I knew someone whose husband was always threatening to throw her out and divorce her, when she finally got tired and decided to leave he locked her in for 2 days she had to break out and now its over 3 years he is refusing to appear in court, refusing to sign the divorce papers.

Op I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me, from lemme help this guy until he gets on his feet. The guy ended up stating with me for 2years. And he knew I liked staying alone but didn't care. He would eat.my food and not contribute a dime to the upkeep of the place. When I finally asked him to go it turned to big quarrel as if he was doing me a favour by staying.

My advice. Send him on his way now. If you can't do it politely do it with gra-gra. Such people will still vex for you even if you let him stay for free for five years.

WOW! A MASSIVE subject. You could research this for YEARS. (And it is fascinating!)

So I will mention a few points only not to necessarily agree or even disagree with them but as very interesting points.

The Bible is a COLLECTION of books. The chosen books are called the CANON of SCRIPTURE - CANON meaning Standard or Norm.
The original manuscripts were written in Aramaic and Hebrew and (primarily for the New Testament) Greek. These have been translated into the contemporary language of many different times and locations to reflect the fact that we speak different languages AND the fact that language and words change meanings over the years. Eg The King James Version was almost certainly the best translation for the English speaking world in the 1600's. It is now much more difficult to read without misunderstanding and there are much more relevant and recent translations available. (PERSONALLY I prefer the NIV although the ASV and ESV have much to recommend them).

There was MUCH more controversy over the New Testament than over the Old Testament for reasons that would complicate matters even further!
There was more controversy over what was included than over what was excluded.
2 Peter, Jude, John 1,2,3, Hebrews and Revelation caused considerable soul searching.

Over 2000 manuscripts were considered for the New Testament - obviously most of these failed the various criteria for acceptance!
(Many [most?] of these were easily dismissed and heretical from second century Gnostics)

Marcion introduced a Canon in the first century with ONLY 11 books! (This guy omitted the entire Old Testament with the argument that the Old Testament God was nasty and angry!!!)

Other Canons were proposed by Athanastius, Origen and Irenaeus. Mostly these differed by what they excluded, Irenaeus took exception to Hebrews, James, John 2 & 3 (but NOT 1) and Jude.

Today there are two primary Canon

The Catholic from the Council of Trent (1545-1563)
The 'Protestant' (for want of a better term) from the Council of Carthage (397)

These differ mainly by the Catholic acceptance of the Apocrypha books from the intertestamental period.
Most 'Protestant' groups regard the Apocrypha as NOT divinely inspired BUT enlightened i.e. Useful reading and generally correct but not inspired by God.

As an interesting sub point Martin Luther originally did not accept the Book of James but later changed his mind!

To decide if a book was divinely inspired and should therefore be accepted the following criteria were applied:
1) Was the author an apostle or have a close connection with an apostle?
2) Is the book being accepted by the body of Christ at large?
3) Did the book contain consistency of doctrine and orthodox teaching?
4) Did the book bear evidence of high moral and spiritual values that would reflect a work of the Holy Spirit?

From a purely Personal point of view number two is the one I find most difficulty with but that's just me!

Anyways that is my contribution but if you come up with any more interesting facts/data etc I would love to hear! Let me know directly ot add to this thread or even perhaps open a thread (I am sure such a vast and interesting topic deserves a thread all of its own)!

“Okay folks, it’s time to go.” Dr Stephan called out from the main room.

Dr Burke and Silas came out as well as Caleb and Efe who was looking much more human by now. The five of them looked like they were going to start a war. Armed with all sorts from automatic machine guns to pistols and grenades, they looked like a team from Rambo: First Blood. Despite himself, Efe was grinning from ear to ear and carrying a portable bazooka.

“Na the sh1t be dis.” He whispered to Caleb who grinned back.

“ Alright folks listen up.” Silas said. “Dr Burke is taking us straight to the, er, armoured tank at the secret base below the parking lot. Dr Burke and Dr Stephan are of highest priority, they must get to that vehicle alive. I’ll be leading the group, Caleb and Efe will cover our rear. That okay?”

Caleb cocked his shotgun. “You can count on us bro.”

Silas nodded. “Alright then, let’s move out.” And headed for the door.

“Wait.” Dr Burke said. “We don’t have to go through that way. There’s a secret passage behind the toilet.”

