My fellow Nigerians we are now into a full recession, there's no doubt about it! Before this recession turns into a depression or a great depression I suggest smart thinking Nigerians invest in alternative forms of electricity, security measures and cut down on unnecessary spending. If you are a business person and you are still relying on NEPA then you are on along thing. If you are relying solely on petrol, you are equally on a long thing. Nigeria a country blessed with natural sunlight, metals and so much more, I see no reason why people must suffer in vain. Let's be realistic here, things are going to get much worse than this, it's only a matter of time. This government has been a disappointment since day 1 and it's high time people realize this is not about APC or PDP, not about Yoruba, Hausa or Igbos. This is not even about Christians or Muslims, this is about ensuring you survive in the jungle. The government is failing but that does not mean you must go down with it, liberate yourselves! |
Nigerians have really bad mouths! Let me analyze one guy's critique. 14m grin grin are u on crack...that car goes for 10k( 3.8m) dols in the us ... Shipping 1200dols( 450k) add another 250k as other expenses....it takes the total amount to 4.5m.... To upgrade is not more than 1m ..to clear not more than 1 m...totalling 6.5m ... Profit of 1m ...putting it at 7.5m market value.... How did u arrive at 14 m nwanne... Forget negotiations, at least u start with 8m for negotiationsA range rover 2006-2008 is way more than $17,000,you'll be lucky to find one with low mileage and a clear title for less than 20k. Add all the other cost and I think 9m to 10m is a fair price for this vehicle. What most people end up falling for is salvaged or rebuilt vehicle that are repaired and made to look like new. When you see someone selling a 2006 to 2008 Range Rover with low mileage for 6 million Naira, please ask questions! You do not want to end up buying a lemon! |
byrron:We are saying the same thing, incompetence=ineffective. Since all branches of government are incompetent, things like this will continue to happen. This is Nigeria, allegations=guilt most times! |
This is why those that really need the help most times never receive it from those who can truly help them. Imagine the drama, now it's no longer about the lady on the sick bed, now it's about fraud. Have we got no shame in this country? What does this mean for those in similar situations in the future? If you contributed a large sum to this campaign and it turns out to be fraud, how likely are you to contribute to another case in the future? |
byrron:You already know the answer, big fat NO! Then again is there even a competent judiciary system in Nigeria right now? |
Nairaland won't solve all your problems,at times Nairaland can leave you more confused! The fact that you spent 5 years of your life with this guy and are willing to throw it away for things beyond his control is highly concerning. You are still in your early 20s and by the tone of your write up hinting on phrases like "I know my worth" and "my parents want me to move on" shows you've got a long way to go before true enlightenment. I'm going to be frank with you, forget your education and your background. Perception is reality, you've definitely given the family a reason to see you as controlling or difficult. If you truly love this guy,I suggest you speak your mind and have a heart to heart with him instead of relying on strangers. Let him know you want his family to love you and even if he insists everything is okay, be persistent! Whenever you are around his family, be free and not so clingy. Whenever they want to discuss family matter, excuse them and trust in your man. Above all things, always remind your man to be generous towards his family even more than yours. It might seem beneath you or not worth the stress but my sister the end truly justifies the means. Be prayerful, be willing to fight for love and above all be humble! |
Dongreat:Hope the Ferrari or Lambo will not be driven on Nigerian roads, I just can't imagine the practicality of buying such cars obviously not meant for Nigerian roads ![]() |
The entire story is laughable! |
The panel said it established that the invasion of the IMN compound was carried out strictly on Mr. Oyebade’s order and without any rules of engagement, an action the commission said was at variance with the provisions of the Armed Forces Act, 1994, and the 1999 Constitution, both of which vested such authorities strictly in the president of the federal republic.Bad news for wailers, very bad news!!!! |
achieverme:Oh get off your high horse. She doesn't have to do sh*t if she does not want to. |
achieverme:She does not need to visit before I validate if she's wanted by law enforcement in the U.S, as a citizen of the United States I'm privileged to know this information. It's called the Freedom of Information Act 5 U.S.C. § 552, knowledge is power! |
Meche33:She's not wanted in the U.S, so I see no reason why she can't travel. There's no warrant out for her, no case whatsoever. I stay in the U.S and it's easy to verify these things. Anybody that thinks otherwise should prove me wrong! |
Wizkid is an adult, doing adult things in an adult industry. 70% of Nigerian artiste smoke hemp or cigars, some of them even engage in more exotic drugs, it's not only in Nigeria but all over the world. The difference between Wizkid and an ordinary person that smokes hemp is that he has enough money to get the best medical treatment if he needs it. |
How many people with the name of Aisha Buhari exists in Nigeria, I bet we can find at least 100. Does Fayose have any evidence confirming that the Aisha Buhari mentioned is the president's wife? I've been searching through some court and governmental database with the help of a few friends here in the U.S and I can't find any case or warrant against Aisha Buhari, perhaps Fayose has his very own private database ![]() |
