If it were an A4, may be i will think about it, A6 is way bigger and not comparable to 2000 Accord.

From the list below, its obviously a 2.7L Turbo and a 4x4. Fuel efficiency should not be in your mind at all. Mechanics will also give you too much trouble.

Accord is simple and straight forward that even generator mechanics can attempt to repair it with so much of a mess.

His tenure oversaw development in Kaduna state even though with a little bias to the North. At least he did more for Southern Kaduna than any Hausa/Fulani governor after him.

My issue issues with him is still the same almost any Hausa/Fulani leader, they will definitely betray you just like he did to southern Kaduna. He was only able to defeat APP's Hunkuyi in 2003 via a gentleman's agreement to support a southern Kaduna candidate in 2007.

The southern Kaduna candidate campaigned and the people were happy that Makarfi was fulfilling his promise only for Namadi Sambo to emerge from no where with no structure to capture the PDP ticket.

Imagine someone winning primaries without posters and just one billboard erected a day prior to primaries. Sambo was not known anywhere but Makarfi had no guts to do what was right and Isaiah Balat lost. That loss lead to the complete suppression of southern Kaduna people till today.

Makarfi is like the vomit i wont return to.

Make some research and you will be disappointed with most benz engine.

Most Japanese engines produce more hp per cubic size than benz while achieving far more fuel efficiency.

The mere fact that they carry the same HP isnt the sole determinant of how fast the car will be in a race. HP is a part of it-yes, but there are other factors that determine how fast a car will go e.g acceleration, body weight, stability (most of these MBs are either rear wheel drive or 4matics which gives them better stability and control while the honda is just FWD), transmission (the MBs are mostly 7speed and now even 8speed while the hondas are 5 or 6 speed), top speed too matters, turbo chargers/superchargers (which the honda doesnt even have) e.t.c so dont be surprised that c300 will still outshine the honda 3.5L engine.

Bare in mind that the benz usually comes with turbo chargers, some carry double plugs per cylinder and they are 7speed..pls explain how your honda accord can rival a beast like that?

If u want to compare a honda accord v6, u can do it with toyota camry XLE, lexus IS 300, volkwagen Jetta/Passat, or a Nissan Maxima..

But pls not a benz or BMW or Audi

All these cars belong to their respective categories.
Honda City carries 2 plugs per cylinder for is small 1.4L engine. Does that mean its more powerful than a Benz with one plug per cylinder?

Mind you, only the Kompressor or AMG models carry turbo and Supercharger resp.

Even when these new notes are kept for parties, they would still find their way into the economy because the keepers would eventually spend it. The truth is that CBN is not releasing new N100 notes into the circulation but I don't know the reason for its action

Na lie go kill you brother. As at today, not all naira notes have Arabic inscription on them. Even when there were Arabic inscriptions on our Naira notes, the pronunciation was in Hausa language (like naira goma) and it was for those northern Muslims who only went to Arabic schools.
Dont confuse the Hausa you see on N50, N20, N10 and N5 for Arabic. There is also Yoruba and Igbo, are they all pronunciations of Arabic?

Naira Hamsin is Fifty Naira in Hausa
Naira Iri Ise is Fifty Naira in Yoruba
Aadota Naira is Fifty Naira in Igbo

If it were Arabic, it would read
Naira khamsun for fifty Naira

I only agree with you that not all Naira notes have arabic. All polymer notes have 3 major languages kf Nigeria while the other notes have Arabic except tge N100

angry You Christians think you're wise. GEJ stylishly removed the Islamic inscription on the 100 naira note and you people expect the buhari administration to keep printing that infidel money at the detriment of we Muslims. It will never happen. Keep spending those rag notes till 100 naira goes to oblivion. Then we can reprint the old note with Islamic inscription
I hold a similar opinion but not exactly the way you put it.

When the new N100 was released, alot of Muslims protested for the missing Arabic inscription on the previous one. I have seen Muslims publicly rejecting the note giving to them as change for larger bills. Back then, i thought the new note was never going to be accepted.

From the recent scarcity of the note and the fact that that note has not being produced since that 1st production, it could be that there is a conspiracy to strangle the note out.

I was there during the construction of the East-West road. But not disagreeing with some of your other points which are similar to the submission I made earlier on the matter.
Looks can be deceiving. I am very sure that they will not be dredging river sand and applying for sub base. The key is 1st and foremost the particle size distribution, this will show if the soil is cohesive or not. Then other test will confirm the suitability.

This is why i have always maintained every contributor is important on this thread. That is the only way we can have contrary views & learn.
Thanks for sharing your findings, so many renowned engineers in this thread have always opined that laterite is a no go area for filling in water logged areas, i just hope they will come out to counter this your position so we can learn. But i still have my reservations, because my little experience with laterite shows it doesn't go well with water. How to make it compact properly in a waterlogged area is what i still don't get.
The challenge with laterite is controlling its moisture content. So if you are filling land that is permanently flooded, then Laterite will never work since you cant control the water content before compaction

Barryton:
Are u suggesting laterite is more suitable for filling in waterlogged areas?
Exactly.

