My thinking is that whoever is behind these bombings must be a genius (Evil maybe).

Let's look at it this way; since the two widely acclaimed major contenders in this poll is GEJ and Buhari.
If this wave of violence continues the camp of both sides will continue to trade blames.
What has both men in common, on the surface nothing, but if you critically look at it you will find out that both men either now or not too long ago have had a COMMON ENEMY.

If the election does not take place before may 29th the present govt will have no choice but to continue in power. Then nigerians will truely be angry as to toe the line of Egypt, Sudan and Libya. The govt will have no choice but to bring in the millitary to curtail the revolution. Beleive me you, the millitary will ask the govt to step down untill such a time when the revolution would have been curtailed. (No one can blame anyone of coup plotting)

Alternatively if the above scenerio doesn't play out and the election holds, (am Buhari supporter) and GEJ wins (which am pretty sure will happen). Then, the North (illiterates and semi-illiterates) will truely be angry and the past bombings that we have witnessed will be like a child's play compared to the kind of carnage taht will be wrecked on people perceived as enemies of the North.

But if by some miracle Buhari wins, the MEND(it will be made to look as if it were the MEND) will be deployed to carry out a level of destruction unprecedentend in the history of their establishment. Again the millitary maybe called to quell the uprising (then ODI massacre will look like a child's play).

The only thing I don't understand is how GEJ and Buhari played into their hands. By this I mean, why both men were not cearful in making careless utterances during their campaign.

Buhari indirectly asked that people be killed if caught rigging the election. GEJ went to the south west and called the opposition rascals; he went further by accepting IBB as his mentor, nott forgetting that he openly absolved MEND of any complicty in the October 1st bombing.

Nigerian we should all be vigilant, these are troubling times.

Isn't it high time that the Nigerian govt. did something concerning the National Youth Service Scheme. Must we continue to loose a good number of youths(graduates at that) to unnecessary and sometimes avoidable deaths that has nothing to do with them.

The ideology behind the scheme is not just working.

PLEASE ANYONE ON THIS FORUM THAT HAS THE EARS OF THE PEOPLE IN GOVT. SHOULD ADVICE THEM TO SCRAP THE SCHEME OR BETTER STILL LET EVERY GRADUATE SERVE IN HIS OR HER HOME STATE.

This has notthing to do with politics, we are steadily sacrificing our youths to unnecessary deaths.(It's not even as if the job is available after the one year waste).

Why on God's earth will some people decide that the best way to put accross their message is by bombing their fellow citezens.

Guys, PDP will use this one week postponement to seriously strategize. I was hoping that both NASS and presidential election would have taken place the same day. My reason being that those who will vote massively for BB will also vote massivel for those contesting under CPC in the NASS election. Likewise those who will vote massively for ACN and other parties likewise.
But with these seperate dates for diff levels, the seperationist theory still remains. Like someone pointed out in another thread, little is known about candidates (apart from PDP's) contesting the NASS election under other political platform.

The enlightened once among us must continue sensitizing the masses on the need to vote out PDP. Please let us not relent.

I knw I shldn't blame the pressident.
But my post was based on the press conference given by Jega (I totally do not absolve the INEC head from blames either). Jega said that after the initial disappointment by the vendor (though we don't knw the name of the company) they promised that the materials will arrive latest 5.30pm yesterday. When that didn't happen and he waited till 8.30pm, why didn't he take the decision then to postpone the election.
according to him the materials arrived by 9.00am today and when he realised that the materials won't get to all the states, that was when he decided to postpone the election.

My arguement is this, even when the materials arrived today, why did he even allow distribution to some states, may be someone HIGHER-UP wants to see a sample for reproduction. 'cos even as of yesterday I was listening to one of the civil rights group leader, no one knows hw the ballot papers actually look like which would have been good.
Another thing being that even if Japan had not had that earthquake, and say it happened to another country, I believe Jega would have still come up with the excuse that it was the said country that they gave the contract.
In summary I believe that there is more to this than Jega or whoever is willing to divulge. (Sorry for blaming GEJ initially but time will tell).

Why am I not suprised. Last week or so the commissioner of police in Rivers state also told the voting public not to stay back after they cast their votes, irrespective of the INEC directive.
Today we hearing that the IGP is ordering people not to come to the polling stations with their cell phones.
Just this week I was discussing with an INEC supervisor, and he was giving me details of how rigging is being carried out in different polling units across the country. After the narratives I asked him how much he gets paid for assisting(cos he told me that whether he co-operates or not rigging will still take place) he mentioned something like 15000, that is at the ward level. Also sometime ago a friend told me he gets paid like 50000 for helping thumb print stolen ballot boxes. Poverty is the root cause I blame for those that help PDP in rigging.

