I will say both sexes will never agree on which is the best route to take when it comes to issues of Romance and Finance. Both are very emotional issues.

@OP, I feel you when you say he should be able to sense when you are in need/difficulty and try to offer to help (even if you reject). That is all well and good. Some peeps disagrees with that assertion. Let me ask you, "do you also sense it when he needs some sexual healing, without him asking" (I'm only assuming that your relationship has gotten to the stage where both of you have sex, and in Naija most of the time it is the guy that demands for s.ex) . Please am not trying to insult you.

Why I asked the above is that I have been in situation where like your boyfriend, one of my girls will expect me to render assistance by dancing around the issue with words. While if I need s.ex from her I will flatter and cajole before she will finally give in (sometimes). But she will automatically expect me to be a magician when it comes to rendering her assistance.
I used s.ex as an example, because I can't imagine any other thing I will be asking a girl friend to do for me. (I don't beg them money, they hardly cook for me, neither do they wash for me).

@op, I'm equally in a two year old relationship and have never had a quarrel with my partner. Mine is a long distance relationship and I believe that since am a level headed person, I will be able to handle any misunderstanding when it finally comes.
I'm someone who does not pretend and I also try to reason every argument through the other person's point of view. Maybe that is the same thing you fiance is doing.

OP, many people earn far less than 30k and they are still getting married. All you need do is to make sure that you have a matured woman as a wife, who will manage your finances for the good of the household.

bro, what I said actually goes both way. There is no fail-proof way of detecting a cheating spouse. But some ladies like to claim they can detect when a man is cheating.

@Ronke, plz I need to correct an impression. Some women (like you) believe that they can always find out "if they want to" when their men is cheating. That notion is very wrong. There are some men who go out of their way to patiently plan for an act of treachery, in this case cheating.
I'm not trying to boast, but if for any reason, I want to cheat on my partner nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing will give me away. In fact am a kind of BLAND and ordinary looking fella. My kind, willl tell a 100 truthful story without any lie. But when we lie, YOU will be the one to take an oath on our behalf that we saying the truth.

It was close, very close but organised labour finally decided early Wednesday morning to call off its three-day warning strike which was planned to commence Wednesday.

The impasse over the implementation of the new minimum national wage of N18,000 was finally resolved after a series of meetings between the labour unions and governors as well as Federal Government officials.

A communique released early Wednesday morning said the strike had been called off with immediate effect.

THISDAY however learnt that because of the lateness of the truce, the labour officials would find it difficult to pass the message across to members, meaning the strike may be observed Wednesday, at least partially.  

The communique also said payment of the new minimum wage would start from August 1, 2011, declaring that all negotiations should end by July 31.

All arrears since the law was signed last March are also expected to be paid.

The communique concluded that "no worker shall be victimised" as a result of this industrial action.

The communique was signed on behalf of the Federal Government by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu; and Head of Service of the Federation, Professor Afolabi.

President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Omar Abdulwahid and President of Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Peter Esele signed on behalf of labour.

It was read by Abdulwahid.

Before the strike was called off, it had been announced that employees of the Lagos State civil service had opted out.

The state government said its workforce was not participating in the action because none receives below the N18,000 in question as monthly wage.

The state Head of Service, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, who said this at the presentation of retirement bond certificates worth N2.198 billion to 322 retirees, added that the government had already complied with the Minimum Wage Act.

A circular with Ref No CIR/HOS/11/VOL.I/068 was issued to ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) including the office of the deputy governor, speaker of the House of Assembly,

commissioners, permanent secretaries, local government chairmen and hospital administrators, among others.

The circular read: “As a proactive government, it is heartening that the new salary structure being operated since January 2011 in the Lagos State Public Service has adequately accommodated the provisions of the Act since the least paid employee now earns N18,780.48k (GP) per month as already reflected in circular Ref No. EST/S.190/S.6/VOL.III/192 of 21st February, 2011. In the same vein, parastatal organisations in the State Public Service are being assisted to comply with the Minimum Wage Act.

“The action of government is driven at ensuring stability in the socio-economic activities of the state which any industrial action might severely hamper.  Furthermore, the state is seriously concerned about the negative impact of strike to the dispensation of essential safety and security services such as healthcare, water supply, fire services and emergency management, etc, to her citizenry.”

The meeting between the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), NLC and TUC had ended in a more confusing state.

The NLC and TUC officials refused to speak to newsmen at the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge, saying they were heading to another meeting with Anyim.

Chairman of the NGF, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, had told newsmen that they had concluded their aspect of the meeting with the NLC and TUC.

He said: “We have finished with the NLC and TUC. We are ready to make sacrifice where necessary because of the overbearing interest of the country, which is bigger than any individual. We have reached an agreement not to talk to anybody on this again.”

