If you want a fall-of-the-bone tender roast beaf , you have to bake it in a tight covered casserole dish.
What you are looking at is the raw beef seared in cooking fat 'to keep the juices in' angry

...was AWFUL! A little less than boiled meat without the seasoning embarassed P laughed until he ribs ached!
I followed the instructions exactly, even bathing the meat with the worchestersomething! But the taste was horrible. Why oyinbos dey lie like thishuh

In the end I had to cook the meat in a pot with curry and maggi and local spices and the end result was not so pretty but at least it tasted delicious!

I wont look down on our local dishes again. The roasted beef in wine etc just tasted like boiled meat with salt and no maggi. Yuck angry

I left it in the oven as stated...basting the meat in the juices that flowed out of it occasionally. The smell was heavenly. My neighbor had to come and ask if I was preparing for party. I laughed and said nothing. I waited until the stipulated time and finally the meat was done. I put it on my plate and cut the roast beef open and if you sees the steam and smell that came out of it eh! Wow! I called P, my girlfriend and she applauded me for a job well done! I took, the first bite, cutting a bit off with my cutting knife and put the meat in my mouth. The smell was heavenly, the texture of the meat was soft and chewy. The taste...

So I have been salivating over these Americans and their wonderful dishes that I see on food network channel. The way they describe the food when they are eating it can give someone ulcer. They'll be eating it as if meeeen, in fact they are in heaven; and I almost want to jump into the television to have a taste. The straw that broke the camel's back was this latest one, Guy's Big Bites, if you see the way oyinbo dey chop meat and the sauce was just flowing and the meat was looking so soft and tender, falling off the bone...chai! I almost called my mom to abuse her for dumping me here when I can be enjoying roast beef in wine sauce...

And then I had an idea. Why not make the roast beef myself? I could get the recipe online and follow the instructions and soon I'll be tasting that heavenly meaty cholesterol laden roast beef just like Guy! Just the thought of achieving such a masterpiece made my mouth water and my eyes dizzy!

So I set out on my quest. I looked up the recipe for roast beef in thyme, garlic and red wine. I hunted around for the ingredients and got them all even the WORCHESTERSHIRE SAUCE! I seared the meat like they said and garnished with garlic and red wine and WORCHESTERSHIRE sauce(it took me a while to even pronounce that thing and the cost eh...anyway) and then popped the whole thing into my oven .

Family › Re: 'why MOST Nigerian Men Marry' by 5minsmadness: 6:44pm On Jan 21, 2015
MegMich:
You really may not be part of the MOST.
A sincere assessment.
I have always bin of the opinion that if I were a lady, I won't just marry because our culture sees no life for its ladies outside marriage. Though our culture is such that truly allows and provides for long lasting marriage, it in many ways put our ladies under pressure, as such, they succumb to just any man. Given that once out of marriage(through divorce or simple separation) getting married again is a toll order given the mind set of the typical African man, it is therefore paramount that measures should be taken to avoid regrets.
Hence, I tot it wise to gather these facts obtained through interaction why Nigerian men get into marriage:

1- I have made money syndrome. This is seen amongst young promising men who feel they should have an 'Oriaku' to spend on.

2- Am of age. Funny enof people still sponsor other people's marriage because they feel he should have a wife considering his age. Most often however, men are cajoled into marriage becos of their age and some, to avoid this would rather do the presumed needful.

3- I need a cook. After all, women's education ends in kitchen. Beware, the bulk of people in this category are wife beaters.

4- Mark of manliness. Who says marriage is synonymous with manlinesshuh

5- Financial security. If you are a lady who is established or has potentials, beware you may fall for this. Most men marry doctors, nurses, lawyers etc for what they can get financially.

6- Bear children to continue linage(if there is anything like that). What is the guarantee that you or the man is fertile enof to start producing immediately? Beware of mother-in-law sickness.

7- To curtail promiscuity. Brother, if you are promiscuous before marriage, are you sure u're gonna stop once married? Prayer and self discipline is the way out.

8- Old age security! Young wives versus old men.Still wondering why young women marry men thrice their agehuh? Worry no more cos Nigerian men have got the answer.

Finally, marriage is an institution installed by our creator. Reasons as to entering this should be genuine and all encompassing. I there urge you to seek Him diligently for he has the answers.
I rep Naija
So, what is the reason for getting married if not for the points above?

This is why slavery will continue to thrive no matter what modern name we call it to soothe our conscience.

What kind of chore do you have in your house that both of you(husband and wife) cannot handle by yourself? Being lazy has become so fashionable in this generation that despite the increase in gadgets to make life easier for people, they still complain that the workload is too much when in actual fact they just want to have more time to be carefree and enjoy the benefits of sitting at home doing nothing. Even staying up at night to care for their own children has become so much of a chore for them meanwhile when they were single they would work nine-to-five and still have time to go night clubbing till 3am before resuming work the next day.

