Deeds:If movies are no big deal, why are they busy broadcasting Arab movies?Surely,if Hollywood movies are easy to make good upon, they would have sorted that out by now before taking money from people. There are intellectual property issues involved in broadcasting such movies and am sure that is why they have resorted to showing Nigerians Arab movies |
debosky:It is well established that a person who delegates his powers can be legally responsible for how such powers are exercised. Imagine for instance that the VP of the US was indicted for corruption in similar circumstances as in the Nigerian case, would it be taken as accepted that the VP is solely at fault and that Bush has no case to answer? Where powers are confered which can be exercised exclusively by a person and such a person choses to assign such powers ,the person still has some measure of responsibility for how the powers are exercised. That is why here in the West,Ministers take responsibility for the wrongful acts of their subordinates not because they are masochistic but because they bear some measure of responsibility |
belloti:It is this typical descent into denial mode that irritates people about the muslim community. There seems to be 2 breeds of muslim, those who deny incidents of Islamic extremism(the mainstream muslims) and those who passionately endorse it(the extremists). Muslims always assert their opposition to extremism but there is no clearer way of showing opposition than by expressly speaking out against such particular incidents. The failure to speak out gives the impression that they are either, at worse complicit or at best disinterested. This feeds into growing Islamophobia, the existence of which muslims are quick to point out but slow to address the root causes. I was not suprised by this kind of reaction. We can't talk about religious harmony if one side has chosen to play the ostrich |
@finemocha The fact is that fewer are people are marrying and when they do,they do so at a later age than before in the West.Whether your colleagues in the Medical profession share the same approach is irrelevant . It is true that there can be problems with marrying at an older age but you will find actually very few children with medical problems attributable to "old" parents. It is clear that in Nigeria,Southerners marry later than the Fulani, yet there is no evidence that the Fulani kids are uniquely healthier than their Southern counterparts. I think if such a problem was pervasive, there would have been a national debate in Britain about it. |
@Thief Those genetic diseases are very rare .You are basically implying that offsprings of older women on average look worse than those of younger women. That is not the case |
I am the last person to post here.Anyone who posts after me will suffer the painful consequences ![]() |
ThiefOfHearts:Am sure if you check the US,you will the same trend. It is a general trend across the Western world. The marriage institution is collapsing and those who get married are doing so at an older age In some ways, they are moving towards the Southern Nigerian attitude of marrying later in life |
@finemocha While its true that many Western men will marry young the average age for getting married is going higher. In the UK,I think its now 37 for men Very few people want to get hitched in their 20s |

In every rape situation, the man is to blame. In some rare cases, their might be a case to be made for attaching blame to the victim. In the UK,if you sleep with a woman who is intoxicated, that can constitute grounds for a rape charge. For instance,a couple go partying and drink themselves to stupor as is normal in England. They get home and start having sex,the women is free to claim rape if she can establish that she did not expressly ask for sex.If she did not verbally ask for sex,the man can be charged . In a recent case, the lady claimed that she was soo drunk she could not remember whether she told the man,who was equally drunk, that she actually wanted sex.The case was dismissed but judges are now told that in such circumstances, the verdict should be guilty. |
Free:You seem to say it like you had plans that he will hook up with you ![]() |
@mukina We are sending you Dong Fangzhou as striker to replace Aliaderre. ![]() |
@orp Na lie!I have been beating many people's children in Lonodn and I have not been arrested yet ![]() The fact of the matter is that a majority of parents in the UK smack their kid.Social services will step in if smacking goes over the top especially if it results in bodily wounds(without visible signs you can deny smacking your kids) |
twinstaiye:Your post hinges on faith rather than evidence.Goodies at the end of the tunnel? How do you know that? |
@Gidig I know that the claim you made, about a top 5 side coming to Nigeria,is contained in one of the dailys.I believe I saw it in Vanguard However,I still stand by my point that the Premiership top 5,Liverpool,Arsenal,Man Utd and Chelsea, are not coming to Nigeria. Not a single one of them is coming. Most of the top 5's schedule for the summer is already fixed .No other premiership club is coming either. For they to suggest that is incredible.Nigerians can be a bit gullible. Those who already have HITV can testify that it is nothing to write home about. All the great claims being made about the company comes mainly from the company. For some reason,we take what they say at face value. All HITV is doing is marketing their product in a Nigerian manner and people should not believe everything a businessman tells you about his product |
