kernniejay:Development is ultimately about PEOPLE… If the PEOPLE who elected you to SERVE them starve to death in the short-term… That some elite stakeholders/foreigners supposedly “know better about economics” is IRRELEVANT. Economics has NEVER been one-size-fits-all… Rather, intelligent economic policies are BESPOKE to fit the PECULIAR circumstances of the population. > |
helinues:“Partying” (as you term it) is a vital component of the national ECONOMY… Those tailors, caterers, organizers, DJs, logistics, security, etc., are all SMALL BUSINESS ENTERPRISES… They employ people, and use their earnings to pay for housing, healthcare, education, etc., further deepening the ECONOMY! And at the end of the day, a GOOD TIME is usually had by all and sundry! ![]() > |
adverttrading:Forget this sham about “democracy”… When we cannot even conduct credible elections. Nigeria has become a POLICE STATE… Accordingly, the SECRET POLICE has assumed control. > |
buttlover:So it was Emefiele who closed the border? And even removed subsidies? We should go and console the Dul-lard in Daura for being snookered by Emefiele! > |
kernniejay:It’s a shame he was actually elected to SERVE NIGERIANS (including the “children of hate”)… Not “business tycoons, world leaders, directors of industries, financial experts, global figures and stakeholders around the world”! > |
senatordave1:No, it most certainly does NOT… The new Electoral Act is entirely NEW law. It is not governed by jurisprudence in respect of the old REPEALED law… Instead, an entirely new body of jurisprudence will be developed around it. You seem to forget that NASS members are politicians… Their SPECIFIC intent in the new law is to overcome the “mischiefs” of the old law. > |
seunmsg: Kdon2:They “loud pass” for federal character because (unlike in court proceedings)… The NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION specifically MANDATES federal character in federal appointments. They “loud pass” for federal character because Pres Tinubu has made 33 federal appointments thus far… And of those 33 appointments, 14 are from his own ethnic group (while the next largest group has 2 appointees). > |
senatordave1:The Oyetola decision said NOTHING about physical presence at the PU or collation center… And btw, unlike the current PET petitions, it was a case of alleged “over voting”, so NOT relevant here. > |
senatordave1:The Supreme Court has NEVER ruled on the new Electoral Law… The new law was SPECIFICALLY enacted to address “mischiefs” of the old law. > |
senatordave1:It most certainly does NOT state so… Sections 130-140 (Part VII) governs petitions, and there’s NO such requirement of physical presence. Meanwhile, it does not even make sense… Why would anyone have to physically be at a polling unit or collation center to log into iRev to verify results?! > |
tunde1200:Hopefully, you’re standing in front of a MIRROR… ![]() Again, not all the listed witnesses are from the same ethnic group (or “tribe”).. After all, Peter Obi also subpoenaed Mahmoud Yakubu to testify at the hearings. Nonetheless, a witness’s ethnicity (or “tribe”) is legally IRRELEVANT… The ONLY thing relevant about a witness is that whether testify TRUTHFULLY. > |
tunde1200:They’re NOT all Ibos… But even if they are, why not?! Witnesses are NOT ethnic advocates… They merely testify to FACTS within their knowledge/expertise. > |
seunmsg:What does it matter where witnesses come from so long as they testify TRUTHFULLY?! After all, Peter Obi also subpoenaed the INEC Mahmoud Yakubu, a so-called “core” NORTHERNER, to appear as a witness. It’s obvious a lot of the comments emanate from stark IGNORANCE of the legal process… But witnesses are called (including subpoenaed/ordered) to testify as to pertinent FACTS within their knowledge or expertise. If anyone in NY or London could log into iRev and uploads are blurred or numbers are canceled/re-written… Why do they have to be an INDIGENE of Rivers State, Lagos State, etc., to testify as to what is FACTUALLY VISIBLE?! > |
SangoOlukosoOba: ![]() Nairalanders will not kill person… Landing in France in now a great accomplishment! > |
