Facebook Likes Facebook added a special feature called likes to enable people connect and engage with businesses and brands. This feature has a marketing advantage in that businesses can send out updates about what they have to offer potential clients and also in turn offer consumers a chance to get back at them (Feedback) through comments! What likes can do for your business? 1. Handle customer complaints 2. Enquiries 3. Take orders 4. Product updates and more! Have you got a facebook page yet? When you do ensure that you get as many likes as possible! |
Hi Nairalanders, You may be surprised I'm asking this question because I want to achieve the opposite! How can I turn off a woman, so I can learn from my mistakes and not turn them off later? Funny isn't it? |
SniperInADiaper: In the daytime...I like this pix but a bit too elaborate! |
Hell No, I'll rather not watch TV at all than to just watch only NTA and AIT, I'll die of boredom! |

Dino Melaye's mentor on the run! Hope the Anti-corruption network has some reasonable excuse for this? |
The 4th Episode of the Social Media workshop Adopt a Tweep which took place on the 15th of December has come and gone but more importantly is what it stood for and accomplished. For newbies to Social Media Marketing it was an eye opener but for more savvy Abuja Social Media people it was an avenue to further empower and become stronger and better. The workshop met expectations with an interesting testimonial by Abuja based contemporary dance coach Emesiri Omofuoma whose Twitter handle @Kara2dance grew from less than 100 to over 600 followers in less than 30 days thanks to a little tutoring from the NewNaija Media whose promoters @blcompere and @ojaysays have established themselves firmly among aspiring Abuja based Social Media enthusiasts. Her moving story highlights what effective planning and skills can accomplish in relatively little time with expert guidance as she was able to turn a passion which was taking her no where for 2 years into a budding career that has given her a sense of direction and a head way which has landed her a job plus contacts for which she now does business with. Another highlight of the workshop was the 10 commandments of tweeting, a guide to help Twitter members appreciate the power of tweets. Ten effective tips which applied diligently is guaranteed to earn more following, mentions and reach via micro blogging. It was really an event worth attending and the lucky participants only have themselves and the organisers to thank for such a priviledge - the event was held at a 100% discounted rate of N0.00 View pictures of the event here; |

Below are our food and dinning recommendations for the week. Onugbu Korrect with Swallow This is one really ‘bitter’ soup that can be served with Eba, Semovita or Amala. It’s a dish you’ll find courtesy of the Maggi Cooking team from the Food expo 2012 in Abuja. Strawberry Surprise Smoothie This is a combination of Pineapple, Strawberry, Yogurt and ice a healthy combination which is also very tasty. At the Juice Place 2 in Wuse 2, you’ll find A Slice of Chocolate Cake Cupcake Cutie's chocolate cake is decadent, moist and is the perfect ending to any meal. Simply call to order. http://www.abujafood.com/food-matters/the-menu/1058-the-menu-onugbu-korrect-strawberry-surprise-and-chocolate-cake-.html https://www.abujafood.com/components/com_mtree/img/listings/m/311.jpg |

