Education › Africans, Keep Your Culture And Your Culture Will Keep You— Reno Omokri by adefitim(op): 6:20pm On Aug 27, 2022
Unknown to many people, China was colonised. More known to many is the fact that India was also colonised. But they kept their language. They changed names of their towns back to original pre-colonial names. They kept their culture. Now, that culture is making them greater than their colonisers. Africa must learn from them

The truth is that those who abandon their CULTURE will eat leftovers like a VULTURE. Africans have abandoned their culture. And not only have we abandoned our cultures, we are proud of it. An African can travel to Dubai for a week and return with an American accent. Such is the miraculous power of the average African.

We must stop being proud of our English and French accents. As I said earlier, China and India were colonised, yet they resisted English. Today, Mandarin and Hindustan are Earth’s most popular languages.

The idea of a Black African knowing and speaking only English, French, Spanish, Portuguese or any other European language is not a function of intelligence, no matter how well he speaks it. It is a function of colonialism. Learn your native African language. Speak it. Teach it to your children. Bear your African name. Patiently teach it to your European friends. If they pretend not to be able to pronounce it, remind them that they can pronounce Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Do not go to Europe or America and change your African name to a Western name because someone told you it sounds weird. Correct them. Say ‘my name is exotic, not weird’. This same people can pronounce a Chinese name without vowels because China has money!

* Arnold Schwarzenegger
* Sokratis Papastathopoulos
* Saoirse Ronan
* Mia Wasikowska
* Zach Galifianakis
* Gina Lollobrigida
* Kepa Arrizabalaga
* César Azpilicueta
* Bastian Schweinsteiger
* Tomasz Kuszczak
* Wojciech Szczęsny

Those are the real hard to pronounce names. Your African name is not nearly as hard to pronounce as these names. If they pronounce them, they can pronounce yours. Keep it!

God bless late Patrick Ityohegh former DG of the NTA, who while schooling in the US refused pressures to change his surname. He would teach his White colleagues to pronounce ITYOHEGH as ; "eat your head" with d being silent. Be proud of your African name!

African governments must stop the mental enslavement of young Africans to feel inferior, starting from nursery school.:

* A is for Amala, Akpu, or Acha, not Apple‬
* Mungo Park did NOT discover the source of River Niger, an anonymous African did!‬
* Nigeria did not GAIN independence from England. Nigeria TOOK independence from Britain.
* They don’t need to learn about Humpty Dumpty. We have African many nursery rhymes about crafty tortoise, and brave lions.
‬
The extent of our brainwashing as a people is that many Africans view masquerades as evil, yet this same people love and cherish Santa Claus/Father Christmas.

African Masquerades are not tied to idol worship, as many of our people have been led to believe. Historically, African masquerades are linked to age-grade societies. The reason why women and children were often driven away when the masquerades are dressed is not because of juju. It is because the age-grade societies did not want the public to know which member is wearing the masquerade.

The rationale behind this is that the masquerade will often flog immoral persons in the community. If you know who is wearing the mask, you will know who to hold responsible later on. It is the same concept behind the hangman. The face of the person who hangs criminals is always masked.

A typical superstitious African who has never researched this will swear (we tend to be flippant), that masquerades are evil. But the truth is that age grades used them to entertain and teach morals in the society.

Meanwhile, both Santa Claus and Christmas are not Scriptural! There is nothing Christian about either Christmas or Father Christmas. Christmas used to be the celebration of pagan deity. The Catholic Church converted it to a holiday allegedly to celebrate Christ’s birth. The origin for both is in the Roman Catholic Church, not from Holy Scripture. None of Christ’s disciples celebrated Christmas. As a matter of fact, for the first 340 years of Christianity, there was nothing like Christmas or Santa Claus.

Take Nigeria as an example. Named by a Latin speaking White girlfriend of Frederick Lugard (we still annoyingly use Lord Lugard for that common mercenary. Yes, he was a mercenary. He killed Black people for money!). 106 years later, Nigeria still bears a name Flora Shaw claimed meant Niger Area. Niger is the Latin word for Black, from which N*gger comes from. In Flora Shaw’s mind, Nigeria could have meant N*gger Area!

The town of Port Harcourt in Nigeria is an example of our colonial stupidity. First of all, Lord Harcourt notoriously did not like Black people. But more importantly, he was a known, confirmed paedophile. Please research it. This is the man Port Harcourt is named after! ‬

Mumbai in India was renamed Bombay by the colonialists. After they kicked colonialists out, India changed the name back to Mumbai. They did this to many other Indian cities. Ghana used to be known as Slave Coast. They wisely rejected that for Ghana.

