I'd also like to see an emergency/customer care number for people to call if there's anything a user would like to sort out whatever problems they may be encountering while surfing here!

Another Change I'll like to see here on Nairaland is with the Search function. It's hard to locate threads from the archives as the present search function is a failure in that regard.

yamakuza: no need to call him names. he deserves some respect.

your thread is indeed a photocopy of many others.

i'm however uncertain if a photocopy is exactly the same as an original. it appears not.
Funny enough I never knew there was a thread like this before now, I just happened to have reasoned this on my own because I'm very active on other social media platforms and I felt nairaland was lacking some attractive features, so this is an original thread even though there's a similar one already existing!

WebmastersChanges You'd Like To See On Nairaland by Abujafood(op): 9:38am On Jan 11, 2013
Hi webmasters,

I'd like us to come up with a few suggestions that Seun should consider to make Nairaland more user friendly and attractive.

Here are my suggestions:

1. Use of Unlike botton. Since there is a like button how about an unlike button to balance the act?

2. An avatar attached to each user. Just like on twitter and facebook I personally think it would be cool if every user had an avatar to his username.

3. Signing in with facebook or twitter. I think it would be nice if peeps could just sign in with their facebook and twitter accounts directly.

4. A more detailed and personal member profile. For instance on facebook it's possible to know one's occupation, Educational background, interests and so on.

I think these features would make nairaland more useful and friendly to end users. What do you guys think?

TravelHow To Spot A Nigerian Abroad by Abujafood(op): 1:12pm On Jan 10, 2013
Nigerians are easy to identify among other Africans and for good reasons too. One in five Africans is a Nigerian, crowning Nigeria as the giant of Africa due to sheer numbers. Although not all Nigerians are as clueless and stick out in a crowd like the popular Nollywood character 'Osuofia in London', we do have a very distinct identity that is recognised around the world.

The way Nigerians dress, talk and relate with each other is unique among fellow Africans and it’s easy to spot a Nigerian from a mile away. But what are those interesting characteristics that truly identifies a Nigerian?

Accent

Clearly one of the most identifiable signs that you’re dealing with a Nigerian is in their speech. Nigerians have a unique way of pronouncing words. It is usualy quite staccato with 'th' pronounced as 't' to name a few idiosyncrasies.

Loud Speech

Nigerians are notorious for raising their voices when talking. This might embarrass a first time visitor or someone not so familiar with this way of speaking. Simply put, if a Nigerian is shouting at you it does not necessarily mean they are angry with you.

Open and Friendly

Nigerians are usually very popular with large networks of friends and contacts. This may be why we thrive on Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Most Nigerians will not hesitate to share their food, home and belongings with you and they are quick to help out if you are in need. There's no need to be alarmed by the Nigerians instant familiarity, it's just the way they work. It's not okay to just greet a Nigerian, you have to ask them about their family, work, health and so on. But if you're not comfortable taking the lead, they'll gladly do so first.

Extravagant Extroverts

"Too much" is not a concept Nigerians are familiar with when it comes to spending their wealth to look, feel and live good. The average Nigerians loves to be the center of attention and is only too keen to tell you about the latest this or that he has in his possession. The bigger the better.

Slangs

Apart from America no other country in the world has more slangs than Nigerians and that’s because slangs form a very important part of communication among Nigerians. This short hand form of speech, sometimes known as 'pidgeon' or 'broken' english forms a large part of how Nigerians relate with each other, regardless of class or tribe. For instance “How far” meaning "how are you?", “Jonzing” a shorthand for being tricked and “no lele” for no problem are just some popular phrases Nigerians use on a daily basis.

Nigerian Music

Nigerians love their music, parties and any form of entertainment that involves music, dancing and a large gathering of people. Tuface Idibia, PSquare, Davido, D'Banj and MI are just a few musicians you'll find on a Nigerian playlist.

FoodTop Nigerian Foods You Must Know by Abujafood(op):
The fact that Nigerians whether at home or abroad are passionate about their food is undeniable. Nigerian dishes are as numerous and varied as the different tribes, cultures and religions you will find in the country. Below we list 10 Nigerian food staples that are among some of the nations favourites. Feel free to agree, disagree or simply salivate.

Pounded Yam

Pounded Yam is one of Nigeria's most popular dishes that can be served with a variety of soups like Egusi, Ogbono and Okara soup. Yam, which is widely available is boiled and pounded into a smooth mash. You’ll most likely find people eating pounded yam with Egusi, Banga, Ogbono or some other meal.

