Tzar:
I disagree with you. I am divorced and my ex wife has changed her name back to her maiden name as requested by me.
It only makes logical sense. The kids have nothing to do with the name chage that should come with severing the legal bond you have with your ex spouse.
If the man doesn’t mind, there is no issues, but if he does... why not? If you ain’t still obsessed with the man, you should gladly do a name change back to your maiden name. That makes the divorce a clean cut.
It’s HER PERSONAL CHOICE...

You couldn’t have compelled her to...
Once taken, it legally becomes HER NAME.

PS: If you have kids, why wouldn’t you want to share the same surname?
It’s egoistic (or simply misogynistic) to think it’s all about you. But likely you had a relatively short marriage.

That is why the OGs like Donald Trump always insist on PRENUPTIAL.
Depends on state law...

States like California (and other “community property” states), a pre-nup would usually only protect wealth PRIOR to the marriage. Even in other states, some courts may throw out a pre-nup if the court depending on different factual circumstances.

See as all the nairaland wannabe feminists Don flood this thread..... If you ain't married to the Man anymore, then you have no excuse still using his name....many of the women you see still using their ex husband's name is probably because the husband's name has a lot of influence in many social and business circles and they wanna use it to their advantage.
If you divorce a man then nothing that concerns the man should be of your concern anymore except the children.
You should not use his name neither should you worry about his money....
Can she then change the kids surname to hers? shocked

Once she officially takes on her spouse’s name, it becomes HER name...
When parents officially disown grown kids, the kids are still entitled to the family name.

Ideally? No, the woman simply does a name change just like she diid when she was married and wanted to change her maiden name.
But, technically you can if you want to get under the skin of the man. Since he doesn’t have copyright to the name, you can officially file for a name change to his surname...
Has NOTHING to do with “getting under the skin” of some dude you are leaving - that’s just MISOGYNISTIC thinking...
The name and marriage is part and parcel of your life, and if you have kids with the dude you will all be sharing the SAME surname.

Well I think it's her decision to make but it doesn't just feel right to me, I mean keeping ex-husband's name. It's somehow.

What if she decides to remarry? Will she keep ex hubby's name or take a new one?

If taking a new one is easy then why she no kuku reset to default settings after the first marriage no work.

Abeg e tire me.

I no wan get headache this morning.
That’s because how most Nigerians culturally regard marriage....
So many Nigerians think a wife is some sort of “stranger” to the family.

That’s why there are a lot of inheritance and general in-law issues...
When marriage is actually an amalgamation, and in most places abroad all wealth during marriage is “community” property (50/50).

SANWO-OLU COMMISSIONS 66-CLASSROOM BLOCKS IN FOUR LAGOS SCHOOLS

... As Governor connects 100 schools to broadband Internet to aid learning

… State to unveil 300 more education projects next week

Four magnificent newly completed school buildings were unveiled on Thursday by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu across three Local Government Areas (LGA) in Lagos State.

The multi-level ultra-modern buildings are part of the infrastructure projects completed by the Ministry of Education under the Lagos Metropolitan Development and Governance Project (LMDGP), which is covering 970 basic and secondary schools across the State.

Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the school projects amid praises by teachers, students and their parents. As he stopped in each of the beneficiary schools to formally open the buildings, the Governor was warmly received by cultural troupes made up of pupils, singing in appreciation of the gesture.

Four-storey buildings of 18 fully furnished classrooms each were commissioned by Sanwo-Olu in Fazil Omar Senior High School, Iwaya, Yaba; Onike Girls Junior High School, Onike-Iwaya, and Igbobi Junior High School, Somolu. The fourth school project is in Akintan Junior Grammar School on Clegg Street, Surulere, where the Governor opened a single-story building of 12 fully furnished classrooms.

Sanwo-Olu said his administration’s intervention in education was predicated on revamping the learning environment and introduction on technology to raise quality and deliver excellent results.

He said education remained one of his Government’s building blocks to achieve its vision of Greater Lagos, adding that the projects would further strengthen the effort to achieve the goals in “Education and Technology” pillar of his T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.

He said: “The move to actualise our Greater Lagos vision is hinged on delivering quality education as building blocks. We flagged off the upgrade of infrastructure in schools to deliver 300 classrooms, including seven new hostel blocks across our boarding schools.

“Some of the projects are being commissioned today and they include a block of 18 classrooms with administrative offices, library, laboratory, toilets, and water supply systems each at Igbobi Junior College, Fazil Omar Senior High School Iwaya and Onike Girls High School, Iwaya.

“We aggressively embarked on these projects to accelerate our children’s access to world-class learning environments, thereby providing requisite facilities and security in the schools that cut across Education Districts and Local Government Councils. All of these efforts are taken to expand access to quality education for our children irrespective of their location.”

In complementing the facility upgrade, Sanwo-Olu said the State Government had started to roll out fibre optics across the State-owned schools to aid learning through high-speed Internet connectivity.

Before end of the month, the Governor said broadband Internet infrastructure would be completed and commissioned in 100 schools selected for pilot scheme.

From next week, Sanwo-Olu disclosed that members of the State’s Executive Council would be commissioning iconic schools projects across the State, as part of the activities marking his second year anniversary in office.