I once tweeted that the largest human-made Earth structure ever built was the ancient Benin Walls and moat. Believe it or not, Nigerians, and even Bini people accused me of lying. With perhaps the exception of Ethiopia, colonialism has messed with the Black man’s mind!

On the issue of colonialism and the Black man, let me end with this fact. At the current rate of dispersion, MOST of the languages spoken on the West African Coast will die out in 50 years or less. Without a language, a people have no taproot!

Cultural erosion is happening at the fastest rate in Africa. If I were to counsel African leaders, I would say start preserving your culture or start deserving your torture. One day at the UN, a young European will laugh at us as a culture-less people.

Africa is losing her culture, and it is affecting our youth. Look at the epidemic of rape we are having, for instance. It is because we have abandoned our culture. Premarital sex was not part of our culture. It was a taboo. But now we have rejected that culture. And so youths now have sex before marriage. The day they don’t see meat to eat, they will wrongly steal from the pot.

In his book, Arrow of God, Chinua Achebe said “unless the p*n*s dies young, it will surely eat bearded meat”. I urge our young men to read and understand Achebe. Rape is unAfrican. Be patient. You will eat bearded meat when you marry

Do not awaken your sexual urge before it is time. Apart from rape, premarital sex is destroying the moral fabric of African nations. The sheer number of abortions in Nigeria (more than a million annually) is a testament to this. One of the most dangerous places for an African child to be in is in the womb of its mother.

And it is not just abortion. Africa disproportionately suffers from paternity fraud, when compared to other continents. In Nigeria, the US Embassy now brings in armed guards when it reads out the results of DNA test of visa applicants who apply with their children. That is how alarming it has gotten.

We must return to our African values. Yes, there were some repugnant practices in our custom, such as the killing of twins, the osu caste system in Igboland, the disinheritance of female children. But shorn off those, our traditions can be a lighthouse for us.

The West also has its repugnant customs. It is repugnant to man, God and common sense for a man to marry a man or a woman to marry a woman, but they practice it in the West. It is legal. As a matter of fact, Pete Buttigieg, the gay mayor of South Bend, almost became the Democratic Presidential candidate. He is another man’s wife!

All societies have some repugnant aspect of their culture (only God is perfect). So we should not see our culture as lower than Western culture. Africans, keep your culture!

If Africa keeps her culture, our culture will also keep us.

Too many times, Africans allow Westerners to tell them they had no written culture, not true. We carved our history in wood and metal in such intricate detail that you can recall centuries after the carving. And unlike paper or papyrus, these carvings are more durable. In any case, the 1, 2, 3 you use today is not Western. It is Arabic. Other cultures contributed to our Modern Day civilisation, and our African culture is perhaps the foundation of all civilisations.

Politics › The Dangers Of Tinubu’s Wealth Without Enterprise—reno Omokri by adefitim(op): 5:46pm On Aug 23, 2022
First published in my column, #TheAlternative, in today’s ThisDay.

On this edition of #TheAlternative, I am going to X-ray a statement made by the minister of state for labour and productivity (more accurately unproductivity), Festus Keyamo, who also doubles (and majors) as spokesman for the Bola Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council.

In a recent interview with a budding media outlet, Mr. Keyamo said:

“Asiwaju Tinubu is a wealth creator. He’s an expert in wealth creation and what the country badly needs now is about wealth creation. If someone who turned around the fortune of Lagos and the revenue of Lagos. Some people said the debt of Lagos also went up. Yes of course, debt going up is an indication that you are now become credit worthy. With that heavy debt, no creditor is complaining.”

Well, let us interrogate his claims on their merit. Is Tinubu truly a wealth creator?

I have proved beyond all reasonable doubt that Bola Tinubu is a known drug Lord. That is a fact. It is backed up by documentary evidence. And what we know may just be the tip of the iceberg. Drug cartels are very secretive and destructive organisations. And their secrets are only known to them and intelligence agencies around the world.

And that is why Bola Tinubu is a security risk. His cartel members and foreign and domestic intelligence agencies will have compromising information on him. And that means that he would be vulnerable to them.

These organisations may have photos, documents, recordings, and other damaging information on Mr. Tinubu, which they can use to bend him to their designs. It is just too risky to have that type of character at the helm of our affairs.

