i will go straight to the point and not bore you guys with unnecessary details. i had to open a new account so not to draw unnecessary attention from those that know me with my username either from the office or otherwise

i work in a federal establishment earning about 100k per month. my establishment is about to send some people to the US for a convention though they wont be footing the bills. All they will do is make you get your papers easily by presenting you as their own. fortunately, i am among the few selected interested ones.

now my dilemma is that i think it is not wise to use my years savings in footing a trip which i wont benefit from economically considering my financial status. using all my savings in going to the State just to stay for about a month and come back to the country broke. i am actually interested in going and disappearing and try to make a life there. but my parents have advised me that it is not wise to leave my job to an uncertain future. To make matters worse i don't know anyone there who can accommodate me and put me through. No contact whatsoever to take shelter with.

i am torn between taking the risk and staying back entirely and hustling it out in Nigeria as a civil servant but i don't see myself making it big in civil service except i get the opportunity to dasukigate some funds from our government. lol

please i need the best advice i can get and i trust my nairaland family.

Your parent gave you the best advise brother but at the same time it's your life and u make choices for yourself. You should not wait on anybody here to design your life for you.

On the visa issue, I can advise you go with the process and get the visa. It's not necessary you travel at this time. Having the visa on your passport is an advantage for you whenever you are financially ready to travel. Who knows you might hit dasukigate real soon

Western Union does not transact on credit cards.... he can only use debit card or cash.

Av a lil challenge with SEVIS payment, some1 is paying via western union from the UK and he's says the "sevisfee" is not a registered company name. Any1 that has used western pls help confirm.

Brotherly, have you used the DS 160 to book appointment?
If not abeg just forget that one and start a new application cos u are suppose to fill all the details in there ie both the name of the contact person and the school name which is the organization name.

Take it to the US embassy to do that.

please does regular mail take up to 2-3weeks just from Columbus Ohio to Washington

Regular mail within the US take about 7 business days. So I don't know about the 2 -3 weeks they talking about over there.

Please guys help me out,I was mailed on April8 that my I-20 as been mailed from Columbus Ohio where the school is to Washington DC. I told them to mail it to my uncle living in Washington,and he has not received it.

Just mail the school to resend it and make sure you give them the right address..

It's normally takes 3 to 5 business days for such mail if the address is correct. Make sure you check the address well before mailing the school again.

The best and easiest way is to have someone in the US pay for you.

And at the same time u can go to your bank and ask then to activate your atm card for international transactions. ( but u must have a visa or mastercard)

All the info about the school is on its website and on department's page. Spend sometime on there and u will be amazed how much info u can get.
Register on WES website for ur evaluation and contact ur school for transcript

I will advise u start mailing professors in the school even b4 u start your application cos UofH is a very competitive sch cos of its location