However, if not done properly, it would lead to a disaster where the sand would have been a better option.

That is why there is no cheaper substitute for the sub base material for road construction other than laterite. It is also the cause of most road failures in Nigeria and beyond when not done properly.

Hmmm, this is an example of the concern i raised earlier about myth or individual practices being adopted over time as industry standard process/best practice without technical justification, or like in this case scientific research.

Although this is argument is difficult to accept as it completely turns everything on its head, but who are we to belittle your body of work. I actually would love to read excerpts of the report if you don't mind sharing with me privately.

I understand geology in general so i get your point on porosity and permeability.

Just to be sure, which sand do you refer to as sharp and laterite in this case?
With regards to the question, sharp sand or just sand and laterite are very different in terms of their definition and their engineering properties. Laterite should not be referred to as sand but may be suitably called soil.

The major engineering difference is in the particle size distribution with laterite having a broad distribution or particle size from clay through silt to sand while sand is generally size distribution that is coarser than silt but finer than gravel. Difference between sand and sharp sand has to do with shape of the particle rather than size with the latter being more specific to the shape.

The second engineering difference is the chemical composition which is derived from rocks it was formed from. Laterite has majorly iron and aluminum while sand is silicon and calcium.

Every definition of laterite must contain the word reddish and clayey because of its particle size which contains more clay and silt than sand.

Remember, that I am not saying that you're wrong.
I know you disagree, these things are not always what they seem. It is like getting an online diagnosis for certain symptoms but nothing beats physical examination by an experienced Doctor.

Porosity is the reason sharp sand looks like it doesnt expand but infact it is most affected by water than laterite. I did permeability tests on laterite that made me sleep in the lab during my UG project. Like i said with the modification, you need to do proper compaction on the laterite and it beats sand any day any time.

Have you ever seen sand on road construction? In fact, if you meet a sand deposit on road construction you have to remove it same way you would with clay.

Think of it this way, sand allows water level to rise within it but properly compacted laterite stops water level.Water is the enemy here.

EgunMogaji:
That should be laterite.

The issue with laterite is that it expands and contracts with moisture.
Rubbiish:
Lol...It's laterite.
It expands when subjected to water, reason why it is bad for waterlogged areas.
By my knowledge, it is sharp sand that is more susceptible to expand or contract with or without moisture. This is because of its large particle size. The bigger the particle size the more water each particle can absorb. This is the main reason rocks undergo weathering which eventually gives sharp sand and much later soil.

In laterite, plasticity index increases and decreases that causes the soil to flow or reach its liquid limit. This happens because water takes up the space between individual particles of the soil. This is the main reason clay soils crack when dry.

Modified

Talking about waterlogged areas, i know the practice in most places is using sharp sand. It is a very bad practice for several reasons. 3 of the most prominent reasons are
1. Porosity
2. Low shear strength
3. Low density

All these problems with sharp sand are eliminated with proper COMPACTION of laterite at its OPTIMUM WATER CONTENT making laterite the most suitable filling material. Note the words in bold, they are very important to achieving the maximum density which directly means high load bearing. At the long run, a proper filling with laterite will cost an arm and a leg. Most people plan would temporarily solve the problem but not permanently, hence sharp sand.

NYSC › Re: My NYSC Year Experiences In The Northern Nigeria by adanny01(m): 10:45am On Apr 12, 2018
tecnolad:
My service year experience can be related to the processes involved in the making of gold, which we all love - from fire to glitters.

Oh! Pardon my ill manners. My name is Aruleba Damilare Olamide, an ex Kebbi State corp member Batch B, 2016).

Just like every prospective corp member whose call up letter points to the Northern part of Nigeria, I was torn apart. "Kebbi State! Of all the states in Nigeria! How many ancestors did I offend!" I screamed, as I quickly searched out the Nigerian map on my Android smartphone. I had never been so serious reading the Nigerian map before.

Knowing that I would have to travel to the extreme of Nigeria made me wish I was dreaming, but reality was so adamant that it wouldn't give way for my dream wishes to come true.

Without wasting time, I ransacked the internet, looking for other "ill-fated" protective corp members like myself to be travel partners with. With luck on my side, I found many Whatsapp groups and I was quick to make friends. The mobilization countdown began.

Fast forwarded to the day I had to leave for camp, I woke up as early as 4am (as if I even slept. Lol). I was on an emotional merry-go-round that had happiness and sadness seating on different seats - Yay! I'm going to camp! - at Kebbi state? Oh no!

Funny enough, I never got on the same bus with those friends I made from Whatsapp; I found other PCMs on the bus I was and we all told our sad stories.

The journey to Kebbi was so far that if not that I saw sand everywhere, I'd have asked the driver if he was driving us to heaven. We arrived at Niger State and I checked my map with a smile on my face. "Kebbi is next," I said loudly. I never knew what the miles ahead looked like.

