Who would I tell if not my spouse?? She's my partner for a reason. Well, that's why I tend to study girls before going for them. I'm 100% open to my current girl. You know, it's safer. If anything happens in future, she'll know how to defend you and she won't be hurt. When you tell her from the onset, you can easily paint the story to make it seem less evil or for her to understand why it happened. But if she gets to hear it from another source, prolly after long years of trusting. She might be devastated and you would have a big problem making her understand why it happened.
