PoliticsRe: Bankole: Shame On You Ekwueme, Achebe And Anyaoku by Afam(m): 8:17am On Nov 17, 2009
I was accused of lying by this stupid nuzo and when asked to reproduce any single lie I have stated his only response was

nuzo:
Lie: .
This is the highest point of stupidity.

nuzo:
Fact: The FG is still holding the people of Anambra hostage by giving the PDP thugs an enormous amount of power. Or how do you explain the abduction of a sitting governor by the Nigerian police on the orders of Chris Uba? How do you explain the fact that a sitting Anambra governor cannot order the arrest of a criminal like Chris Uba. . . instead, it goes the other way round; he he kidnaps governors?
I doubt if anyone in Nigeria is not aware of the support Chris Uba used to have while OBJ was in power. However, while you are ok with blaming the FG for what your own brother is doing I believe the proper blame should go to Chris Uba and all the people of Anambra that work with him from the over 20 law makers he sponsored to those who are ready to die for him due to what they benefit from him.

nuzo:
Awful thing:
PDP and their thugs like Chris and Andy Uba has only the support of FG, the Police, paid assassins, touts and murderers of which he uses to suppress the people of Anambra state. Exactly the reason why Obi was massively voted by them.
Right now, the FG believes that any party apart from PDP is being sponsored by MASSOP, hence the high interest in the state.

No, I still maintain it that your hypocrisy stinks cos you dont see anything wrong in faulting Anambrarians on this crisis even when its clear that they have fought for democracy more than any other people in Nigeria. But you get riled up the moment a Diasporan faults the Nigerian leaders for the failed system. That is called hypocrisy and double standard.
Same old nonsense, however let will correct a lie you have introduced just for posterity sake. I have never objected to anyone faulting Nigerian leaders for the problems in Nigeria. I fault them too. I have always objected to Nigerians living outside Nigeria abusing those of us that live in Nigeria and will continue to do so.

That you cannot complete a sentence without lying is your own problem not mine.

nuzo:
Talk to me directly you coward. You think you and your opinion are better than anyone else's. In fact, I will be in Nigeria in a few days time and would want to meet you to really understand what drives your selfish, egoistic and holier than thou attitude. I challenge you to invite me to any place safe for you. I will risk all to have a one on one chat with you even though you are the kind of person that can set somebody up with the OPC or security agencies.
I also hope to use the opportunity to discuss my political ambitions with you as you may have a monopoly of idea on the steps I should take.

Just like I stated earlier in my first post on this thread. . . I enjoin Anambra people to keep fighting for democracy as they have always done even in the face of tyranny. . . a heroic attitude people like Afam does not have but will never be appreciative of people who do.

Long live Anambra state!
My response was to you, I don't know how else you expect me to talk to you directly. Are you referring to email, phone or face to face? If yes, then it is not possible as I don't waste my time will clowns.

So, as regards your proposal to have a face to face meeting with me here in Nigeria my response is this - No. I would rather engage a mad man on the street than waste my time with someone who has no credibility and who lies without thinking twice.

If this is how you have been arranging meetings with people then be it known to you this day that the strategy cannot work with me.

You say I have what you termed holier than thou attitude. Well, I think it is more like "honesty" there. I don't lie about anything in my life. I am honest in all I do so I understand why people like you get uncomfortable when we demand honesty as you cannot measure up in that area.

For me it has always been a way of life and criminally minded people cannot change this fact.

Keep looking for outsiders to blame instead of being man enough to blame those who are directly responsible for the actions you frown at.

The essence of this thread is not to brag but to appreciate the effort of the Diasporas, and to point out that we contribute our quota to the economy of Nigeria which means we have a stake to determine and criticize how the Country is being governed. When we complain about the country, it’s because we feel the pain too. We wish the country is better and we would not be put under much pressure to pump this entire money home to take care of the dying masses of Nigeria.
Dying masses of Nigeria? Is this what your family members tell you so that you can send money to them?

It is this gross display of stupidity that makes it seem like anyone is against Nigerians living outside Nigeria when responding to the nonsense you put down here.

What work do you do where you are? State it here so that we can know if you are able to even make money legitimately let alone have extra to send home. Before you know it security guards and dish washers will be bragging about sending money to those they borrowed monies from while in Nigeria.

