DrHoganObi: If you repair phones and somebody came to you and said he forgot the password to this particular phone and can't open it, what will you do? If you forgot the password, go to the provider for FREE... We Nigerians must learn to do the CORRECT/HONEST things. The reason there is so much phone theft... Is that there are UNSCRUPULOUS repairers such as these. > |

MrHighSea: Then why ARREST him. They should've WORKED with him.
This discourages other reporters. He shouldn’t have been arrested... It appears that he was apprehended by the neighbors and taken to the police. Nonetheless, even if he was arrested by the police at the start of investigations... He must have since been released upon investigation and confirmation of the facts. Either way, he deserves a National Honor. > |

omenka: Now let me add this.
I know some folks who cried blue murder when it was announced the FG would henceforth stop the issuance of forex for the importation of stuffs like rice. They rained insults as is typical of those who have sworn over their dead bodies to see any propriety whatsoever in the actions taken by the government.
Now, I want to ask, in the absence of such fiscal policies, how do we expect businesses such as this to thrive? How do we expect the local market to come of age? How do we wean ourselves off of imported products that can easily be produced locally?
Kudos to Coscharis for this. I hope and pray we see more of such developments in the days, months and years ahead.
God bless Nigeria. Sorry, but that is a truly DUMB policy... The biggest problem that our producers have is infrastructural (including logistics). That’s why most of our products are way more expensive, because the cost of agricultural production and distribution in Nigeria is prohibitively high (which is why goods produced and shipped from halfway across the world still ends up being SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER than locally-produced Nigerian goods). The foreign exchange restriction does NOTHING to address that. The result therefore is that at best all that would happen is the Nigerian consumer being taxed with simply paying HIGHER prices (in an already high-inflation environment, with increasingly weakening purchasing power). Furthermore, it also does absolutely NOTHING to address one of the biggest scourges of domestic producers - smuggling! For example, smuggling (related to the aforementioned absurdly high cost of production brought about by infrastructural deficits including a lack of suitable storage facilities and economically-viable logistics) is the singular reason that Nigeria is BOTH Africa’s biggest producer of raw tomatoes and simultaneously Africa’s leading importer of tomato paste. Finally, if agricultural imports that Nigeria will not possibly be self-sufficient in the near future are affected (eg, wheat), then it would have even knock-on effect on prices (the common man’s Agege bread, in this case). Without addressing basic fundamental issues, all Buhari has done is to preserve more foreign exchange to subsidize his pals and their families for their medical tourism, overseas trips’ estacode and allowances, kids’ overseas school fees, Hajj, and other such wasteful expenditures. > |

1 usd in Ghana is almost 500 naira .
Why did you think they are disturbing does Nigerian traders here if not for the fact that things are not well with them?
everyday you open your Tv and radio it is all about scandals and corruption debate between the ruling NPP and opposition NDC. So look for another country to use as example not Ghana. Even in the US, UK and Canada people complain and complain... Your question was about BETTERING the lives of its people, not perfection. Every county has laws against criminals irrespective of their nationalities , race, colour, gender,religion.... South Africa shying away from doing the right thing you cannt called it "Irrelevant" that is my bone of contention Not sure what you think was double-speak, so I will reaffirm and reiterate... What SA does with its laws are IRRELEVANT to what Nigeria should do with its own laws for crimes against Nigerians. PERIOD!!> |
Crime › Re: Shoprite Looters Paraded, Stolen Goods Recovered (Photos) by 9jaRealist: 6:10am On Sep 12, 2019 |
stormborn28: so, it is irrelevant because the crime wasnt committed against their fellow citizens ...? So it make sense to you from the SA perspective that since the crime was committed against other nationalities, it is irrelevant ... Seriously, why are you having so much difficult with basic English? First, this is a Nigerian site and a discussion from the Nigerian perspective, so why would I be concerned with “the SA perspective” for crimes in Nigeria committed by Nigerians against Nigerians? Nonetheless, of course it makes sense for EVERY country to enforce its laws but it is IRRELEVANT to the enforcement of the laws of Nigeria for crimes in Nigeria committed by Nigerians against Nigerians that some other country failed to enforce its own laws. COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT! That would be akin to US law enforcement refusing to arrest American criminals for crimes in America committed by Americans against other Americans because Nigeria’s EFCC had not arrested/prosecuted Nigerians in Nigeria for Yahoo crimes against US nationals. Do super eagles better anyones life yet people celebrate them
BBN That people are spending there money on doesn't better life yet people are enjoying it. it is there rights to celebrate while it last . stay there and be waiting for a certain President to come and better everyone's life ok. Smh Just down the road in Ghana, their politicians are bettering their lives... Meanwhile, Nigerians are apparently not just settling for MEDIOCRITY but celebrating it! SMH Meanwhile, it doesn't matter if they are "complaining" to us (perhaps they are too ignorant to realize that they should complain - beginning with their (s)elected rulers). Fact is, we do not want to pick up their bills under the so-called Social Investment Program. We do not want 123 (or more) of them rushing down in cattle trailers to our neighbourhoods with no visible means of livelihood except for some substandard Okada motorcycles (without even helmets). Worse, we do not want them becoming the next Boko Haram recruits. So we not only have a mutual-interest but also a self-interest in the material BETTERMENT of their lives, even if they are too ignorant to do push for it themselves. > |

Regarding looting and killings (which is condemnable), it makes no sense going to another man's country to commit heinous crimes. There should be a name and shame of such individuals (drug lords, yahoo yahoo boys etc.). Without their atrocities, there will be nothing negative to blame Nigerians for. Dude, it makes no sense to commit heinous crimes ANYWHERE, including in Nigeria... Nonetheless, any notion (IMPLICIT or explicit) that it justifies barbarism against the group is wrong. > |
