Delafruita:
how are majority of those in lagos state civil service muslims?the LSCS is a very wide and broad organization that encompasses over 50 branches so I wonder how you arrived at your conclusion.

I admire bola tinubu's sagacity and I have much respect for him but I sincerely don't agree with the choice of buhari as presidential candidate and osibanjo as his vice.buhari doesn't seem to have an idea of what a 21st century nigeria should be.an anti-corruption mantra isn't enough to move a country forward.despite the monumental corruption in lagos, fashola has still achieved a lot so I believe a president with a vision can still achieve a lot inspite of corruption.I would have loved seeing a fashola on the ballot or even an amaechi.its unfortunate they weren't even allowed to put themselves up for consideration

Osibanjo has no political weight.almost on the same level with tunde bakare and fola adeola.wrong choice

As for me,my vote will go to tunji braithwaite.I believe in his ideas even though I don't understand his politics.ambode gets my vote just as all APC candidates in my constituency.unfortunately,I found it difficult to tune in to the buhari frequency though I sincerely hope he wins because this nation cannot endure 4 more years of the fedora wearing buffoon.
You have good intentions but you sound a little naive. How can you hope to stop PDP by voting for someone that can't possibly win? Why not support the opposition? At this point anything other than PDP is worth trying, unless we want to deceive ourselves, the election is between PDP and APC, one represents the same mediocre governance since 1999 and the other a slim hope for change.

GEJ WILL ALWAYS BEAT

ASK BAKERE ABI NA KPEKERE grin

we all know where this mind game is going, using Christians to divide GEJ = biggest joke of 2014/2015.

always remember. 22 states (including APGA) supports President Goodluck

apc has 14 states, including 3 under SOE (state of emergence) the rest will always stand with Jonathan Rivers, KANO, IMO, EDO, Lagos (majority of valid voters are IGBO)

now tell me. HOW WILL BUHARI WIN grin

Please note, Igbo can always separate church and their choices grin yes i know apc has bought nairaland or senu adding likes bot, that will never change anything. remember what happened during George Bush second term election? 90% voted him out on MEDIA But Human like me Voted him in on election day

hahahahahaahah[/size]
Typing in huge bold fonts, signs of inadequacy, attention seeker(Perhaps deprived of attention as a child). Next, religious undertone in your post shows you are indeed myopic. Furthermore, your tribalistic references are highly inaccurate(Igbos does not represent the majority of voters in Lagos, I dare you to come up with proof of such!). Finally based on my analysis I suggest you seek counseling as you suffer from a condition called INSANITY. Unfortunately many Nigerians suffers from this tragic condition, as the white men would say insanity is the definition of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Voting PDP since 1999 and expecting your lives to be better is just plain stupid!

shocked shocked :oLike seriously? where did you get this info? you mean about 8 out of every ten Nigerians live below the poverty line
You better believe it! The poverty guideline is based on living on less than $2 a day, that is about $300 to $400 naira a day. We have about 170 million people in Nigeria, a workforce of about 20 million, which leaves room for most of the population to be dependents. Poverty is real, back when I was in school I lived on less than 200 naira a day so it is very possible!
Family › Re: Nairalander's Boyfriend Wants Her To Keep Washing His Clothes. Please Advice by abbey621(m): 3:42pm On Dec 17, 2014
Wonders shall never end! You can't wash abi? When a guy treats his girlfriend as a wife this is what happens. It is customary in African traditions that the woman cater to all the man's needs as long as the man does his part too. Forget about not being married yet, you did not complain when you spent the night or started living with him. You did not complain about cooking or collecting gifts or him paying some or all of your bills, so please chillax! Any girl that does not want to be treated as a wife while in a girlfriend status should stop putting herself in situations, you can't eat your cake and have it.

