them into a folder right click in that folder and choose the "open in terminal" option. Then type this in the terminal

All your hardware drivers should work out of the box. There is a proprietary drivers installer that prompts you if u need to install other drivers, and it is automated too.

Very Simply...
Federative Rights = Registration....Only clubs can register players with the FA
Economic Rights = The rights to exploit federative rights for financial gain...
You can see that these are different from contracts. And it is the Economic Right that is sold and transferred at Player transfer NOT contracts...
Stick to linux and stop fooling yourself here grin
kai. im tired.

so please link how this u have posted binds a player to a club/compels him to move to another club.

clearly it is clubs that participate in the FA's competitions. so quite naturally a player will not register himself with the FA.

so when club a buys the right to register a player, and acquire the right to use this player for economic gain (that is use this player in that FA's competitions), how then does the club compel the player to work for them?

so if they buy the 'federative' rights, how does this bind a player who decides that he would rather spend his time on the beach in brazil?

u do realize this is not a master slave scenario right?

Nihilist: This suggests that Chelsea can enforce a contract that Rooney signed with Manyoo, so long as Chelsea can prove an agreement with Manyoo,/b] No?

This is the Manyoo thread...it's all out war here...Daft men like you cannot survive in this zone.
no wonder!!

this dolt does not even understand what an assignment of rights under a contract means.

this free legal lecture i'm giving you sef.........

[b]dunce,
when a contract is assigned, the assignee adopts the position of the assignor. that is, he steps into the place of the assignor, and becomes entitled to exercise the rights of the assignor, and is obligated to take up the burden borne by the assignor under that contract.

it is as if there is a replacement of 'persons'.

what this effectively means is, using your manyoo and chelsea analogy, chelsea will become entitled to exercise whatever rights manyoo had under that contract. chelsea takes the place of manyoo. you can as well replace the name of manyoo with chelsea under it.

you know how coogar owns a house and the C of O is in his name.
then he sells to you and gives you the C of O. now it will still be in Coogars name at the time, obviously, till you change it to your name.

in that period that you had not changed it, the property is still yours as you have a deed of assignment stating that coogar has transferred it to you, inspite of the fact that coogar's name is still on the title.

now as i painstakingly explained earlier, a players contract is a MULTI-PARTY AGREEMENT meaning you have to carry along the player when making this deal, otherwise the player may decide to resile and go to court to be extricated from it.

i have deliberately refrained from throwing insults with you. i advice you do same. not only are you making a mockery of you self with your illogical and unlearned arguments, but you are also looking like a fool with all the ad-hominems

So I dont see the point of this statement...Are you suggesting that once Manyoo and Chelsea agree a fee even in writing for Rooney, Rooney is contractually obligated to Chelsea?
i doubt if you even read to comprehend.

when man yoo and chelsea do their agreement in writing, how does that agreement bind rooney or compel rooney to be obligated to chelsea?

smh.

you do know contracts are assignable ......... right?....

if there is no assignment, how does the player get released from his original contract? they terminate it how? without the players consent
or they all just pretend it does not exist?

or is a football contract only about "economic rights' without more?

ok. no need to pursue this further.

you don't have the knowledge nor the nous to argue this effectively. keep quoting a wikipedia article that uses american legal terminology for your half-assed assertion.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by 4llerbuntu(m): 2:30pm On Sep 05, 2014
Nihilist: Errm excuse me?
Quick Wikipedia perusal shows this:
In professional football, a transfer is the action taken whenever a player under contract moves between clubs. It refers to the transferring of a player's registration from one association football club to another. In general, the players can only be transferred during a transfer window and according to the rules set by a governing body. Usually some sort of compensation is paid for the player's rights, which is known as a transfer fee. When a player moves from one club to another, his old contract is terminated and he negotiates a new one with the club he is moving to, unlike in American, Canadian and Australian sports, where teams essentially trade existing player contracts
the compensation paid for the player is the premium the selling club asks for to agree to assign their rights

coogar already explained this to you.

