Inception:Just like Gazzuzz and inception here has said, do this. Stay away from 20w50 after this. My 1.6l cerrato engine has 170k kms. Use the recommended oil going forward. |
Available. |
OP, sincerely answer the following questions. 1. What grade and make of oil have you been using to service this car? 2. Do you buy this oil yourself and supervise the servicing? 3. After how many kilometers or miles do you service the car? 4. Has your fan been running direct and for how long? 5. When was the thermostat removed? 6. Did you see the sludge removed by the mechanic? Was it plenty? Did it fill a quarter of the oil pan? 7. Did the mechanic measure the crankshaft before buying the bearings for the crankshaft? |
Today is a good day for inspection. Buy and drive. No faults |
HeavenlyBang:Thanks chairman. ![]() |
Buy and drive. All safety features intact. |

Your car is okay. Just take her to the highway once in a while to blow out some carbon and thoroughly warm up that oil. Change your oil more frequently as this qualifies as severe driving conditions. |
Ride home in style this xmas |
Eddee:Nice. That's a thorough job man. Your painter dey try. |
So let's say OP works Monday to Friday. 10 days right. It takes OP 10 days to cover 81 miles. That's 8 miles per day. 4m miles to and 4 miles from. OP covers 4 miles in 15 minutes. That's an average speed of 16 mile an hour. You see where I am going with this? Average speed is the key here. OP hardly ever gets into 3rd gear let alone 4th gear where the engine is at its most fuel efficient. OP is often in second and first gear. Nothing is wrong with your car OP. Your route and short distance is the issue which results in very low average speeds and hence the seemingly poor mpg. Your car is fine. Honda ko Honda ni. Carry your Honda enter ejigbo by 6.00pm make I see where him go smell 20mpg. |
Eddee:Does your tacoma have a lockable differential (4L or 4H) as is obtainable in a hilux? If so disengage it and see if it continues flashing. |
DelTel:People have not been to the market recently. Their eyeballs will pop at the going prices of cars now. That said, OP, you may want to add 03-06 Lexus es330 to your options. Nice car. Also do not rule out the 06 toyota avensis. It's equipped. The 05 rav4 is a good buy with your budget. The rx300 also falls nicely within your budget. I'd buy that over the 05 highlander. |
murphyonline:Contact gazzuzzlogistics 08038119063 on Nairaland. He will help you locate the module in ladipo, buy and ship to you. I don't know how much it is sold. I have never bought one. But it shouldn't be expensive. Gazzuzz, okwa oso ahia kam gbaara gi ihea. Ogbu opi na efichakwa imi. ![]() Murphyonline, keep us posted. |
Keep the calls coming. Fastest finger wins. |
Keep the calls coming. |
Sweet deal |
Spend this xmas in style. Your safety is assured. All airbags intact. |
Autossolutions:True this. Ignore the other comment. There is no fixed price for cars. People sell as they buy. Of course a well maintained car won't be sold for the same price as a jalopy. Happy sales. The car is clean from what I can see. I own one and its a freakishly reliable vehicle. |
Keep the calls coming. |
Jamie1000:The sludge plugging the seals has been cleaned off. Consider changing the affected seals to stop the oil leaks. |
Available |
afesco:You are welcome. Although part sellers in ladipo won't be happy. ![]() |
joungblood:2015 is quite good. If I bring one in before the end of the year, I will give you a mention to come for inspection. ![]() |
kingreign:No be so my oga. Just adding a dose of reality. ![]() |
Eddee: Just helping out my fellow man in case Dem don yarn am otherwise for beer parlour. You know all those " Emeka buy 2018 rx350 for cotonou for 7 million" gist. After beer don enter belle well. ![]() |

Well, it did what the manufacturer advertised. It has high detergent concentrations and cleaned out the sludge formed by the 20w50 in your engine. Oil is getting past your cleaned rings and seals. Either you go back to 20w50 or you ready a budget for engine overhaul or a toks engine. If you can live with the blue smoke, manage the engine for a little while while you consider your options. Whatever you decide (overhaul or toks), use manufacturer recommended engine oil from then onwards. |
joungblood:The latest design is from 2016. It costs at least 17m to acquire one. That's a big leap from your 3.5 million original budget. Unless you are talking about 2015 rx350 which you can get for about 9 million. Anyways let's know how it goes. All the best man. |
afesco:1. You will change fans moe often. 2. It will drain your battery leading to shorter battery life span leading to frequent battery changes 3. It will strain your alternator too requiring frequent alternator replacements 4. Your engine will run cooler assuming your thermostat has been removed. 5. This will lead to increased fuel consumption 6. Increase in engine wear as excess fuel dumped in by the ecu leads to additional wear on your cylinder walls due to reduced lubrication 7. Increase in sludge formation as a result of 4,5 and 6 above 8. Blue smoke from your exhaust when 4,5,6 and 7 eventually take hold. 8. You will then change or have to overhaul the engine. It's a slow and painful death for your engine caused by running your fan direct and removing the thermostat. If the thermostat is still there, you will probably only have to live with 1,2 and 3. Probably in quote. |
