kenomobola: Hi. If you prefer to spend a little less, have a slightly better battery, an average camera, microSD card support, and decent budget performance, then the Redmi 5 is it. However, if you need a much better camera, strong mid-range performance, shorter battery life, no microSD card support, future proof USB Type-C, and a more premium package, go for the Mi5.
Personally, I'll go for the Redmi 5 because it's more recent, and has expandable memory; I can live with the downsides.
Heavy Gaming, Good Camera with OIS - Mi5 Better battery backup, miscroSD card support - Redmi 5 Just the kind of analysis i needed. |

Gptech: Let me say it blunt, you are not teachable, you seem to know it all. If you read back your posts, you'll see you already made your choice. YOUR ABOVE COMMENT SAYS IT ALL. Yes i made a choice between Mi 5 and Redmi 5 since none of you made any constructive criticism. It is very clear i dont like a large phone. I checked all the Xiaomi phones i could find on Jumia and narrowed it to 2 based on spec preference and my budget. I asked for opinions, all i got was "go for Note 5 instead" like am a baby who has no choice but to drink his mother's breast milk at least for the first 6 months of his life. I am an adult treat me like one, i have my preferences. Your suggestions must be in line with my desires. Are you trying to teach me how to love a phone you love? How is telling me to buy note 5 instead amount to teaching. How can i buy a 158.5mm tall and 180g phone when i clearly stated i dont like such tall or such heavy phone? Are you teaching me my preferences. Abeg leave me joor before u start teaching me how to shyte in my toilet. You recommended something i politely told you no then you pick offence. |

fibonacci2526: Your money, your choice but sometimes you need to be flexible enough to listen to what other people have to say to make an informed decision. Your basing all your facts on gsmarena shows that you see them as the Lord concerning anything Android. Good luck. I came here asking you guys to criticize the my preference but you guys didnt. You said nothing other than asking my budget then suggesting Note 5 with nothing to support or criticize my choice until i confirmed my order then you guys started trolling me. How are you sure its just gsmarena i visited? I visited this thread, what advise did you tell me before i made the order? Have you used the phone before? Have you done a proper comparison? You want me to swallow your recommendation whole line and sinker. All i asked was look at Mi 5 and criticize. Have you done that? If you did, what in its specs is the reason i made a bad choice other than its a 2016 phone? Please do justice and lets be constructive. |

henry007: That's tragic.
SD820 + 3000mAh running apps optimized for 2018 processors Its also tragic that i asked for this kind of advice before i made the order but yours came only after i ordered. I made the same observation, however, my research on gsm arena shows that Mi5 has a 92h rating while redmi 5 with SD 450 + 3300mah is behind at 83h battery life on their endurance test. In fact, i was worried that it may not support OTG, i watched it on youtube supporting OTG. I doubted most of its features for being a 2016 phone, but a comment i read somewhere said "its an old phone but very decent in comparison to what is obtainable today." I did my research on the phone for almost a month and came here for conclusion on the day i planned to order. Xiaomi has promised Android 8.0 for it. The beta is already out. Please make your research and compare it to the Note 5 suggested here and tell me which wins. |

kenomobola: We're all learning. As some folks have kindly pointed out (@Gptech, @fibonnacci), the Chinese Redmi Note 5 is the one you should concern yourself with. Chinese Redmi Note 5 = Indian Redmi Note 5 pro. India got the Redmi note 5 pro, while China and the rest of the world got the Redmi note 5. Also, as @unite4real alluded to, this new 18:9 screen aspect ratio enables manufacturers to fit bigger screens into smaller frames. The 5.99" 18:9 Redmi note 5 (158.6 x 75.4 x 8.1 mm) is only slightly longer than the 5.5" 16:9 Redmi note 4 (151 x 76 x 8.5 mm). The note 5 is infact thinner, and not as wide as the note 4. Like i said before, i am not concerned about the note 5 or its variants especially because of their screen size, length, thickness and weight. I specifically asked about Mi5 and Redmi 5. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by adanny01(m): 2:14pm On Jul 25, 2018 |
unite4real: Most people make the mistake when they hear screen size and mistake it for the size of the glass on the screen.
The size of the glass area is usually given in dimension of Length, Breadth and width but when you hear screen size, it is actually the area of the screen that captures lights/images.
screen size is = Total glass area - Bezel area
In view of this lay man explanation, you can have a phone with screen size of 5.5 inch and physically bigger than a phone with screen size of 5.99.
If you are concerned about the physical size of the phone you want to buy, request for the dimension information and not screen size. I am sure i didnt mistake any thing.

fibonacci2526: It's a 18:9 display and I was referring to redmi note 5 and not redmi 5 plus. 18.9 is the display aspect ratio while what i wrote is the diagonal in inches. I didnt write the inches cos i expect most people of this thread to know. Redmi Note 5 is same phone as Redmi 5 Plus. It is the succeeding model of Note 4 but dumping the the note part of the phone.