Family › Re: Which Should Come First Between Career & Marriage In A Family? by abbey621(m): 3:27pm On Dec 15, 2014
Part of being an adult is learning how to balance all things to work for the greater good. Married people must learn to balance their marriage and career. One must not affect the other, in a typical Nigerian society, the man is the workhorse so naturally he should be more career minded and the woman the home builder, she would be more concerned about the welfare of her marriage but when the situation is reversed, men must learn to be understanding cos at the end of the day all that matters is survival, if my child or children don't have food to eat and their mother is the only person that can get some type of income then as a man I would support her career and try to understand.
Romance › Re: You Are Worthy! 7 Things You Should Never Tolerate In A Relationship/ Marriage by abbey621(m): 5:03pm On Dec 14, 2014
I see a lot of topics on nairaland with good intentions but bad delivery. This is one of them, I don't know why people still believe that relationships/marital problems can be solved using a one shoe fits all approach. What works for peter might not work for paul. 95% of all relationships are flawed with one or more of the items listed and yet when you ask the couples, they would not trade their relationship for anything in the world. With my little understanding of this phenomenon called love, I have come to realize that it is unpredictable. If your heart is not capable of understanding, forgiveness and tolerance then you will remain bitter, alone and miserable in life. Many of the Whites would have us believe that love is a fairy tale but in reality love is what you make of it, can you withstand the rainy days? Can you work through the difficulties in order to enjoy the promise of a better tomorrow? If you leave your partner due to a mistake, who is to say the next object of your affection won't make the same mistakes?
Family › Re: View Point: Feminism Threatens Marriage And Family Values. by abbey621(m): 7:37pm On Dec 12, 2014
Feminism is what happens when men have misplaced priorities and women refusing to stay bound by their God given role. Let's all just chill and simplify this issue. Christians , Muslims and Others agree that the man came first before woman but being created first does not make you superior. What makes you superior is your self-worth, your integrity and the way others value you. Society in itself placed a huge burden on man, real men are expected to work hard, build a house, marry a wife, take care of his parents and siblings. A real woman is only as valuable as the type of man she associates with, is only as valuable as the happiness in her family. Now now let's be careful! It's okay for women to have careers, to be in leadership roles and etc, but when they neglect their God given role which basically is to support the man in raising a family and being a responsible asset to the society, when this role is neglected then chaos is unleasheed. Greed replaces love, contempt substitutes affection and so on. Feminism was created not to empower women but to devalue the worth of men, it is a lie put out there to deceive women, it promises independence, authority and power but at the end of it all, the woman is left unhappy, frustrated and alone(E.g Divorced, Lesbianism or Insane). Cos at the end of the day, all a woman wants is to be loved, respected and happy, all of which cannot come without having a responsible man in her life
Romance › Re: Annoying Traits Peculiar To Naija Girls - concerned Nairalander by abbey621(m): 3:31pm On Dec 12, 2014
Can you honestly blame Nigerian women? No I don't think so, they have been spoiled by the society, brainwashed by the media and lost in their own paradise. The real blame is on men, men who encourage such negative behaviors. We keep making women feel like they must depend on us, from recharge cards to monthly allowance, we move from boyfriends to ATM/Fatherly role. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong in spending on your woman once in a while, no there's nothing wrong with it; what's wrong is when it becomes a way of life, when a woman turns into a liability instead of an asset, when she sees herself as a participant instead of a contributor. Before I used to think women were the weaker sex, till I got to this country and saw how women run things, how they can do and undo when given the opportunity. Nigerian women can only be assets when Nigerian men stop acting like mumu.

Yes its gud to start from somewhere but pls dnt call a fresh graduate a liability. Maybe less attractive to most companies due to training cost and all ,but pls dem no be liability.
Not every company or job is a gud starting point. Some jobs take all ur time, pay u peanuts, give u depression and will occupy ur whole life to a point whr u cant go for other interviews.

I read somwhr on dis forum dt a graduate's job includes flushing oga's poo all in the name of starting from somewhere.

