HeavenlyBang: Which truth. He just doesn't know what he's saying.
Every single car made by Mercedes-Benz -- God Bless Karl Benz's glorious soul -- is the fastest car ever made. The C300 is much quicker than your shitbox Nissan GTR.
Kelvin30286063: Could be true cuz the car sat at an unsafe place for a few days. I'll have it checked. Thank you
There is no relationship between your catalyst and your abs and tpms. Take your car to a good mechanic. You changed brain box, start there. Get your old brain box, copy the part number and compare that with the new one installed. If they aren't the same, then start from there. Look for damaged abs wires or connections. Your tpms sensors may have died or you are low or have too much pressure in your tires. Sort that out. Above all, scan your car with a proper scanner (not the generic scanners) and post the codes. If you are in lagos, look for Gazzuzz, autologic or radautoworks. They will sort you out. Acuras are sturdy. Two years plus and no lights on my dashboard.
1) in igbo land ...your village and your mom's village owns u , not your family ...your family is just caretakers ...so u must marry her from the village then family
2) most of the list given to you would be used for your traditional marriage , rice , drinks , and the rest
3) the list is made big very big like in my village so that u can't pay all , it's believed once u pay all the woman is yours for ever and u can do what ever u like
The idea is to give u a big list u can't pay ...so that u can owe your in-laws ...and with that treat your wife well
All you have to say is my in-laws this is what I have for now ...we know they don't complete the marriage of a woman ...we would keep paying the debt as long as I'm alive ...simple
4) it's insulting to pay the bride price that I are told , u should bargain it and beg them to accept what u have
Infact as a man your people would from vex and leave u would go and beg them and beg them to come back , and so forth it's just ceremony to show u are paying from your noise to get the beautiful flower
5) no body talks about what the girls people give to her , in my place mbaise , we buy her all her kitchen equipments , from the smallest to the biggest after her white weeding or her first delivery
Two for each delivery we go for omugu , they carry everything she and her husband people would eat for 3 months
Finally igbo weeding is nothing compared to kalabari, opobo bonny and okrika
Finally, someone who knows the tradition. I'm pleased.
I think the radiator is perfect, I haven't done any maintenance on the transmission, but I guess the previous user serviced the gear recently and repaired the sensor too.
I tried scanning... Got the error note "something like cylinder misfiring" not very very sure.
First thing, drain the oil and use the recommended transmission oil. It should be atf dw1. Don't use any other transmission oil Scan the car afterwards.
HeavenlyBang: One of my biggest fears was port security. Plenty of stories about Port rats, offloading damage, etc.
It's a bit hard to tell if the car was damaged while offloading. But only one thing was missing when it got to me that I'm sure was in the car when it left the US. The start/stop button. It's a simple $9 item that has been bought.
Headlight control module was also missing. But I don't know where that happened.
So, on to the most important things.
It's a fine car. Far more refined than the Infiniti, perhaps at the expense of engagement. Even with the V8, it's not a sports car. It's a grand tourer. Soaks up bumps and has plenty of power on tap. While the G35 makes its power brutishly and at the top end, the E550 is silky smooth and simply pulls you to ludicrous speeds. Very smooth.
For example, if I have a gallon o fuel when accelerating in the G35, it usually falls over. It doesn't in the Merc. It's the torque that's simply amazing. 394 lb-ft at 2800 rpm. More than an E90 BMW M3, a Lexus LFA, or an Audi R8 V8. About the same as a Ferarri 458 Italia.
In comparison, the G35 doesn't make its peak torque of 268 until about 5300 rpm. That makes for a big difference in driving experience, it also means I can sit at 100km/h with the engine lazying about at 1500 rpm.
That said, the VQ35HR is a much more exciting engine. This 5.5L was designed for smoothness in the S Class, not for racing. It shows. The exhaust note is also very muted, and even when you step on it, it just growls softly.
Make person dash me Magnaflow mufflers, I'm pleading. Cc: Radautoworks
The car is fully loaded, essentially. It's only missing the Distronic Package.
The 12-speaker Harman Kardon system bangs. It's almost overkill for a coupe.
I have heated seats, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, paddle shifters, pretty much everything.
Handling isn't as good as the G35. You can feel the weight of the car. But it's definitely capable. Besides, my boy racer days are over.
Steering is too light. It's what I hate most about the car.
Engine is rated at 382 HP, but I'll eventually get a tune to push it to 415 HP. Other planned mods include exhaust work, an Android headunit, and UR strut bars for tighter handling.
Car has just 88k miles on it with complete service history.
Shout out to
- Deltel for handling everything - OPUSDEI1 because na my oga at the top - Gazzuzz for his hospitality - Nakoks for his help - Diportivo for being a world class pilot - Eddee and 9icetoo for their advice - CarguideNG for an impeccable carfax - PattyBF for registration and tint permit
Obviously, this was only done with the help of the Cartalk family.
Congrats chairman. Will surely call you when I get to awka for the xmas. Nice ride. The 99 guy go leave you alone now.