Lazy and over-enjoyment generation.

Next thing they will say as long as the househelp is above 18 they can hire her to sweep thier house.

Please stop the hypocrisy and legalise slavery. Even slaves were taken care of and paid stipends for their labour.

Very many

Its even vexing them that her story ended well. See them trying to spoil her good news.

@blesie congratulations. Thank God you guys have sorted yourself out. Don't mind the jealous ones trying to spoil your news or make you or your husband feel bad. Marriage is all about communication and experiences that you will laugh about tomorrow. Not everybody on this forum knows that or wants others to be happy. They will want to find a way to cause rift between you and your husband and will not be happy until you are unhappy. Thank God for the nairalander that helped you out. God will bless her in kind.
Sex is a very very important component of marriage don't let anybody tell you different. I will also advice any other issue you have you discuss with your husband, not online where vultures can come and twist your problem because of the bitterness in their hearts. Not everybody online that smiles with you wishes you well. But no matter what they do you will continue to soar above their bitterness and remain in your happiness.

All the best and wishing you blissful married and legal sex life.

He taught me to stand still and take my punishment, to never run from the cane.

He taught me to always wash the white clothes first.

He taught me to never expect a thank you for my good deeds.

He taught me to never be ashamed of hard work or people seeing me do it.

He taught me to buy a bottle of my girl's favourite drink and put in the fridge so I can offer her after any argument.

He taught me to always watch 9 o clock news. He didn't succeed in this.

He taught me how to sneak into someone's room unnoticed. I practiced with his room a lot.

He taught me that medicine was not candy.

He taught me to abhor alcohol. And I did, at least until my post-university days.

He taught me how to be independent especially with my finances.

That's it for now.

I just read this, what do you guys think?

"My husband had called me that his friend who lives in Europe came back and will be spending the weekend with us before he goes to visit his family. My baby was 7 months old then.
I hurriedly prepared something for him. At
10PM that day, he arrived but with a young girl whom he introduced as his girlfriend. The girl just looked at me with this stern look that looks like "how can I be greeting this small girl? I'm older than her". I ignored her and served them food.

The attitude of the girl in my own home was just so annoying but I figured since she's gonna be here for a while, I might as well endure her.

The next morning, I was still in bed when I heard some noise in the kitchen. I went to check and behold a stranger preparing fried egg in my kitchen.

WTF!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. To make matters worse, she was so dressed indecently in my home. I summoned courage to ask what she was doing in my kitchen! She should hav e waited for the hostess (myself) to prepare whatever she will be eating. I got angry. Then she throw these words at me, 'I don't blame u. I blame Cassidy who refused we lodge in a
hotel'. Before I could say 'jack' she and my husband's friend packed their things and left the house.

This Brought a slight misunderstanding between my husband and I as my husband said I should have ignored her for his friend's sake. He also demanded I appologize to the girl and also his friend. I agreed to apologize to the friend but never his girlfriend. I got to understand that the girl is just his bedmate but to the girl, she thought she was the "everything". I made peace with my husband by apologizing to his friend.

If you were in my shoes, would you have kept quiet seeing a stranger in your kitchen? Even after she disrespected you? What would have been ur reaction? Did I do wrong by reacting?"
Woman, your kitchen is your kingdom! And I mean this in a good way.
Apologise to her for what? If she is the one will she tolerate a total stranger entering her kitchen where all the food for the house is? Nonsense!
The girl be feeling fly that she's dating a big böy...eediot.

You did well jó.

Done a good research but let me correct you.
- not all my kid`s wanted to breast feed for 2 years, in fact I had two kid`s that rejected the breast completely after they got the first bottle. And with one baby I just did not have enough milk, and I tried everything.
- Secondly, please lt me know the date of the post when I had 9 kid`s , probably is quite old, because I am not yet in menopause tongue

@ aisha I certainly am a very weak mum because I can`t sleep when my kid`s or husband are out. There are times when my boys come back very late, that I spend the whole night crying and praying that the come back safe. I am too worried to even be angry with them at that moment. I wish sometimes I was a super mum that could just go to bed and have a good night sleep. You need to imagine how it is when on a friday you are just worn out with the weeks work, the kid`s and their homework and you think you can just get a good nights sleep angry
God bless you.

My daughter had i real bad at your age and the skin doctor prescribed her the anti baby pill. But it did not help much till he put her on a mild dose of antibiotics and she had to take that for sometime and the acne went.
Also you can do steam damps to help the pores open.
Also stay away from milk products and sweet things it plays a big role.
Google acne and antibiotics.
This too.
Sometimes your acne might be caused by certain kind of bacteria. They are very susceptible to cloxacillin. So a low dose of ampiclox might help.

But see your dermatologist to confirm this.
