In military, South Africa is way behind Uganda.
Your stat in this forum is too shallow for someone who claims to be a pro in defence news and information details.

However, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion so it's okay. This comment is my opinion and any reply base on your opinion will be majestically discarded.
Your opinion is not important, facts are.

Patches Nigeria is the Giant of Africa : Economy, Population, sattelite Petroleum etc. Nigeria is the 4th strongest military in Africa... Why must people call Nigeria Geant of Africa is more on the economic aspect, talking military the biggest force in Africa is Egypt.. But only military doesnt make you Geant you need some of everything...
With a weaker currency, lower PCI, lower output per capita, behind in HDI, behind in infrastructure development than South Africa, Algeria and Egypt.

how about when france attack north africa??...isnt it better to push france far away from the borders of north africa than wait until france reach the borders of south africa??...

then south africa will surely loose against france, because the resources of the rest of africa would be open for them to use anyhow....

this is what happened in the colonial times...african tribes didnt go into colonization willfully...

thats why i was asking you that question for a while now....
are you ready to fight toghether with blacks and fight and kill people that look like you??...
I tried Googling the word "bantudra" to find its meaning and probably find its source of sickness so I could recommend a cure.

The F-7NI is an upgraded, Multi-role aircraft, we bought 15 of them, although a couple units have been lost to crashes. Which isn't unexpected when you realize the Nigerian Air Force is the most active Air Force south of the Sahara.
I wonder if you ever stand back and think about what you wrote and before you post? I will deliberately ignore everything else because you're trolling and concentrate on this part.

You somehow justify the crash of about 30% of your fighter fleet because your pilots "are most active" in SSA?

This is where derailments start because you pull things out of your behind and expect us to keep quiet. This is now disgusting.

guys can some one put the south african air defense systems ?? very difficult to find infos .

- from wiki : manpads Starstreak , autocannon 23 mm , Umkhonto surface to air version (still under devlepment) ,
That's pretty much it..

There's no long or medium range air defence. The threat assessment doesn't require we set up one. Our immediate neighbors don't pose any air threat.

However, if budgets were not cut in the 90s (and development projects abandoned) we would be having something else.

I can categorically tell you that France will beat the South Africans in their airspace, coast and home soil anytime, any day. France has the most sophisticated and best trained military in Europe.
Sea and air, but they'll have to work first... However on the ground it's would be something else. The distance from the coast to Pretoria would be a bloody graveyard. We would simply revive the South African Commando System overnight then that would add around over million militia (using their own small weapons) to stage an unconventional war.

An invading force would have to capture hundreds of towns and townships (to defeat hundreds of commando units) and as I said that would need a million soldiers or more with stunning logistics which no European country has.

Keep in mind that no human war has ever been staged on cities that are as big as the South African ones. There's no known doctrine on how to capture and control one.

are u sure?
last I checked 90% of their weapons are from European countries.

u can ask Argentina how useless their weapons became wen France choice to help GB with some weapon secret.
90 percent? Where are you getting the stats from?

Hundreds of IFVs and APCs we field are made locally, we're almost self sufficient on land forces. The sea and air platforms don't even equate for 40 percent of the total platforms and they're also supplemented by locally built strategic defence sub-systems.

We may not win a pound-to-pound war against France, Britain and Germany BUT they can't defeat and occupy us, they'll need millions of soldiers to do that.

But you can't afford it..stop passing off hypothetical figures as facts.. It's still wishful thinking.

So what's the number? 6? 10? 8?

I can tell you one thing, only 2 Gripen pilots can run Air Supremacy in your airspace.

.

The South-African military is a poorly funded, poorly equipped, poorly trained, poorly motivated military that cannot fulfil it's defence obligations. An air force that constantly has to beg SAA for pilots, unable to train any decent compliment of fighter pilots and cannot afford the munitions it claims to make.
.

where will u deploy dem I.e which country will host ur attack on Nigeria.
We are not interested in attacking Nigeria or any country, the list is to show you how much firepower can be projected to your airspace because you seem to think we lack the capabilities.

Without a host country, we can still project

- 5 Rooivalks + 1 EW Oryx (on the SAS Drakensburg and the Valour Class Frigates)
- 128 Umkhonto SAMs (Minimum)
- 32 ship-to-ship missiles (Minimum)
- 20 Air to Air Missiles (Minimum)

To any costal country including yours... Do you wish to know how much damage that could do?

hey man! we've had enough of your lies for today.please reserve some for tomorrow.

southie military having 40 or 60 helicopters is a joke
- 39 Operational Denel Orxy (from 46)
- 29 Operational Augusta AW109 (from 30)
- 11 Operational Rooivalks (from 12)
- 6 Operational BK117s
- 4 Super Lynx

89 operational helicopters in the SAAF.

We deployed 4 Gripens armed with AA missiles followed by a C130 with drop-bombs into Zambia in just hours.... You brag deploying an Alpha trainer that can't even target an track a Toyota Hulux.

We have the largest state budget in SSA, if parliament declared war outside South Africa, the National Treasury makes it available.

So you can't afford to train more pilots or can't keep more than 10 jets active because of costs?? Whichever one you like, just pick one
All 24 Gripens are active, it's called rotational flying. Yes our budget is constrained because...

- We operate and maintain 70+ helicopters
- 48 jet engines
- 4 Frigates
- 3 Submarines
- Hundreds of IFVs
- Thousands of APCs
- Engineers that are paid at market standard otherwise they leave.

I haven't replied all through but I am forced to say you just typed shiit.

Your air combat capabilities are limited to the Gripen multi-role fighter and the Rooivalk combat support helicopter although in insufficient number to allow regional deployments while maintaining national air security and current training commitments.
Nigerian Airforce has deployed to Gambia while fighting BHT.

We didn't deploy just Helos we deployed jets.
No dude, you deployed trainers that can't even do CAS, it's just a toy that drops free-fall bombs.

Let's do the math again. We can deploy

- 10 Gripens
- 10 Rooivalks
- 20 BAE Hawks

Now do you want me show how that rape.s the Nigerian airspace?

So it's not a fact that 10 Gripens can rap.e the Nigerian airspace with no response from the NAF? OK let's reduce the numbers and make it 2 Gripens, that should give your much experienced pilots something they can actually fight. :p

NAF pilots have better training and experience than SAAF pilots.

How do you have better training when you hard even fly? Or do your pilots train on the Ground?
Let me see, we have a bigger Airforce budget than you, we have more flying machines than you. We have 60+ flying helicopters, 48 operational jets... According to your logic they fly on their own... Again, that would be an amazing achievement.

South Africans are dull and they will never stop dreaming.

Despite all the training they could only produce 6 qualified gripen pilots to face such coalition. If you give them the opportunity they will still tell you how many hundred planes they will shoot down with those pilots even though they crash helicopters chasing common poachers.
6 Gripen pilots?

I guess we have invented a robot Gripen that flies on its own, it's a world's first.
