I expect you to look at the issues chidichris raised and address them. Like is common with many commentators, you avoided them and treated irrelevance.
Well, I am not hear to do what you expect, sorry about that.

OYB_MEND:
I have always been wondering the relationship btw ozolagbo and chris

Because a man who thinks the debate about el-rufai or ribadu's arrest should attract OBJ and call that objectivity will either be Chris himself pretending to be someone else or he must be Chris' twin brother.

And all of a sudden Ozolagbo has immediately risen to the defence of Chris in response to Afam's post.
From now onwards I will be scanning Ozolagbo's post for the 3 lletter word OBJ.
Maybe the guy is now using multiple usernames.
PoliticsRe: King Wasiu Ayinde Arabambi For Senator by Afam(m): 1:21pm On Dec 16, 2009
A senator only need to push forward demands of his/her people while defending them within the stipulated laws of the land.

Put differently, someone like Ayinde may perform 100 times better than the so called educated or enlightened people in the senate today.

As for english if anyone can push his/her points better in his native language the person should be encouraged to do so while they get interpreters. At least this will also create jobs for people.

We cannot try to copy what others are doing for the sake of it.

what happened in the case of atiku where ribadu made noise? the case died as soon as the electorial objective of obj was achieved.
if u look at our federal roads, power supply, security and everyother areas of federal interests, we will all agree that ibori and orji uzor kalu are pure and perfect saints in the nigerian context.
if obj with the aid of ribadu and el rufai privatized nigeria, what stops kalu and ibori etc from privatizing their various states.
as long as nigeria and nigerians continue in this decietful moves of leaving the real objects for shadows, we will not go anywhere and we will continue in our darkness.
this is 10yrs plus of pdp rulership in nigeria, how far have we gone in our developmental processes? what is the relationship with the security before 1999 and today? what are the differences on our roads before and now? we are practically moving backward.
Let me confess I didn't read more than the first line as I just decided to scan the post for the name OBJ and before the end of the first line it just showed up.

Won't be surprised if this guy sees OBJ in his sleep every night. Dis kain obsession na complete wonderment sha.
PoliticsRe: Man Stoned To Death. by Afam(m): 6:12pm On Dec 15, 2009
Death for adultery? This is wrong as long as it is not rape.

But death for murder? No problems with that as long as the murderer is not left to live after killing another.

The manner of killing may seem barbaric but those who loot and steal funds meant for children and women who die because they cannot get medical care are probably worse. The many silent victims of corruption are usually high when compared to these executions that don't happen everyday.

PoliticsRe: Why Is Nigeria So Difficult To Develop? by Afam(m): 8:06am On Dec 15, 2009
paddy_lo:
@Justcash

u have the right passion, but the wrong premise. . .the federal govt in nigeria,or any govt anywhere in the world cannot bring about development
i will give u a simple example that u are familiar with by now. . .NITEL and the GSM companies
NITEL with the market to itself,a behemoth that should have been able to make billions of dollars providing basic phone services to the populace, could barely maintain 2million landlines and a pathetic amount of cellphone lines. . .it was corrupt and inept. .slow to adopt new technologies
now contrast the change since GSM operators were licensed in 2001. . .we now have achieved a compound growth rate of over 2000% in the first couple of yrs in terms of   mobile and voice growth. . .it has now slowed to a rate of 54% as at last yr,but it is still the fastest growth rate anywhere on earth
telecomms and communication now account for 3.4% of GDP up from virtually 0% in 2001.

the reason i tell u all these is that, the govt doesnt have the money to do all that is needed to be done in Nigeria. . .if u bring in $1trillion dollars today and pour it into developmental needs of the country,it will swallow it and ask for more. .so knowing all these it means that we have to attract capital from outside our shows, since we dont have enough of it internally
how does capital come?. . .BY making sure u have rules and regulation clearly spelt out, then keeping the govt out of it. .or at the barest minimum. . .
Govt now controls NEPA. .any surprise that its not working?
look at N.N.PC. . .exxon mobil is valued at over$300bln dollars. . .while our own govt controlled N.N.P.C does not even own a functioning refinery,
meanwhile if u float N.N.P.C today on the stock exchange, get govt out. . .it will now attract private capital that will help it build refineries, invest in what needs to be done,at the same time cut corruption out of it and u can begin to see its valuation rise to rival even Petrobras or exxon

multiply this template throughout the nigerian economy and u will get rapid growth and development to the tune of 12%per annum or more. . .
but how many of us really understand this? some people even argue for more government control or socialist policies like fuel subsidy and the like
the developed countries which u cite, all they do is have strong laws, and attract capital. . .thats it. . .it dont matter from uk to japan thats how they do it,because any economic system dominated by the govt is bound to fail

so lets hope they de-regulate and privatize this N.N.P.C soon, govt should get out of the business of importing or subsidizing fuel,
power production and distribution should be liberalized, especially this issue of govt setting the price of power
roads and road construction should be concessioned for the most part
in agriculture there should be emphasis on direct loans to commercial farmers and improved skills, again a policy exert should be done in conjuction with banks
and govt should then tighten its tax collection abilities, because once the economy starts growing rapidly, govt major source of income should be from taxation
so it should be able to collect taxes from all businesses in the country, from small to the corporation.
Well stated. Well put. Well done.