Silas watched incredulously as Dr Burke led the way back to the toilet and opened the armoury door once again. He started moving some of the remaining weapons aside and Caleb joined in to help him. Soon one of the walls was free and Dr Burke began to feel alongside its edges until he came to a part the felt hollow. He tapped on it three times and the whole wall slipped backwards and outwards like a door into a long dark tunnel. It was high enough to take an average man and wide enough to take only one

“You have some serious trust issues.” Silas said as he entered the tunnel. Dr Stephan followed then Dr Burke and Stephan and then big Efe.

“I can’t see my hand in front of my face.” Dr Stephan grumbled as the went along. “What happened to the lighting?”

“I don’t know, must have blown a fuse and no one to fix it during the confusion.' Dr Burke replied.

They reached the end of the tunnel without incident and then Silas hands came across an abrupt end. He felt the barricade and finally recognized what it was.

“It’s a sliding door!”

“Good work Silas.”Dr burke said. Now feel along the edge for a small button and press it, the door should slide open.'

Silas felt along the side of the door until he touched the button and then he pressed it. There was a gentle whooshing noise as the door slid back. Silas walked into more darkness.

“Where is this place?”

“Under the parking lot.” Dr Burke said, walking into the room and past him. “Wait, let me turn on the lights.”

He moved further into the dark and there was a click. Suddenly the whole place was filled with light. They were in an underground room with a moderately high ceiling, one powerful overhead lamp serving as a source of light. There were scattered papers and woodwork everywhere as if there had been a struggle. And at the far side of the room, an armoured vehicle was parked.

“Holy shit, man.” Caleb gasped. “I thought you were joking.”

“We kind of prepared for any eventuality.” Dr Stepahn chipped in with a grin. “Of course Burke knows more about the working of this place than I do.”

“Looks like someone was trying to get out of here in a hurry.” Silas murmured, kicking though the papers and other stuff.

“When the zombies infiltrated the building, there was a lot of commotion. I guess some folks tried getting out through this way but never made it.”

“Wait, doesn’t that mean we are supposed to see some zombies here, or at least dead bodies?” Caleb asked.

“Nah, the struggle you see here looks more like someone trying to gather his papers together. He probably was working in this room when the
alarm hit, packed as many of his works that he could and then hightailed it through the passage back to the panic room and out of the building.” Dr Stephan said.

“Still, just to be sure, come Efe.” Caleb ordered and he and Efe went to check all the nooks and crannies of the room. They moved cautiously around the Armoured car and then opened up some wardrobes and a toilet they found at the main entrance to the room. They saw nothing.

“Alright then. Let’s not dilly dally here.”Silas said. “Dr Burke, open the gate or whatever it is that needs opening let’s drive out of here. The rest of you in the tank.

Dr Burke nodded and went to a panel in the wall and started punching some keys. The panel immediately came to life with shining lights.

Dr Stephan and Silas climbed the armoured car to get to the hatch.

“The good thing about this car is that once we are in we can activate the safety catch and no one will be able to open it from the outside. We’ll be perfectly safe.”

He opened it and Silas helped lower him down. He turned to pick Caleb who was being helped up by Efe.

“No! Aaaaaaaargh!!!”

Silas turned back in alarm towards Dr stephan’s screams and looked down the hatch. There were three zombies down there! They had grabbed Dr Stephan who was trying valiantly to fight them off. Two of the zombies were dressed in military apparel and the last one was dressed as a lab scientist.

Silas ignored yells from Caleb and jumped down the hatch into the fray. He smashed the head of the zombie going for Dr Stephan’s neck with the butt of his gun and managed to pull him free from the other two who had already started chewing on his arms. The zombies snarled and tried attacking once more but Caleb jumped in too and shoved them away with his gun. He pointed it at them…

“Don’t shoot!” Dr Stephan gasped, bleeding terribly. “The bullet could ricochet in here and kill all of us!”

“Pull Stephan up!” Silas shouted to Efe who lowered his hand and grabbed Dr Stephan by the collar of his lab coat. Dr Stephan was hauled up like a rag doll even as the zombies launched another attack. They grabbed Caleb and one of them bit into his leg. Caleb screamed and fired his shotgun and the zombie’s head exploded. Efe on hearing Caleb’s scream jumped down the hatch and confronted the other zombies.

“Both of you get out!” He shouted and Caleb climbed out, helped by Silas. Efe pointed his machine gun at one of the approaching zombies.

“Payback!” He shouted and fired a hail of bullets.

“Efe, No!” Caleb shouted just as some of the bullets ricocheted off the walls of the armoured car and pierced his skull. Another bullet went into the armour car controls and smashed the motherboard to pieces. The two remaining zombies that had received the onslaught of the hail of bullets head-on, collapsed in a heap of dismembered flesh.