A compromised President would be a puppet, a patsy, and a putty in the hand of blackmailers. No nation on Earth can afford such a number one citizen.

Even the United States, perhaps the most stable democracy on Earth, could not take that risk after the Watergate incident, because President Richard Nixon had become vulnerable.

One of the Watergate burglars demanded blackmail money of one million from Nixon, as now declassified transcripts of White House meetings reveal.

At the meeting, which occurred on March 21, 1973, at the White House, Nixon had said:

“On the money, if you need the money you could get that. You could get a million dollars. You could get it in cash. I know where it could be gotten. It is not easy, but it could be done. But the question is who the hell would handle it? Any ideas on that?"

12 hours after that meeting, E. Howard Hunt Jr. one of the Watergate conspirators, received $75,000 in cash. And it was that payment that made Nixon’s position untenable, because it was evidence of an attempt to obstruct justice by Nixon himself.

And that was a major reason why Nixon had to go. Because he had become vulnerable. If he could be blackmailed by a bunch of burglars, imagine what could be done by foreign intelligence agencies.

And what Tinubu is/was involved in is more sordid than Watergate.

And a similar scenario is playing out in Serbia, where President Aleksandar Vučić is embroiled in a major scandal, of which he is accused of taking decisions contrary to Serbia’s national interests because a foreign power is aware of a crime he committed and is using that to blackmail him.

And then again, it has now been exposed by declassified US cables that former Colombian President, Álvaro Uribe, had tied to drug cartels and they were able to blackmail him to take certain actions.

Nigeria does not need that right now. We have too many pressing challenges that present a clear and present threat to our national well being. We do not need to add to them the almost insurmountable issue of having a fatally flawed President who is tied to a White Heroin drug ring.

Such an individual could be manipulated into taking out unfavourable loans that make Nigeria independent in name only, or to appoint other similarly fatally flawed persons into sensitive national positions.

Already, around the world, when you as a Nigerian citizen bring out your green passport, you are stigmatised and given the ‘look’. You know what I mean. In long immigration lines, you are taken aside and treated as a suspect.

Now, close your eyes and imagine how much worse this will get if we elect a KNOWN DRUG LORD as our President! Nigerians ought to research what happened to the Colombian passport when it was believed that their then President had ties to drug cartels.

An army of sheep led by a lion is treated with respect. An army of lions led by a goat is treated with disdain and scorn. That is what will happen to Nigeria if we elect a KNOWN DRUG LORD as our President.

Our green passport would be red flagged at foreign airports! Whether you want to japa, or just travel for holidays, you, as a Nigerian citizen, will pay a price you can’t afford to pay if Bola Tinubu ever emerges as our President.

That Bola Tinubu is stinking rich is obvious. But what is not obvious is how he became so wealthy. What businesses does he have? He does not have a school. He does not own a hotel that he declared as his property. He denies ownership of Aphabeta, and the Lekki Concession Company. The Nation and TVC are barely breaking even. He is not featured on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s list of high profile importers. So where is his money coming from?

Tinubu cannot say emilokan and then go on to behave as if ko kan wa. How did he make his money? What are his businesses? The boast he made about making millions from Mobil has been exposed as a lie, because Mobil Oil Corporation (now known as ExxonMobil) told the IRS in court documents filed by the FBI in 1992 that Tinubu’s monthly salary was just $2400. And Tinubu resigned from Mobil in 1992, after his drug forfeiture plea bargain with the US Department of Justice, to contest election as the Senator representing Lagos West.

We know how much Tinubu gets as pension from the Lagos State Government. It cannot justify the lifestyle he is living. Records from the Corporate Affairs Commission do not show him to be a significant business owner. So, where did the money from the bullion vans emanate from?

Right there we have another obvious red flag. Being rich without a known source of income is one of the hallmarks of drug cartels. And we know for a fact that Bola Tinubu was a member of a white heroin drug cartel as of 1992. And if he cannot prove the source of his wealth then there is every reason to believe he never left that cartel!

We already have unknown gunmen. We do not need unknown wealthy men. If you run a search at the Corporate Affair Commission, you will have almost 40 businesses linked to Waziri Atiku Abubakar. You will find Peter Obi. But you won’t find Tinubu’s businesses. Where are his billions from?

Bola Tinubu is the number one exponent of wealth without enterprise. Nobody can say where his money comes from. We just know that he is rich. If you ask any promoter of Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition to name his source of wealth, they get offended instead of being proud!