Guys, i want to join the Xiaomi band after my horrific experience with Infinix Hot 3. I hate a phone that lags so i dont want anything mediatek, plus 2g ram is the new min.
My Jumia search narrowed it down to Redmi 5 vs Mi 5. They are not it the same league.
I like the Mi 5 better but for 3 things, 2016 phone, small size 5.15 screen and the unpopular usb c type. All phones i compared it to at same price range falls behind it.
Redmi 5 battery and camera is not up to expectation though price is affordable.
Please advice.
Modified.
Redmi 5 screen resolution is bad too

obekediamondfuto: OK sir, I still dey learn oh to be candid..... I refuse to claim knowledge when I understand how vast and broad that spectrum can be.
and if u(being the astute, erudite, ideal, perfect petrolhead/ car enthusiast) r afraid of a Benz cos of electrical issues then..... I don't know what to say again......
one question though..... the accord cars that come into Nigeria (toks) what kinda ball joints do they come with? knock offs or oem? just curious tho
let's start from there Dear Sir, On behalf of Honda Motors Inc, your inquiry has been received and is being processed by our Engineers. You will get a reply in 24hrs. Thank you for the interest in Honda Motors. Best regards, Adanny01. obekediamondfuto: my point t exactly, u know how to manage it.
when I try to drive this particular point home, a lot of peeps be making me feel like we don't live in the same planet.
to further butress this point, an anonymous poll should be carried out randomly in all states in Nigeria.
100 accord users and 500 other car users.
the question shud be: which brand experiences the K Leg more
u would be amazed that even those driving accords are very afraid of this sickness. they see it as malaria, that must come periodically.
maybe only in Lagos that the awareness is much that everyone is buying the oem....(same oem I used in my 03 accord v6 that started making noise after a few weeks in abakaliki). people driving other brands don't even reason ball joints sef. but Honda users..... hian, just stone their car when they are exiting a street, gas station, u turn etc and follow the guy on bike..... I can assure u that he is going to the mechanic workshop to change his ball joints.
it's the hype brother, no smoke without fire...... there is an atom of truth in every rumor You have you way of twisting opinions but mine is actually far from yours. Who is afraid of driving accords, you or me? Its obviously you. I wouldn't use 3 of them if i am afraid! In fact, i am more afraid of Benz for its electrical wahala. It is Benz that made me sleep on the road because of a simple ABS issue. It is far better that i replace 4 pairs of lower ball joints in a year (N2,500 a pair toks) to avoid a k leg than replace one set of Toyota shocks absorber (N80,000) in the same year. Who is wasting money? Every brand has its pro and cons. Mind you, i donot agree with the cons you think of Accord. Lastly, it is my opinion that any person who claims to be a car enthusiasts at the same time claims Accord has a k leg issue, is actually a novice. Meanwhile, your oem is a knock off. I bought my accord 5 yrs ago Naija used. 7 years total in Naija till today, neither the previous owner nor i have replaced any ball joints. I have traveled the length and breath of Naija but no pull out. All i have changed is tie rod and linkages. The day i buy your knock off, i will expect k leg. |

obekediamondfuto: yes its perfectly normal to have one pull per 1000 due to mismanagement but to have 50ready to pull cars out of 200 is above the standard and acceptable deviation.
I can assure u, anyone that saw that car must have been very shocked cos it's a Mercedes fcol.....
seeing a Mercedes do this is as rare as seeing an ant pee seeing a Honda perform the same stunt is as common as hearing a dog bark.
if I saw this I must come out of my car to ask the owner what happened!! but even if I see a perfectly running accord..... in heavy traffic, I'd wind down and ask the owner "hope u have spare ball joint" and he'd be like: "before nko"
lolz This is not the 1st Benz i have seen this way. Anyways, have been using Accords for about 20 years so far but no pull out. Ask me what i have been doing right. My dad had a pull out a long time ago, i know what happened and have avoided same mistake which has worked well for me. Basically, i never buy a new (Chinese knock offs) lower ball joint. I have seen it break, stripped threads or pull out few weeks after installing. |