“Damn it Efe you idiot!” Caleb cried as Efe collapsed to the floor dead.

Silas pulled him back “It’s over. I’m so sorry man.”

“What the hell happened!” Dr Burke shouted pointing his gun as they all came down. Dr Stephan collapsed in a heap on the ground, still bleeding and Caleb limped down, nursing his bitten leg.

“Are you bit?!” Dr Burke gasped. He brought out his backpack and rummaged through for the antidote and sprayed it on Caleb’s face. Caleb inhaled it and sat back.

“One of the bullets destroyed the controls. This tank isn’t going anywhere.” Silas said grimly.

“Stephan, do I need to spray you?” Dr Burke asked anxiously.

“No, I’m already immune. However I need to see a doctor for these wounds.” He smiled feebly. Silas saw his wound still bleeding.

“Why hasn’t the bleeding stopped?” He asked.

“What?” Stephan turned to him.

“The bleeding should have stopped by now.”

Stephan looked at his wounds. “Interesting. Its possible the antidote affects the clotting of blood somehow. Take a note of that Burke. You’ll need to work on that at the lab in case I bleed to death and don’t make it.”

“Don’t talk bullshit!” Dr Burke shouted. “Let’s get you out of here!”

“Let’s face the reality Burke, I’m already in shock. I’ve lost too much blood and I’m still losing it. Leave me here. Take the antidote and free the world!”

You are calculating accirding to your time, human time. I am talking God time here, He who sees a thousand of our years as one day. I dont expect the rapture to take place tomorrow, I'm not saying you should lock yourself in your room and hide under your bed, I am saying the end time is approaching and the signs spoken of in the Bible is slowly coming to pass. Recognise evil for what it is so that you will not be decieved.

I submit that you do not know of a time when people went to church solely for salvation/purity of spirit. The congregation have always been that way. Its not a recent development.

Even among the apostles of Christ there was a traitor. Yes, not all who call out Lord Lord are true christians, this has been true since the beginning of christianity, however it is much worse now. Before we had true missionaries who were willing to go into the jungle to preach at no profit to themseves, christians who were willing to die for christ if it came to it. can you say the same of today? Can you truthfully say of all the 50 churches on your street even one preaches the undiluted word of God about salvation? Arent 90% if not almost all of them in for the profit? It has never been this bad sir.

You can easily snap the picture of the dead rat with maggotscoming out of its head, enlarge it and frame it and put it in your kid's room as decoration since you see nothing wrong with it.

The story teller can choose to write his story however he likes. What you fail to mention is that good tends to triumph over evil in these cartoons. Its not only a matter of who used to be the good guy or who was the bad guy. We all love a happy ending.

Of course. So it wont matter in the film they are releasing in 2017 where the devil is actually the good guy and god is really the tyrant. The devil just wanted to do something different and god wouldnt let him. Poor devil. But as long as the film has a happy ending, no wahala.

Well, cartoons are created basically to expand the imagination of kids. Aside from that, kids that watch lots of cartoons tend to speak English more fluently than kids who don't because most cartoons are featured in English and even as an adult you can learn some new words. Personally, I've gained a lot of knowledge from watching cartoons such as pinky and the brain, dexter's lab, spiderman etc. I have a friend who once came across the same equation he saw in pinky and the brain in his SAT exams. I really don't get why Nigerians always want to condemn cartoons as evil. Its plain silly to me. No offence

Ok, first of all, I LOVE cartoons. I have watched everything from Tom and Jerry to Disney's Spirit, Stallion of the Cimaron. I have watched thundersub, voltron, superted, ben 10, justice league, naruto series, bleach series,ed, edd, and eddie, phineas and ferb pinkie and the brain etc etc etc. Trust me when I say you are speaking to a cartoon enthusiast here.

All the cartoons you mentioned are nice. They are funny and actionpacked. Those are not the cartoons I am talking about.

Most of the cartoon from Cow and Chicken downwards are disgusting and some are obscene and it gets worse as you get closer to 2014. In The Regular show, a big armed guy fights with death(a fearful drawing, not funny at allllll of death) over his friend who has died. This is not a manga, it is a kid's program. Death is shown with sharp teeth and hollow eyes. I am an adult and I had to change the channel, it was horrible.

Bill and Mandy was initially a bit horrifying but now it is downright terrifying with bill dying and going to hell and resurrecting and dying etc. With terrible demon dolls coming to torture Mandy. Watch it and tell me it is entertainment for your two year old.