We do not have sincere leaders and those being led are not helping matters by focusing too much on white collar jobs with no reasonable production of anything in Nigeria.

Nigeria cannot develop with its population if it remains an import destination. Today, companies from different parts of the world are doing their best to sell what they produce in Nigeria while our own people refuse to see the inherent danger in this trend.
PoliticsRe: North At Last Dumps Yar’adua by Afam(m): 12:08pm On Dec 14, 2009
Gbawe:
That is precisely my point. OBJ is stubborn and tough. At the time he was powerful and influential enough to have ignored the 'agreement'. Nothing would have happened either. The North will grumble but they won't do jack !!! How many promises to the North did OBJ regene on? Don't we have federal character in place right now similar to rotational Presidency? Is Yar Adua not flouting the federal character agreement casually ? What has the South done other than to complain the Yar Adua is "Northernizing" Nigerian Governance?

Policies and agreements can always be reversed. Especially an agreement not written down anywhere and made by a few self-serving elitist fools who think they can do what they want with the destiny of 150 million folks. OBJ was many things but I don't think he was a coward . If he had wanted to enshrine the principle of meritocratic emergence of future Presidents he would have done it. I don't agree with rotating the Presidency at all . It is a foolish arrangement that will be abrogated in the future. Mark my words. The entire world cannot keep doing thing the tried and tested way yet we in Nigeria keep doing things in a warped way while giving excuses about our popultion, diverse ethnic group ,etc, etc .

It may not be near ,but some day Nigerians will develop enough political maturity to understand that it is not where the President comes from that matters. It is far more important to vote in a man who will genuinely work for the entire nation. That is tthe best way to ensure, peace, progress and ethnic integration.
Trust me OBJ knows his limits so this talk about him being able to do anything and the North will just complain cannot be substantiated.

If OBJ could do anything and get away with it then 3rd term would have been in place as we write this today. No single leaders leads in isolation even dictators have people they listen to for advice and direction.

Nigeria is not a nation and as such those things that should ordinarily work in a normal democracy would not work easily here because of suspicion, tribalism and religious differences that you cannot wish away.

Fashola can win 2011 elections under normal circumstances. With support from Buhari,Atiku, etc he will definitely win
In a normal setting without any rotational presidency I will vote for Fashola to win the next election however, the fact on ground is that for the South West to vie and win any election in this country all the other geo political regions must have produced presidents.

We live in a peculiar environment that requires careful handling. It does not cost any greedy or wicked person anything to cause havoc as long as he/she does not perceive danger or thinks he/she will not be affected.

When it comes to keeping Nigeria one there are compromises that must be made and respected otherwise things can go real bad.

For example, the North willingly (military regimes owe no one such willingness to hand over power to civilians) agreed to hand over power to the South to placate the South West due to the death of Abiola. They did not do so out of fear as nothing would have happened if Abdusalami spent a few more years in power. They did so because they understood that power shift and rotational presidency though undemocratic in my opinion make perfect sense to douse the many claims of marginalization from the geo political regions.

The argument for a proper federal system of government is perfectly ok but when it comes to the important issues we must face reality and not idealism which may never materialize due to the facts on ground.

For example, do you expect all the 36 states to be collapsed today into the 4 regions we had in the past? I don't see that happening, not now, not tomorrow and probably never.

Dear honorable Kosovo,
It has come to our Knowledge of the NL committee members, that the Election of the NL political department contributor of the year was suspended on 11th December 2009, until 17th December 2009.
Firstly, we must say we are impressed by your good work and high moral standard you have exhibited, which brought the election this far. We highly recommend these effort and specifically congratulate you for the achieving a free and fair election at the 1st and 2nd stages of this election.
With further investigation to the circumstances surrounding the sudden locking and suspending the poll until 17th December 2009, we came out with the following findings.
(1) That by locking the poll, you constituted a serious breach in electoral procedure, as instituted by NL electoral committee on 29th November 2009, which was further amended on 10th December 2009.
(2) We also discovered a breach in moderator’s code of conduct, as provided in Section 9, subsection 2 act. 4 of the constitution of People’s Republic of NL. (This stated the ability of a moderator to withstand pressure, or personal attack from the public). From the information gathered, the sudden lock and suspension of the poll was as a result of the attack and pressure from some prominent NL community, who questioned the credibility of fair in the election.
(3) Lastly, we also discovered an abnormal use of power. Your sudden act of locking of the poll without informing the public or making you reasons known to them why the poll was suspended shall not be tolerated by the committee members. There for, we found this as a breach in your oath of office as the Moderato of NL political section, ”to maintain all fairness to the people’s republic of NL and not use your office or power for your person interest, other than the interest of the People’s republic of NL.

