this story is not yet complete. The police was patrolling the area due to a distress call. Does that mean the guy who was entertaining guests came out at that time and started brandishing a gun. Or the distress call was directed at the guys house? When the police man noticed the gun, why didn't he just threaten the guy that either he hands over the gun or he risks arrests? why didn't they ask the man for identification or simply release a bullet in the air if it was just to intimidate the guy to hand over the gun?
The wife claims that her husband was shot in front of her? I don't think she was reffering to any scuffle.
Abeg there are so many questions begging for an answer from this story.

There are so many encounters I have had with the NPF. But I will never forget the day about Four police guys made me to know they were specially trained in slapping people.
On the said day, I was stopped at a check point within the Aba city. The guy that stopped me asked for my papers and I gave him, after checking it and found everything to be in order. He started looking all over the car, later he called me out to show me a crack in my rear trafficator light covering. I was like, eeh what do U want me to do about it. That was all the motivation he needed. The next thing was, let's go to the station. On the way to the station, I made the unforgivable mistake of telling him that am not going again, but unfortunately we were already near the station. He literally dragged me to the station with two other police guys,who were outside the station, pointing there guns at me.
When we got to the station, one police guy from no where just sliced me to the ground. Then the slapping section started. They all took turns to slap the hell out me. When they got tired they handcuffed me with another guy there, and started preparing the file for statement. It was only then that I sent a text message to my lawyer and a cousin. Before finishing the statement, my cousin and the lawyer arrived to bail me out, while I left my car at the station. I was told to come another day and bail my car.

I still dream of running over the guy who arrested.

My dear MBJ, this back and forth will actually lead no where. The woman in question, it seems have not questioned the husband. NL, will not give her the answers she is looking for. Like I said in my earlier post, I believe this is a case of the woman being insecure. What stops the wife from calling the hubby on his cell to let him know she is coming, or even when she gets there why didn't she call hubby (albeit knowing the security have alerted him). Also what stops her from just leaving a message on his cell or with the staff and head home.

@Op, am an only son, though am still single. I can actually relate with what you are saying, cos of what is happening in my life right now. Everybody, from sisters to cousins to friends wants me to get married. For instance, I have a girl I really love, who i believe also loves me. But because she wants me to give her more time(coupled with pressure from her family not to marry me, because am SS) my elder sister wants me to move on and forget about her.
Now imagine, my not being able to have a child_in ten years of marriage will the same advice not be given.

In another twist to Thursday’s botched Sokoto rescue saga, the alleged masterminds of the incident, Boko Haram have denied being behind the episode, which led to the killing of a Briton and Italian.

According to Sky News, sources told them that a Boko Haram spokesman called a Nigerian journalist in Sokoto to tell him that the Islamic group had no hand in the incident.

Virtually everyone, including President Goodluck Jonathan and British Prime Minister David Cameroon, had blamed the group, which had been waging a violent campaign in the country, for the saga, which began last May with the abduction of Italian, Franco Lamolinara and Briton, Chris McManus from Bernin Kebbi, where they were building a branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria in the Kebbi State capital.

Sky News sources further went on to say that the Boko Haram spokesman said they had not yet changed their modus operandi to include kidnapping and extortion. So far the group has claimed responsibility for a number of high profile bombings and attacks on security outfits and personnel.

Meanwhile, the diplomatic fallout from the botched has intensified with Italy ranking up its attack on fellow European Union member, Britain.

Italy's foreign minister said Friday that Rome was demanding Britain communicate further details on its failed Nigeria rescue bid "in the next hours".

Giulio Terzi di Sant'Agata said after talks with British Foreign Secretary William Hague that "I asked for detailed information because we have a right to maximum clarity on this episode."

The Italian minister spoke after meeting with Hague on the sidelines of informal EU foreign ministers' talks in Copenhagen.

"I also communicated the immense suffering that this news caused an Italian family," he told reporters.

"And I insisted that the information we have requested be sent to us as soon as possible, in the coming hours."

Italy has condemned as "inexplicable" Britain's failure to warn it ahead of time of an operation to rescue a pair of British and Italian hostages in Nigeria that resulted in their deaths.

President Giorgio Napolitano earlier said that "the behaviour of the British government, which did not inform or consult with Italy on the operation that it was planning, really is inexplicable."

"There needs to be a political and diplomatic clarification," he said.

Responding to Italian anger over not being consulted on the botched rescue, Hague said earlier there had been "limited time" and too many "constraints".

"We worked closely with the Italian government through this case from May last year", when the pair, Franco Lamolinara and Chris McManus, were kidnapped, Hague told reporters.

