You know a vehicle is reliable when a bad guy says so. I was watching breaking bad a few weeks ago and in one of the scenes, the bad guy asks the secretary of a guy he just rescued if she has a car, she said 'yes'. He asks her if it's reliable to which she replies, 'it's a camry'. He nods his head and admits that's the definition of reliability. Fact is the research didn't lie. Hate jap cars all you want, but they fulfil the main purpose for which they were made most times without leaving you stranded. To the guy that mentioned Honda legs and ball joint issues, the fault is mainly from Nigerian users who ignore the signs or buy substandard parts when they want to replace such a critical item. |
themodernman:So it was corruption too that killed Dunlop, michelin, volkswagen, bata and many other big companies we knew while growing up. Corruption killed off agriculture that thankfully is booming again after bans were placed on importation of agricultural products we can grow here? How many Nigerians check the vin of the toks they buy? Do you know how much you paid into the coffers of the cotonou government by buying a second rate car in cotonou? Do you think we can move forward if we wait for everything to be in place before we take a decisive step? Obasanjo banned rice and poultry importation and look at the growth in the agricultural sector today. If we want to create jobs and move into the industrial age, we need to produce by ourselves. Innoson is just one of many vehicle assembly plants that have sprung up. They will survive as long as enabling policies such as ban on used imports are in place. South Africa is doing it, we can do it. I hope you do not think the average Joe can afford a new car in South Africa. |
Nigerian made cars do not have so called second hand value because those 'accidented' imports won't allow that. Remember when peugeot cars ruled the road? Their second hand values were very high until our brothers started going to belgium. We need a strong manufacturing sector to create jobs. Importing a 20 year old vee boot or tiny light camry isn't going to create any job whatsoever but instead will drain our much needed foreign exchange. India makes cars. Most manufacturing companies have assembly plants or actually make the cars in India there. Can you imagine that we are importing cars from Indonesia! If Buhari reverses that decision, then he isn't the Messiah we hoped for. Go to Nnewi and see what the innoson vehicle manufacturing plant there has done for the people. Please note that over half of the Tokunbo you celebrate here are rejects over there with masked safety and mechanical issues. |

leuelliot:That's wonderful. Your car is in top shape and the manufacturers didn't lie about their mpg claims unlike most other cars out there. |

Do you notice oil stains where you park the car overnight? Check your exhaust and see if you can touch oily soot. Or have someone else drive the car like you would normally, while you follow behind in another car. Look for light blue smoke. Some cars smoke lightly under heavy acceleration and the owners don't even know cos it can't be seen from the rear view mirror. Try these and you will figure out where it's losing oil from. |

Kudos on getting the excuses in early retired general. Now that you have won, 1. We want all the roads in Nigeria to be rid of potholes withing two years. 2. We want you to bring back our girls within three months. 3. We want you to crush Book Haram within two months. 4. We want you to capture and prosecute all kworrupt public officials within two years. 5. We want to have running water from a water utility company in our houses within two years. We are tired of boreholes. 6. We want jobs for 99.9 percent of Nigerians within three years. 7. We want the naira to be equal to the dollar within two years. 8. We want our dependency on oil to reduce to 20% within one year. 9. In fact we want heaven on Nigeria. So stop granting all these interviews and get to work already. Nigerians will be baying for blood if these things don't happen within these timelines. |

GAZZUZZ: . No mind the guy. Next he will tell me that BMW cars don't sommersault at those speeds. I have clocked over 185 kilometers in my camry severally. Even my wife's Honda city (that little car with a 1.5 litre engine) did a little over 160 km/hr hit a bump at that speed, bent a rim, lost a caliper bolt, but did not fly off the road. |

nurey:The steering feel is lighter in modern cars. The weighty feel of the steering does not mean a car is safer nor does it mean the car is more 'balanced'. Hate jap cars all you want but remember that princess Diana died in a Mercedes benz. |

victorD3:Victor, I have three cars and do not need three cars. All I posted above were done by me because I pampered the ride and not because the items were faulty. I do not drive my cars into the ground like some people do. In case you do not know, what I provided above is "service history" that no one else will give you. Please appreciate that. I no be Omo by the way. I get pikin for house in case you need me to remind you what Omo is. Car is still available. |