Permit me to share two pictures of adventure time, the cartoon I am talking about. I honestly dont think you have watched it. The original writer of adventure time quit because he said he was beginning to lose his mind. The worm you see in the picture down there enters your ear while you sleep and feeds on your soul until your brain is mush, what's funny about that? The princess in black sucks life out of everything around her when she becomes too emotional like being in love or being angry etc. the king with the hat and pointy teeth oh boy, you need to see what he does. You are an adult that loves cartoons it seems. I will advice you to watch it and be honest and tell me if you think the cartoon is for kids even though it is obviously targetted at them.

Just as a sidenote, cartoon for kids early on is bad for them. TV for kids before the age of 2 is bad for thier speech and cognition centres. Google it up. I thought the same as you concerning that aspect but I know better now.

What christians don't understand is that the world is never going to end. Your world ends when you die. The elite only put all those rules to keep the masses in check and as a matter of fact, there were more wars in the past and human beings will always remain human beings. Y'all are getting it confused because you now have access to information and get info on China in seconds. Bad things have always been existing because humans have animalistic traits. There's never going to be a time when there's total peace. The best you can get is your peace of heart.

What atheists don't understand is that their lies are getting old. The world is more rotten and more morally corrupt than it was in the past and no amount of acting 'Spartacus having sex in a table in front of a group of romans' to twist history will cover that.

The soul is that part of a man/woman that lives on after the body dies. The Eternals are into the business of acquiring souls. Your soul will either be taken by the light or be held by the darkness. The good news here is that it is entirely your choice, no one can steal your soul, you give it of your own accord. Wether you spend the rest of eternity in heaven or hell is entirely up to you.

As a christian, your soul belongs to God through Christ Jesus. But some christians have sold their soul for a loaf of bread that will expire with this world.
So I'm asking you. How much did you sell your soul?

I know a guy who sold his soul because he didn't get Halliburton job. He was ok being a christian until he applied for a job interview at Halliburton and wasn't selected. So he got angry with God and decided to become an atheist. He sold his soul for Halliburton job.

I know a lady who sold her soul because she lost her sister. She didn't understand why her sister should die at such a young age and so she got angry with God and sold her soul.

I know a girl who sold her soul for her boyfriend. He is an atheist and she loved him so much she decided to be an atheist too. She sold her soul for love. How touching.

I know a guy who sold his soul because he went to crusade ground asking God to give him admission into the university after 4yrs staying at home. He spent a whole month sleeping in the church without reading his books and then started hustling for 'special centre' only to fail woefully. He got angry with God and decided to sell his soul.

All these people have very good reasons in their mind for selling their soul. What they don't realise is...THIS WORLD IS TEMPORARY. Even death and loss of a loved one is temporary. It is better for some people to die than to remain in this world. The world they are going to is better than this one. But the people they leave behind who are not deep in their faith won't understand this. They see here as the end of all things instead of just a passageway.

Same as those who sell their souls for friendship or love or money or good jobs. All this will pass. But the soul will remain for eternity and will go to whoever you sold it to.
It is more important for you to take care of what will last for eternity than what will end here.

Oh I know the end is not next week or next month but it is coming closer. I believe it has been 2days since Christ died and resurrected. We are in the morning of the third day. Things are drawing to a close.

I'm not a bible quoting christian, have never been good at it, but I'm sure my friends here can supply me with the scripture that says 'in the end times people will be lovers of themselves and not of God, selfish etc etc.'
Someone said the best trick the devil ever pulled was to convince man that he doesn't exist. He has done a pretty good job of that so much so that when things are happening in favour of evil around us we barely even notice it anymore.

Its easy to recognise wars and murders, rapes and outright violence. Its easy to recognise corruption on a large scale and the downfall of great leaders and economies. The thing that is more dangerous however is the subtle ways we are being 'preached to' into accepting evil and thinking there is nothing wrong with it. I have outlined below a set of things that have slowly and surreptitiously been placed into our daily lives that we don't even realise we are being brainwashed into believing such things are normal when they shouldn't be. By the time they are done when the mark of the beast is introduced and the antichrist announces himself, even christians will accept him whole heartedly.

1. The breaking of the church into denominations. Some people think this was good so as to make the gospel spread farther. I say a house divided on itself cannot stand.

2. Materialism in the church. Constant seeking of miracles instead of salvation, praying for a brand new car this year instead of purity of spirit, praying for your enemies to die instead of praying for them to find salvation. Tithing to make your pastors wealthy instead of tithing to help the people of God that are needy. Seeking positions in church for worldly recognition instead of looking for people who have a genuine thirst for the conversion and reaping of souls for the harvest.

