For me this is total rubbish the appeal court is evil and the supreme court didn't do better either for someone to have drag a man they framed to high court and loss the appeal court ought to add to their plight but they rubbish the fine levied by the high court now the supreme court only play smart that there was no appeal against downward review of the fine. This kind of judgement only empowers the rich to be brutal and further crash the hope of a common man at best a mediocre victory. I understand legal right is not the same as moral right and most time our judge has proven our courts are court of law and not justice though under the umbrella of justice yet so much injustice. Societal cleansing is what justice bring there by entrenching sanity in our community.
It is a no brainer to even think of that as a good idea to curb the menace of unprecedented insecurity in the country, eg. kidnapping, unprovoked attacks and killings, banditry and terrorism that's bedeviled the country for over a decade.
Ado Doguwa a member of the house of representatives has this as a plan to stop insecurity. But I think the multiplier effects of doing so will be so enormous and overwhelming.
That action can automatically throw the country into a sudden civil war, and guess who the targets will be.... THE LEADERS THEMSELVES and that's because we are where we are because leaders in Nigeria have failed to do the right thing.
What do you think will happen if an angry and hungry man is being allowed to have access to guns? Well ur guess is as good as mine.
It will mean more jobs for witch doctors, who will get more customers to do "Odeshi" otherwise known as traditional bullet-proof.
People will shoot to kill at the slightest and most ridiculous provocation.
There will be aggrieved persons trying to purge, themselves of pain through retaliation, just to settle old scores.
A good percentage of people in the country has fallen into an unimaginable pit of depression and a lot of them are already suicidal.
Psychological disorder and bad mental health is also an issue... people are trying to manage mid-life crisis, and then u let such person handle a gun? hehehe
More organ harvesters. More kidnapping, more terrorism, more banditry. Excessive and untold lawlessness. Rights will be violated !!!
There will be more brutal domestic violence.
The police and military will quit their jobs.
The list is endless.... if everyone has access to weapons to defend themselves then it will be accurate to say that its is finished.
But on a second thought.... if people are allowed to defend themselves and only if they can afford to buy the weapons for themselves then it leaves the rich and middle class enough impetus to send the country to abyss.
1 fairly used AK47 is more than a million naira
My guess is not your guess so all I see is rubbish give everybody gun let's defend ourselve.

CountVersailles: The only thing that can help stop this menace is to send these boys to firing squad strrraaaaiiight! Shoot them off. Reduce their numbers. That will teach prospective yahoo boys a lesson. Instead, dem go just dey give them slap on the wrist. When we were growing up then, the thing that deterred us from doing bad was the regular bar beach firing squad that wiped away dem hardened criminals. As a kid, when you remember those scenes, and your mama warn you, you stay away from stealing. Today, everybody just dey steal anyhow. Shior!
This in my opinion was one of the most lawless action ever taken by INEC and co in the country, claiming necessity.
The most legal thing that ought to have been done in that scenario was to complete the postponed elections with the dead candidate since elections started before his death and then subsequently swear in the vice.
The biggest fraud ever that vice must be a godly man.
Oyindamolah: I resigned from my job 8 months ago (July). I worked with this firm for one full year. It was a rollercoaster ride. I used to be very proactive and full of energy, going all out to achieve things no matter what was at stake.
When I took up this job last year, I was hoping to build a career and carve a niche for myself... But I was wrong. Before I resumed, a lot of people had resigned. Even on the day I resumed, I met just one staff on ground (he was trying to buy time before he eventually quits). So we were just two (2) in the office. It felt awkward because the environment wasn't challenging and competitive enough for me, but I had to do what was expected of me. Till the day I resigned, I was not found wanting in any aspect.. But I guess that was where everything went wrong. I was taken advantage of, used and manipulated. My boss was a chronic micromanager and very insecure.
Despite all these, I tried to allay his fears and made sure I did my best to assure him nothing would ever go wrong. He abuses us verbally with words I'm so ashamed to type here. When the other guy eventually resigned, I was left all alone with him. I took up his responsibilities coupled with mine. I was overworking myself every single day of the week. I became a shadow of myself and always felt sick whenever I get up from bed every morning. I was doing this for 4months till we were able to get a replacement for the guy. And believe you me, we were recruiting every month afterwards till I left because they were always resigning or should I say disappearing after the end of every month. So we practically had a new staff who would work for a month and disappear. And the reason was not far fetched, My Boss. He believes all job seekers are hungry and would take anything just for the cash (stipends). You can imagine a graduate bring sent on so many ridiculous domestic errands.
Though I'm not oblivious of the fact that it's not easy to set up a business here in Nigeria or even to pay salaries. I know what it takes, but that doesn't mean you should now use people like slaves.
