Do you understand that you friend is breaking the Law by working more than 20 hours/week during the Academic Session?

I would never advice someone to deliberately break the law in a foreign nation...

This isn’t Nigeria...

Hi, anyone recently processed their passport renewals or e passport at the Nigerian Embassy in DC. Please let me know what obtains.
Can I go in and do it all the same day.
I have done Nigerian Passport Renewal at the Nigerian Consulate General in Atlanta & Nigerian Embassy in New York...

I have also obtained my United States Passport from the Washington Passport Agency in Washington D.C.

It’s very unlikely that you will obtain your Nigerian Passport the same day...

However, you can definitely pick up your Nigerian Passport the following day...

Regarding my Nigerian Passport, I renewed mine early last year in Atlanta, Georgia...

You won’t be able to pick up your passport the same day...

I ended up picking it up the following day since I informed them that I was visiting from out-of-state...

I paid $60 for expedited processing {Bought a $60 Money Order from Kroger, Cash isn’t accepted by the Consulate General in Atlanta, Georgia}

I also ended up spending a night in a hotel {Comfort Inn Roswell, Georgia} which is only about 30 minutes from the Consulate General by Uber depending on Traffic...

Alexandre please where do you live in Germany
I don’t live in Germany. I live in the United States...

But my response is regarding abroad in General...

Be it Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada or the United States, the bulk of the money you make in these countries will also be spent in these countries...

That’s simply the way the system is designed abroad...

Is it possible to save like 10,000 euros every year while doing my MSc in Germany?

I really wanna save lots of money, so that even before the end of my MSc in Germany, I don get plenty money for account. I plan to overwork myself during summer holidays and save lots of money.
Education ain't my main reason of planning to go to Germany, making money is my number one reason I wanna leave this shitthole. I wanna visit home after my studies smelling money money before going back to keep hustling for more
With this idea, the west might not be the best for you...

The west in general including Germany isn’t a place you acquire questionable amount of money within the shortest possible time...

The system is designed in such a way that majority of the money earned in Germany gets spent in Germany...

€10,000/year is quite a high number, €5,000/year is doable....

I have saved $8,000/ year before by working minimum wage jobs but I had to inconvenience myself to save up such amount i.e. Getting a roommate, Stop Dinning out, Reduce my Clubbing Habits, learn how to shop cheap e.t.c.

It was difficult but I was able to accomplish it since I wasn’t in School So didn’t have to bother about Academics...

Also ended up doing a lot of Overtime Hours since that’s where the real money is...

Basalt:
Is it impossible?
Very unlikely...

Unlike Nigeria, the west is structured differently.

When you factor in Taxes, Rent, Feeding & other Miscellaneous expenses, you will only be left with a Meagre sum every month...

Your focused should be on graduating College & getting a Good Job, then saving €10,000/year wouldn’t be a big hurdle...

You don’t want to flunk out of school simply because you eyes are set on making money...

Anaheim and Torrance aren't expensive. 300usd is too high for domestic travel truly but if you book spirit airways ahead of your trip, you might not spend up to 300usd on your return trip
I had flown spirit from Baltimore MD before, to LA on a one-way trip and all I spent was 110usd, for 5 hours flight. Try cheapoair.com
Ok, I will try Cheapiair.com

I usually use Booking.com OR Expedia...

I see. I love NYC because I be Lagos Guy...i'm used to crowd in my city, lol. I have never boarded megabus, but would give it a try someday. I have been to DC too severally, the neighbouring MD as well...but too expensive as you said. Maybe you should try LA in your next visit. They have ridiculously low hotel rates. It's not crowded as well. Visit Knotts Berry park and Dysneyland in Anaheim with your family. Cheers
I was thinking about moving to Maryland due to it’s proximity to both Washington D.C. & New York City plus it’s high African American Population but I was discouraged by the high cost of living...

A one bedroom apartment goes for about $1,500 which is on the high side...

I have decided to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia next year since it’s relatively more cheaper to live over there...

What part of LA has ridiculously low hotel rates?

Last time I checked for flight tickets to LA it was around $300 - $500 which is a bit expensive for domestic travel...