Also, the President of TUC, Esele, simply said: “We are going to the SGF’s office for the concluding part of the meeting.”

The NGF consequently raised a five-man committee to accompany the NLC and TUC to the meeting with the SGF on an observer status.

The members of the committee include Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, his Enugu State counterpart, Sullivan Chime, and three others, whose names THISDAY could not ascertain at press time.

It was gathered that at the meeting, the governors convinced the labour leaders that they were willing to pay the minimum wage but insisted that it would be based on availability of funds.

According to one of the governors, who explained the terms of the meeting to THISDAY, “we are willing to pay, but we are also pushing that there be an amendment to the Federal Revenue Allocation formula to reflect the reality on ground".

He said: “This is what we meant by the relativity to pay.”

He said the chairman of the NGF signed an agreement with the labour leaders that the states would pay the minimum wage once there was the “relativity agreement” and the Federal Government kept to its agreement that the revenue sharing formula would be reviewed.

The governors of Rivers, Bauchi, Enugu, Edo, Kwara, Akwa Ibom, Plateau, Zamfara, Nasarawa and deputy governors of Katsina, Jigawa, and Ondo, among others, were present at the meeting.

Abdulwahid; the two Deputy Presidents of NLC, Isa Aremu; and Promise Adewusi, were at the meeting. The TUC President, Esele, and TUC’s General Secretary, John Kolawole, were also at the meeting. They arrived the venue at exactly 12.56 pm. The meeting came to an end at about 6.50 pm.

@Bashy, I understand what you re trying to say. But the truth of this matter is that not ALL men will cheat on their spouse. MAJORITY, I will say is the number( rich or poor; ugly or handsome; short or tall). BOT NOT ALL.

I'm one of those who b.liv in one man, one woman thing. I stayed FAITHFUL in my first ever relationship, for FOUR YEARS. Not that I wasnt tempted to cheat, Not that i am morally upright. BUT I DID NOT CHEAT.

I tried it in my second r.ship, until the feeling of insecurity sets in (like Sleek said). I loved the babe so much, but I also have it at the back of my mind that if she disappoints me; then i wiil turn to emotional wreck. So I started cheating, but she neva caught me. GUESS WHAT? She ended up disappointing me.

Am not yet married(though am comfortable financially), I do not know if I will meet someone, like my first who will win my TRUST and make me not to cheat or I will meet someone who will be just for procreation.

IF I HAD MARRIED MY FIRST, I WOULD NEVER HAVE CHEATED ON HER.

There is no justification for cheating, either by the man or woman.
since this thread is about men cheating,i will like to say not every married man will cheat. Ladies i the house have you ever considered why there was less men cheat in the days of our fathers than in our own days.

The simple truth is that most of the men in the days of our fathers met their wives as VIRGIN. Not only that, most of these women in those days, both (non)virgin stood by their men when they have nothing. Only the promise of a Marriage or positive intentions towards that, was enough to make your woman to stand by you.

For instance, my mum waited for my dad 7years. He traveled out for studies and later came back to marry her with nothing but his PORTMANTEAU. When I asked her what she would have done if my dad had disappointed her, she simply said "IT WOULD VE BEEN BETTER FOR HIM TO DISAPPOINT ME, THAN I BEGIN THE ONE TO DISAPPOINT HIM".

Fast forward to 21st century, how many ladies will keep Faith with their Men? How many will stand by a Responsible but struggling young man with a bright future? How many will actually feel comfortable showing off a man who has nothing but his BRAINS and CONFIDENCE, to their friends and family.

My point is that, most men will CHEAT on their wives ;
1)knowing fully well that she married me because of the Sense of Security she feels I can offer.
2)Because he wonders how many men have slept with her. (Oh she thinks that I am good enough for leftovers)
3)Like someone said "where was she when I was struggling?" If she had met me then will she have married me.
4)Why should I not enjoy myself with others? If I should drop dead today, will she not get married to another?


THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR CHEATING. But men will feel the need to cheat less if their women where to treat them right. My two cents.

@blink182, it is true that you don't bank with them. But has it ever occurred to you that if UBA can get away with such policy other Nigerian banks will soon start implementing it.

@topic, the simple question I asked myself yesterday was this; "if UBA is about to go bankrupt, and am required to make a cash donation of 25k to save it, will I do it?" the simple answer is NO.
Then why should I leave my 25k balance with UBA, because I want to still be their customer?

Wait oh people. Does it mean as I would normally forfeit 1k when I want to close an account is the same way I will now forfeit 25k for UBA in my account.

First these guys did not even do any enlightenment campaign for at least one month and they want to start duping people of their 25k by 1st of July.

In recognition of its inability to sustain fuel subsidies and their impact on the fiscal regime of the federal government, President Goodluck Jonathan has set up a special committee comprising major marketers and other stakeholders in the economy to fully deregulate the petroleum products sub-sector of the oil industry by August this year.

