It is very clear from the posts thus far that 1. Those who claim to have seen juju work believe that there are supernatural powers that we cannot explain and that they defy physical laws as we know them today. I have seen juju at work. 2. Those who claim juju does not exist only do so because they have never experienced it and as such any claims don't make sense until they themselves see the juju work. 3. Those who claim juju does not work seem to be looking for opportunities to see it work, hence the numerous questions from people who believe it does not work yet want to know how something transformed (wanting to know but not bold enough to admit that), why Ronaldo's leg did not disappear (it was reported that even his mother had hired another witch and they are not Africans), why black people are not very rich through juju, why US is not using juju (since some believe that they can only believe something if the US says so, real shame) etc. Therefore, there will never be a meeting point on this issue because an overwhelming majority of people here have stiff mindsets and will do anything to support their positions even if it means turning logic on its head. Be it known that any christian that believes in the recorded events in the bible that clearly defy physical laws and at the same time claims juju does not exist because it will defy physical laws is a hypocrite, confused person and a bloody sycophant. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. A mind that believes everything has been understood by it is already dead. |
mazaje:Stay on one page and tackle any issue raised so that you don't end up confusing yourself. If I see a house turn into a car in my presence I believe it happened unless it was in a trance, I was dreaming or I was drunk. The event remains true to me because I witnessed it. Now, does it mean it is a fact that you must accept? No. The decision to accept it as a fact or not is your own right which I respect because you did not witness it. So, to claim that what I saw is a lie is the height of stupidity in my opinion. It is the same stupidity that is at play if you witnessed something and someone far away tells you that what you claimed to have witnessed does not exist. Sometimes, we are desperate to push our positions that we throw away all forms of common sense and mutual respect. Sometimes, I am inclined to believe that one may be dealing with a bunch of teenagers here because the level of reasoning is low while the level of intolerance is high. |
mazaje:My friend, in order to minimize friction and misunderstanding I implore you to read posts as they as and stop reading meaning that may not exist in everything due to a mindset you may have developed. I have an open mind and believe we learn everyday. This means that I don't know everything as there is always something somewhere to learn unlike some of you that have claimed to know all based on your limited understanding of what happens around you. This reproduced article is not a proof that juju exist but to show our own people who easily label Nigerians, Africans and the Blacks as people who subscribe to such things forgetting that Europeans, Whites etc also do so. Read and understand post before jumping to conclusion lest you end up fighting with people based on issues that don't even exist. So, your questions about why the witch did not make the legs disappear should be channeled to the website, the witch or even Ronaldo's mother herself. |
Ikomi:I don't know what you are talking about there. Well, unless you are referring to TayoD, Tayo-D or any other user ID because for dis forum people can surprise you with multiple user IDs. ![]() |
While we are still at it, I heard on radio that a witch was contracted to inflict injury on Christian Ronaldo of Brazil. Came into the office and did a search and found this. This is not Nigeria, this is not Africa. This happened in Europe where physics and science are well respected. ++++++++++++++ Cristiano Ronaldo Cursing His Luck After Witch's Spell - Report The world's most expensive player has been tackled by something other than an opposing player, Oct 22, 2009 12:13:51 PM Photo Gallery Zoom Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid (Peace Cup) Related Links Teams Real Madrid Players Cristiano Ronaldo Cristiano Ronaldo may put fans under his spell with his magic and trickery on the ball, but he is now the subject of a curse that a witch claims is going to ruin his career. The Portuguese star has been ruled out for four weeks with an ankle injury, and though many felt it was down to a hefty tackle, there may be more to it than that. Pepe the witch, a self-described occult practitioner based near Malaga and not the Real Madrid defender, has been talking regularly to the media about the spell that he was paid around €30,000 to cast on Ronaldo by a former lover of the Real Madrid star. Describing the woman as a "jilted lover", "non-European" and "a very wealthy heiress form a well-known family", Pepe has told AS that he is the reason behind several of the player's recent problems. A car crash earlier this year and a groin injury suffered after the end of last season were just forerunners for what the player is now experiencing. One thing that is perplexing people in Spain and Portugal is that Pepe stated that he would injure the player before he suffered his ankle problem against Olympique de Marseille in the Champions League. That issue was then aggravated during Portugal's World Cup qualifier against Malta, and now Ronaldo's mother is reported to have hired another