Abeg na make una answer me...I sincerely need ur advice, thanks. I plan to apply for a masters degree in subsea engineering in university of Houston or Texas A&m university... please wich is better, with respect to admission, fees, financial aid, GAs, RAs, TAs, career prospects and any other important infos.....hope to hear speedily from you guys... thanks
Both are good choice bro but in academic ranking A&M has it more but as regards GA TA & RA, they are very very competitive because houston is known for its diverse culture thereby attracting all this book worm Asians and Indians to compete with. You must be very grounded to merit and of this funding in houston.

Nevertheless, don't be discouraged, hard work, determination and dedication can get you all you want. Best of Luck

Why not look for somewhere to stay in Houston for the first few days, and you look for room mates in school who lives closer to the school.

Morning All, opinions needed. Targeting fall 2016 resumption but as it is, it is scary to start acquiring dollars at NGN300/Naira...That would ofcos cut to half my supposed budgeted fund. Whats the best way forward on this please. Thanks all.
Western Union has a lower rate around 245-250. If u can send it to someone in the US to hold for u or when u get to the US someone sends it to from naija.

Goo day guys please I need help. I went with my gtbank MasterCard to an atm in a store and tried withdrawing but it kept telling me unauthorized access. Could it be because I never used the card in an atm in Nigeria cos once I collected it from d bank, I activated it and came over here.

Thanks guys.
For folks just coming in, my kobo advise for you on money and card ish is this. Bring as many cash as you can, take the pain and use the bureau de change in the airport, nigerian bank cards can Bleep u up when you least expect it here. Bring your cash, open an account as soon as you come in and you will get an atm immediately. You can only support your spendings with your naija card, don't rely on it. It still diappointed a friend I went out to shop with yesterday even though the cards were from GTB and Zenith banks.

Just saying from my experience.

i need the house advice please, i am actually an nd2 part time student of yabatech (computer science ). i applied as a freshmen to a school in California and got admitted. i finished high school 2010.
what if the vo ask me what i have beeen doing since 2010, do i tell them about yabatech , i neva mentioned it to the school cause i used my high school transcript , also am yet to finish my nd ... am actually planning on leaving yabatech for the school .
please your advice will be highly appreciated ............ wink smiley
First of all, what course are you admitted to? If it's computer science, then you have little problem. Just mention to the VO what you been doing before been admitted to yabatech and also mention that you are currently studying the same course in yabatech. You can print along your transcript from ND 1.

Also mention to the VO that you will be transferring your grades from yabatech when you get to the school. But if you are admitted to a different course you might have a lot of explanation to do on why you decide to change your course of study.

Greatest Gbagba!

Wow.... I came late. But it's rather late than never.
I welcome everyone to this perfection part of this thread.

Became a follower of this thread from part 6 last year and I followed every damn post. I read this thread as if it was my life. I read so hard, worked on every advise posted here and prayed so hard. And by the grace of God that part never pass me by without giving me my visa testimony.

I started reading from the first 100 pages and my testimony came on the 3rd 100 pages. Thanks to every contributor on the thread.

For everyone expecting their visa, by the grace of God this part will not go by without having your testimony in it. Just believe, pray and work towards your dream to Obama land.

It is well with our souls. #thumbs up#

0000A:
V.O: where in the US are you going to?

Me: I told her.

V.O: why the school.

Me: one of the not so many schools offering international relations as a major at Post Grad level as opposed to many other schools offering it either as a minor or at undergrad levels only.

Also, the course curriculim suit my academic expectation and career aspirations bla bla bla

V.O: How many schools did you apply to?

Me: 3 - OAU, Webster abd Univ of Oklahoma

V.O: Why did you apply to these Schools or why did you not go to these schools (I honestly did not hear these question very well).

Me: i muddled everything up here by giving 2 answers to the 2 questions I thought I heard.

V. O: What do you do?

Me: told her

V.O: who's paying

Me: Parents

V.O: what was your first degree in

Me: Told her

V.O: did you do your first degree outside the country?

Me: No, I did it here in Nigeria.

V.O: why international relations?

Me: told her how my career goals of lecturing and being a diplomat align with international relations.

V.O: ok, I am sorry but you do not qualify for visa at the moment, you can reapply again.

Me: smiled, took the blue paper and my documents, turned around and left.
From what you posted, it shows you are paranoid and afraid of the unknown. Also it seems you are not well prepared.

Anyway it is just a temporary delay, all you got to do now is re fire and prepare adequately. Get rid of your fear and improve your use of English and arrangement of words. Simplify yourself so that even a lame man will understand your point.

VOs are not God, so they are not to be scared of. I believe you can do you. Just take the courage.

Hi nairalanders plz i need ur advice. I have booked an appointment for 19th of this month at Abuja. Can i refilled the form over again cos i want to change my sponsor. Also if it will not affect my interview.

Trying to fill the form again might make you loose your visa fee. Cos the embassy already issued out a memo last year that you cannot change your DS160 again once submitted.

I wonder why people always rush to submit their DS160 cos in my case I never completed mine until 12 hours to my interview so as to bare any last minute change in anything.