If BB must win this particular election, Nigerian must not anly be ready to cast their vote, but also to defend the votes by ANY MEANS NECESSARY.
If we are not ready to defend our votes, please their is no need for anyone to shout that PDP have rigged again. Just like The comrade governor said, YOU RIG YOU DIE.

From pages 1-10, I can only see guys like Harakiri making points I can relate with. I read everything cos like the poster am curious to know what women really contribute to relationship.
All the others who try to speak up for the women folk (male and female inclusive) are just not convincing. some gurls have said A LOT how do you define that? Some have quoted the old saying "BEHIND EVERY SUCCESSFUL MAN THERE IS A WOMAN" that doesn't asnwer the question. I could actually argue that the woman behind a successful man could be a mother, sister, or any other female relative. Someone qouted Oscar Wilde, but couldn't tell us what women really contribute.
Some ladies (and guys) would have us believe that because women give birth (which some will actually dump on the roadside, as motherless babies workers will testify) that we should actually shut up and take everything dished out to us.

My opinion is that "IF" there is anything a woman thinks she contributes to a relationship(marriage inclusive) let her (or those other guys in their favour) know that a man can get it without actually marrying or being in a relationship.

1.SEX: I can get that on pay-as-you-go basis

2. EMPATHY: A guy, or any of my female realtives can provide that

3.SOMEONE TO HELP ORGANIZE MY LIFE: Please there are secretaries and house helps

4. BABIES: Without even mentioning TUFACE STYLE, I could equal get it on a pay-as-you-go basis (AKA baby making factory at Lagos, Aba etc.)

Please am really curious to know what a woman can give or contribute to a man that I cannot get without being saddled with RELATIONSHIP OR MARRIAGE.

I like this thread. I have read most of kiyosaki's book, I don't think it's impracticable and I also have some issues with agreeing that all his method will work in Naija.
The issues I have, and which I expected the poster to raise, is the situation where a poor guy with no collateral could go a Nigerian bank(mortgage or commercial) and ask for a loan to invest in business or real estate like Kiyosaki did in the US. I think that will be highly difficult in Naija, though not impossible.

Kiyosaki built his wealth through mortgage loan, but asking someone without a collateral or long-leg in Naija to do same is like, telling a kid that s/he can fetch water with a basket.
having said that, I agree that if you have a good leverage like a well paid job, wealthy family and friends who can give you their trust, family inheritance, good education (academic as well financial and technology know-how) you can achieve what Kiyosaki achieved or even better than he did.

I will also add that Naija's should be encouraged to read about other Nigerians that have achieved a measure of wealth it will aslo help.

In as much as hate to admit it, the poster's analysis is right.Even in a free and fair election, Buhari will not win this one. One of the reasons that strongly works against Buhari and other oppositon parties is the break down of the alliance talk.
Am one of those that travel around Nigeria often, I can tell you that real voting populace will not back Buhari. Most rural people only see GEJ as president come next election (to them the election itself is a mere formality).
Am in no way suggesting that the informed ones among us should vote en-mass for PDP, but the ugly thruth is that the average Nigerian on the street, without Internet or press bias is going to give GEJ his vote.
I still hope that God will cause a miracle to happen, Nigerians have suffered much under PDP's rule.

Of they are both adults and can do what they like, and for someone like me it may lead to having affairs outside (two wrongs dont make a rite huh?) or walking out of the marriage (NO BE BY FORCE TO REMAIN IN R/SHIP WITHOUT TRUST).

I believe that there is justification for a man to raise his hands on a woman. Having said that, what would have been the better option; slapping the woman, getting too upset as to start having affairs outside as a result of lost confidence or just walking out the marriage contract.

@mrs Chima, I understant that the guys action could have led him to jail in the US. But, the ladies action could also lead to a general break down of the whole marriage and in a divorce proceeding she may lose custody of their children and alimony. (Am not sure about the divorce process though).

In Cambodia, the term refers to high ranking female servants who served food and drink, fanned and massaged, and sometimes provided sexual services to the King. It is however not clear what Justin Adaba and Amina Iye Ahmadu do for Mrs. Jonathan.

Am not sure what they do for her. But if am to take a guess I will say that one or both performs sexual services, in relation to other functions. Afterall GEJ is on call 24hrs as one of his supporters rightly pointed out (and it will be suspicious if madam employ a guy for such SPECIAL duties).