witch to counteract the curse on her son. Pepe has made headlines again by stating that he now aims to end Ronaldo's career, but that he has refused to do the same to Barcelona's Lionel Messi. "He will spend more time injured than playing. There will be many small injuries or one that keeps him out for five months. The aim is to keep him from playing football," he was quoted by The Daily Mail as saying. "It is voodoo. First I need a recent photo. Then I use a doll with nails piercing the ankles, spine and head. "Other people have called me to do the same to Messi, but I refuse. One woman asked me to go against Beckham and (Brazilian) Ronaldo, (Esteban) Cambiasso, (Fabio) Cannavaro, " If Ronaldo is superstitious then this could be a dent to his confidence as he looks to return from the injury, which will see him miss another three weeks of action. Your logic is flawed. One could as well ask why there is evil in the land. Does mean that God is incapable of tackling evil? On a lighter note, one may deduce from the photograph you posted that the Nigerians working for the British may have helped to destroy the juju the Oba relied on so could be the reason for his capture. |
I must admit, some of those pictures are funny while some shouldn't be there especially the one with the full picture of the victim. At least, we should respect the sensibilities of the people the girl left behind from friends to family members. Can't imagine myself in any of those costume abi na work uniform even if N1M dey table. However, it does not matter whether you believe juju exist or not. Just don't gamble with your life in the process of trying to prove it doesn't exist because I have seen things that defy physical laws and on all the occasions I was neither drunk nor had eye problems. I am not an advocate of juju. As an open minded person I have seen enough to know that such supernatural powers exist and I believe the bible admits that much. Funny enough, some of us have twisted issues just to justify their positions. My first response on this thread was about seeing if any good can come out of such powers considering the fact that every single event I have witnessed has to do with violence, guns etc. A fact is a fact whether you agree or not. That is why people have from 1% to 100% in examinations because your answers are compared to those that are correct not what you think is correct. |
ezeagu:Quote of the year. Goes to all the people that find it supremely difficult to make any logical contribution on this topic but would rather introduce diversions and irrelevant comments and lies just to make us take our eyes off the core issues. |
Can you guys get back to the topic at hand? If it is not possible because doing so will always expose the hypocrisy in us then let us at least stop creating unnecessary diversions. Colonial mentality at work. Believes everything the white man says while dismissing anything that the black man says. And we still wonder why the views and the instructions of some of the Western worlds are being forced down on us in Nigeria - There are no shortages of willing agents to spread and propagate their biddings. Enjoy the weekend ahead. It is common to hear from someone who is missing the point tell others that they are missing the point so when some of us talk about science I laugh because I know a lot to even make me question religion or God but based on what I have chosen to believe as regards Christianity I simply draw a line between the logic that may simply throw everything away. So, even people who are experts in type writing can come here and tell some of us that we do not respect science even when some of us sleep and wake up on science. |
ChinenyeN:I agree with the post above. Thanks for making it crystal clear that RichyBlack is contradicting himself over and over again. He believes in the magic, miracles, unexplainable events recorded in the bible even when they defied all known physical laws without any evidence, logic, proof etc while explaining that away as faith. Yet, he has the audacity to claim that juju does not exist because it is convenient for him to say so. In reality, many of us are just follow follow people who hold very contradictory views and opinions even on religious issues. Identity and belief crisis I call this. Quite a number of us are typing away on our pcs making all sorts of claims and counter claims but in reality would refuse to cross a gate or door way that has just palm fronds, red cloth or calabash with a cooked egg for fear of any consequences that might befall them. That is the reality and that is the plain hypocrisy that is obvious to any discerning mind on this issue. Apart from the fellow that claims he does not believe in God or even Satan every other person that believes in any religion and claims that juju does not exist because they defy physical laws is contradicting himself or herself and such a person is suffering from serious identity and belief crisis. Even the bible clearly stated (for the christains amongst us here) that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph 6:12). If the bible makes this statement then it means that we have powers above and beyond flesh and blood and consequently above and beyond all the people that have made the physical laws that we quote all the time. Until I read comments based on objectivity on this topic I am off to other things where people who are not to arrogant to accept their mistakes or lack of knowledge on anything are discussing. People who have mindsets based on ignorance are claiming that Nigeria is not making progress because of juju. How can an educated mind learn anything when the mind believes everything has been understood? |