The only downside was the driving, we should have flown. I'll give a breakdown hopefully before the end of the month.

No problem my G, I will be waiting for the breakdown...

Also you have to know that New born Babies love crying...

You just have to get used to it...

Hopefully when you mum comes around then you guys will get a break so Mama can take care of the baby for a while...

I’m seriously considering having a baby in Canada as well, just have to convince my significant other to buy into the plan...

It would definitely be a good idea to gift the baby both a Canadian Passport as well as a United States Passport...

Yep. With your explanation, it's a fact you're also conversant with that route. grin I do all that well. Cos of sightseeing all the way to and from Pennsylvania, if I'm coming back home via JFK for instance, I'd board a greyhound bus and stop either at New York Washington bridge or New York port authority station, depending on my preferred route. I also love NY.
Have you tried MegaBus?

I boarded it once from New York City to Washington D.C. & I loved it...

The Double Decker Buses are cool...

Nowadays I usually ride MegaBus except when MegaBus doesn’t go to my intended destination then I have no other option than to travel with Greyhound...

I love New York City too but it’s so crowded & crazy,
if I had an option between both, I will choose Washington D.C. it’s more calmer & cool albeit it’s also expensive as well...

New York City is comparable to Lagos while Washington D.C. is comparable to Abuja F.C.T.

Mine was the day I stepped into MMIA for the first time and flew to New York JFK in 2005, also for the first time. That was incidentally my first flight experience on Lufthansa airline. We stopped over in Frankfurt and connected another flight to JFK in New York a few hours later. Then, you must obtain a transit Visa to lay over in any of the European countries. So,I was having 2 visas in my passport, lol. The American Visa and a German transit Visa. We got to JFK after flying for like 16 hours from Frankfurt, Germany none stop. When we got to yankee, i saw everybody walking as if they were doing exercise, lol. I didn't know that was the way they walked.

Everywhere was calm, no noise. By the time I got to sutfin boulevard I began to realise why people were walking so fast...the biting cold entered my bone marrow lol , despite the thick cardigan I was putting on. By the time I got to Jamaica, I had to rush into a coffee bar to drink a coffee. The lady who saw me asked ... are you a Nigerian ? I was wondering how she got to know. I simply replied, yes! She was so polite. It's a memorable experience for me.
I usually take the Air train as well whenever I’m flying from JFK...

You have to transfer at Jamaica to use the New York Subway “E” Line to 34th-Penn Station...

I love New York City...

Nairaland helped me a lot, and a particular moniker did well for me tho I got some laughing at me when I asked. Actually it was thru the help of a White Southern American and his wife that I zoomed off. I met them while working as an attendant in Igoni Hotels.
I spent about 300 thousand Naira (my own money) while the rest came from their family purse.
I landed in Fargo, North Dakota on October 10th 2016 and on Jan 20th 2017 I left for Ellisville, Mississippi (just 1 hr to Hattiesburg)

One thing I've noticed in all my travel is that in Nigeria, poverty is planted, notured, grown and harvested.
Is Mississippi really country?

I have a friend that studied in the state...

She disliked it because it was too laid back...

She eventually relocated to California after graduation...

Got slapped $403 fine and 3 points demerit for driving 0.9 secs through a red light. I never knew driving through a red light incurred so much penalty.
Was rushing to pick up my kids.

Penny wise, Pound foolish. huh? grin grin
Yes, it does.

Usually once the light turns yellow, I slow down & let it turn to red then wait until it turns back to green before I move...

Usually some drivers speed up once the light turns yellow but the end up driving through a red light...

There are usually cameras at every stop light to catch drivers who tend to drive through red lights...

They usually receive a ticket in the mailbox & either have to pay a fine OR show up in court...

My Dad got one of those ticket once for running through a red light...

He paid about $300...

Plus he was forced to take additional driver classes to avoid accumulating points on his Drivers licenses...

Usually your insurance premiums go up as you accumulate points & if you keep accumulating points then your drivers license gets suspended by the Department of Motor Vehicles...

Usually very difficult to reinstate your drivers license once it gets suspended...
