The best way not to break your New year resolutions is not to make any in the first place. But my suggestion for anyone who insists on making any he or she should be prepared to break their backs if they fail! #WORD# |
Set up a ministry of committee and panel affairs to manage all existing committees and panels. |
The reason they say so is because Fashola is employed as a staff member of Asiwaju Company of Nigeria (ACN) for which Tinubu is the all powerful Chairman and main shareholder! |
Hi Folks, In what ways have people tried to end your relationship? By people I mean outsiders including friends, siblings or anyone close enough to say or do something to end it and what was their reason? Please share! For me, My relationship of 4 years is gone personally I think friends of my ex and a particular cousin of hers had something to do with the break up eventually because she always got fired up for a fight with me whenever she listened to their advice. |
Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria located in the Federal Capital Territory and is divided into districts all of which fall under the administration of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) which is the equivalent of a local government you find in other states in Nigeria. Don’t mistake Abuja with FCT which is the entire region comprising Abuja and 5 other Municipal Areas namely Gwagwalada, Abaji, Kuje, Bwari and Kwali. History Abuja officially became the capital city of Nigeria on 12th December 1991 when the Federal Government moved the administrative capital from Lagos to Abuja. Prior to that as far back as 1976 a military decree was promulgated to establish the FCT by the regime of Murtala Muhammed. Economy There are very few factories mostly involved in Agro-allied processing and small scale manufacturing. Most of the factories are food related such as bakeries, confectioneries and plastic making companies. There are a lot of construction companies in Abuja who work with the Federal government in developing infrastructure and properties. Most businesses in Abuja are small and medium scale businesses which render retail and trading services to residents. Hotels and hospitality services are very common also but Abuja is still to a large extent a ‘civil service’ city with the government services being the mainstay. Districts Based on the Abuja master plan, the city is divided into three main segments based on phases of development. The phase 1 which is the main part of the city consists; Asokoro, Maitama, Wuse, Garki, Guzape and Central Area. In all there are at least 38 main districts in Abuja city and many satellite towns and settlements such as Kubwa, Nyanya, Lugbe, Mpape and Dei-Dei to mention a few. Land Marks Some easily recognizable landmarks of the city include; Abuja City gate, University of Abuja, Aso Rock, Gurara Falls, Apo hills, the National Assembly complex, Millennium Park and Banex Plaza to mention a few. There are countless more to know. Geography The geography of Abuja like many north central towns and cities is a mix of hilly and level ground. There are a number of hills and rocks around the city especially in Jahi, Maitama, Asokoro, Wuye and Apo while others have slopy land surfaces such as Gwarinpa and Mpape to mention a few. Weather The weather of Abuja is often a source of distress for people from cooler climes as the weather is hot especially during the dry season starting from December when temperatures could be as high as 35 degrees Celsius and could continue till April when the rainy season sets in. http://www.abujafood.com/news-digest/bite/1067-abuja-city-an-overview-of-nigerias-capital.html |

https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3251/2950800305_57199329cc.jpg?v=0 Jabi is a residential district that provides a mixuture of homes for high to middle income earners and is also a commercial meeting point in Abuja. It is a town you’ll find nestled between Utako and Life Camp after driving from Berger towards the airport road or it can be described as close to Kado district along the busy highway connecting Gwarinpa with Central Area. The quieter parts of Jabi District are where you’ll find impressive mansions, home to some of Abuja’s young yet comfotably rich. Here the roads are well tarred with buildings along both sides of the roads with some trees neatly arranged along the winding driveways. At the other end of Jabi there is a less serene environment. Heavy traffic and constant commercial activities make this area a notorious breeding ground for motor touts and tricycle riders who often show little regard for other road users. Hawkers, artisans, commercial bus operators and a large number of commuters are usual sights you’ll find around this surburb. Land Marks Jabi Garage/Park is the largest interstate bus park in Abuja where you can find a vehicle going to any part of Nigeria from Abuja. This is the major attraction for people who come to this district. Another popular Landmark is the Jabi Market which like the park is very rowdy and a major commercial point. Another landmark is Chidda Hotel and the AP filling station which is easily recognized by any Abuja Taxi driver you ask. Social Life Apart from commercial activities which usually happen till late in the evening, Jabi is a sleepy town. Most residents who want to enjoy social life have to leave the district to head to more vibrant parts of town such as Wuse 2, Garki and Maitama. The Markets near by offer an affordable option for residents to Utako and Wuse Markets which are slightly more expensive. There are very few parks, eateries and hotels in this district. Jabi Trivia: TheThisday Abuja Bomb blast of April 2012 happened in Jabi along the busy Jabi Airport road. http://www.abujafood.com/news-digest/abuja-places/1062-abujas-jabi-district.html |
Yayy! I won in Events segment! Thanks Nairalanders what's my Prize please? |
https://www.business-travel-nigeria.com/images/One_thousand_naira.jpg The operating environment for businesses in Nigeria has been very challenging but inspite of the numerous problems including security issues, inadequate power supply among other factors there are still a few businesses that stand out for those wishing to branch out into the private sector. If you have capital and happen to be contemplating what businesses to invest in 2013, here are 5 businesses to watch. Real Estate & Property Development The Federal Government is making concerted efforts to protect the Abuja Master plan and there have been recent massive investments made in developing 10 new districts in Abuja. This implies that more demolitions will take place and slums will give way to more affordable housing for low income earners. Demand for home ownership and rent rates are likely to rise as more slums are demolished. Hotel and Hospitality A recent industry report indicates that since 2007 there has been an increase in number of business travelers to Nigeria. This has led to increased demand for temporary lodgings such as Hotels and serviced apartments. The demand for quality, affordable and well located hotels are likely to rise and more foreign direct investment is expected to be made into the economy attracting more expatriates, visitors and Nigerians from the Diaspora. Car Dealership Despite the massive levels of unemployment and poverty in the country, Nigeria is Africa’s largest consumer of automobiles. There are strong indications that big businesses and government will order for more cars in 2013 than they did in 2012. PR and Entertainment Nigerian businesses and brands realize they can promote themselves leveraging on the popularity of Nigerian celebrities. These artists and celebrities are expected to earn a lot more in 2013 than 2012 from endorsements and sponsorship deals as Nigerians look to local rather than international role models and trend setters. Many companies are expected to key in on this easy marketing tool to spread the word about their brands in Nigeria and also maximize income. Agriculture Over $2 billion dollars entered the Nigerian Agricultural sector in 2012 mostly in arable agriculture. Many small businesses are going to benefit from Agric loans and grants from the Federal government in addition to massive foreign investments expected in this sector this means more raw materials processing and production of agro based products. http://www.abujafood.com/news-digest/abuja-business-advice/1065-top-5-businesses-to-watch-in-nigeria-2013.html |