bilymuse:You can take the content above to any bank and they will give you cash. More diversions are being introduced. I can understand the dilemma of some people like RichyBlack would excuses supernatural belief as faith when convenient and concludes juju is fake because it suits him. This is the tragedy of the thinking process of an average Nigerian. Inconsistency, double speak and unnecessary diversions. @all those that have claimed that juju doesn't work otherwise Africans would have been very rich I have this to state - juju as we know it is not only practiced by Africans. This is basic, highly simplistic and common sense position for an educated person to miss. This forum is not an alternative to regular education. In conclusion, whether juju works or not has absolutely nothing to do with whether some of you agree or not. This is one fact that makes some arguments a complete waste of time especially when people have minds that are not yet trained to accommodate views and opinions that may seem strange to them. |
@RichyBlack, It seems you are at a cross road here. I respect your faith and do not intend to question it. There are people that even have faith in stones or even snakes and while I may not agree with them I believe it makes perfect sense to respect them. Enjoy the rest of the week. As they say facts don't change. No need to stress the obvious. It is clear that for you logic only makes sense when it suits you. SEFAGO:Only a fool would claim to know what hs/she does not know. I accept responsibility of things I know and bold enough to admit what I don't know. It is only proper and decent. SEFAGO:Bloody liar, this thread is not a personal attack on RichyBlack. RichyBlack made categorical statements that remain contradictory and 180 degrees apart and that is why he is unable to answer questions posed to him. It seems you are already seeing ghosts as we have resorted to logic and common sense, sorry ehn. Just go to the religion section to debate the existence of God and satan, this thread is not interested in your useless belief. |
wirinet:I am sorry I cannot provide the information you seek because I am not a juju man as only those that use them can answer your specific questions and why they fail sometimes. |
SEFAGO:You see why I made it clear in the past that you are clueless and extremely stupid? When you avoid questions asked and instead you set your own questions and proceed to answer them you make a complete fool of yourself. Is the topic about the existence of God or satan? Little wonder we have a lot of educated illiterates around. You talk about logic but don't understand what it entails. I will educate you since you have consistently fooled yourself here. Premises 1. God exists 2. Satan exists 3. The major religions in the world agree to these 4. The views of an overwhelming minority are inconsequential on these issues Conclusions - based on the premises used 1. If God exists then satan exists which means that supernatural powers exist be it good or bad 2. If one believes that God exists and is equally a christian then it automatically means that the person believes in the stories as recorded in the bible 3. This in turn means that such stories defy the physical laws which some people hold supreme 4. You cannot believe in the events that defy physical laws from the bible and still use physical laws as the basis for dismissing juju. So, learn to address issues raised. You first resorted to insults which you later admitted and apologized for because you were (and still remain) intolerant of views you do not agree with. This is childish and stupid and people do this when they find it difficult to support a position. The issue of existence of both God and satan is another matter entirely, do not use that to divert the main issue as there is an obvious clash of interest and belief with those that claim to be christians and their positions with physical laws. |
@RichyBlack, Do you believe that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead after 3 days? If yes, then is this in line with the physical law? If no then you are suffering from what I call a religious dilemma where you don't even know what to believe in which is worse. Seeing people die while others repelled bullets shot at them at close range is enough to prove that juju works for those that use them. I don't need the contribution of ignorant people who have confused mindsets to tell me otherwise. To people like this it is only what they witness they can agree exist, nothing more. Like science juju fails sometimes because even native doctors die, people who have relied on juju have been disappointed and in some cases such disappointments lead to death. Does satan exist? Does God exist? Can anyone answer the 2 questions above and back your answers with proof so that one can make progress because it seems some of us are not only confused and ignorant but completely clueless on this issue. For the christians that have avoided the questions bothering on events stated on this thread for fear of contradiction and inconsistency I say shame to you. Why believe in something you cannot defend. For those claiming that all the referenced events from the bible are lies because according to them they don't believe in any religion don't confuse issues because that is a topic for another thread. The issue now is to see how objective and honest some of us are concerning the issue of physical laws and spiritual laws. I know it is common for people to introduce all manner of diversions just to take our eyes off the main issue but on this one keep your diversions to yourself so that definite answers can be provided for questions asked. @RichyBlack, You claim to be a christian and that means you believe the bible and its contents. Now, do you believe all those super natural and spiritual stories and events that were recorded? If yes, do they defy the physical laws? If no, what do you really believe? These are simple questions. Please answer them. |