Jollof Rice

Jollof Rice suprisingly is not authentic to Nigeria, it is actually popular across West Africa. It is easy and quick to make making it the go to recipe for most cooks. Jollof Rice like any other rice based meal in Nigeria is considered a prestigous meal and is served on special occassions and other social gatherings.

Akara/ Kosai

This Nigerian fried bean cake is served across Nigeria. In the South it is called Akara and in the North it is referred to as Kosai. You can find it being sold cheap on the road side or fried for special occassions. It's popularity is uncontested as you'll find Nigerians eating this snack for breakfast.

Tuwo Shinkafa

'Tuwo Shinkafa' translated from Hausa language means Mashed Rice. It is the go to side for many Nothern soups such as Miyan Kuka, Miyan Karkashi and even Okara soup in many Hausa-speaking communities. It is usually served daily for lunch or dinner.

Moin Moin

Moin Moin is a Nigerian steam bean pudding originating from South West Nigeria. Moin Moin can be made with corned beef, onions, egg, crayfish or sardine to give it that added flavour. It can be served alone as a snack or with other Nigerian dishes.

Pepper Soup

Nigerian pepper soup is among the nations favourite dishes due to its intensely spicy flavour and the variety of meat, fish or chicken that can be cooked with it. The soup broth is rich with aromatic spices, pepper, ginger, garlic and onions to give it that unforgettable taste.

White Rice with Stew

This may just be the most widely eaten meal in Nigeria. There is no community in any major town or city where rice and stew is not served. The boiled white rice is dished with a tomato based stew with your choice of meat, chicken or fish. The taste of Stew varies from cook to cook but many will agree that tomato, onions, pepper and oil make the core of this delicious stew.

Nkwobi

Nkowbi is a popular Ibo delicacy prepared from spiced goat leg marinated in a richly flavoured sauce of Utazi leaves, palm oil, For people looking to have a nice outing, a meal you can take as the African equivalent of an appetizer try pepper soup or dessert then you’ll be looking at Nkwobi. You’ll likely find them well served at Igbo kitchens in Major Nigerian Cities.

Suya

Suya should be crowned a national dish. Although Suya is a simple dish of higly spiced and marinated barbacued meat, chicken or fish, the popularity of this Nigerian delicacy is truly un-rivaled. You can find it across Nigeria served in restaurants to street corners at a very affordable price. In Abuja, Yahuza Suya is a popular suya spot with the locals. It can be served with Masa or eaten alone.

Garri

For the common man in Nigeria, this is one of those Nigerian meals that isn’t exclusive to tribe, geography or religion. It’s very hard to come across a Nigerian who has never had this meal in one form or another. It can be served in a variety of ways; with milk, pounded until it becomes a soft mash to eat with local soups, or sprinkled on beans.

nxanadu: its childish to return the pics. u can trash it
It's not childish, why are you having the pix in the first place if not because you admire the person and want to always remember him/her. Suddenly you're out of love and the relationship went sour you're trying to forget the person anything that reminds you of that person should be returned if you really want to forget that person totally. Imagine when you get married and your husband/wife sees the pix how do you think they'll feel?

CareerProject Management Certification In Nigeria by Abujafood(op):
If you are in search of a Project Management Certification in Nigeria you have taken the first step towards career success, although you still need to find a reputable project management firm to shepherd you to your desired destination.

One of the realities on ground in Nigeria today is that many people are searching for scarce jobs or making do with the ones they have for lack of better opportunities. Even when jobs are available a large number of the unemployed are unable to secure job offers because in the words of a major industrialist “they are simply unemployable”.

But speaking more optimistically, the gap between being unemployed and eventually landing a job is significantly shortened when you have to your credit Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or become a Certified Associate in Project Management. When you consider the grim reality that over 40 million Nigerians are unemployed with more expected to join the statistic, the importance of this certification to give you an edge in the job market is undeniable.

Benefits of Project Management Certification in Nigeria

Having a project management certification in Nigeria is a huge advantage especially if you are a job seeker. To start with, employers in Nigeria are seriously searching for competent and highly proficient professionals and a project management certification simply means your chances of gaining a job is greatly enhanced.

Another benefit of project management certification is that it enhances your productivity in your chosen profession. So if you want to carve a niche within your industry as a thought leader or a proficient professional for instance how about adding PMP to your business card or as part of your official title to drive home your point?