We all know how terrible Abacha was but if you ask most people on this forum and in Nigeria generally, if they had the option to choose a father like Abacha with all his wealth and power, would they decline? Not to talk of a child that did not have a choice, she couldn't choose her parents so she doesn't deserve the ridicule and insults. Nigeria is a fantastically corrupt country and the masses are equally as corrupt as their elected officials. |
Okay what is so special about this? Is it because she's a Nigerian or a female? Perhaps it's because she's Hausa or the university is in England? |
If they were truly terrorists they would not have been deported in such a manner. The truth is that there were not enough evidence against them to label them as terrorists but any government has the right to refuse visitors into its country, the Nigerian government just exercised its rights. |
Bitterleafsoup:What's this one saying? Before 2012 opening a bank account in Nigeria was a breeze, any i.diot could do it! The other part of your comment does not even deserve a response! |
It's funny seeing how clueless some people are and I know the reason why they are clueless! They simply don't understand the situation! Let's assume that Aisha Buhari is guilty, why would she be wanted by the U.S? Giving a bribe to a U.S Congressmen is not a crime for the giver, it's immoral but not illegal. Even the Whites do it, they just call it lobbying. Now even if it is a crime, the prosecuting nation would be Nigeria not U.S so can someone explain why she would be wanted in the U.S? Now let's get back to what I believe truly happened, before 2012 there was nothing like proper identification for bank accounts. Anyone could forge identification and use it to open a bank account. In Nigeria alone we have more than 100 people bearing the name Aisha Buhari, so can we really be sure it's the same Aisha? I think Fayose misfired on this one and it would eventually lead to the end of his political career. |
Topics like this needs to come with a warning ***OPINION****! What is fashion? Is it not people experimenting with different combinations and styles of dressing, presenting it to the world till it becomes acceptable or a trend. The baggy shirt or jeans is fashionable to certain demographics, short socks are fashionable depending on the occasion or combination. At a point in time people went gaga for TM shirts, now it's basically poo, at a point in time double breasted suits with vests were the toast of the business world now it's a burden. So I ask again what is fashion? |
If they like let them increase it to 100 Naira per KW, the smart ones no longer rely on NEPA or generators. A combination of solar and inverter power generation is the future of Nigeria. |
Why are unmarried people answering this topic, even those still living with their parents are forming experts, rubbish! Some people even suggesting the guy not hitting it right, this is absolute hogwash! Women are emotional creatures controlled by hormones. When hormonal imbalances occur there's nothing you can do other than respecting her wishes. Going 2 weeks without sex giving her room to reset will not kill you as a guy. In those two weeks pay more attention to her emotional needs. Talk more, discuss memories and future plans. If you are blessed with kids, talk about your kids. Make her feel like the luckiest woman in the world, change environment if you can and trust me she'll be back to her normal self. Normal married couples have less sex as time goes on, the amount of sex between 1 to 5 years of marriage will be drastically reduced compared to 10 to 15 years. It's nature, in fact most married men find 2 times a week to be more than satisfying, so chilax! |
Quakertellicus1:You've already convicted the men based on one side of the story right? Even the other girl who was also kidnapped said she was not molested. The only thing that seems to make the men look guilty is the fact that they ran away otherwise I find the story very suspicious. Perhaps these girls are wayward girls from the neighborhood that have lost their innocence a long time ago, I wouldn't be surprised as 11 and 12 year old children are now getting pregnant easily in Nigeria nowadays even when not raped or molested. Perhaps they were actually molested, who knows? Were any tests carried out? In advanced countries DNA evidence solves this case but in Nigeria na O.Y.O ![]() |
I smell lies. She said in a soft, low voice, ‘‘I was at home when one of my friends came to call me last Sunday (June 26). She brought a salad and said we should eat together. I obliged. It was around 8pm [/b]and while we were eating the salad not far from my house.Sign of waywardness, sign of poor upbringing. ‘We showed him the remaining salad but instead, he started dragging us away. When we got to a road that leads to where the high chief lives, he dragged us through another road.So one guy is able to drag two females through two roads? She cried, adding, ‘‘Ikechukwu went out and returned with two bottles of stout offering the content to us to drink. That was when I stood up to ask where the high chief who he said summoned us was. He became violent and said we should drink the stout. Mrs. Ejike explained that the two men that raped her daughter have since fled the village.Hahahaha, the other girl was not molested? WTF? Did she use juju or what. Seriously, this story should be investigated!! |