As a Nigerian I shouldn’t be writing or saying something as controversial as this especially since I live and work with Nigerians. But what is worth mentioning is worth mentioning as far as I’m concerned. A survey conducted some years ago about who the shame of Africa really was revealed that an overwhelming number of respondents mentioned Nigeria as the country with the most bad eggs in Africa and sad as this may sound, it’s absolutely true. That is not to say other Africans are saints just that we Nigerians lead the rest of Africa when it comes to breaking rules and misbehaving and here are my reasons; Eye Service and Yes Men Nigerians are very good at massaging the egos of their superiors/bosses to such an extent that you might even think they worship them. The average Nigerian ‘big man’ wants to be respected but doesn’t want to respect others. So he does things that will make him recognized as superior to others. For instance if he drives a certain kind of car, no one under him should drive something as expensive or even more expensive else they’ll be some real trouble for that ‘erring’ employee. This in turn makes subordinates fear their bosses and act like ‘eye servants’ and yes men doing what the boss likes only when he/she is around. Either way it’s not a good behaviour which we Nigerians should keep. VIP ‘Maltreatment’ How about VIPs who shut down the airspace because they want to board a particular flight or don’t want to struggle with “ordinary people”. Even on land sometimes when a VIP is traveling in or out of the state or country a sizeable chunk of the road is blocked to enable him/her pass through even if there’s an emergency like an ambulance with a very sick person hurrying to the hospital everyone must wait till this VIP passes through first. The most annoying part is if the VIP in question is a serious underperformer or an incompetent government official. Among all African countries Nigeria is one of the few countries where this behaviour is rampant. Pull Him Down Syndrome (PHD) There are envious people everywhere in the world but among Nigerians there’s one very annoying form of envy that’s common – the PHD kind of envy. Feeling angry with another person because he/she bought a car you may never be able to buy in your lifetime and hating him for that to the extent that you try to destroy his reputation or set him up for an offence he hasn’t committed is a common experience not a few people have had. I remember during my NYSC days when I discovered that local urchins would become hostile for no justifiable reasons it didn’t occur to me that their hatred was borne out of frustration and inferiority complex that their age mate seemed to be faring better than them. Glorifying Scams Nigeria is the Scam Capital of the world whether we like it or not. It has gotten so bad that email scam has now gotten a new name 419 or Nigerian email scam because of the frequency of the crimes. Although ‘419’ scams didn’t originate in Nigeria many of our brothers have taken it to another level that we now have even glorify scammers in our midst. Complain about Government It is very common for Nigerians to complain endlessly about government failing the people but very uncommon to find a Nigerian who’s law abiding and not willing to cut corners. The same person who accuses government officials of stealing without evidence to back his/her accusation is often times the one trying to induce government officials to help him/her cut corners to secure employment, admission or contracts in government. The same Nigerians that complain government isn’t doing enough to improve power supply will look away and not report people vandalizing transformers of other public electric infrastructure. This is my humble opinion about some of the things we as Nigerians do to ourselves, how we expect to have a country where things work when we reason and act this way beats me. |
Selling online via facebook Selling online via facebook is becoming less tedious for a number of savvy businesses using Social Media for their promotions! For instance we've received a number of enquiries from our facebook page from some of our fans who have engaged with us! We've found a way to actively engage an audience and have received enquiries what's left is to convert these engagement into sales and potential leads. Tip: Create engagement, conversion to leads and sales will likely follow! |
@londoner Sure but not daily, only when opportunity beckons! |
Abuja is an expensive City to live in. The cost of living is high and this is due mainly to the high cost of rent people have to pay for living space. Shops are not excluded as those in the heart of the city are very expensive and often beyond the reach of most residents who may be interested in owning or renting shops. If you’re looking for an Abuja shop to rent or buy, here are a few tips to guide you; Know your requirements What you hope to achieve with your business is entirely up to you. You know what your business is all about and who you cater to. You’ll obviously need to care about the location, size of the shop and how much you’ll have to pay as rent and so on but your requirements will make the search for a suitable shop easier. So get your requirements clear first. Set your Budget Set a limit to your budget. How much are you truly willing to pay as maximum? In the city center in places like Wuse 2 and Maitama rent goes for N30,000 and above per square meter of shop space. That means to arrive at how much you’ll eventually pay as rent you need to know the size of the shop and the going rate per square meter. So let’s say you found a 30 square feet shop in Bloomsbury plaza in Wuse 2 and the going rate is N40’000 per square meter, you’ll pay N1.2 million per annum for that shop. That is besides other charges such as security deposit, commission and so on usually up to 25% of the rent. Contact a reliable Agent An experienced and reliable real estate agent has connections and information that could make your search for a shop easier. Once you’ve resolved the issue of what you’re willing to pay as rent and you have your requirements clear in your mind take the final step to contact an estate agent who will make your search for shop space so much easier. http://www.abujafood.com/news-digest/housing-and-real-estate/1056-handy-tips-buying-shop-space-in-abuja.html |

If you live in Abuja, you'll agree with me when I say the Sun has decided to punish us! The weather has been anything but wonderful! Enjoy this little piece Abuja is called the center of unity, centrally located geographically in Nigeria, it is the meeting point of all of Nigeria’s over 250 ethnic groups. It is also a beautiful city by Nigerian standards and is a very well developed metropolis. |
May their souls rest in peace! If only they knew they were walking into their own deaths, they'd have opted to travel by boat instead! |