As a service provider, you should know how to handle your clients, but this man would talk to them anyhow, insult them and then expect me to fix the mess or else I won't get paid. And because I was ready to do anything just for the progress of the company, he believed I had no choice. But I'm the kind of person that hates being idle. Hence, the reason for not seeing it as a big deal. Then came a time, I was at my wits end, couldn't go on anymore. I lost all motivation and up till now.
One of the most painful thing I heard after I left was when someone from the office called to tell me what happened that day. Sometimes, I usually use my money to quickly do some little office stuffs if the man is not around. So there were lapses after I left, he now asked what was really going on. So the guy on ground told him what I usually did.. And his response , "if I knew I had money, why did I come to work then?" Imagine. I felt so disappointed!
This is the same man that would refund you if you tell him you spent your money for the company, then go ahead to deduct it from your salary at the end of the month after looking for excuses or an offence you didn't commit.
Now, most people here in Lagos go through same or worse ordeal every single day. Leave home early, get abused at work, get home late. Looking rough and tired all for a pay that won't last up to 2weeks. I pity the married folks more, they can't resign/quit because they've got bills to pay, responsibilities (wife and kids), some even have girlfriends, they're stuck. I also have responsibilities and bills though, but thank God I'm still single.
This is the time to go all out and take chances, take risks and it will definitely pay off in the end. I've been able to focus more since I resigned, sleep well, eat well, learning some digital skills to boost my CV and running a little business of mine. Though it's not been easy, but I know I'm on the right path.
I have been there before, Naija one man business na big time slavery especially service providers.
Zonefree: Her mother shouldn't dictate when or how you make love to your wife. If she's not comfortable with that, let her go to her husband's house and allow young couple do what they're suppose to do.
Your wife and her mum are terrorising you in your home and it's not right. Put an end to this asap before see finish go enter.
The mama want 3some lol. Why is she monitoring their oza room affairs.
TOPCRUISE: If that dog was stolen then that breed is very useless except if it wasn't trained by the owner.
Even if it wasn't trained or trained otherwise a dog is still a dog and the natural protective instinct should work except the dog is a member of the robbers.
Mariangeles: I once read a man’s comment here on nairaland on how he wanted his daughter aborted at all cost. They later had the baby, and according to him, she’s the sweetest girl. The thought still haunts him every time he looks into her sweet eyes.
Like I once typed; it is hard enough to uproot a growing plant, how much more a growing child.
Very easy as hard as you said, but depends on the situation and personality involved.
Kobojunkie: Interesting claim there... so how exactly did you go about creating this kind of familiarity with him in the first place?
Um... why not do start by doing exactly what you would do to people who pose a nuisance here online... ignore? Why make it seem it all has to do with your ego and stuff?
Some days ago I read with amazement the takes of some persons on the attached thread.
So this lady was rejected by the recruiter for being "short". Perhaps the story is untrue just as many like it on Twitter, but I'm reacting on the premise that it's true (even though most likely greatly embellished).
Firstly, its crass and unprofessional for a recruiter to voice such words whether directly or indirectly, but sentiments is a huge part of decision making. Heck, most of y'all were never called back by the HR for the same reason as the complainant; only difference is that you weren't expressly told that you're short, fat, have terrible dentition, have bent legs or look too tacky and malnourished. Do you recall attending that interview where you believed you smashed it and impressed the recruiters, but never heard from them again? That could be it.
In certain businesses especially the hospitality sector, looks is a big deal. Have you seen airhosts? Have you see the attendants and receptionists at top range hotels? If all things are roughly equal among applicants, recruiter will tend to favor those who look more polished and are attractive.
The word “attractive” doesn’t just mean people want to have sex with them, it means people enjoy being around them more. It’s a reality, harsh as it may be. Businesses that appeal to the public work hard to make everything about the customer experience attractive….nice furniture and pretty pictures on the wall in a restaurant, attractive interiors, buildings or landscapes in the background of movies, and so on. It shouldn’t be surprising at all that they prefer attractive employees in customer facing positions.
This is natural.
Also, as a business owner, why will I employ a short first class receptionist when I can employ a tall first class receptionist? Wheres the wisdom? Beauty and intelligence are not mutually exclusive which means that one can have both. If as an HR, I have 100s of applicant for a single opening, does this not give me the privilege to pick "the best"?
Most of yall trying to be politically correct on the other thread certainly wont employ dwarfs in your organisation irrespective of qualifications. Image is super important especially in customer-facing positions and you're automatically a brand ambassador. Funnily enough, a lot of women only hang out with their beautiful friends while they call the average ones when they need relationship advise (I've had a couple of persons admit to this).
Some even ignorantly cursed out the country. Have you wondered why even some foreign orgs require you to attach a passport photograph or make a short video of yourself? That's right, they want to see what you look like. Even the military wont employ you if you're not up to a certain height or with a proper BMI.
That's why I always say that if you're goodlooking and well poised, then consider yourself as already having a fair headstart in life. Do not let anyone deceive you, beauty avails you a lot of privileges, but it's not just beauty.