Once I switch the car off and on the lights go away but after I drive for like 3 minutes it comes on again.
I don’t have functional ABS but The brakes still work fine and the handbrake is functional on both rear wheels as I jacked them up individually to check. The car is driving as it was before the bearings were changed but that light just keeps staying on permanently
I don’t know what the issue is. I scanned but nothing. I have no CEL The hand brake light switch could be bad or the adjustment is too much. |

donstan18: A normal man with working brain will relocate if his wife earns 750k when he's earning 150k.
But a wise man with so much wisdom will ask the following questions before deciding what to do.
>Who is my wife? >Is she dominant and self-centered? >Will she rub it to my face? >How comfortable am I with my financial level? >Is she disrespectful or understanding? >What are the possibilities that her attitude will change?
If you can give yourself answers to these questions, you'll be able to decide. Because it'll be a mistake to take such decision with a wrong woman.
But wait ooo..…Where are the wives earning 750k while there husbands earns 150k, Are they Nigerians? Or are they from Croatia? Too much assumptions in this country, The average submissive wife will turn disrespectful after a year of paying bills. This is a fact but not strictly true every time. I have worked on a number of jobs in Abuja, your site will be visited at every structural stage of the job, namely, at the foundation stage after the arrangement of your rebar before placement of concrete. At the decking/suspended slab stage after the completion of slab-beam reinforcement work before casting.
Abuja has the best developmental control unit in Nigeria and the quality work done is much better sue to this. A lot still needs to be done in this area to really sanitized the building construction industry Trust me, depending on the tactfulness the builder dishes out. This guy is good at manipulating people. He changed the site plan, changed the offsets, added more shops etc with no harassment whatsoever. This guy befriended a female staff in development control just for the purpose of getting through to them, she did everything for him while he spends less money putting them off his back. |

When you look at her social media accounts, you will always find something to cause you problems. You have 0 trust on her, and she has given 0 reasons to trust her. From your description of her, she is lousy. Sending her nude to a guy is seriously indecent exposure of herself that speaks volumes about her character. This relationship is bound to keep hurting. bixton: Let me open your submissions but sometimes the words we use are fambiguous.
A contractor can be any body but its rightly streamlined to be a business person offering services to make profit. You limited the work of a civil engineer to appear like he pushes paper.
The carpenter, iron bender, mason, electrician, are builders. The bolded are artisans. Even artisans are registered by COREN in their own category. Have you heard of CORBON (Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria), a building contractor should be a member. What i mean by builder is a person who studied a professional course that carries building as a core eg Building Technology. These set of people are trained building contractors not the type we have all over Nigeria. The construction industry in Nigeria is not regulated that is why we have every type of people claiming to be contractors. I once worked as a Civil engr in a property development company where the entire management had no single building related professional. I have a friend who is a so called contractor but is actually an electrical engineer. This guy built a plaza belonging to his brother in Abj recently. All he needs is a Civil engr who will sign an undertaking for the project and he can do anything he wishes while in the event of a collapse, he walks away blameless. |

Monday200: Hello Nairalanders. Plz pardon my errors. Moderators please help with advice from pple
I'm a 27 while my boyfriend is 34,we've only dated for 7 months and he proposed to me last week. But the problem is that we are 2 different people, what he want is different from what I want.
He is from a rich family that likes flashing things, he always tell me to use make up when I say make up it not just foundation and lipstick every time am going out which I don't like at all I prefer using powder and lipstick and I use to tell him that I don't know how to do make ups yet he said he will get me a make ups artist. I don't know how am going to cope with that. Anytime we are going to see his family member or friends, he will always want me to over dress like it's a wedding day.
He likes going party a lot and anytime he ask me I will make up some excuse not to go and I don't know how long I will continue giving him excuse cos am an indoor person i don't like going out at all I only go out whenever am an having important things, there was a time he discovered and accused me of been ashamed of him that why I hate going out with him and its not like that. He likes people prying into our privacy anytime we had a misunderstanding he will ask one of his friends to beg me on his behalf and I hate this.
He always want me to wear clothes that fit his standard like wearing heavy jewelries expensive one ,high heels,(he use to buy them for me cos his a rich dude ) he want a luxurious life while I only want a simple life. He can do anything to mk me look good and classy, he is always ready to spend for that.
My problem is do you think I can adapt to his lifestyle when we get married as I like being simple. Am scared. Let me tell you what he wants. Best of both worlds. He wants a modest, hardworking, committed, submissive etc kinda girl from a middle class background but should have the beautiful qualities of a high class girl who usually doesnt even know how to make the bed, cook or do simple chores. He wants to show you off to his class of friends but is afraid of not been embarrassed for loving a girl below his class who cannot dress well or make up. Sit him down and lecture him why he needs to 1st of all accept you the way you are. He also needs to know you will try your best to be the person he likes but if it doesnt work he needs to know it may never work. Its never easy for the rich class to act middle class or vise versa. He wants something in you, let him count his blessings and name them one by one. I married your kind of woman. She wants the simple modest things. My wife doesnt buy her own cloths not to talk of the children. We both have sisters, she relies on the sisters to dress appropriately. My sisters, her sisters, and myself buy cloths for the children but never my wife. In fact if we go shopping with her, it ends up a bad day since she complains either too expensive, too ugly etc. Some things are meant to be. You either find a way to tolerate it or walk away. |