Pending an ongoing investigation on the above charges and findings, the NL committee members, hereby, ask for your voluntary resignation from the office as the assistance moderato of NL political department. We request you to tender your resignation letter to the office of the President, People’s Republic of NL immediately after the announcement of the winner on 17th December 2009.
The provision made by section 11, article 4 in the constitution of People’s Republic of NL shall automatically come into effect, following you resignation.

Once again, we thank you for you for your faithful, dedicated, transparent, unbiased service to the people of NL and a great Job well done within the few time in office.

Signed:
Committee Chairman.
Hon, Dr. Mr. Wazobia Ndmidwest
( MON, FSS, OBT, NCE, SAN, OPC, SOS)
You see people think that leadership is easy until you give them a chance and before you know it you see complete dictatorship as evidenced in kosovo's conduct as a moderator.

This is why I am afraid of the younger generation complaining about the state of Nigeria being given positions of authority. The same very high level of intolerance and lack of sincere discussions will spell doom if given the chance to lead.

I hope those of you who are discussing power rotation and the agreement (albeit unconstitutional)  between all political parties to rotate the presidency between North and South, understand that,  the agreement requires the president to emerge from the South in 2015 - and that means anywhere in the south.

If the agreement is continued through 2015, I believe that the president will be come from the south south region or south west (ala Fashola), unless the south eastern politicians come up with very ingenious negotiating skills and political strategies.  History does not support the idea of such skills by politicians from the East. Anambra is a case in point.
I took it for granted that you would understand the meaning of North/South to include the 6 geo political regions 3/3 across the 2 zones.

Your comments with East and Anambra will be treated as silly so no need to debate that.

OBJ could have produced Donald Duke as the PDP candidate and the North would have had no choice but to go along !!!
It will be wrong and senseless to produce Duke as the PDP candidate because an agreement was made to rotate the presidency between the North and the South and that agreement was to prevent any problems as even OBJ was drafted in to become the president even when he did not work for it as there was a serious need to placate the South especially Yorubas for what happened to Abiola.

While rotational presidency may be undemocratic it makes sense in our own environment due to the fact that we are not yet a nation and as such must figure out a way to work together if breakup is out of the question.

We are so sentimental in our perceptions that we have lost all objective judgement. That is why many ignorantly celebrate Ribadu. What I learnt from his fight against corruption is that you can keep stealing public funds, provided you remain loyal to the powers that be. This is the man many ignorantly celebrate as the anti-corruption czar. We are very eagar for a change. Corruption has done us. Anyone who therefore packages himself as an anti-corruption fighter is received with warm arms. Ibori lost his immunity on 29th May, 1999 when he ceased to be the Governor of Delta State. Why did Ribadu wait till December 2007 before he arrested him? Ribadu was playing politics and scheming. It was when he lost out that he chose to move against Ibori. Imagine him receiving petitions on corruption against two individuals and investigating and prosecuting one while leaving the other one because the latter one is loyal to the powers that be. Is this how to fight corruption? Think, Nigerians, think. What we need is a system and structure manned by a courageous and uncompromising person who will do the work without fear or favour, not in the mould of Ribadu the ambitious politician. What goes round comes around. He should come home and answer to the charges prefered against him. All these comments of sentiment will take us no where!
For someone that consistently called others ignorant people the quote above in bold can only be made by someone who is not only ignorant but confused and clueless with no respect for facts whatsoever.

@Kosovo,
There was no clear majority. I suggest you put up another poll that will include only the names of the three top nominees. If we don't get a clear majority, We can then go down to the top two. The year still has 3 weeks.

Thanks for your understanding and respect your views always.

@Afam,

This is a re-run election and it was agreed that the 3 leading candidates should fight for it. Thus, its not necessarily a tie break election. Its normal for leading candidates to go against themselves once a clear winner is not produced during first round of balloting.

I dont think the umpire did anything bad. It was a collective decision by the house.
Thanks for your post. Kindly point to the link or section where the house or forum agreed that the 3 of them should go for the run off.