9jaganja:RichyBlack is disappointing me on this issue because he has done everything to avoid the serious issues raised. I am not really interested in the childish and ignorant comments of some of the clowns that have contributed to this thread. While driving home from work today I asked this same question of juju to 4 other people in the car and all but one claimed that they had witnessed juju especially the bullet issues. The other person says she believes it exists but does not want to go near it at all. I told them that there was argument about this on a discussion forum and some educated people claimed juju does not exist because they have not experienced it. The topic quickly shifted to the meaning of education and how worthless our certificates have become. That summarized the contribution of bankers 2 men and 2 women who had no prior information about this discussion. Goes to show that indeed some of us are just ignorant and yet are quick to label others as being ignorant. |
The original post that disappeared. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Understanding Web development costing Posted by abcn on 2009-10-19 10:24:40 AM One of the most critical issues concerning web development is cost especially as web developers charge anything between free to a couple of millions of naira to develop websites or applications. As a matter of fact it is common to hear from a prospective client that Mr A said he will do this project for N10.00 so why are you asking for N100.00. Considering the fact that a fully functional website is not another piece of furniture it is important to state that it is supposed to showcase, inform and sell products 24 hours a day, 7 days a week without any room for downtime as people from all over the world should be able to access the website anytime they want to regardless of their time zones. How do you decide on what cost is ok for a web project? What is too cheap or too expensive? Why the difference in the costing to begin with? I will attempt to explain the different components of a fully functional website and what it takes to set up one from discussions between the web developer and the client. Components of a website 1. Domain name registration - This is like a street address that is used to locate websites regardless of the exact physical location of the web server hosting the website. It is renewable on a yearly basis. 2. Web hosting - This is the computer that houses your website from text files to media like images, audio and video. Important features are monthly bandwidth, disk space, number of email accounts, support for a programming language, support for a database technology etc. This could be a monthly, quarterly, bi-annually or yearly recurring fee. 3. Web development - This involves all the tasks necessary to produce a website with whatever content and design the customer wants. Websites could be static websites or dynamic database driven websites. Static websites are the cheapest to setup and depending on the frequency of updates may be the most expensive to maintain. Database driven websites usually cost more to setup and with a good content management system these are the cheapest to maintain as any authorized staff can add, update or remove content from the website at any time and from any section. The tasks involved and the associated costs 1. Domain name registration - Involves buying a domain name for the website you intend to setup for your business or for pleasure. Domain name registrants are responsible for these registrations and anyone can buy a domain name ranging from free to thousands of naira. 2. Web hosting - Involves setting up a personal server, connecting it to the internet and publishing your website that is if you want to own the web hosting server. However, this is usually a difficult route considering the fact that you are responsible for the complete management of the server from software related issues to hardware related issues to power and security of the server. The more common solution is subscription to a web hosting company. While this is easy to hook up to I must warn you that dishonest providers can effortlessly short change you by promising unlimited everything even though the actual setting limits the quota to much smaller figures. For example, unlimited bandwidth don't really exist unless you are paying a lot of money to cover for the cost of bandwidth. If you doubt this, just sign up for one and try to run a video archiving or video sharing website with reasonable traffic an you will be surprised at the definition you will get for the unlimited bandwidth you paid for. Web hosting management software come with a feature that allows the owner to set the actual quota and the advertised quota which may be 1000 times higher than the actual quota. Reliability of the web hosting proper is directly proportional to the number of websites being hosted on the server. A server with one website would be the most reliable while the same server with over 10,000 websites will be less reliable and that explains why websites sometimes are unavailable as the web server would have to reboot itself once in a while as a fail safe mechanism to avoid crash when the available RAM is nearly exhausted. 