Oga, your crankshaft main bearings are most likely the culprit. Oil pump provides flow, main bearings clearances as per design spec provides pressure.

Bearings are not to be changed using trial and error.

That engine needs to be torn down again, crankshaft and main block journals inspected for wear, measured to ensure it confirms to spec, and bearing should be purchased using the CORRECT part number as per measurement obtained.

It is quite unfortunate that most Hyundai / kia built after 2009 is piece of shi.t.

Stay away from 20w50 after this. My 1.6l cerrato engine has 170k kms. Use the recommended oil going forward.

OP, sincerely answer the following questions.
1. What grade and make of oil have you been using to service this car?
2. Do you buy this oil yourself and supervise the servicing?
3. After how many kilometers or miles do you service the car?
4. Has your fan been running direct and for how long?
5. When was the thermostat removed?
6. Did you see the sludge removed by the mechanic? Was it plenty? Did it fill a quarter of the oil pan?
7. Did the mechanic measure the crankshaft before buying the bearings for the crankshaft?

Yep cheif, it is an 07 TRD Sport so it does have a locking rear differential. Light just went on its own, hasn’t come back since then. I suspect it has a lot to do with the body work done on it. So let's say OP works Monday to Friday. 10 days right. It takes OP 10 days to cover 81 miles. That's 8 miles per day. 4m miles to and 4 miles from. OP covers 4 miles in 15 minutes. That's an average speed of 16 mile an hour. You see where I am going with this?
Average speed is the key here. OP hardly ever gets into 3rd gear let alone 4th gear where the engine is at its most fuel efficient. OP is often in second and first gear.

Nothing is wrong with your car OP. Your route and short distance is the issue which results in very low average speeds and hence the seemingly poor mpg.

True this. Ignore the other comment. There is no fixed price for cars. People sell as they buy. Of course a well maintained car won't be sold for the same price as a jalopy.

I have gone back to 20w 50, not smoking... Sluggish at start of acceleration and leaks oil drastically, despite the heavier oil

The sludge plugging the seals has been cleaned off. Consider changing the affected seals to stop the oil leaks.

Oil is getting past your cleaned rings and seals. Either you go back to 20w50 or you ready a budget for engine overhaul or a toks engine.

Whatever you decide (overhaul or toks), use manufacturer recommended engine oil from then onwards.

The latest design is from 2016. It costs at least 17m to acquire one. That's a big leap from your 3.5 million original budget.

Unless you are talking about 2015 rx350 which you can get for about 9 million.

Pls what effect does it have if d fan is connected direct?

1. You will change fans moe often.
2. It will drain your battery leading to shorter battery life span leading to frequent battery changes
3. It will strain your alternator too requiring frequent alternator replacements
4. Your engine will run cooler assuming your thermostat has been removed.
5. This will lead to increased fuel consumption
6. Increase in engine wear as excess fuel dumped in by the ecu leads to additional wear on your cylinder walls due to reduced lubrication
7. Increase in sludge formation as a result of 4,5 and 6 above
8. Blue smoke from your exhaust when 4,5,6 and 7 eventually take hold.
8. You will then change or have to overhaul the engine.

It's a slow and painful death for your engine caused by running your fan direct and removing the thermostat.

If the thermostat is still there, you will probably only have to live with 1,2 and 3. Probably in quote.