'Starting from somewhere' is relative
You talk this way because you don't own a company or run a business. In business, it's all about the bottom line. A fresh graduate is perceived as a liability always, it is up to the company to decide if they are willing to mold that liability into an asset. This starts with training, motivation and empowerment. Sure there are jobs out there that a graduate should not consider doing but the example the op gave was still very much manageable. Just because you start from the bottom does not mean you have to stay there. We are what we make of ourselves!
Family › Re: Why Do Men And Women In Diaspora Come To Naija To Marry by abbey621(m): 8:09pm On Dec 09, 2014
Speaking strictly from experience, American girls(Most) are not humble, they are deceived by what they see on the television and always have a sense of entitlement. It is not their fault tho, America is a country that favors women more than men, in fact I dare say, if you are a man and also happens to be black then the odds are heavily favored against you. From the few Nigerian American women that I've dated here, I realized 90% of them can't measure up to an average 9ja girl back home, I can still remember from my university days, my GF would cook for me and my friends, support me when I was financially down and still respect my opinion; I miss that kind of devotion, that is why most of us Nigerian guys do the unthinkable, come back home, marry and bring the wife over here to start a family. The sad truth about this experiment is that it could backfire easily, she could get here and turn into a creature much worse than the females here, I've seen many examples to know it's reality. America is poisonous, from homosexuality to violence, only God can direct one into making the right choice!

You are right! But it is difficult to get experience because there are very few jobs in Nigeria.
There are many jobs in Nigeria but most people have high taste, they believe after struggling thru school, they deserve the best jobs. While this is true, a child must crawl before walking. Use what is available to get what is attainable, I see nothing wrong in managing a job with less pay if the job brings you valuable experience. The key here is to look at the bigger picture and not solely focus on the immediate situation.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Another Interview Gone Sour.......Wish I Never Went by abbey621(m): 3:48pm On Dec 09, 2014
My friend, let me lend you my 2 cents! The reason many graduates are jobless is because they keep waiting for the perfect opportunity, yet missing the chance to improve their resume while the search continues. As a fresh graduate you have no experience, no workforce training, you are basically a liability. As an HR manager I would be very reluctant to hire someone without experience when someone with a few years of experience competes for the same job. Try not to look at it from the monetary aspect, I know everybody wants to make money but there are systematic ways of doing things. My first ever job was at a grocery store, it was depressing and unfit for a graduate like me but in the long run it helped me learn valuable skills which propelled me into a wonderful career in another sector. Whenever I hear stories like people searching for a job for 1, 2 or even 3 years I just shake my head, opportunities are there you just have to work towards it.

It's one thing to criticize a song or a movie, it's another thing to suggest that the entertainers face criminal charges. Another thread filling people's mind with nonsense. I have yet to see a man capable of doing all the things on the list every day of his marriage, trust me such a man does not exist. Happiness, sadness, anger, jealousy, irritation and fear are just some of the emotions an average couple experience during the course of marriage, the key is to let the good outweigh the bad. I know I know, we all like to pretend as if this world is full of fairy tales but let's be real here, humans are not perfect, so when two people marry how then can we expect perfection??
Family › Re: What's So Special About Your Age That You Hide It? by abbey621(m): 2:16pm On Nov 22, 2014
Africans hide their age because it is one of the attributes they are judged on by their society. For men, they would like to be respected, with a young age and unfortunately little accomplishments it is hard to be looked up to. For women, they equate age with maturity, when looking for a partner, they believe the older the better. When it comes to their own age they believe younger the better hence they are very reluctant to expose their age without knowing the age of the opposite sex. All in all as a society we are still very primitive, average 18 to 24 year old still live with and depend on their parents for full support and sadly over 70% of them continue this dependency well into their thirties.
Education › Re: History: When Black Men Ruled The World by abbey621(m): 3:49pm On Nov 16, 2014
I must sympathize with you, your write up really makes sense but it was formed on an illusive premise. Firstly, there is a difference between Black, Africans, African Americans and colored people. When you ask African Americans to trace their history most of them discover that they have mixed bloods. Either their black grandmother was forcefully slept with by her white male master or their black grandfather eloped with a white woman, thus can you call such a race 'BLACK'? Furthermore, even the white race are not united. We have Jews, Native Americans, Irish and so much more, to unite them all is just a fallacy. The honest truth is that there can never be a completely unified race without considering individual personalities and influences. The plight which many African Americans face is completely different from the challenges of most Africans; just take a look at the societies in Nigeria and that of Sierra Leon and you'll see that a unified black race is nothing but an illusion. The best we can hope for is a unified country, free of corruption, enriched with kindness and patriotism.