The move will usher in a new pricing regime that will end price fixing of fuel and kerosene by the federal government, encourage investment by the private sector in oil refining, and in the medium to long-term, end the fuel importation regime that has been in existence for more than 15 years.

Industry sources said it is uncertain how the government intends to tackle labour unions which have been vehemently opposed to deregulation, but THISDAY checks indicated that Jonathan is bent on deregulating the sector because he is aware that government can no longer fritter away trillions of naira on subsidies that do not get to the people for whom it is intended.

Petroleum product importation also accounts significantly for the depletion of the nation's foreign reserves owing to high demand at Central Bank of Nigeria's weekly auctions by importers of petroleum products.

It is also estimated that as the economy expands and demand for energy grows, fuel subsidies will account for N1.3 trillion of federally collected revenue between 2011 and 2012 alone.

The governors last week advised the federal government to deregulate the prices of petroleum products. They took the decision to press for the removal of subsidy on petroleum products, which the government says costs billions monthly at the Nigeria Governors' Forum meeting last week in Abuja.

The governors who also renewed their campaign for a review of the revenue sharing formula, argued that the over N693 billion the federal government claims it spends annually on fuel subsidies could be shared to give the states more money.

Fuel deregulation, however, is inflationary, but the policy is expected to get the full backing of the CBN, which has always expressed concern about the sustainability of the subsidy regime and its impact on the federal government's finances.

Also, the federal government is expected to maintain that if it deregulates, this would free up resources that can be invested in better roads, railways and water transportation infrastructure.

But labour unions which have argued in favour of palliatives such as improved transportation system are expected to resist the policy. Already, organised labour has warned that government would be setting the country on fire if it goes ahead to withdraw fuel subsidy.

NLC acting General Secretary, Owei Lakemfa, said the removal of fuel subsidies is an indirect appeal for an increase in the cost of pump prices across the country.

Lakemfa said in a statement last week that the call for subsidy removal by governors is a bait that the federal government should not take. “There are a lot of problems in the country. Our leaders must learn from the protests that have been sweeping through North Africa and the Arab world,” the statement said.

Industry sources have also hinted that other than labour which is expected to resist the move towards deregulation, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation is expected to outwardly pay lip service to the policy, but will do everything behind the scenes to thwart it. Managers in NNPC and its subsidiary PPMC, have been some of the biggest beneficiaries of the deep-seated graft and inefficient supply regime in the country.

It will not be in their interest, industry sources revealed, to see the end of deregulation. According to the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, the federal government subsidised petroleum products to the tune of N621.5 billion last year.

The PPPRA pricing template for June, 2011 shows that a litre of petroleum product is subsidised by approximately N81 a litre.

The landing cost per litre of imported petrol, according to the PPPRA, is N135.52, but the total amount per litre is N148.72 after the addition of distribution margins as follows: retailers (N4.60); transporters (N2.75); dealers (N1.75); bridging fund plus Marine Transport Average rates (N3.95); and administrative charge (N15).

Petrol, however, is sold at N65 per litre while daily consumption of the product is currently estimated at 35 million per litres.

Kerosene is subsidised to the tune of N111.01 per litre while daily consumption is eight million litres. The pump price of Kerosene is N50 per litre, but it costs N161.01 per litre to get it to fuel stations.

In the case of kerosene, its landing cost, according to PPPRA, is N147.81. Add to this is the distribution margin which is broken down as follows: retailers - N4.60; transporters - N2.75; dealers' margin - N1.75; bridging fund plus MTA - N3.95; and administrative charge of N0.15. This brings the total cost per litre to N161.01.

Unlike petrol, which private sector marketers import, kerosene in recent months has been imported exclusively by NNPC, a development that has led to its scarcity owing to the corporation's inefficient distribution structure and corruption in the system.

Diesel and aviation fuel, on the other hand, have been deregulated for some years.

This is a very good thread. For people who are afraid to venture into build for rent, I will advice that you fear not.
I will only advice that you try to use your own money to build, even if you have to go for a loan let the initial 60 to 70% be your own money or your family's money.
Great wealth grow slowly, but grow it must. You may not witness it in your own generation but if you teach ur children how to prudently manage the family's wealth, then you can die being rest assured that your children will be well taken care of.
for instance my family has been living off the rent collected from the family apartment building. And am looking towards building more apartment buildings for rent. Now imagine in the next 40 to 50 years when more apartment buildings have been added to the portfolio the amount of income that the family will be generating fro PASSIVE INCOME. And we do not have business men/women in the family, only salary earners.
But most young men want to drive flashy cars and go out with even more flashy women, while paying rent to landlords.
Just know that even your landlord's DOG is your LANDLORD.