@ shooze and Mrs Chima, I agree with you that character has a huge part to play in the game of love and romance. But it also applies to both the man and the woman.

For instance I know a woman that stood by her husband thru thick and thin, only for the man to frustrate her out of their matrimonial home, by bringing in another woman into the the house after 20years of marriage.

on the contrary we also have seen a more popular example in no less a person than a Cosmas Maduka of COSCHARIS, whose in-law especially the wifes uncle would not have him marry their daughter becos he is a no-body. But the wife stood by him. Please say, is the woman not reaping from the choice she made then.

I have also heard of cases where a man supports a girl and her family only for the girl to realise after many years of courtship that the man is not the right person for her or is not in the same class with her anymore(since she is now a graduate and the man is just an OMATA trader).

To all these, I still maintain that Life is  a gamble and God is the deciding factor. But we as humans have a right to make our choices and await for the profit/loss as a result of the choices we have made.

Hey I think these arguement is getting to no where. Women and men have their preferences.
But like someone rightly pointed out, life is not just black and white.
Most women I know that will not date a poor guy or are too sure of themselves and their ability in earning money, are those from a well to do family or the middle class family. I know this because am from one of them homes. But when life deals you a hard blow (example; losing your dad at a tender age), you will start viewing life differently.

@ Mrs Chima, I can relate with what you are saying(it is not totally wrong to want a better life for yourself), but there are situations in life that can humble you.

Poverty is not a crime (I am not poor ooh), most rich people we see started from poor homes or have tasted want in some way. People fail to realise that it is only when you hunger for something that you will actually start making great effort to getting that thing.

@ post let your friend remain focused, it is even better if he hungers for wealth now cos it will drive him to become more creative in searching for a way at of his present circumstances. 33 not too late for a man to start looking for ways to get ahead in life.

I came back fromwork today, and was discussing with my mum about Union bank. She then said something like, "but Fr. Ejike Mbaka told them they will fall". To be honest I wasn't aware that there was a rift between Fr Mbaka and Union bank. Then I googled it, and found this post.

Some people on this post have actually been questioning the authenticity of the reverend gentleman. I have never seen father Mbaka in person or gone anywhere near his adoration ministry. But I will advice all never to speak ill of men who are ordained. Be it the catholic priest or the penticostal pastors, you can always take your case to God in prayers who searches the heart of all.

I wouldn't know if it is because of the curse of the reverend gentleman or because of the law of banking all over the world. like one of my Professors once said, "It only takes a rumour that a bank is having financial problems, to make the bank fold. NO MATTER HOW BIG THE BANK MAY BE".

It only takes people to believe the rumour, the next thing they will start withdrawing the money in the bank, till the bank is unable to meet it's financial obligations.

My people, seriously both GEJ and BAT made a mistake in their choice of words. This is simply a case of DO ME; I DO YOU.
Now let us think objectively.
Many are calling for BAT'S head 'cos he should have known better, and refrain from insulting his president. But we all forget the role of culture in all this. BAT took GEJ's words as an insult to elders (people older than him). Whether GEJ is a president or not, an insult to elders will not go away just like that in African culture.

Having said that, I think all these tribal sentiments on this forum should cease. We should be asking ourselves how will these politicians improve our lives, what do we expect of them when the April election finally comes and go.
If this country breaks up today, do you all think that the politicians will be much affected. Or if there is war, if it will affect them or their families.

All these talk of, HE IS FROM MY VILLAGE will not get us any where. The politicians will keep on raising this kind of issues, so long as it keeps the ordinary Nigerian away from asking for a better life for him and his family.

In my opinion GEJ and BAT does not care if this country burns to ashes, so long as it does not affect them or their families.

I really have learnt a lot from reading comments on this thread. It's as if am the huy in question, only that I have inheritance to fall back on if things start getting worse or frustration starts getting to the maximum level.

It's a pity that most Nigerian women cannot look beyond the present. Like I said above I have something to fall back on, yet I don't want to start my life that way. I want to really take it slow and steady building my foundation.

@post, I have been there and though am not totally out of the woods financially, I know what it means to face rejection because you are not financially bouyant at present.
My advise is for your friend to halt marriage talks at present and start laying a solid foundation for his future. Either he goes back to school to do a masters programme or he starts thinking of a trade to learn, or someone hee can understudy in business.

Believe me when I say this, most present day Nigerian women are not ready to struggle with any guy. That does not mean that when financial break through finally comes for you guy (as it must, if he remains focus), that he should treat the ladies with lack of respect.