If Evans the kidnapper, or Wadume, his co kidnapper, had never been caught, they could have been a political godfather, like Tinubu. Don’t forget that Wadume worked for the All Progressives Congress. And like them, Tinubu was caught, in America, for drug offences!

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission goes around Southern Nigeria arresting young men living flashy lifestyles without known sources of income. Meanwhile, they are silent as a Tinubu, without a known source of income, aspires to be their Commander-in-Chief!

No be juju be that?

If a keen observer observers some of Tinubu’s interviews, it is clear that the man was not just part of a white heroin cartel, he may have and still be consuming the product.

Cast your mind to Tuesday September 11, 2018, Tinubu boasted that “I am richer than Osun state”. On that day, he looked stoned and high as a kite. But the real question is this, what business does he have that generates the revenue that makes him richer than Osun?

That is the million dollar question that Festus Keyamo ought to answer. But I fear that it may be easier to resolve the Academic Staff Union of Universities strike faster than it is to answer such a question.

In fact, this election season is really funny.

Peter Obi, one the biggest importers of foreign goods for resale in Nigeria is promising to move Nigeria from consumption to production. While Tinubu, who can’t solve the mystery of his own real identity is promising to solve Nigeria’s problems! And Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who built a school in Niger Republic with Nigerian government money (Kano state funds) at a time while ASUU was on strike, is promising to resolve the current ASUU strike.

My people, no be juju be that?

Reno’s Nuggets

One of the most foolish things you can do is run after people God removed from your life. If you call and they don’t pick or respond to your call, stop running after them. Not only are you reducing your value to them, you are also refusing to see God’s Hand in it!

For your peace of mind, learn to obey this rule: If you call your friend and they do not pick, wait a day for them to call you back. If they don’t return your call in 24 hours, text them. If they don’t respond to your text within 24 hours, and they have not been abducted, kidnapped, or incapacitated in a hospital, you may be their friend, but they are not your friend. Nobody on Earth is that busy!

Politics › Who Are These Obidients?—- Femi Fani Kayode by adefitim(op): 7:07pm On Aug 22, 2022
WHO ARE THESE OBIDIENTS?

Let me make this clear from the outset. I am a member of the APC and a supporter of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

This contribution does not in any way derogate from that and my analysis is more of an academic and intellectual exercise than anything else.

I am NOT a supporter of Peter Obi and I have NO intention of becoming one. I am however interested on what his supporters represent and stand for and that is the subject of this essay.

They are worthy of my attention only because their rise and relevance in the political configuration of our nation, just in a matter of weeks, is meteoric and phenomenal.

In order to counter and defeat them or to keep them in their place we must at least attempt to understand them and figure out how their minds work.

The following are my findings.

Those that are the supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, are known as 'Obidients' and they are EVERYWHERE.

Those of us in the larger political parties like the ruling APC and the opposition PDP, treat them with contempt and ignore them at our own peril.

The truth is that they are far more dangerous to our collective cause as a ruling class than many of us can possibly conceive or appreciate.

Only the discerning can appreciate this and know precisely where this whole thing may be heading.

They may not have structures or elected representatives in the legislative and executive arms of Government but they have IDEAS and VISION coupled with a clear ideological and philosophical bent which can and will endure for far longer than mere political platforms and structures.

Unknown to them as well as virtually everyone else, therein lies their power. As they say, an idea whose time has come cannot be stopped.

Long after we are all gone they will still be here because structures and political alliances rarely endure but IDEAS and VISION last forever.

Again they will outlive and outlast us all because they are not a political party in the true sense of the word but rather a growing national movement which scales and spreads across ethnic, religious, political and regional lines and traditional boundaries.

They also represent a generational and paradigm shift which is increasingly attractive to many and they are bound tightly together by a common purpose, common cause and common objective: namely to rid Nigeria of the old order and usher in the new.

That is really what they want to do and that is the primary and strongest source of their inspiration and motivation.

They are far more dangerous to what the French describe as the 'Ancien Regime', the old political class and the entire system itself than anything we have ever seen before because most of them, bar their leader and a small handful of political tried and tested veterans and old war horses around him, are NOT politicians and have never ventured anywhere near the political arena or the circles of power.