"We had to make a decision very quickly, a decision to go ahead with this operation. We had very limited time and that constrained how much we could inform others," he said.

"We were able to inform the Italian government as the operation got under way but not to do more than that," Hague added.

"I think everyone understands the constraints involved, the rapid timing involved in a case like this."

operation MESA has been in Lagos for some time now, and like every confrotation between the uniformed men and the civilian masses there is bound to be some extremes. will U like it if operation MESA is scrapped? Cos that is what will happen when FG pulls out the army. Fuel subsidy protest will come and go, but other protest civil or violent will still come.

I may not like GEJ that much, bought FG is not to be blamed for every little that goes wrong in this country. This new goes to show that it wasn't the FG that invited the army.

The Defence Headquarters Thursday said the deployment of soldiers in Lagos State was part of the long-standing agreement with the state government and the military.

However, the Lagos State Government has declared the claim as false, saying the said arrangement was put in place during the Olusegun Obasanjo regime to fight crime and not to stop peaceful protests.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the Director of Defence Information, Col. Mohammed Yerima, denied the allegation that the Federal Government ordered the deployment of troops in Lagos to halt the protests against subsidy removal.

Yerima disclosed that the soldiers were acting based on the scope of the mandate of the Special Task Force (STF) codenamed “Operation MESA”, which he said, was set up and sponsored by the state government long before the fuel subsidy protests.

He noted that Governor Babatunde Fashola-led government had invited the soldiers for the purpose of supporting the civil police in protecting lives and property in Lagos, which was one of the main reasons they are currently deployed to do as a result of some security reports.

He said: “The soldiers seen on the streets of Lagos are still the same of the Special Task Force code-named Operation MESA set up and sponsored by the Lagos State Government long before the fuel subsidy protests for the purpose of supporting the civil police in protecting lives and property as is the case in many parts of the country.

“The men of the Task Force who are currently in Lagos have been there and were not brought from outside Lagos. They are members of Lagos State Government sponsored Operation MESA and the demand for their withdrawal is uncalled for.”

The Defence spokesman noted that while Lagos State Government reserved the right to refuse further services of the armed forces and may demand their withdrawal, such decisions should not be done through the pages of newspapers.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State government through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Ibirogba, has challenged the military authorities to show proof of the request of troop deployment to the streets of the state.

The commissioner stated that what the military authorities would have done was to take "the honourable path by apologising to the people of Lagos for an unpopular act, they have resorted to offering spurious and bogus claims aimed at deceiving the people.”

According to him, "That this claim is coming four days after the Governor’s address, which he followed with a letter to the Presidency, is an obvious afterthought. It is also inconsistent with the explanation offered by the Minister of Defence who said they deployed the soldiers in order to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

"This attempt to cover up has left the public with much confusion, as the Minister of Defence offered one reason and the Military authority has offered another. They should just take the honourable path by apologising to the people of Lagos State and withdraw the soldiers forthwith."

While reiterating that "the administration of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) has always been in the vanguard of democratic principles as well as civility," Ibirogba said: "It will be totally irrational to expect that the Governor would call on the Military to occupy the streets of Lagos."

"The presence of the Police, Army and other federally controlled security agencies in Lagos does not translate to their been under the control of the State and so the inclusion of soldiers in the joint Military patrol through OP-MESA should not be used to cover up this wrong act of drafting soldiers on the streets of Lagos to quell fuel subsidy protest which the Police has contained for five days," he added.

The hate and bigotry on this forum is particularly high. If we take this forum as a sample of the ethnic groups in the country, then I make bold to say that Rwandan type of genocide is sure to follow in the near future.
NL is but an insignificant percentage to cause that type of genocide. Like Rwanda, it will take other popular forms of mass media (TV and radio) for the hatred to actually spread.
Moreover, the faceless people on this forum that always talk bad about other ethnic groups CANNOT boldly say sh.it in the physical.
Having said that, I have thought of the possibility that one of these radical groups may kill a high ranking govt official or personality that will actually lead us finally to the inevitable bloody revolution that is bound to follow, if our leaders do not act fast to forestall it.

But on a serious note, why can't all (both the man and woman) assert their individuality. Sometimes I cringe at the thought of asking for monetary help, even from my relations.

Am not against helping someone when in need. For instance I got these babe, and she has never asked me for any financial assistance before (almost three years now). But I do know that as a student (not from a well to do home), there are times she got to be in needs. When we speak on phone I try to detect that sad note in her voice, but if I ask her if anything is troubling her she will automatically say NO.
I have since made up my mind to give her the little assistance I can render anytime I visit her.

This is very sad for Nigeria. But like everything bad in this country, when it starts it's very hard to stop.