Ajakaiye83: You just mention my route. Brakes are good though I hear a drag noise when ease of break pedal
Then I don't think there is anything wrong with your vehicle. Check your brakes and make sure they aren't binding. Run a few cans of injector cleaner in your tank (buy from total along diya street). Fill your tank. Take your car on a highway run. Cover 50 miles. Fill up again and check how many liters it took you to cover 50 miles. This is how you can confirm your mpg.
Reeoman: sir i dont really knw what it does bt my bro had a bad one in his crv and fuel consumption was mad ehnn, bt once it was changed the fuel consumption became very minimal
Ajakaiye83: Just got a registered highlander 2001.
The fuel consumption within the city is huge particularly with AC on.
39miles with 4k fuel. The engine was just replaced.
I need help pls Cc: Nurey Gazzuz I stay around Gbagada
Whats your average speed? That will determine if the consumption is okay or not. If you regularly drive along diya street in gbagada and through bariga, your mileage will suck. What is your average speed? How many liters did the 4k fuel get you? Lastly, are your brakes binding?
sultaan: It is not about bashing but I am taking an objective look at what we as a country pay so much money for and the cost in human lives we have lost.
The Hiace is the most deadly car on Nigerian roads either by design or use. Those Marco Polo are deadly too, but Hiace is easily capable of 100% fatality rate at 50mph. Innoson assembles some models, but their safety level should be a little less than the average Chinese car.
If I am spending so much to buy a car, I will consider the safest for me and my family. Thank God for Sienna, it is very good that our transporters are now using a safer model to move out people.
Can you prove his assembled cars are a little less safe than the Chinese assembled cars? Do you have figures?
The sienna is undoubtedly good as a people mover but it is not efficient cost wise. In the absence of regulations, transporters will use what they deem cost efficient.
The flat faced shuttle bus is not only made by toyota. Nissan has theirs. So do the Chinese.
My point is, do not blame the car maker, but the system that allows the car to be used for a role it shouldn't be used for.
sultaan: How? Now we know it is not a Toyota but a Ford Focus. The car was going about 50mph or 80km/h. The driver walked out of this wreck.
When you compare it to your average everyday accident on Nigerian roads by the most fatal model(hiace), and the Chinese brand our brothers believe is patriotic. If you can go home to your family after an accident like that with all body parts intact, I'll say it is a pretty good car
First, the topic. Second, some of the half baked comments. The toyota Hiace performs poorly on front crash test ratings and is rightly banned in the usa. In japan, china, korea etc it is widely in use. Nigeria isn't better than any of those countries.
The toyota Hiace is a people mover in Nigeria because we don't have a functional mass transit system (rail, coaches, ferries etc). In the absence of a functional mass transit system, the government has turned a blind eye to a flawed "people mover". The driver of a marcopolo bus will suffer the same fate as the driver of a Hiace bus. Both lack crumple zones. I haven't seen anyone slate the "marcopolo" bus.
Innoson is a car "manufacturer" and also into plastics and so many other products.
Some of his vehicles include fox and granite. Are these unsafe too? Have you seen the crash test ratings to prove they are unsafe? Or should we just jump on the bashing bandwagon?
Piyke: Lol. Don't think it's too much. This car has been driven mostly highway including going to work. It is stop and go that kills vehicles, especially if maintenance practice is poor on top of that.
I know na. I've been preaching it on this forum na that high mileage doesn't mean much if it's highway miles mostly and if a vehickle is well taken care of.
Three things to consider. 1. The front end of new vehicles are designed as crumple zones. They will deform to absorb impact and protect pedestrian 2. The saloon sits lower than the G wagon meaning the impact will affect mostly the bonnet, grill, lights etc (all designed to deform). The impact wasn't transfered to the chassis which supports the radiator and sits directly behind the bumper. 3. Look at the rear of the G wagon and take note of the hidden tow hitch. That tow hitch has been bent meaning it bore much of the brunt of the impact. Those tow hitches are really nasty if you ever encounter them.
Just to educate those who may not know and would want to jump into the silly toyota vs mercedes argument.
Piyke: Now over 255k miles and doing more preventive maintenance.
I recently noticed my radiator fans come on at a higher temperature than they used. They used to come on before 100oC but this changed to 100 or above. So I went ahead to replace the radiator fan switch (coolant temperature switch/sensor). I did a video while at it:
It could be any of the accessories that the belt turns such as the compressor, alternator, water pump, idler pulley roller etc. All these will have to be examined. Any with unusual noise may have to be replaced. I had an issue like this on a skoda but it was the alternator that was the culprit. Merely spinning it didn't indicate any problem. The mechanic however had seen something similar recently and his guess worked.
As for the original belt, you will get it in trinity close to ladipo or go to radautoworks at lekki. She is on Nairaland as well. Gazzuzz seems to be going the German way so might take a look at the car. I do not think your problem is a fake belt. Even the fake belts last a long time. Something is creating so much resistance to the rolling motion of the belt causing it to collapse or cut.
First things first. 1. Which year is your mdx? Is 2040 model or 2002? 2. Secondly, have you done any maintenance work on the radiator, transmission or shafts of this mdx? 3. Have you scanned the car since you started noticing this issue?