lexy2014: lexy2014:Not just because it is a CONSTITUTIONAL MANDATE… And there are capable and deserving Nigerians in EVERY region. But, more crucially, because DIVERSITY is important asset… DIVERSE ancestry, backgrounds, worldviews, etc., is invaluable. > |
spiralwedge:Exactly bro! Tinubu shows he understands there are 250 ethnic groups by giving 14 out of 33 appointments to one group…oh wait! ![]() > |
LivingSage: seunmsg: MightyHand: kingthreat:President Tinubu has made some COMMENDABLE policy strides thus far… But the primordial ethnic bias in his appointments thus far is CONDEMNABLE! He clearly has adopted his predecessor’s “5% vs 95%” philosophy… Albeit he (unlike Buhari) is just clever enough not to actually verbalize it. Reality of “federal character” is that Ibos are the 3d largest ethnic group… And yet the President has made 33 prominent appointments thus far, and only 2 are Ibo. By contrast, of the 33 (22 yesterday, 7 Special Advisers, acting CBN Gov, SFG, COS, DCOS)… 14 has been from the President’s own ethnic group, which is at best only slightly larger than the Ibos. Personally, I have routinely argued for merit over “federal character”… But no one can RATIONALLY contend that there is a lack of meritorious Ibos. Just as worrying is the continued lack of “national character” in Nigerian public life… Accordingly, of the 33 appointees, only a mere 4 are WOMEN (51% of the Nigerian population). SMH > __________________________ PS: Meanwhile, I now await my temporary NL ban (or timeout)… Which seems to follow any comments I make critical of President Tinubu. ![]() > |
Peacemaker5128: Peacemaker5128: plaindealer:Dude Essien, you’re free to state your opinion… Just as others are equally free to state their own opinion of your opinion! Funny how some don’t understand basic PUBLIC discourse… The PUBLIC you address has the unfettered RIGHT to respond/comment. > |
Nemere2020:“Reduce his alcoholic intake….” Ether!! ![]() > |
Racoon:DUMMY! When the 3 arms were headed by Buhari, Lawan and Tanko, where were you?! > |
nairalandkachy1:Dude, while your worldview seems LIMITED to “winning” (and losing)… People who really “put Nigeria first” do so by fighting for JUSTICE (eg, Tinubu when he fought for MKO’s mandate)! While we await the courts to decide what JUSTICE is in this case… However it ultimately turns out, Nigeria will be better off for it (instead of just leaving the question of legitimacy unresolved). > |
> The Godfather….Naija version ![]() >

Machinegun91:Their brothers are probably MORE ugly… ![]() > |
LadyExcellency:Kpom! He deserved the original “Baba Go Slow” appellation…. Personally, I called him “Baba Do Nada” as, apart from the Amnesty program, he did FVCK-ALL! > |
> So we will still have a “hajj commission” (or its Christian equivalent)?! In these days of liberalization one would think government would hands-off non-essential bodies such as Hajj and pilgrimage commissions. Anyway, hopefully this “hajj commission” (and its Christian counterpart) will no longer continue to access forex dollars at a subsidized rate.. If you want to go to pilgrimage (even for some who cannot or do not send their kids to school), my tax naira shouldn’t be subsidizing you. > |
mukthar2000:Given as they have to primarily choose from Nigerian men… The notion of a “responsible husband” is mostly a pipe dream! ![]() > |
shineeye1:Exactly! It was the “black military” that perpetrated torture from Vietnam to Abu Ghraib in Iraq…oh wait! Nothing more pitiful that SELF-HATING LOW SELF-ESTEEMED AND RACIST drivel being spewed on a public forum! > |
Bigmouth3:Nothing justifies brutality… But he’s definitely RIGHT though! Seemingly nothing gives CRUDE Nigerian street men a hard-on as a woman in uniform… If I had a Naira each some Agbero or Street Trader made an inappropriate remark towards a uniformed female, I’d be a billionaire! > |
Bvlgari:If this is not Nollywood-type made-up BS… Knowing Nigerian men and their sexist ways and culture… It’s likely he made an inappropriate sexist remark (not that it justifies brutality). PS: Btw, is it just me…. Or does he look SE and the soldiers SW?! LMAO! ![]() > |
TERMlNATOR: ![]() Good one… > |
Olowoshako:Only morbidly INSECURE persons check their partner’s phone… ![]() > |