In the main they are an innovatively aggressive and frightful array and association of angry and determined young men and women who clearly have the courage of their convictions coupled with the audacity, fury, daring, rage and firm resolve of those that were involved in the Endsars protesters and the fiery footsoldiers that effected the 1917 Russian Bolshevik revolution led by Vladimir Iliyich Lenin.

There is also something Rawlingesque and intimidating about them.

That is to say they are like the late, great and mighty son of Africa and leader of Ghana, President Jerry Rawlings, who also led a successful revolution in his country in 1979 and who, on his second coming in 1981 when he toppled yet another Government said, "if there is no justice there can be no peace!"

That is the spirit that is in the Obidients and that is what moves them.

Yet though they do not like to hear it their chances of winning the presidential election next year, short of a miracle, are very slim and deep down they all know it even if they refuse to publicly acknowledge it.

Despite that they are determined to fight to the end, hope for the best, work hard and give it their best shot and, of course, therein lies their victory.

In this game courage is the key. As they say, 'he who dares wins'. Again as they say, 'fortune favours the bold' and these young people are both daring and bold.

That they can challenge the status quo and vie for the sacred and awesome power that has been shared by the two major political parties or their ancestral variants over the last 62 years is commendable in itself. I am not part of them but I certainly commend and applaud their efforts.

They too have a right to fight for their rights and future and to be heard. They too have a dream and a story to tell and we must never begrudge them that.

Yet if the truth be told they are not only interested in winning an election but, perhaps even more importantly, they are interested in making a profound and defiant statement, registering their protest against the status qou and the powers that be and triggering and engendering a full scale, comprehensive and all-embracing social, cultural and political revolution.

They want a real and fundamental change and not a fake one. They want to pull the whole house and system down with everyone in it and rebuild a new one in their own image, with their own values and on their own terms.

Most important of all they want to see the back of those of us that are in any way associated with the old order or that have been in Government or the corridors of power at ANY point in time over the last 62 years.

That desire and sentiment is the force that is driving and propelling them and that is kindling their fire and swelling their ranks.

They are like the Robspiers and the Marats of the bloody French revolution between 1789 and 1799 whose battle cry was "liberty, equality and fraternity", who brought an end to the French monarchy, Royal family and nobility, chopped off their heads and established a proud and strong new order and proud Republic.

Like Robspier's tiny cabal of French revolutionaries they are led by a small cell of intellectual and idealistic hardliners and are bolstered, girded and supported by a volatile, massive and increasingly dangerous support group and power base who threaten violence and hurl insults at their perceived detractors at the drop of a hat and as a consequence of years of pent up anger and frustration.

If they ever get power many heads will role and many of today's and yesterday's leaders will run into exile or go into hiding.

This is especially so of those who have something to hide or who have skeletons in their cupboards.

That is what makes them so threatening and I repeat, those of us that are in the larger political parties or that are members of the existing and ancient ruling class underestimate them, ignore them and display disdain for their firm resolve and rising anger at our own peril.

Most of my political associates, friends and colleagues across party lines tend to dismiss them with contempt.

They regard them as being inconsequential and argue that they only exist on social media. I beg to differ. I see them in the streets and I see them in the Churches.

I see them amongst my staff and amongst those that regard themselves as being amongst the oppressed and downtrodden.i see them amongst the professionals and those thst are bankers, lawyers, doctors and artists.

I see them in the North, West, East and South. I see them everywhere and not only on social media.

I see them as being a very powerful and potent rising force which, if properly managed, will develop into a major political power over the next few years with a strong ideological and electoral foundation and massive structures.

That is the potential that they have and that is how dangerous they can be.

The sooner those of us that are in the larger political parties get off our high horses, display a little humility, try and understand their mindset, reach out to them, take them more seriously, appreciate their anger, restore their hope, make the necessary concessions and try and abate their rage and rising angst the better it will be for us all.

They may not have today but if we do not play our cards right they may end up having tomorrow.

May God help us all.

The hypocrisy of our brothers from the east stinks to the high heavens. Is there anything Soludo is saying here that's different from what Uzodima has been saying for long?. But of course, Uzodima has to be labeled for belonging to a different party while Soludo hailed for being a darling. Imagine the attacks if anyone other than Soludo had made this statement.
Those idiots who are quick to label DSS and fulani herdsmen at the slightest may as well label Soludo as efulefu. The fetishes, killings, beheadings, human sacrifices by these folks is not a news, the news, however, is the culture of denial among the people from the region to absolve and cover up the criminals among themselves to appear saintly to the public.
Gbamsolutely.