The Governor acknowledged the national feats in academic recorded in the 2021 National Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientist (JETS) Competition held last February in Abuja, in which pupils of Lagos State origin won 11 medals and 10 trophies in various categories of the academic contest.

Also at the recently concluded Maltina School Games, Lagos emerged the Overall Best State, clinching 21 gold medals. Sanwo-Olu described the feats as part of the results of his administration’s investment in education.

He promised to continue to improve the standard of education and quality of teaching personnel to make Lagos schools a positive reference point.

He said: “The infrastructure being put in place in our schools would amount to nothing if they were not complemented by competent, dedicated and passionate teachers. I assure all parents that the standard of education will continue to rise and we will not stop until Lagos schools become a positive reference point across the globe.”

Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, said the Governor’s focus was not on infrastructure upgrade alone. She said the State’s intervention had also touched all elements of the value chain in education, including teachers’ recruitment and training, teachers’ rewards, curriculum review, investment in technology for learning, and provision of teachers tablets, among others.

She said the inaugurated projects were parts of the 1,097 projects being undertaken by the Sanwo-Olu administration, covering comprehensive upgrade of 970 public primary and secondary schools.

In the LMDGP, the Commissioner said the State Government had supplied 86,000 dual furniture sets to 775 schools, constructed 70 new school buildings, renovated 197 schools and built eight new hostel blocks in the State-owned boarding schools.

Adefisayo said: “The State Government’s ultimate purpose is to ensure that all students in our schools receive sound and quality education in a good environment. It is wonderful to see that these promises are being kept. In less than 2 years, the State Government has met every one of these promises to a significant extent.”

Chairman of Special Committee on Rehabilitation of Public Schools (SCRPS), Mr. Hakeem Smith, highlighted the details of the projects, pointing out that the intervention addressed spatial functionality, design efficiency, building durability, adequate ventilation and natural lighting.

He added that the Committee, since its inauguration in November 2019, had embarked on the construction of several classroom blocks, school hostel accommodation cutting across 100 primary and secondary schools in the State.

On the top most floors of the inaugurated schools are laboratories, assembly grounds and office spaces for teaching personnel. smiley

How much do many Nigerian-owned companies pay, if they pay regularly at all?
And how long do staff work at Nigerian companies (even ignoring domestic staff that are simply SLAVES in many Nigerian households)?

Lanrelagboi:
Hope on delivery of the much-expected Lekki Deep Sea Port looks brighter as the construction of the $1.6 billion project reaches about 50 per cent completion.

The company said it has completed its 1,909m long core of the main breakwater while work on the quay wall and landside infrastructure has reached an advanced stage. The significant milestone of the completion of the core of the main breakwater was achieved on Thursday, April 29, 2021.

The Managing Director, Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited, Du Ruogang, disclosed this while briefing the Permanent Secretary, the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, and other key stakeholders.

Ruogang assured that the construction would be completed as scheduled with a targeted commercial operation expected in the last quarter of 2022. He affirmed that the container terminal operator – Lekki Freeport Terminal, a subsidiary of CGM/CMA, is ready to commence operations once the construction is completed.

“We would like to appreciate the Federal Ministry of Transportation, Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) as well as other stakeholders for the immense support towards the actualisation of the world-class seaport”, he said.

Ajani stated that it was heart-warming to note that the project was moving at a fast pace, assuring all the promoters and stakeholders that the Federal Government would play its part to ensure the smooth take-off of the port as scheduled.

Ajani noted that the progress of work since the initial visit of the ministry in November 2020, is impressive and that the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Transportation would work out modalities of rail connectivity to the port for easy evacuation and transfer of cargo to the different parts of the country.

She also promised to liaise with her counterpart at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on the issue of the road network at the corridor to prevent the issue of congestion.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, said that NPA will play its part to ensure that the timeline set for the delivery is achieved, adding that efforts are being made to facilitate the deployment of all necessary infrastructure needed before commercial operations begin.

“To meet the timeline for the Port, we would deploy the control tower as well as the BTS and GDMS which are critical infrastructure needed for the take-off of the port operations. In addition, we have to begin the construction of the administrative block”, Usman said.

The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, NSC, Hassan Bello reaffirmed the significance of Lekki Port to the economic prosperity of Nigeria noting that when completed, the port would be transformational for the country, and indeed the West African maritime landscape.

Director-General, NIMASA, Bashir Jamoh reiterated the importance of railway connectivity to the project.

It has nothing to do with that tweet undecided

She was simply suspended because of the massive fraud going on under her watch. Of recent the NPA has been under remitting to the federation account.

The woman clearly knew her end was near that's why she decided to switch back to her fake activism so that it will look as if the government suspended her for speaking truth to power.

If her suspension was because of her views about the state of insecurity in the country then people like El-Rufai, Samuel ortom, rotimi akeredolu, nyesom wike, Godwin obaseki would have been impeached. Because at different times they have criticized the APC government and even singled out the president.

She was simply suspended because the president felt like ( even this one way they steal sef still get mind castigate us)

If she was very passionate about the welfare of the country, she should have just resigned her appointment long time ago because this insecurity issue didn't just start today. It's started almost immediately after this government took over power and it became worse 3years ago so why didn't she just resign then undecided
So why wasn’t the DG of NIMASA also suspended?