My parents called me three times (with three hours between each time) and I replied their "where are you?" questions with "Niger State." At this point, I thought to sleep, but what I saw next put my sleeping faculty on caffeine. I saw a camel! I only saw them in books and on TV - I was so happy to see a live camel that I totally forgot that I couldn't feel my butts.

If Jackie Chan was on that vehicle, he'd be glad to have met a die-hard fan; I had practised all the styles he used in the drunken master because my butt and legs were numb.

After driving for hours, we arrived at Koko Besse, where we took another car to Dankingari. After about an hour now driving, we got the NYSC camp. Guys, this camp was so beautiful that I didn't think about all the travel stress I went through.

The three weeks I spent in the camp came and passed quicker than I thought and I had to go to my PPA. I was posted to Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

And the real struggle began...

I had a rough beginning, trying to blend with a totally different culture - the language; dos and don'ts; food ( After eating rice in Kebbi, it was like my anus lost its "hold" button - for three days, I visited the toilet more than I blinked). Did I tell you I drank more than 10 satchets of water everyday without peeing? It was hell.

Soon enough, things changed, gradually. Before I could say "Jack Robinson," I feel in love with that way of life that once disgusted me. Serving in the North soon became something I was proud to tell people about.

I was able to know that Hausas are hard working people - an average Hausa man has entrepreneurship tattooed on his mind. I enjoyed discussing with them because although most didn't go to school, they have a sound business mind.

Never judge a Hausa man by his looks, I was jaw-dropped when a 24-looking Hausa guy walked to me to help him check his balance on an ATM. That afternoon, I had just returned from my PPA and I was zombified and so hungry that my economics textbook looked like bread to me, so I had to use the ATM.

After waiting for a period of time that seemed like forever to me, with this guy in his torn clothes and slippers branded with "channel O's" almost having to read a "How to operate an ATM for Dummies" manual before he could use the machine.

Finally, he gave up, turning to me for help. "Mai gida, balance" was all he said to me, which I clearly understood. Without wasting time, I asked for his pin and I clicked on the "check balance" option. What I saw almost made me exclaim. He had 1,546,000 (not made up) in his account . It was like I received an OTA respect update for him, because I had just 10,000 naira in my account, but I looked like I could buy him.

**back to the story*

I attended RCCF and NCCF and these fellowship put my music life on steroids. Just like myself, I met music thespians in both fellowships and this exposed me to a whole new level of cool, musically.

I soon made a Hausa friend who had the passion to learn the English Language, and since I'd love to learn the Hausa language too, we brought the barter system back to life. This brought me more fun, because to some extent, I could understand it when Hausas communicated.

Things are so cheap that at times, I spent only hundred naira to prepare stew. Oh! About stew, I was taught to cook by some other female Corp members who didn't want me to end my life as a junkie. I was posted along side 9 ladies to my lodge, and they were wonderful to me. They thought me so many kitchen-related stuff.

Kebbi State was more than I had imagined; aside from the really hot weather that made me and every other corp member sleep outside at times (which we loved because we got to share stories), Kebbi was altogether awesome.

I never regretted serving in the North because it brought me many blessings. I had out-of-the-world experiences.

If you got posted to the North, don't feel bad. Seize every opportunity when you get there. Also, relate with the people. Some look like they are poor, but they are connected to the people in power. You never know what form that help you need may take.
About the bolded, my boss, a local contractor trying to get more contracts was introduced to a Hausa man who promised to get him connected.

He was asked to bring 20k so they could buy Honey for one oga at Aso villa. An appointment with the villa oga was booked and my boss took me along because he was not educated beyond a diploma and could barely express himself properly in English.

We were surprised that this Hausa man was known at the gate. I was stopped because the appointment didnt have my name. My boss came back bewildered and totatlly stunned. I asked what, he said "Guess what, i just met the president". He told me how his state governor and the minister of works were called and asked to give their friend a contract. He was shocked as the responses of the 2 prominent Nigerians responded to every request made by Aso villa on speaker phone right in front of the president.

The average Hausa man is connected to the heavens and you will not know. One good thing about them is that they almost always help even if you are not related.

Oga marriage is all about unity and love. there should be compromise in marriage. If she tries to persuade him it's not bad. They are partners, not master and slave.
See you talking of death for this kain thing, it's not that serious biko.
The man isn't a demon, he is very easy going he just needs to convinced in a logical way.
The main point is that a successful marriage is about 2 things, understanding and communication, both lead to compromise.

In this case, there is no understanding and probably no communication. This will lead to chaos.

Understanding leads to shifting grounds. She can ask her husband to give her a reason why he will not go for court marriage or tell her husband outrightly why she wants court marriage. This is called communication and this leads to understanding, then compromise sets in.

At the, she must not have her way if he still refuse. My advise is for her to politely communicate and understand his position without creating any rockus.