Dying masses in Nigeria indeed. I don't see any genuine hardworking Nigeria making such a stupid statement though.

You must be a celebrated fool to vomit this statement. What can you people manufacture in that glorified country called Nigeria? Is it not because of people like you and your hopeless government that men are busy working to manufacture inverters for your pathetic lives?

Unlike Nigeria, they have electricity in their countries to enable them manufacture all that. Can you do that in Nigeria? The fact that they're manufactured in Canada and USA doesn't mean they have to use them. Dumbo! What do you know? You should be ashamed of your loose knowledge.

You started with the insults and I ignored all that but just like most Nigerians you like it the hard way. Who are you that one can't insult? I know your type so relax. You can hang yourself for all I care. Nobody will miss you, idiot.
I stated earlier that your thinking process was fundamentally flawed. I think that was actually a compliment because it is pretty obvious that you are a complete egg head.

Afam, I'm taking it easy with you because you are my brother and I can only assume that you see things differently, which is fine. We are Igbos and freedom of opinion is our gift to the world.
But, I wonder how you can't seem to find the nexus between Uba's rogue activities in Anambra state and outside influence. I hope you realize that your prescription can actually be a snare for leading figures in Anambra state ( and I suspect Igboland). If Ojukwu had tackled Uba directly, can you envisage the outcome? It would then be interpreted as another Anambra internal political affair. With heavy Federal support, do you think Uba will back down? So, Ojukwu, as our beloved leader and sage confronted the source of the problem directly and everyone is celebrating today.

Anyi nwere ebu, nwe nfu - (we have both sides of the peace spectrum). We have God and we have Satan as well. Unfortunately, in this world, people don't fear God, they fear Satan!
I cannot support anything that will undermine my own people, God forbid!

I cannot pretend that the Ubas do not have outside support but those outsiders cannot do anything in Anambra without the willing tools they found in Chris Uba and others.

Now, if some people agree to be sponsored by this man, I am talking about over 20 law makers and a governor then it means that we have a serious issue here and the people must correctly identify those that are working hand in hand with the enemies instead of putting the blame on an outside.

Dem say na rat wey dey inside go tell the one wey dey outside say make e come chop fish.

Half of over 150 million Nigerians living with less than $1 per day?

Needless to state this but clowns like you would even believe the world bank if it changes the statement to read that 90% of Nigerians drink only water year in year out.

That is the high level of stupidity you are bringing to the table.

That statement has been around even when $1 was exchanging for about N120.00 and this confused woman believes that indeed over 75 million Nigerians live on less than N120.00 a day.

If the statement by any imagination is correct then Nigeria should be praised for having being able to achieve this miracle.

The major inverter manufacturers in the world are in the USA and Canada even where they provide you with 101% electricity. Can't you use your brain to process information before spreading the nonsense you put down or are these companies owned by Nigerians?

Keep shifting the goal posts defender of Nigerians. Any insult you direct at Nigerians living in Nigeria will be responded to in kind, just have this at the back of your mind.

If you send money to your friends and family members that may have forged documents for you and contributed money to pay for your visa and tickets it does not give you the right to talk down on Nigerians living in Nigeria because in reality a lot of them are doing far better than you are doing.

The issue was about the insult, I will always remind readers this fact no matter how hard you try to divert attention to other things.

No one has claimed that Nigeria is ok the way it is and no one has compared the infrastructure in Nigeria to those outside so stop manufacturing issues that never existed on this thread just to justify your very careless and irresponsible comments and insults.

In this article, it is said that Yar'Adua himself made it known that btw 1999 and 2007, the administration of his predecessor spent $10 billion on the power sector without building any new power plants.
However, for the fun of it, if you google "$16 billion + Nigeria + Yar'Adua + Obasanjo", you will come up with so many news clippings and stories of that exact amount from different news sources. So who do we believe? Or are we to say that ALL these stories are fabricated? ALL?

I understand that this thread is digressing so instead of taking it further away from its topic, lets just agree that OBJ Mismanaged SOME BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. It does not matter what the amount was. If ever he (or his administration) is found guilty, mismanaging 1billion or 10billion will still fetch those involved some stiff penalties.
Different amounts were reportedly spent or wasted from $10 billion to $16 billion with the law makers and presidency claiming $13 billion at a time. An economic adviser who attempted to correct the mistake by the presidency was fired. At the end of the day the same law makers put the amount to about $5 billion.