3. Web development - This is the trickiest of them all and this is where the problem lies as regards cost. As earlier stated, a static website is the easiest to setup as it involves creating different pages with pre-defined content and linking them up with navigation links. This does not require programming and does not have any need for database technology at all. Any one that is good with any web authoring tool or even notepad can set up a good looking website. Now, should you want your website to do more than a static set of web pages that look like bill boards you will need to add logic, programming and in most cases database functionality to enable the website to respond to user actions in more ways than one. This is where websites like news publishing websites, e-commerce websites, membership websites, access control and user authentication websites come in. To successfully setup a database driven website you will be needing the skills, knowledge and experience of the following - web designer - to design the web pages that are usually referred to as front end - programmer - to write the necessary codes that will turn the business logic into a functional algorithm that will do exactly what the business logic wants to do - database admin - to design and setup an optimized database that is usually relational for some complex business logic cases. What this means in essence is that while Mr A would charge you N10.00 to develop a static website that will not take the same time it will take to develop a database driven website Mr B may charge you N100.00 or N200.00 depending on the number of features to be integrated into the website. Good enough Nigerians have seen stage one of the web development cycle which is "I want a website for my business or for pleasure". We are now gradually moving to stage two of the web development cycle which is "I want my website to be able to do this and that like enable me change the information, enable a customer choose products to buy and pay for same using ATM cards without leaving the computer". Unfortunately, most website owners find it difficult to understand why Mr B would ask for several times what Mr A charged for the original static website just to turn the website into a database driven website. But one thing should be clear to all - If the static website owner can add the programming and database features to the original website then it does not make any sense to look for another programmer. While I cannot blame any customer that shows surprise whenever the cost of a database driven website is presented it makes perfect sense to attempt to present the facts as regards what it entails to setup a database driven websites so that they will better understand why the developers of their static websites find it difficult to integrate any programming or database feature when asked to do so. Programming is an entirely different skill set just as database technology is a different animal altogether. Programming takes time while a database that is poorly designed and implemented will make nonsense of the website or web application. Customers or prospective customers should engage reliable and experienced web developers to help them understand what it takes to enable whatever business process they want to turn into software and negotiate directly without fear or favor while taking time to see previous works to avoid bogus claims and unrealistic promises that will ultimately result in disappointments and wastage of funds. We have Nigerians that can handle any type of database and programming projects so it is not a matter of whether Nigerians can do this rather it is a matter of how to meet them or where to meet them. The many challenges of using software to solve a lot of problems can be overcome once we begin to ask the right questions and insist on quality. ++++++++++++++++++++++++======= |
Answer the simple question and stop beating around the bush my friend. ![]() Or, is your pastor standing over your shoulder as you type? Faith? Hmm!!! It seems that your faith is currently at war with your nothing can defy the physical laws mantra. Is this correct? Na you box yourself into a corner so no blame me ooo. |

JProspero:Excellent post! The Igbos want fairness, justice and equity. The average Igbo person does not need favoritism to survive. Just provide a level playing field and allow the best in terms of academics and hard work to get his/her due. Is there anything wrong with asking for the above? |
Keep dodging the question. It is clear that you are in a belief dilemma here. You should be bold enough to stand for something regardless of the consequences. As a christian do you believe in the events stated and reproduced here from the bible? If yes, do they obey the physical laws? If no, then it means you believe in nothing. ![]() |
kaecy5:I guess the author knows the fact because they are their neighbors in the same state so should know their correct ethnic group. It does not matter that an Ikwerre man may claim not to be Igbo. We know the facts. Remember that people become Igbo when it is convenient for the people labeling them. For example, the first military coup was led by Nzeogwu from the Mid West but all references by Nigeria to justify the senseless massacre of Igbos especially in the north referred to Nzeogwu as Igbo. Sounds familiar? |
