Post a a picture of your temperature gauge when this overheating occurs. Meanwhile use a pressure washer to wash your radiator and condenser once again. You might have to repeat this process up to three times to get rid of all the debris in your radiator and condenser.

The torque spikes is what I have learnt to live with. It makes me think the transmission is about to go bust. I just have to ease up on the throttle. Will probably go for a an auto diesel next time.

Good and well detailed explanation. So does the TDI engine come with electronic injectors especially the one adopted by VW
The new ones from 2004 I guess. The new TDI engines all come with electronic injectors.
Car TalkRe: Diesel Engine Club, You Welcome by 9icetoo(m): 5:28pm On Apr 30, 2015
The old diesel engines will hardly die in flood water because they can withstand hydrolocking better than petrol engines. The new diesels won't tolerate such abuse cos they weren't built as tough as the older units. Tdi technology is more or less a small variation in the manner diesel is injected into the combustion chamber. In the new Tdi engines, diesel is injected in a sort of stratified manner. You get the precharge and then the main charge. The electronic injectors are capable of injecting diesel at higher pressures into the combustion chamber and therefore get better economy over their mechanical counterparts. With a good quality diesel, these injectors can last a really long time without failing.
Car TalkRe: Diesel Engine Club, You Welcome by 9icetoo(m): 8:38pm On Apr 27, 2015
Most diesel engines have separate diesel and oil filters. The change intervals for the filters may differ but if you suspect your source of diesel is dodgy, it's always good to change your diesel filter when you are changing your oil filter. The filters are cheap. On the TDI with unit injectors and tandem pump, diesel contamination will wreak havoc on your car. Common rail diesel units sometimes tolerate contaminated diesel but be aware that the pump might wear out sooner.

Are you guys not worried about the quality of our diesel? Even these VW LT bus driver complain a lot.
People are quick to blame the quality of diesel when the issue is something else. Some do not ever bother to change their diesel filters.

Car TalkRe: Real Life MPG Check (manual Check) by 9icetoo(m): 12:39pm On Apr 27, 2015
kakameks:
On a recent trip these where my results, for my 2004 lexus Rx 330, 4wd V6.

75% CITY AND 25% HIGHWAY - 13.3 mpg (mixture of mild driving and fast driving)

100% HIGHWAY - 18.8 mpg ( i was heavy footed through out the trip)

am a bit disappointed with the kind of MPG am getting compared to the advertised range of 18 city/23Hwy.
You can't drive the car like you stole it and expect reasonable mpg. I joined a convoy last week wit my skoda and after flooring the car all through the journey, my mpg took a nosedive. After driving sensibly over the weekend, it's back up again.

Car TalkRe: Kazeem. by 9icetoo(m): 9:19pm On Apr 26, 2015
Buy it 50k and stick a v6 engine from another car into it. Simples. It will be extremely difficult to salvage that engine after all the trial and error that has been performed on it by kazeem. I am just being practical. If you can get the exact engine for that car from ladipo, then better.

Reporting for duty.
2006 Skoda octavia,
1.9 TDI with BJB series engine,
5 speed manual transmission.
Owned the car for a few months now.
Fixed a lot of the electrical gremlins bewitching it such as inoperable horn, front and rear wipers, central lock and radio.
Yet to be fixed, rear wiper motor (went kaput again), radio display (blurred probably as a result of long exposure to sun) and interior light (has defied all solutions).
Turbo sticks sometimes and causes lack of power (with plenty smoke from the exhaust cry )but when it does kick in, boy the car moves like a bull. Haha.
Will post pictures later.

Hey brother, the wine being referred to is the one gotten from grape fruit (called grape juice), the same type used in the last supper, and not the alcoholic drink u think!
Thanks.
Taa, mechie onu before you commit blasphemy. Don't add or remove from the bible. Wine making process has not changed for over two thousand years. The process involves fermentation which yields alcohol. Wine as is in the bible is alcoholic.

themodernman:
Bro I feel every bit of what you saying, nobody is saying we shouldn't produce...what we're saying is we shouldn't be so fast to close our borders just yet...drastic & aggressive actions usually end up with huge consequences.

I beg to differ where you said we didn't have good electricity during our oeriodnof assembling vehicles...our Refineries were most likely in top shape then which would have provided enough gas to produce Electricity not now that they're all defunct...China that are sudden Manufacturing giants borrowed less money from IMF than we did and they have a world class working Power plant today. We on the other hand have been seeing our Refinery repair as a means for each incoming govt to embezzle money...as I said the repair & functionality of our Refineries alone will solve Nigeria's problems by 15% if not more...but the cabals will never allow it...some ppls wealth come from d continued dilapidation of those refineries. And now they wanna increase the burden by adding manufacturing to it....then population of Nigeria during assembling era that needed electricity can't be compared to today where almost every tom, dick & harry needs it.

What should be done is to allow the importation continue & gradually infuse the Nigerian made cars into the market system then use that time to begin providing alternate means of transportation for people the policy might not favour and then when this is done they can go for the kill by shutting the borders...this is what a government that really cares for its people will do...life has gotten more sophisticated than doing things in a drastic & aggressive manner...things dont work that way man...
Refineries do not produce gas in enough quantities to power a turbine which can be hooked to the national grid. Gas plants, separate associate gas and non associate gas gas, transmits them to gas processing stations like LNG bonny where they are further treated to meet certain specification and then either liquefied or transmitted to gas stations like egbim or alaoji gas turbine where the turbines turn the gas to electricity. Our refineries have no business with our power generation. They are not power generating plants.
Once again, we have started assembly, Nissan has rolled out made in Nigeria vehicle, volkswagen will follow suit soon, peugeot is still rolling them out, Toyota will join soon. They will thrive when we protect them from unfair competition coming from second hand (stolen, clocked, undesirable,) dumps we have in Nigeria. Mind you, the policy does not stop you from importing, it levels the playing field by making foreign second hand cars less attractive financially. You will also notice you pay less duty when you import a brand new car but you pay next to nothing when you import parts for vehicle assembly. That is the summary of the new auto policy. I wonder why you are so up in arms against it. I for one am loving it.

Hello Experts.
It's surely confirmed that I need a new engine. Please How much could a new engine cost? I use a V4 2005 SE Camry.

What could be the cause of the problem, so I can be more preventive henceforth.

Thanks
Your engine is the 2azfe. There are slight differences in engines produced between 2002 and 2006. The differences mainly have to do with the sensors attached to them and not anything mechanical. So when buying, make sure you buy an engine with sensors that will communicate properly with your ecu. The price is between 250k and 350k depending on where you are buying from and the condition of the tokunbo engine. Make sure you use a better mechanic to do the installation this time around. I can scan the car for you as well for free.

How someone can call me up, take my time and then ask me if he can pay 600k is beyond me. Abeg the car is not accidented and hasn't had an engine or gear transplant. Make person no price me 600k again oo. The car has no warning lights (check engine and the likes) on the dash. It's mechanically and electrically sound.