Now, this is about the amount quoted.

What did they consider wastage?

Most of the comments that nothing were on ground based on trips and tours of the law makers were based on complete ignorance on what constituted EPC contracts.

Many wondered why over 60% of funds were given out to relevant contractors without seeing anything on ground forgetting that you can as well spend over 70% of the total project amount without seeing anything on ground and this is perfectly normal in such contracts where the bulk of the time and money goes into engineering design and procurement which usually includes custom fabrication of components based on small but important things as little as soil texture and gas composition for the gas fired power plants.

Imported (completed) turbines were even laying waste at different ports while the ongoing probe was on and the projects were still within the stipulated time frame and yet close to 1 year was wasted in the process.

However, there were irregularities in the award of some contracts and those responsible should be made to face the music.

My point is that love OBJ or hate him when it comes to solving the power problem in this country no president or head of state has done more than this man who has his own faults and made some mistakes while he was in power.

We must avoid blanket commendation or commendation and instead admit the positive or the negative actions of anyone without any sentiments based on facts.

Yes it is true that sometimes you can't aviod re-inventing the wheel but i think some of the better generic open source tools out there these days are flexible enough for you be able to customize to a specific requirement if required

You are right about the learning curve required in learning how to extend some of these tools but once you pass the initial curve i think you will be fine.

The good thing about these tools is that it is developed by a community of developers so it would probably have been thoroughly tested (at least the very good ones with an active community) and if you get stuck with a problem you have people who will be willing to help you out

Downsides to doing your own thing is that you have to go through many cycles of testing to ensure that the software is doing what it is supposed to do. Fix little niggly bugs and all
I believe in open source.

If you get to discuss custom projects with companies then you will see where over reliance on already existing software may boomerang.

I was once recommended to one oil servicing firm here in Lagos concerning a CV, recruitment and project tracking software. I was informed by the company that they had rejected two off the shelf software solutions after seeing the demos by some IT firms. They only made this information available to me because I refused to do a demo without being paid as I made it clear that free demos don't make any sense.

At the end of the day a custom solution was built for them meeting all the requirements they brought to the table and they have been using the solution.

The only reason why I was confident on being able to deliver was because I understand the building blocks of programming and could turn whatever business process into code. I wouldn't have been able to do this with off the shelf products even if it meant tweaking a few codes here and there.

With all due respect, some of these guys abroad think they have seen it all. A lot of them live in the fringes of their
host countries and are living on a social security safety net cultivated by the citizens of that country. Some of them are at
best , illegal aliens and have no significant contribution to their host countries. what this means is that they do not have any
possibilities of interacting with the system for fear of apprehension (illegal alien) or for lack of resource to do so.

Don't get me wrong, I am speaking from experience. The moment they are out there, Nigeria is trash. Ll their anger is focussed on
Nigeria, forgetting that the citizens of their host country embedded thamselves at home , braving the odds to come up with a better
society.

I think customizing an existing free ecommerce software in any languague is just fine.

E-commerce is very generic there is no point developing from scatch . . . a waste of brain resources imho
One of the major limitations I have found with technology adoption is the statement - there is no point re-inventing the wheel.

By all means if you can re-invent the wheel go ahead because it is in doing so you get to understand how things work. If e-commerce is very generic then how come it is very difficult for payment gateways in Nigeria to implement simple e-commerce solutions? I have been dealing with IT managers of banks who in my opinion know very little about e-commerce let alone having them implement them to our own unique environment.

Customizing an existing free e-commerce software may cost more and take more time considering the fact that you must understand the design principles, logic and assumptions made by the original developer before you can correctly change anything that may affect the working of the software.

I started using open source solutions like joomla when it was still mambo and after about 2 years I realized they had unnecessary limitations and were not flexible enough to accomplish tasks that clients would want on their websites.

About scalability of PHP my simple question is this - Why do we have over 70% of dynamic applications out there running on PHP?

This forum runs on PHP and it is the most popular Nigerian website and the script is open source.