dvee2:You want to teach me about Obama and U.S economic policies? Better stick to topics more familiar to you. I'm sure you are well educated and are not the type to argue with sentiments so I'll break it down for you. Obama introduced comprehensive economic policies(Bailout, reforms to the housing and banking sectors, consumer laws and so on) in his first year, this stopped the bleeding in the first year. The U.S stopped losing jobs and foreclosure rates started declining. This is a sign of a serious president, even with all that he was still criticized because the economy was not adding jobs or growing but just leveling off. Now what do I mean by leveling off? I meant, companies stopped packing up, banks remained open, unemployment rate stopped crashing and the stock market stopped crashing. All this was done in the first year. Now by your reasoning, you expect Nigerians to just sit back and wait till after 4 years before vexing or criticizing? Most sensible Nigerians are not even asking for a vibrant economy, they just want the decline to stop. For how long will the poor masses be able to afford tomatoes at 400% its normal price or watch as essential commodities are no longer affordable? I want you to understand this and understand it well, Buhari met a disaster when he assumed office, we all get that but the citizens did not vote him in to make things worse, Obama got things going in his first year and the people felt it, hopefully Buhari can impact the lives of the masses positively before the end of his second year. |
dvee2: Just when I thought you were one of the great intellects on Nairaland, you had to respond with the bold words above, very disappointing! Obama didn't spend his first year in office dragging the economy down,he introduced the bail out and other economic policies and that stopped the bleeding, the job loss and home foreclosures started to decline and by the end of his first term, the U.S recorded the first positive growth in the economy. By the beginning of his second term the economy is trending upwards. Compare that to Buhari that has spent the entire first year implementing disastrous economic policies, chasing after corrupt officials with little to no results and watching the economy plummet into a full blown depression. To compare Buahri's first term to Obama's is like comparing banana to tomatoes in Nigeria right now, ridiculous!Read the bold part son, READ! Sounds like you need to take your own advice and head back to school ![]() |

dvee2:What's this one saying? After a year, we are still playing this game, just stop it already! No one is expecting a miracle, just show Nigerians the plan that is in place and we can then have hope for the future. Sensible Nigerians are not expecting a swift turnaround but after a year things should not be worse than he met it. A year is enough to get us back to equilibrium(We don't even want the campaign promises anymore just equilibrium), if you don't think so then I'm even more sorry for you! |
What do you mean by 'NEVER'? I hate when people use this particular word because it is absolute and if there's one thing I know about relationships it is the fact that it's not just black and white, there are grey areas. If it took just mere words to destroy a relationship then that relationship[ wasn't meant to be in the first place. People say mean things to one another when angry or frustrated but what determines a quality relationship is the ability to reconcile. Shit happens a lot and we don't live in fairy tales, even the Westerners that came up with all this bullsh*t about etiquette in relationships have yet to perfect it themselves not to talk of Africans. |
yomz1e:Stop being so dramatic, GTB is one of the biggest banks in Nigeria and one comment is not going to be their end! |
saintdennis:Not only do I have two MBAs but I currently manage over 30 individuals. My day to day activities includes meetings with various levels of leadership such as AVP's and VP's of several departments/companies. If I wasn't in corporate America, I'd probably be teaching business courses in one of the universities. Now enough about me, let me point out your errors! Firstly, the responsibilities of a board member and a gate-man are not the same because most times board members are elected not hired. You can fire a gate-man at any point in time but a board member not so easily! In addition, I think you are only looking at things from a business point of view and not personal which is wrong, we must look at things objectively not with bias. Mr. Alli just retired from the board, he no longer represents GTB so he is free to condone or blast anyone he chooses. Now the customer in question is not enough for GTB to get involved, if the issue escalates then I'm sure their PR team would come out with a statement/apology but for now they won't as Mr. Alli no longer represents them. Finally, by supporting the customer's actions you are directly encouraging such behaviors in the future, there are appropriate channels for such discourse not a personal social media account. This is equivalent to a customer showing up at Mr. Alli's home and registering his or her displeasure at GTB's services, this is wrong and one can easily understand why Mr. Alli chose to respond in such a manner, perhaps if he still held the position he would have kept shut. Like I said earlier in a more advanced country, it would probably be more news worthy but in Nigeria everybody is angry including board members ![]() |
yomz1e:Can't help but laugh, your comment alone shows you know nothing about the business world or leadership. Once someone retires they are no longer bound to that company, their opinions do not speak for the company neither does their actions! You speak of pension and once again I laugh because it has nothing to do with the discussion. Mr. Alli is entitled to his opinion, on his personal page he has every right to condone or blast anyone he feels like, the customer violated his space and got the appropriate response. Not everyone can be graceful all the time, you do not know what this man is going thru neither did you know his mindset at that particular time, it could happen to anyone so just give it a rest! He is not GTB, his opinion is his alone and not a GTB policy so stop the unfair accusations! |