Sorry to derail a little. In my case the ladies I have come across are always eager to please when they find out that I have inheritance and that my sibblings are well to do. But after some months or even years (as one case has proven) and they are not getting what they imagined initially, they will bolt like a lightening. I am not ready to feed off my family because they I rich.
Like I always say, if that cannot stand by me now that am struggling to better my future then she is useless to me when my future becomes better. I thank God today that I have a masters degree, and I know that this lack of finances will not last forever.

I can't really talk about other schools, but UNILAG(at least I have my first and second degrees from there).
There is no way you can hope to bribe your into gettin a first class in UNILAG. IT IS NOT ABOUT CONNECTION.
There are certain people in that school who will never accept your body(females) or your money in exchange for a academic compensation.
Again before awarding a first class to anyone, it takes the majority of the committee set up for the award of degrees to agree that any particular student deserves a first class.

Academic excellence does not equal practical experience, so some of the first class graduants may not be able to excel in the practical world. Moreover an excellent perfomance in a written examination, does not equate to long term memory.

One of the things I hate doing is having to ask anyone for financial assistance, especially babes. Nogerian gurls have this annoying habit of making a broadcast if they as much as help their boyfriends financially.
One question I will like some girls to answer is why they don't take it as a big issue if, they were to be rendering the same assistance to their fellow gals (who in likelyhood may not even pay back, and if they do it may actually result in a break up of the friendship), I knw it does not apply to all ladies.

Everybody seem to be asking where the dude got the money to pay back the first time, what if he had to borrow from some other person to pay back. Some other people are wondering what value he adds to the gal. My question to that is, will the gal love him if she didn't see anything attractive in him? If he were to be a cripple will the gal love him? if he were to be a deformed person will the gal love him?

Please ladies if you don't feel like helping your guy financially, don't do it.
But, tomorrow if the guy becomes financially stable that is when we start hearing "BEHIND EVERY SUCCESSFUL MAN IS A WOMAN". Why not support him emotionally, spiritually and financially now that he is nothing. If at the end of the day he does not show appreciation then the curse should be on his head.

I like to read through the various posts before making any comment, that is if it necessary I make one.
People have been making various inflammatory comments on this thread. Some calling for SNC, others for a break up or war, while others are talking of revenge.
My opinion is this, Nigeria will not break up. WHY? The obvious reason is that when a visionary leader like Ojukwu called for the respect of the Aburi accord, it was violently rejected. Many innocent people died and Nigeria was plunged into a three year war, with so many tribes (the yorubas and the ijaws) siding with Nigeria against the igbos.
Secondly, during the terrible reign of the military dictator Abacha and even when Abubakar took over, certain intellectuals like Wole Soyinka, Enahoro et al called for a dialogue and possibly a SNC , it was equally rejected and most of the NADECO members lost their lives or went into exile.
Thirdly, Nigerians allowed a certain cabal to foist a military stooge (OBJ) on them all in the name that they wanted democracy. Now democracy is here, PDP is here, and power rotation is here, and we don’t like it.
IGBO’S will not go to war again to please anybody and if there is any other tribe as bold or courageous as the IGBO’S, who think they can break away from the contraption called Nigeria, I will gladly encourage them to try.
My fellow Nigerian’s let us consider any other way, but forget the illusion that other ethnic group’s will ever unite to fight the hausa/Fulani.

People, please let us stop apportioning blames. Rather let all begin to think seriously of how to end this destructive act. Nigerians like to apportion blames and that is why we seem to be moving round in cycles. An American predicted that Nigeria will break up and we all shouted blue murder. But now some people are advocating for that break up. The question is how many tiny countries do you think will come out from the break up?
At least I knw that the problem of Nigeria is not just between, the North and the South; Christain and Muslim; Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba. Nigeria is so much more than that. Breaking up Nigeria is not the solution. Rather we should find our voice and hold our leaders to accountability. Ordinary citezens' life are being wasted every other day in different parts of the country, while the so called elected people are busy looting our collective partrimony.
People wake up and think for a minute if this Jos bombing will be the last of it, if we just keep arguing that it is this religion or that. For a fact I do know that, there are truely grreat and conscience minded muslims as there christains. Am not asking them to come as one, all am saying is that on their on they should lend their voices in opposition to evil. Religion does not make the man, but conscience and character does.
Naija it is time to rise up and be counted, if we want to avoid future generations from witnessing even worst things than our generation.
