A lot of people just fill out their profiles and go to sleep, but, for you to be noticed by recruiters on LinkedIn, you must engage other people's posts and post your own content as well.

LinkedIn is the major social networking platform for professionals.
Jobs/VacanciesWhat Exactly Are You Doing On Linkedin? by AbdulAkpan(op):
A lot of professionals are signed up on LinkedIn, that’s a fact. Many registered users on LinkedIn are getting jobs, connecting with more people, and using the platform to become better versions of their professional selves. Others? Not so much.

Whose fault is it that despite the platform being one of the major social networking platforms in the world, many professionals are still not getting jobs or having useful conversations on LinkedIn? Whose fault is it that a lot of people on the platform are still looking for better jobs and getting no meaningful notifications?

We hate to point this out, but what exactly are you doing on LinkedIn? Are you taking advantage of the social networking platform to sell yourself, brand, and your abilities to the billions of people there? Are you really doing that? Then why are you still where you were before joining the platform?

At Lingo Africa, the foremost human capital development platform in Nigeria, we have discovered that as a LinkedIn user, you cannot afford to just fill in your profile details and go to sleep. You are expected to sell yourself and interact with everyone as much as possible. Fill your profile to star level, connect with people, leave reasonable comments on other people’s posts on your timeline, congratulate your connections when they graduate, get a job, start a business/brand, etc.

All these actions, will help you connect with more people. Also, you should never fail to create content that relates with your industry in area of expertise. You do not have to wait until you become a professor or a Doctorate degree holder, before you start sharing content.

As long as you work within an industry and you have some experience, share your content. Do not rely so much on likes. Be consistent with posting your content. This keeps you top of mind with your connections, Anytime that they want something in your industry, they will reach out to you. You could even get job offers from your posts alone.

A lot of people have become thought leaders in their industry due to the content they share on LinkedIn, others have landed better jobs also. Please, when you are creating content, remember never to lie or be offensive towards others. Rather, be consistent and guided.