3. The sexual revolution. Sex is suddenly nothing to be 'ashamed of'. Sex was never meant to be something to be ashamed of, but it wasn't meant to be public either. Sex is designed to be a private affair. The private parts are hidden by pubic hair and clothing because they are private. Now the more sexually perverse a person is the more he/she is considered to be exhibiting his/her 'freedom' . Pornography is everywhere, in our books, magazines, the internet, movies, even our kids are being corrupted with lewd images in their 'innocent' cartoons. Have you ever wondered why p0rn is so easily available? Its virtually free to browse and download millions of megabytes of porn movies now, not even clips. So much so that many of us cannot even recognise indecent behaviour when we see it in real life.

4. Cartoons corrupting our kids. This might sound laughable to you but keep an open mind for a moment. Look at the cartoons our children are being shown. Cartoons like 'adventure time' for example. Have you ever watched it? Of course not, you say; its for kids. I advice you to take ten minutes of your time to watch one episode and your will realise it is downright demonic. How about 'the adventures of bill and mandy'? Innocent right? Have you seen the recent episodes? In an episode of SpongeBob squarepants worms are seen coming out of his eyes! What's funny about that?

5. Evil is now good while good is evil.
There are new cartoons now that paint heroes in a bad light. Jack and the beanstalk---jack is now the thief while th giant was a friendly giant. Cinderella was actually full of pride and the evil stepmother was simply 'misunderstood'. Here's one that will touch you Disney watchers...remember frozen? That wonderfully inspirational movie that got every girl crying and chanting for female empowerment? The original story os from 'The snow queen'. And Elsa was no 'misunderstood' ice princess. She was a villain, a queen who would freeze little boys hearts and remove all love from them. 'Hans' represents the boy whose heart was frozen but now suddenly in this movie he is the scheming bad prince. Hmn.

There's a movie where angels are depicted as evil overlords and humans are supposed to rise up against them. Hmnn.

Same example can be seen in maleficient, Dracula untold etc etc. They are making it look like evil must have had a good reason for becoming evil. They are making a case subliminally and people don't even know it.

6. Identification numbers. Yeah, if we really need them why do they keep changing them? We have social security number, credit card numbers, bank account numbers; and now suddenly the idea that the numbers are too many is beginning to spring up. Why not one universal number for banks e.g BVN number? Have you done yours? Why not a number that will identify you uniquely as an individual and will help you transact business, receive medical care on emergency, help you get a job...it sounds reasonable right? I mean, its not as of some illiterate shepherds from 2000 years ago wrote a fairytale book predicting this exact same thing happening as a sign of the end times...any of these beginning to sound familiar?

There are more examples, you can add yours.

When the end comes most of us won't know it because we would be too used to it. For those few who notice the changing times and recognise it for what it really means, there is a question for you: Will You Be Ready?

Again isn't it obvious that supernatural occurance world be recorded or reported in some way? Yet you want us to accept ur assumption. There is no recorded of supernatural anything, so stop assuming.

Isn't there a less confusing way for your God to spread his message? Of course what I do with ssomehing that makes no sense is up to me... Its seems u are assuming God to have no idea that this present method is not helping matters. I am sure he knows that not everybody accepts bullllshhhit. Of course he should know... Didn't he create us?

Well to me, anything I have not seen and cannot relate with in anyway does not exist. I can feel air, I can understand air more than ur God.
What divination do humans know? Yet there is confusion here and there?
The hunger issue cannot work because it makes u humanize your God. God should know how to relate with us without all these confusion and segregation this his so called present method is bringing. Seriously, is it that hard for an all knowing God to relate with his creations with out qualms?

Well you can believe anything about your God, I am not like that. I don't make assumption except I am sure. I am not into believing without seeing, thats d difference between me and you. You can believe God is a dragon, but am not into just believing things.
And if the Gospel cannot be accepted by everyone, then what the point? Shouldn't your God have known this? What has he got lose if the gospel reaches everyone?

He sure does not know how to get quality right from the begining. And what's his problem with quantity? Isn't he the one that created quantity? If he wanted only quality why didn't the just create just 100 people on earth who will worship him qualitatively?
Listen quality is when the whole quantity understands and worship him.

What's this? Its seems you love assumptions. Who cares if he throws even himself into hell. If he created the world and decides hell is the best option, that show your God is incompetent. I am just trying to prove to you how meaningless what you believe is. If you can ask me the question above.... U make me wonder if you are capable of getting into discussion with me.
