You tried. 4.250 and we have a deal. Also free scans for you for one year if you are in lagos. You are getting a car with none of the safety features compromised. Original mileage and peace of mind.

My issues with this:
1. It takes 9 hours 35 minutes to achieve a range of 485 kms. This does not factor in idling in lagos traffic
2. Have we made laws to accommodate electric vehicles? I ask because 1 yeye VIO or FRSC or even police officer will stop this electric vehicle to ask for the following non applicable items;
a. Engine number
b. Spare fan belt
c. Transmission oil and brake fluid
d. Coolant.
e. Where is your engine? (Trust me, it's possible)

3. Do we generate sufficient electricity to accommodate electric vehicles? Or are the owners going to be charging their vehicles on fossil fueled powered generators?

It's a step forward but we must also step up the game to meet up the requirements and demands of an electric vehicle.

Lastly, it's an assembly by Stallion group and not manufacture. Neither the electric motor nor the batteries or control systems were manufactured in Nigeria. The components were merely assembled here.

Emadeb oil has finally killed the engine.
Either you ring it or you put toks in there. The engine flush kukuma washed out all the caked up sludge from years of 20w50 use.

Do the less invasive check first.
Check the oil pressure switch and it's wiring before going into oil pump.

Plz I have been a keen follower of this thread. I currently own an Es300 but I intend to buy the IS 250.. I dont know how durable it is... or common problems etc. Will it be a good buy?.

I'm a bachelor so its size especially at the rear doesnt matter for now.... I also dont mind the 2.5ltr engine...

But I hear its prone to electrical problems and the steering is EPS which cost around 400k... plz someone should do justice to my concerns

I doubt it has electrical problems. The only issue i know of in the is250 is the carbon buildup on the intake valves which causes misfires and engine problems.
I guess you like small sporty cars. But since you already cruise an es300, you are used to the length.
I have a fresh toks es350. Try that. It's a better upgrade on your es300 than the is250.

My Camry 2004 has been serviced with Total Quartz 5000 20w50 and the odometer is over 200k miles. The engine has never been opened and the exhaust drops water.

What matters is frequency of servicing. I don't joke with my car servicing. Atimes I do it in month interval if I traveled with the car much.

200k Nigerian miles as in you bought it brand new?
Or 200k but with only 30k or 40k Nigerian miles?
They are two different things.
We don't cover that many miles per year in Nigeria. Very few people do. Where the road dey?

if he changes his 20w50 at 2k km then think it's fair....aslong as the oil and filter are genuine

my elder brother ran his 08 accord for 7 years with 20w50 and nothing happened.....engine was never opened till he sold it

Dipo, I no be oil merchant oo. My reason is that those kia and hyundai engines are quite fragile.
They will not take the abuse a Honda or Toyota engine will tolerate. I've been to their dealership and stated it here. The number of them waiting for engine transplant is harrowing.
The build qualities are not the same.
Of course he should sort out his bearing problems first.
Remember, repeating an action and expecting a different outcome is folly.
That engine is not cheap, oil is cheap.

After the rebuild and test run i would have to make the right decision on what oil to run the engine with as i have seen lots of kia hyundai engines from 1.4 1.6 to the 2.2 litre engines run 20w-50 oil either mobile or total.

Stay away from 20w50. U no go hear now. I have 170k on the cerrato. E still dey drop water. It has never seen 20w50.

Everyone is changing their radiator to double cell and if you take a single cell radiator to the market, no one will take it from you even if it's brand new. Ask yourself why.

I have not changed my radiator to double cell. My car is yet to overheat.
Two things I can deduce from what the op posted.
1. The radiator blocked which led to the radiator hose bursting
2. The owner has been using tap water or borehole water high in dissolved mineral content. That is why the thermostat looked dirty.
Those minerals (calcium, iron etc) precipitate out of the water and deposit themselves in the radiator passages during the repeated cycles of heating and cooling. This blocks the radiator over time.

The owner should
1. pressure test the system for any other leaks. Fix those leaks first.
2. Flush the entire cooling system.
3. Replace all coolant hoses except the 1/2 inch return to the coolant reservoir. (Since one failed, it is highly likely the other have been exposed to serious stress).
4. Install a new radiator (I don't care if it's single cell, double cell or 50 cell).
5. Install a new thermostat
6. Restore the fan system back to spec.
7. Use coolant or demineralized water to fill the cooling system.

All these on the premise that the gasket and sealing surfaces have not been damaged again in the recent overheat.

It takes a very prolonged period of overheat to warp a Corolla engine.

Yeah. That's true. He should do a complete rebuild then. Bearings, rings and oil control rings etc. Should get the engine back in shape.

Option 1, go to a modern mechanic, pay premium, get premium, some modern mechanic shops even take care or gurrantees their repairs for free for months or year... Check out Radautoworks

Option 2, go to a kazeem, you might be lucky, he is experienced, your problem get fixed for half the price of modern mechanic , sometime you fix one you get two problem free,

Option 3, my favorites, DIY, get to know your car, YouTube is a great resource point and other foura like nairaland.com, genvibe.com etc, out there, occasionally team up with an experience kazeem if needed to tackle a problem,