1.

A club has a contract with a player. They have agreed to give consideration of a certain amount of money (and other things depending on what was agreed) to the player over a length of time. lets say this amount is 100 naira for 5 years =500 naira.
this amount reduces year on year as it is paid out.

the player in turn agrees to render some services to the club for that same period of time, and also to restrictions stipulated by the club which includes exclusivity amongst other things

2
the club being a business also intends to make some money from having the right to use the player. this translates to different things.
sponsorships, endorsements, projected sums from winning competitions etc. this list is usually open ended.
the club usually calculates that for paying 500 naira, they stand to gain X naira over this 5 years.

this is the so-called economic rights.

To transfer a player you will

i. Buy what is leftover of the contract.

this is because upon execution, the player is entitled to the entire sum in the contract (unless some release clause in included which reduces the club's exposure)

The club cannot give out a player to you permanently without assigning their obligations under that contract. otherwise they will have breached the contract. he will sue them for the balance. this is also why clubs have to pay off players to terminate their contracts unilaterally

secondly, the rights which the club has over the player cannot be exercised by the purchaser under that contract as they are not a party to the contract! A contract between Man Utd and Rooney cannot be enforced by Chelsea unless Chelsea can show a document that states that Man Utd has assigned their rights to them!

therefore, what enables them to exercise this rights is the proof of assignment. This is what sharp agents have over young players at the start until a club purchases it. E.G THIS IS WHAT SHITTU HAD WITH MIKEL THAT ENABLED HIM SELL TO MAN UTD RATHER THAN CHELSEA. THEY HAD NOT SIGNED THE ASSIGNMENT OF HIS RIGHTS OVER MIKEL YET.

ii.

the selling club is also faced with losing their projected profit on the player, so they ask for a premium to cover their loss of rights.
this clearly differs from player to player and counts a whole lot.

a player who is projected to sell 1 million shirts has more value than one who sells 100. therefore the selling club will tell you they have potential to make profit of x on shirt sales from this guy, pay us x also.
this is then negotiated and agreed.

iii. the purchasing club also has to convince the player that we will pay you Y amount for your services to replace what the selling club would have given you. this is negotiable and includes things like bonuses

addon carrots are a percentage of the economic rights etc. Ronaldo had this at United, and agreed to give up some of it to facilitate the gargantuan transfer fee he attracted.

iv. the player's agent(s) if smart would have a clause inserted into every contract the player signs that they are entitled to X amount or X percentage of agreed transfer fee between clubs for every transfer. this is added on to the final figure.

the purchasing club after securing the assignment, then replaces the old contract with a new one with the player(this is essentially what the player agrees to anyway, to enter into a new contract to replace the one bought by the purchasing club)

its not rocket science.

and no, i'm also not interested in arguing with you. if in doubt, talk to a player agent.

of course you are done.

you have little knowledge of how player transfers work, and you don't want to know despite being told for free.

if you cannot fathom that what is being 'bought' is actually an assignment of an existing contract which involves a footballer then u cannot grasp the nuances.

since when do people buy contracts for less than its value? u mean if you have a contract worth 500 million with the federal govt you can assign it for 100 million?

you buy out contractual rights belonging to a party, then negotiate with the footballer on his remuneration as guaranteed under the contract.

why do you think 3rd party ownership is problematic? there's more than 1 person to convince to give up their rights under a contract and quite often each party wants a premium on their valuation of what will accrue to them over the term of the contract!
and this is even before negotiating with the player to enter into another one with you!

all it takes is a few words on NL. there's no contract to breach here please. otherwise kindly shut it and enjoy the rollercoaster. bitch and complain when the club lose, jump and brag when it wins. that's what its about. so Bleep what if your club is not number one? so? hell will freeze or what?

a few months ago a big club finished the season in 8th place, another with far better players ended the season trophy less....... useless giroud and no DM team won spoon.
